The Capsule Collection By Wings+Horns And Timberland

Here’s another collaboration for the books that’s sure to get every Timberland fan’s attention. The iconic shoemaker has teamed up with contemporary menswear label wings+horns to give us the extremely limited capsule collection, which launched on Oct. 19.

The lineup consists of a 640 Below boot, a hoodie, and track jacket, and pants, all of which are available now on wings+horns’ online store and select Nordstrom stores. The boots, of course, are the highlight here.

The 640 Below boots are obviously waterproof and feature scuff-resistant pebbled Helcor leather. They can pretty much withstand all the extreme weather conditions you can think of. Among the highlights of these kicks are its nubuck leather collar, tonal black hardware, and 400 grams of PrimaLoft insulation. These are some of the toughest boots you’ll ever have the pleasure of owning.

Suffice it to say that this is one of the more impressive team-ups we’ve ever seen this year, with both companies infusing the collection with their respective design philosophies so as to come up with pieces that expertly converge minimalist aesthetics with rugged and utilitarian elements.

Now, enough about the boots. The apparel are made from Cabin Fleece, a quilted three-layer fabric designed for warmth, structure, and comfort. The hoodie is accented by a tonal RiRi side zipper. The jacket, meanwhile, boasts a classic stand collar, a two-way zipper, and in-seam hand pockets. Finally, the pants feature zippered cuffs and a co-branded leather patch at the rear pocket.

Armani Exchange Connected Smartwatch

The tech market is an ever-evolving landscape that can surprise both users and manufacturers. The smart wearable segment of the market has seen both up and downs over the years, but it’s not about to fade into irrelevance just yet. Case in point, Apple just jumpstarted the innovation yet again with the Watch Series 4 and its built-in ECG sensor. Samsung just refreshed its catalog with a rebrand of the Galaxy Watch. Now, Armani Exchange Connected smartwatch chimes in just before 2018 ends.

The fashion marque recently joins the list of designer brands that have tried their hands with wearable technology. Recently, we got a chance to preview some entries such as the Diesel On Full Guard 2.5, and for comparison, the latter sports a bigger case with an avant-garde design, while the former opts for a more conventional look. This makes it easier to pair with different outfits may it be casual or formal.

Sadly, the Armani Exchange Connected smartwatch is not yet equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC. Instead, it still uses the outdated Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform. Nevertheless, you still get a capable smart wearable that flaunts a 1.2-inch AMOLED touch display, built-in GPS, an optical heart rate sensor, NFC for Google Pay, and a 300mAh battery.

Shoes By Berluti And Ferrari

No bigger news came out of the Paris Fashion Week than Berluti and Ferrari launching a new shoe collection. One that apparently takes inspiration from “gentlemen drivers,” as the luxury automaker puts it.

The two have joined forces for three new shoe models, a slip-on, an Oxford and a Chelsea boot, complete with signature stitching and Ferrari Red piping detail in the heels. The shoes are available November from select of Berluti stores and online.

Because carbon fiber is heavily implemented into Ferrari cars, especially the more recent ones, the shoes have received a similar treatment. And every element, like detail and styling, takes inspiration from Ferrari vehicles. That includes the sculptural, sinuous shapes and stitching. The shoes evoke Ferrari’s instantly recognizable exterior styling and exquisite interiors.

“These are the lightest shoes that Berluti has done ever. These are shoes which have real technology in them, with carbon fiber that is used for cars for driving,” says Ferrari chairman John Elkann. “It’s a very special grip that you have on the sole and this is taking inspiration from the engine.”

The idea was to try and capture the vibe of the gentleman driver back in the ‘60s. We won’t be glamorizing the ‘60s here, of course, especially when its ills and errors reverberate to this day. But there’s something notable about the simpler, more refined design inclinations of that era. Which is especially in the automobile sector. We understand why Berluti and Ferrari have such a fascination for the decade.

The Berluti and Ferrari collection coincides with the release of the Monza SP1 and SP2. Both were inspired by vintage models but outfitted with modern technology.

