Lodge Chef’s Skillet
Save 42%: The world of cast iron caters to wallets of all sizes. Spend $300+ on a piece of beautifully made, ethically produced cast iron from an incredible shop that still hand-casts every piece. Or, take the well-beaten path most Americans have taken for the last 50-some-odd years – the Lodge path.

You can count on Lodge’s skillets and cookware to be affordable, even at SRP, so when one its superior skillet line (which is already only $26 at full price) has its price cut nearly in half, the value skyrockets. The Chef’s Series skillets feature one significant change from the usual lot – almost 1.5 pounds of iron are shaved off. Where the typical 10-inch skillet weighs about 5.6 pounds, the Chef’s series is just over 4. It won’t seem like a lot until you’ve got a 32-ounce steak searing at 500 degrees and you want to tilt and baste.

Today, the Lodge Chef’s Skillet is $15 on Amazon. — Will Price

Citizen Promaster Diver
Save $140: We’ve extolled the virtues of Citizen’s Promaster Divers in the past, but the takeaway is this: with a solar-charged quartz movement, big-time depth ratings and chunky cases, they’re great all-around watches for active individuals who want an analog watch but don’t want to get too deep into the weeds with mechanical watches. They also come at bargain prices. This particular version, for example, is water-resistant to 200 meters, has a dial loaded with lume and comes affixed to a comfortable rubber strap — exactly the kind of configuration you want for summer excursions. While the watch retails for $350, Macy’s has it marked down to just $210 right now. — Andrew Connor

Stuart & Lau Gym Bag
Save $95: It can be tricky to find a gym bag that has just the right amount of pockets, keeps your sweaty gear under wraps and looks good, but we think we found The One. With a minimalist look to it, you’d never guess that the Regimen Gym Bag from Stuart & Lau has a ventilated shoe storage unit, water bottle pockets on the sides and a locker hook. Did we mention it comes with a lifetime warranty. It’s essentially a done deal for us. — Meg Lappe

OtterBox Coolers
Save 25%: OtterBox’s move into the cooler category began last summer with the release of the Venture series. It came as a surprise to those who recognize the brand from its domination of Best Buy’s phone case racks, but among the company’s first products were protective dry boxes, so the sidestep wasn’t entirely radical.

But does tech protection translate into making coolers? As it turns out, it does. OtterBox integrated rugged injection-molding and high-grade cooling technologies into its first cooler and brought the Venture straight to the front of the crowd. The Venture comes in 25-, 45- and 65-quart sizes and is rated to hold ice for up to two weeks. More minute details include anti-slip rubber feet and a bottom that’s slanted just slightly enough to make draining easier. And, as you’d expect from OtterBox, this thing has been dropped from every angle and on every side to ensure that it can’t be damaged, empty or full.

This year, the company introduced a line of soft coolers called the Trooper Series. Both of the coolers are IP-65-rated, which means they’ll keep out dust and the inadvertent splash of water. They also come with wide-mouth, one-handed-access openings made of plastic and exterior shells made of durable nylon that is resistant to water, UV damage, chemicals and punctures. The bases are laminated to be abrasion-resistant. Inside, the liners are food-grade. The bigger Trooper 30 also comes with backpack straps.

Both the Venture and Trooper coolers were among the best that we tested this year, and all sizes are currently 25 percent off at Huckberry. — Tanner Bowden

The Best Deals of the Day: June 4, 2018

Welcome to Deals of Note, where Gear Patrol captures all the best deals of the day. You can also follow all our deal posts in the Deals section. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at deals@gearpatrol.com.