Limited Edition Bow & Stern Abyss Watch

Bow & Stern hasn’t been in the timepiece game for very long. But despite this neophyte Australian watch brand being only four years old, it’s quickly gained a reputation for its slick and luxurious timepieces that are still quite affordable.

Its latest model, called the Abyss, marks the company’s first automatic diver’s model. It was launched on Kickstarter and has since been successfully funded. The watch is yet another testament’s to the brand’s ideals, which are quality, reliability, and staying 100% carbon neutral.

That’s because for each Abyss sold, Bow & Stern plants a Blue Gum Eucalyptus tree in the Annya State Forest in Australia. The company also provides a lifetime guarantee for each of their watches. That means they’ll pretty much handle any repair jobs you might need in case your watch errs or needs some replacement parts.

The Abyss watch will come in three designs. You can choose between matte black, brushed gold, and brushed silver. No matter which colorway, all are gorgeously minimalist. Plus, they’re evocative of the utilitarian focus of dive watches that became hugely popular during the early ‘60s. The model sports a 41.5mm diameter, plus water resistance up to 200 meters thanks to the 2mm-thick sapphire crystal glass, screw-down crown, and hermetically-sealed caseback.

The cases are made of 316L stainless steel and finished with the brand’s anchor logo. The indexes, hands, and zero mark on the unidirectional bezel are all illuminated by Super-LumiNova. You’ll also find a white date window at 3 o’clock. Underneath it all is a NH35A movement with a 41-hour power reserve.

The Abyss costs $330, but better act fast if you want one since only 1,200 units will be produced.

Waterproof Kindle Paperwhite

Amazon already a offers a waterproof Kindle in the form of the Kindle Oasis, but it’s simply just a tad bit too pricey at $250.

But now you don’t have to spend that much just to bring your entire library with you for some poolside reading. Amazon just updated one of its most excellent Kindles ever, the Paperwhite, to feature waterproofing. At just $129, you never have to worry about dropping this in the pool if you fall asleep trying to read Ulysses for the nth time.

Shipping early November, the new Paperwhite also has a higher-resolution screen, now boasting 300ppi. It also supports Audible audiobooks via Bluetooth headphones. A feature called Whispersync will even take note of which part of the audiobook you’d stopped listening to and, when you finally open the ebook version, pick up exactly where you left off.

Amazon also brought some much-needed aesthetic changes in the new Paperwhite. For example, the six-inch display is now flush with the rest of the bezels, which means dusts and other debris won’t get stuck in the edges of the display since it’s not recessed anymore. The company has also expanded the brightness range to 10% so you can see the display even under the sun.

You can choose between two versions. There’s an 8GB one that’ll run you $129, or the 32GB, which costs $159. We’re not sure why 8GB wouldn’t be enough even for the most voracious reader since e-books aren’t particularly large files, but if you’re big on audiobooks, you should consider buying the 32GB version.

Tennis HU and NMD Trail By BBC And Pharrell Williams

These shoes were leaked before they’re official announcement, so the kicks you see above might not be a total surprise anymore. Especially if you’re a sneakerhead always round the clock discovering the latest rumors.

But those leaks didn’t include the “HEART” and “MIND” embroidered text throughout the forefoot, so this is technically still the first time you’re seeing Adidas’ Tennis HU and NMD Trail, created in collaboration with Billionaire Boys Club plus legendary producer and style icon Pharrell Williams.

Both the Tennis HU and NMD Trail feature a knit upper with a white base and a stripe motif running across the forefoot. In Particular, the NMD HU features a trail-inspired tread pattern, embroidered text on the forefoot as we’ve mentioned. That and a full-length Boost midsole. And what BBC sneakers would be complete without some BBC branding? You’ll find that on the heel.

Per typical BBC style cues, the sneakers are dressed in a preppy nautical combination of white, navy, red, and yellow. Each boasts bold striped detailing and special gold-stamped hits on the heel. We don’t need to tell you these are some of the most stylish pair of kicks we’ve ever seen. We also don’t need to tell you that you have to act fast if you want one. The overall design draws inspiration from William’s streetwear brand Billionaire Boys Club. Specifically, it’s a manifestation of their motto, “Wealth is of the heart and mind, not the pocket.”