Adidas Terrex Agravic Gore-Tex
Save $80: Never worry about wet feet while you’re out on the trails. The Adidas Terrex Agravic Gore-Tex Shoes are ideal for trail running on damp and muddy paths, as well as on rocky terrain. The Gore-Tex lining creates a breathable, yet waterproof membrane around your foot, preventing water from getting inside, and the continental rubber outsole and distinctive lugs stick any landing. — Meg Lappe

Ray-Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses
Save 50%: If you’ve been waiting for a screaming deal to drop some cash on new sunglasses, Nordstrom Rack has a sale for you. Right now, you can get a pair of black Ray-Ban Wayfarers for 50 percent off. The brand’s iconic style Italian-made style normally costs $153, but you now you pick it up for $77 while supplies last. — John Zientek

Technivorm Moccamaster CDG
Save $110: There are many reasons why a high-end coffee maker like Technivorm’s Moccamaster cost as much as it does. You can read about them here. But the upshot is this: it’s a meticulously-engineered machine, certified by America’s foremost coffee authority, and will yield you one of the best quality cups you can get at home. Still, the Moccamaster CDG’s $340 MSRP is one hell of a price to pay, which is why this rare deal from Massdrop is worth jumping on if you value the quality of your morning cup of Joe — you can currently get the brewer for just $230. — Andrew Connor

Hamilton Dress Shirts
Save 30%: Since 1883, Hamilton Shirts has crafted some of the best shirts available. The fourth-generation family-run business is based in Houston, Texas where it makes a range of both custom and ready-to-wear shirts. While the brand’s made-to-measure and bespoke shirts offer the highest level of personalization from fit to fabric preferences to detailing, they also come with the highest price-tag.

If you want a great introduction to the quality of Hamilton shirts, try one of the ready-to-wear dress shirts. The brand teamed up with Todd Snyder to create two shirts fit for any professional occasion. Each shirt features a non-fused spread collar, mother of pearl buttons and a tailored fit. The fabrics — a chambray and a blue piqué cotton — are both woven in Italy from Egyptian cotton. Normally $215, these shirts are now 30 percent off and cost $149. While not inexpensive, it’s actually a great value for the quality of shirt you’ll receive. — John Zientek

Sony X900E 4K HDR TV (2017)
Save $702: Sony makes some of the highest quality and best-designed 4K TVs you can buy. Yes, they’re more expensive than 4K TVs by TCL and Vizio, but you can occasionally find a Sony 4K TV deal that’s almost too good for even budget shoppers to pass up. Case and point, this Sony X900E. The 55-inch model went for $1,700 when it was released last year, in early 2017, but now that Sony is pushing its latest models, you can snag the X900E for less than a grand. Right now you can buy the Sony X900E on Amazon for $998.
More on the X900E. It’s a beautifully thin and near bezel-less 4K TV. It supports HDR10 and HLG high dynamic range technologies (not Dolby Vision, though), and it has a very fast 120Hz refresh rate, so you won’t get the motion blur that’s common when watching sports and flicks. It’s also a smart TV that comes with Chromecast built-in. It works with Alexa and Google Home, too.

Altra Escalante Running Shoe
Save 46%: In 2009, Golden Harper made his first zero-drop running shoes by cooking them in a conventional toaster oven, cutting out the midsoles and leveling the cushioning platform. Now that his running company, Altra, is in its seventh year, the process is definitely more refined, and so are the results.

The Escalante is Altra’s take in an athleisure running shoe. It’s made with an engineered knit upper that provides a spiffy look and a sock-like fit and employs an Altra Ego midsole that’s responsive and soft. Like all of Altra’s shoes, the Escalante has a zero-drop, level running platform, which means that there’s no difference in height between your heel and toes. It also has a wider toe box than other shoes, and these two design technologies together are meant to allow for a more natural running experience.

You can pick up the Escalante right now on Massdrop for 46 percent off its full retail value, which is a solid deal for a high-quality running shoe. — Tanner Bowden

Allen Edmonds Brown Burnished Collection
Save $175: While generally regarded as some of the best value buys in formal footwear, Allen Edmonds dress shoes aren’t exactly cheap — most of its classic styles retail for $425. For Father’s Day, however, the company has slashed $175 off the asking price of a handful of brown dress shoes, including the Fifth Avenue Cap-Toe and McAllister Wingtip oxfords. — Jack Seemer

Patagonia Fleece and Down Outerwear
Save up to 50%: Summer weather is in full force, but that’s not to say you can’t capitalize on the lower prices last season’s best outerwear. Right now, at Backcountry, you can save 50 percent on a Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T Fleece Pullover, Down Snap-T Pullover and 40 percent on a Bivy Down Reversible Vest. — Bryan Campbell

Nike Metcon 4 Sale
Save $38: Nike Metcon 4s and the Metcon DSX Flyknit 2 are both on sale today for up to $38 off. The Metcon is one of our top picks to wear to the gym or to the Crossfit box, thanks to its heavy-duty outsole and crushingly strong support underfoot. Both sneakers are durable and high-quality picks for any training you’re doing. The sale is only offered in a few colors, all with a variety of sizes still in stock. — Meg Lappe |

Common Projects Sneakers
Save 30%: You can score a solid discount on a few sneakers from Common Projects, the OG luxe minimalist sneaker brand. Need Supply Co. is offering 30 percent off of the Achilles, Tournament and Bball styles and prices start at $296. Each Italian-made shoe riffs on a classic sneaker silhouette but features top-tier leather, a durable rubber sole and heat pressed gold serial number detailing. — John Zientek

Chuck Taylor All Star ‘70s High Top Sneakers
Save 20%: Converse makes a replica of the Chuck Taylor All Star high tops it produced in the ‘70s and it’s far superior compared to normal Chucks. The upper is cut from durable organic canvas and features nickel eyelets and reinforced stitching. The thick rubber sole has higher foxing than modern Chucks and the insole is padded with OrthoLite Cushioning. Now at East Dane, you can save 20 percent on this classic warm-weather style in both black and white colorways. Normally $85, the style now costs $68 and is stocked in a range of sizes. — John Zientek

Todd Snyder x New Era Denim Caps
Save 25%: Todd Snyder’s collaboration with baseball cap brand New Era is one of many for the brand and its namesake designer, but its easily one of its most accessible.

The finished product is a minimal-yet-different enough take on the classic 59Fifty cap — your favorite team’s logo sewn into a hat made of denim that’s no longer made. Cone Denim lived as America’s lone selvedge denim manufacturer up until closing its White Oak plant in Greensboro, North Carolina in late 2017, and was hallowed by the denim-obsessed (and found its way into our Father’s Day guide this year).

The cap usually is 25 percent on Todd Snyder’s site right now. –Will Price

Brazyn Collapsible Foam Roller
Save 20%: In lieu of keeping a personal massage therapist on retainer, a foam roller is an athlete’s best friend. Rolling out muscles after an extended workout can help them by stimulating blood flow, which aids in recovery, and by introducing mobility into tissue that’s stuck together, tense or overused. It helps to reduce tension, increase mobility and lessen overall stress.

For all its benefits, the foam roller is an incredibly simple tool (it’s just a tube). It does have one major downfall though, and that’s portability. Sure, foam rollers with hollow interiors can be stuffed full of clothing and packed in a duffel, but it isn’t the most refined solution.

Brazyn, a company founded by former NFL tight end Nate Lawrie, solved that problem by creating a foam roller that’s collapsible. And while that may seem like a backward step in the design of an item that’s supposed to be able to support 350 pounds, it works. I’ve been using the Morph for over a year now, and it hasn’t inadvertently collapsed underneath me a single time. Its portability isn’t just a gimmick either — the Morph is still slightly chunky, but is definitely flat enough to stash in a suitcase or backpack. Any time I expect to get active while on a trip, the Morph comes with.

Huckberry is currently selling Brazyn’s collapsible foam roller for 20 percent off. If you’re a frequent traveler, or simply have been in the market for a foam roller and have yet to commit to a purchase, this is a great one to consider. — Tanner Bowden

Save on Premium Athletic Gear
Save up to 50%: There’s an uncomfortable paradox that comes with premium athletic gear. It’s in the nature of those who strive for ever-increasing performance to want the best equipment available, but at the same time, it can be gut-wrenching to pony up $300 for a bike helmet you might smash, or $80 for a t-shirt you’ll soak in sweat over and over again on long runs.

High-end gear is high-end for a reason though, and it’s often the case that you forget about that extra money as you cruise through a favorite loop in total comfort. That euphoria only increases when you know that you got that gear at a substantial discount from, for instance, an online sale.