This can include wrapping up in scarves, hats, gloves, long johns – or you can just not go outside altogether. While these might be decent solutions, they don’t protect you as much as a winter jacket.

Not just restricted to those living out their days in the Yukon, winter jackets for men are an invaluable investment that is sure to keep you cozy and comfortable during the cold times. What are the main things to consider when buying a winter jacket?

When buying any winter jackets for men, you can’t just rely on any old jacket to sufficiently protect your from the great outdoors. Rather, you need to laboriously pour over all the possibilities and all of the features. You also need to know the who, what, why, and how of the jacket to make sure it’s the right one for you!

Weight:

However, if you’re a smaller man of 160lbs status, that 20lbs worth of jacket could be much harder to deal with.

Sizing:

Unlike your lightweight jackets for the fall, jackets made for the winter have to accommodate the potential for layering. Everywhere you look, layering is considered the number one way to prevent feeling the chill during winter.

You’ll need to think about how many layers you can fit under your jacket when buying a new one for sure.

If the winter jacket is warm enough on its own, it’s likely you won’t need much under it. Especially when you won’t be outside as much. However, if you are going to be outside a lot or in Canadian winters then you’re certainly going to need as much as possible on.

That said, you’ll need to accommodate this by knowing how much you can wear in comfort.

Some jackets can get a tad cumbersome if they’re too large. If you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy looking like a marshmallow when walking down the road, think about that size issue.

Lining:

The type of lining inside the coat will help you determine just how warm you’re going to be, as well as adding to (or detracting from) the comfort level. The majority of winter jackets for men have a fleece lining that is designed to insulate your body heat and keep you warm.

Even when sub-zero temperatures descend, it can be useful.

However, this very same fleece lining can also cling to and retain moisture. Depending on your feelings about hoods altogether, you want one that is removable. Some jackets have an attached hood that can be added or removed completely. The most common you’ll see are versions you can throw back out of the way and put on quickly when you want it.

Waterproofness:

Is waterproofness a word? Well, it is now.

Some of you spend your winters like birds by enjoying the sunnier parts of the world like a coward. For those of us who brave it out, you’ll know how essential it is to have a waterproof jacket to keep you dry. You’ll see all kinds of unpredictable weather conditions in the winter, so you need to be prepared.

There’s little worse than believing you’ve bought a waterproof coat, only to find that it isn’t waterproof at all. Some might barely even be water resistant. Ensuring your winter jacket is waterproof will save you a lot of issues and keep sicknesses away that can come with wet winter conditions.

This will give you the chance to step out in all sorts of wild conditions. That’s even if the only reason for doing so is because you can.

Protection:

We’re not talking about kevlar or built-in chainmail, brave knights of the Gears of Men (we kinda like that honestly). Although, that chain stuff be useful in some parts of the world.

Anyway, we’re referring to protection from the elements. The element protections you’ll want to be included are things like windproofing, waterproofing, and ventilation. You’ll also want design choices that help keep you as toasty and comfortable as possible while outside.

Nike Air Tailwind 79 Comeback

Guess who’s making a comeback? Just the pair of sneakers that officially debuted Nike’s patented Air technology. That’s who’s making a comeback. So, no big deal. No big deal at all.

Yes, you read that right. The Swoosh brand has dug deep upon its historical backlog and picked up a legendary pair of Nike Air Tailwind 79, taking out the iconic kicks for a much-needed comeback.

To help fend off moths, the collab offers cedar balls and storage bags to protect your pricey knits. And to keep your garments looking fresh and free of pilling, there are three unique products: a wooden cashmere comb to de-pill delicate items, a sweater stone to remove pilling and lint from chunkier knits and a brush — sourced from Redecker of Germany — that helps rejuvenate the yarn while removing lint, fuzz and hair.