Right now Mr. Porter, an online retailer that specializes in upscale menswear, is selling gear for running, cycling, hiking, sailing, tennis, golf and more at up to 50 percent off. The sale is vast — highlights include POC’s newest cycling helmet and Nike running shoes. There’s much more than that though and sizes are becoming more limited, but it’s worth a thorough sift-through (especially if you need one or two pieces to round out your kit). — Tanner Bowden

Save $70: These in-ear headphones are sweat resistant, sound great and allow users to adjust the audio’s EQ through an app. Also, if you know Bose’s in-ear headphones fit in your ears, these will fit you as well. (All Bose in-ear headphones use the same Stay Hear+ eartips.) Normally $149, you can score a pretty good deal on eBay right now by picking the Bose SoundSport Wireless in-ear headphones for just $79. They’re “manufacturer refurbished,” it’s true, but eBay has a 30-day and money back return policy in case you’re not happy with them.

Gregory Baltoro 75 Backpack
Save $141: The first backpacking pack I bought was Gregory’s Baltoro 65. Like so many do and have done, I was heading across the Atlantic to travel through Europe. My journey would be mostly through cities instead of mountains, and I’d be staying in 14-bunk hostel dorms, not a tent. But I knew that after the trip I’d want to use the backpack for those things, and I informed the store clerk of exactly that.

We chatted about my backpacking tendencies while he measured my torso to get a size and then he pulled three bags off the wall, removed their stuffing and replaced it with weighted bags that simulate a fully-packed backpack. I threw each one on and hiked around between the store’s racks and displays, attempting to get an idea in three minutes of what three months of travel might be like.

I landed on Gregory’s Baltoro backpack in the 65-liter volume. It was, to my consternation, the most expensive pack of the three the clerk had selected and slightly heavier too. But it was also the most comfortable — this fact is subjective, and what works for me may not for you — and the most feature-laden.

The list of those distinctive attributes is exhaustive. The ones that I’ve discovered to be most practical in the years since making that purchase — and trading the bag in for the bigger 75-liter model before an excursion to Ecuador — are its multiple points of access, a segmented and removable lid and a water bottle holster that’s actually accessible while hiking.

It was only until after many trips with the Baltoro that I learned it’s Gregory’s flagship backpack, and I can see why. It’s rightfully worth its full sticker price, but right now you can snag one for over $100 off at Mountain Steals. Enter the coder SAVE15 for an extra 15 percent off the already-marked-down price. — Tanner Bowden

Mr Porter Sale
Save up to 50%: Online men’s clothing powerhouse Mr Porter is currently having its Spring Sale where a wide range of casual garments are up to 50 percent off. There’s a great mix of popular and hard-to-find brands represented and you can browse products from Vans, Blue Blue Japan, Filson, Garrett Leight California Optical and more. Mr Porter’s normally steep prices are far more accessible now, making this a great chance to stock up on summer wardrobe staples — but if you see something you like, act fast because sizes are limited. — John Zientek

Smith Optics Sunglasses
Save 20%: Fifty-three years ago, a practicing orthodontist named Bob Smith revolutionized winter sports by creating the first pair of ski goggles to incorporate a sealed thermal lens and a breathable foam liner. Since then, Smith (the company) has become one of the most recognized sunglasses brands in action sports.

Smith is consistently on the progressive side of the industry, innovating new technologies like interchangeable lenses for both sunglasses and goggles and improved ventilation that prevents fogging. ChromaPop is Smith’s color-boosting polarized lens technologies that creates more contrast and clarity by filtering the wavelengths of light that our eyes have trouble distinguishing between. In summary: colors appear more vibrant, details are more clear.

Right now Huckberry is offering two styles of ChromaPop-enhanced lifestyle shades at 20% off. The Lowdown 2 is a Wayfarer-inspired frame while the Colson is slightly more sporty. Both look casual enough for everyday style and feature all the performance-oriented tech that has kept Smith at the top of its class for over half a decade. — Tanner Bowden

Milo Dutch Oven
Save $10: The Milo Dutch Oven exists in a category of its own in the dutch oven market — its enamel coating, lid fit and warranty far exceed that of the Lodge Dutch Oven that’s $40 cheaper, and is on par with Le Creuset’s product that’s almost four times more expensive.

Though it compares well with Le Creuset’s dominating dutch oven in its cooking prowess, it’s not a knockoff of the iconic French brand. Milo’s oven is heavy — 12 pounds to be exact — putting it more in line with the weight of Staub (another French dutch oven maker). The added weight permits it greater heat retention and evenness in heating, which essentially means it won’t lose as much heat as a Le Creuset will when you drop a load of cold veggies in it. It does borrow what may be the subtlest of Le Creuset’s design in the light-colored interior, which allows you to monitor the status of browning meats much simpler than a dark interior.

The Milo, which normally sells for $95, is $85 on Huckberry today. — Will Price

PicoBrew Model C Homebrewer
Save $205: PicoBrew’s Model C homebrewer is probably the most hands-off home beer brewer money can buy. It’s essentially a Keurig, but spits out fresh beer instead of watery almost-coffee — pop in a PicoPak (a pre-portioned mix of hops, barley, various flavor agents), load in the appropriate amount of water and press go. The machine has a built-in self-cleaning function and all ancillary parts are dishwashable. You can select PicoBrew’s in-house PicoPak brews, or from its long list of beers from various craft breweries (21st Amendment, Rogue and Coronado Brewing among them). You can also make your own beer on PicoBrew’s website.

The Model C usually sells for north of $500 — today it’s more than $200 off. — Will Price

My Favorite Daypack Is Currently on Sale
Save 25%: Unlike my stance on expedition bags, I never used to give much thought to daypacks. I’d prep for any outing that didn’t require the capacity of my 65-liter trekking pack by dumping my things into whatever school bag or ski pack was at-hand. As a kid, that was a forest green L.L.Bean backpack with my initials stitched to its face, and later in life, it was a multi-sport bag by Dakine.

Oh, what a world I was missing. Last fall, I picked up Osprey’s Stratos in its 24-liter volume (there’s also a larger 34-liter version), and it has since changed how I think about the daypack. For instance, I had no idea that my back could be anything but hot and sweaty, and didn’t realize that hip support is still crucial, even on short hikes.

The Stratos is outfitted with all the pockets, compression straps and access points you’d expect from a backpack company — especially one with a golden reputation among long-distance thru-hikers — but the standout for me has been its mesh back panel. It’s raised and tensioned away from the pack’s main vestibule, which provides a comfy trampoline-like feel and allows lots of air to flow between my back and the bag, which minimizes the sweaty back issue I had used to view as unavoidable. The mesh also integrates into the hipbelt, wrapping its arms around my lower torso like a well-studied dance partner for a fit that’s more comfortable than any I’ve known before.

Right now Backcountry is holding a Memorial Day Sale, and the Stratos is currently 25 percent off. It’s perfect timing for a deal — just in time for hiking season. — Tanner Bowden

YLighting Memorial Day Sale
Save 40%: YLighting is an online purveyor of high-design lighting (think Design Within Reach, but just lights). As you might expect, much of its wares are typically pricey and out of reach for the normal, everyday buyer. This weekend that all changes — a least a little.

YLighting’s Memorial Day Sale brings actual truckloads of outdoor lighting, wall sconces, desk lamps, floor lamps, overhead lights, whatever.

The company, which has 20 percent off sales quite often, cut prices to up to 40 percent for its Memorial Day sale, which is live right now. — Will Price

Cheap Outdoor Furniture
Save up to 70%: At Gear Patrol, we value products that last, are innovative and generally, in one way or another, bring an extra kernel of joy to your life. The products on sale in eBay’s absolutely enormous outdoor sale are not these things, but for those with an empty back porch at this point in the season, it can certainly fill a hole.

The sale, all 54,014 listed items of it, is live now, and slices up to 70 percent off a range of outdoor and patio furniture. Use code PMEMDAY for an extra 15 percent off at checkout (capped at $50), too. — Will Price

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay A1 Speaker
Save $60 plus a Power Bank: Right now, Huckberry is offering a wide range of Memorial Day deals, on everything from boots (here) to backpacks (here), outerwear (here) to home accessories (here). In the consumer electronics realm, which is where my eye tends to go, you can get a great deal on Bang & Olufsen’s small-yet-powerful Bluetooth speaker — the Beoplay A1. It normally costs $249 on the company’s website, but if you act now you get it and a portable power bank for $188. The combo will give you well over 24 hours of playtime. It’s the perfect picnic partner.

Velomacchi Memorial Day Weekend Sale
Save 30%: Use the code SPRING30 at Velomacchi when you checkout and save 30% on everything, sitewide now through May 27. Whether you’re heading into the city on your daily commute or escaping the urban sprawl all together for the weekend, Velomacchi’s tough-as-hell roll-top backpacks, duffle bag and impact sleeves are up to the task. We put them to the test on a seven-day ride from Seattle to Anchorage through British Columbia and the Yukon, and they all came out the other end looking better than us — so yeah, they’re filed tested and Gear Patrol approved. — Bryan Campbell

LifeProof Cases for iPhone X
Save 15%: It’s Memorial Day weekend and for many of us that means a little too good of a time. And maybe a dropped iPhone X and $1,000 down the drain. To guard against such an incident, LifeProof is running a 15-percent-off sale on all its smartphone cases (not just iPhone X case). Also, if you’re looking for a rugged portable Bluetooth speaker, you can get 30-percent off all Aquaphonics speakers. The site-wide sale is running now through next Tuesday, the 29th. — Tucker Bowe

Yeti Hopper Backflip
Save $60: Earlier this year, when Yeti announced a new collection of rugged products it was a burly camping chair called the Hondo that became the newsworthy standout. But it wasn’t the only product revealed — the new collection included wine tumblers, a magnetic waterproof pouch, a tote (which may turn out to be a sleeper), and a backpack version of its popular Hopper soft cooler called the Backflip.

Yeti is credited as the originator of the overbuilt, everything-proof hard-sided cooler and owning one has become imbued with a particular symbolic status. The brand has had to live up to its own reputation with every successive product, and its soft coolers were no exception. The Hopper series has done that, with a puncture-resistant soft exterior called DryHide and super-strong leak-proof zippers. Its soft coolers are lighter and notably more portable, which may make them even more effective in providing practical everyday use.

The Backflip gives the Hopper series even more potential with the addition of backpack straps that make carrying a fully-loaded cooler across longer distances more feasible. The Backflip can accommodate 20 cans at a two-to-one can-to-ice ratio and has multiple handles for hauling and additional webbing for lashing.

Sales on Yeti products are rare, especially on something as new as the Hopper Backflip. Right now, however, Backcountry is offering its customers the chance to take 20 percent off one full-priced item during its Memorial Day Sale and the Backflip, one of Yeti’s newest products, is included in the deal. Use the code MEMORIALDAY20 at checkout, or click the small banner at the top of the screen to apply the discount. — Tanner Bowden

Summer Motorcycle Glove Sale
Save up to 50%: When the hot weather rolls in it’s easy to be tempted into scaling back on the amount of gear you wear in order to stay cool. One important piece of gear people tend to shed first is their gloves — huge mistake. Now consider doing that with your bare hands. There are motorcycle gloves out there made specifically for warm weather riding and today there’s a whole selection on sale at Revzilla.com. So, now you have no excuse to ride bare-handed this summer. — Bryan Campbell

Save 30%: Boat shoes are a solid summer footwear option for good reason: the slip-on style is appropriate in a range of settings and remains comfortable on the hottest of days. The style utilizes the silhouette you know and love, but adds premium materials and quality manufacturing techniques. It has a full-grain leather upper, a lambskin lining and a crepe sole, and features traditional welt construction and a hand-sewn toe. Normally $200, the shoe is 30 percent off at East Dane and now costs $140. A the world of refined slip-ons, this price is hard to beat. — John Zientek

Glycine Airman
Save $1,100: Though the brand is mostly just remembered by hardcore enthusiasts today, Glycine has long been a builder of tool watches since it was founded in 1914. Most notably, in 1953 it created one of the earliest GMT watches: the Airman. The brand continues to produce the Airman today, and through a campaign on Massdrop you have a chance to get the watch for just $550. The watch comes in a bevy of variations; a handful of different color dials are available, and case sizes ranging from 42 to 46mm. You can even choose between the GMT-hand variation or go for the “Purist” version instead, which opts for a 24-hour dial. For a mechanical GMT or 24-hour watch, the $550 price tag is genuinely a fantastic value. — Andrew Connor

Rev’It! Sale
Save up to 50%: Ever since Rev’It! made its way from Europe to the US, there’s been a noticeable effort to tailor new gear to the casual American style. Rev’It! hasn’t stopped making super technical jackets and pants, but what it’s done (and quite brilliantly) is combined the performance of its technical and tactical looking offerings with everyday wardrobes. The Quartz H20 Rain Jacket and Memphis H20 Jeans are exemplary examples of how Rev’It! has pulled off the feat of balancing form and function. Today, on Revzilla each is on sale at 35% and 31% off respectively. — Bryan Campbell

District Vision Kaishiro
Save 41%: District Vision makes good-looking and high performing sunglasses. You’ll see them at the starting line of the New York City Marathon and the Red Hook Crit as well as on the trails with Salomon and at Black Roses running crew practices. The yellow polycarbonate lenses are perfect for nighttime or early morning runs. — Meg Lappe

Osprey Levity Backpack
Save $54: Last summer, when our Outdoors and Fitness Desk attended the biannual tradeshow called Outdoor Retailer — a showcase of thousands of upcoming products and gadgets — we were especially impressed with one backpack out of the hundreds that we saw: the Osprey Levity.

Why? Because it’s an ultralight backpack — Osprey gave it the slightly more hyperbolic “superultralight” descriptor — that packs plenty of features for mainstream hikers to appreciate. Like a pocket-equipped lid, a large expanding front sleeve, side holsters for a water bottle and other gear, and exterior paracord that can be used to lash essentials to the outside of the bag. And the Levity has a mesh back panel that emphasizes comfort and breathability.

Most backpacks that weigh in under two pounds (the Levity is 1.85 pounds in the 45-liter version and 1.95 pounds for the 60-liter) make sacrifices to get there — that often means fewer features and comfort, or expensive materials that drive the price up. These backpacks are often designed by custom makers and have hardcore enthusiasts in mind. However, Osprey has found a firm middle ground in the Levity; it’s still an ultralight bag that won’t be for everyone, but it can also act as an affordable and user-friendly introduction to the often-intimidating world of lightweight backpacking.

Speaking of price, the 60-liter Levity retails for $270, and because it’s a brand new product, it won’t be found in the sale section any time soon. But, right now Backcountry is holding a sale in which you can take 20 percent off one full-priced item using the code MEMORIALDAY20. That can be applied to the Levity, bringing its total down to $216. — Tanner Bowden

Bonavita Electric Pour Over Kettle
Save 52%: Walking the pour over path requires gear, and that gear begets more gear, and that gear makes you wonder if you need another bit of gear and eventually making a cup of coffee becomes a $1,000 endeavor.

But just after choosing your pour over mechanism (the most popular being Chemex, Hario and Kalita), you need something to pour the water onto the grinds — and no, dumping the whole lot of water all at once is not a great idea. A full dump of water doesn’t allow your ground beans to aerate, de-gas or bloom, all fancy terms that, when the appropriate time is taken to pour water over with a bit more finesse, make for much better cups of coffee. Finesse is best achieved by way of a kettle with a gooseneck spout (basically a very thin spout), and that’s exactly what this heavily discounted Bonavita Electric Kettle has.

The kettle, which usually retails for $60, is $30 right now, comes with a two-year warranty, has an auto-shutoff function and brings water to perfect coffee temperature in about 3 minutes (boils in 5!). — Will Price

Dyson V7 Vacuum
Save: $260: I won’t presume, but I for one am not driven to pick up the very newest in vacuums like I might with sneakers or whiskey. But, I do live in an apartment with other humans and dogs and do see the need to have in my possession a vacuum that’s worth a shit.

Thus, eBay brings us Dyson V7 for $191. Released in 2017, the V7 is a monster of a cordless vacuum (not quite as monstrous as the V10, but $500 cheaper) when it comes to suction, function, head rotation and clean dirt ejection. It was launched as the budget version of the V8, so it has a slightly weaker battery and suction in comparison, but is plenty to suck up all manner of everyday dirt, dust and dog hair.

This V7 deal is for manufacturer-refurbished models only, but fear not — refurbs are stringently regulated by both Dyson and eBay, as there’s no incentive for either to sell a shitty version of the product.

To get to the $191 price (that’s with shipping & taxes), use code PMEMDAY at checkout. — Will Price

Save $101: There aren’t too many portable projectors as small and as intuitive as the Nebula Capsule. If you’re looking for another alternative, there’s the Sony MP-CD1 ($399), but that’s more expensive and needs additional accessories, such as a speaker and a laptop/smartphone, to get the most out of it. If you’re even a little bit interested in the Nebula Capsule, today’s a great day to think extra hard if you want to press that “purchase” button. The normally $349 gadget is discounted on Amazon for just $248 — that’s $101 off. This is one of Amazon’s “Deals of the Day,” so don’t expect this deal to last long.

Anker SoundCore Bluetooth Speaker
Save 70%: Anker made a name for itself making good-looking gadgets to compliment your everyday lifestyle and last year, the brand dove into the audio product market. It should come as no surprise the Bluetooth speakers Anker has cranked out are equally thoughtful in design and performance as the rest of its lineup. Which is why today’s deal on the Anker SoundCore Bluetooth Speaker is that much more special because it’s at the lowest price it has ever been at $24, down from $80. Saving 70% on a high-quality portable speaker is hard to pass up. — Bryan Campbell

Tempur-Pedic Mattress Topper
Save up to 47%: Since the dawn of the memory foam mattress, two complaints have bubbled to the surface time and time again — they sleep hot and they don’t provide enough support. Getting a Tempur-Pedic’s mattress topper solves the latter.

By placing a memory foam mattress topper on a traditional spring-frame mattress you get the more solid back and lumbar support you need, and the magnificent melt-into-your-bed effect of the memory foam. The Tempur-Pedic mattress toppers can also just as easily be rolled up and thrown down at a campsite.

All sizes of the Tempur-Pedic topper are on sale now on Amazon for at least 25 percent off the typical price, with some nearly 50 percent off. And as for the second issue of sleeping hot, we recommend extra crisp Snowe percale sheets or a set of Rough Linen sheets. — Will Price

The North Face Base Camp Duffels
Save 25%: The best trips often involve the unexpected, the spur-of-the-moment and the potentially-hazardous, and for that, a durable travel bag is required. Rolling luggage is hassle-free but transforms into unmanageable should a wheel go out. The duffel, however, is usually a safe bet.

The North Face has over 50 years of experience hauling gear to the world’s far-flung locales, so it’s no wonder that its Base Camp Duffel was not only one of the original laminated expedition bags, but also one of the few that has stood the test of time too. The Base Camp comes in a classic cylinder shape made of laminated ballistic nylon and opens wide to reveal a spacious main compartment and a mesh organizing pocket on the interior of the lid.

To fortify the bag against its wheeled rivals, The North Face built the Base Camp with removable backpack straps that provide a less-strenuous method of carrying. Daisy chain attachments, tie-down points and multiple handles are also prominent features — throw the bag on a roof rack, or the back of a mule, and all of your belongings will remain secure. That fancy phone-charging suitcase can’t do that.

Right now, the Base Camp Duffel is on sale at Zappos for 25 percent off in multiple sizes. — Tanner Bowden

Cole Haan Grand Explorer Waterproof Hiking Boot
Save 57%: When the Cole Haan innovation team set out to create a hiking boot, they first consulted professional alpine climber Freddie Wilkinson. The most important aspect of a boot, according to the respected mountaineer, is that it’s waterproof. Also essential is comfort, as blisters can be more than just an annoyance when making first ascents across the world.

Based in New Hampshire, Cole Haan’s innovation team set-out to produce a great casual hiker that would work in all conditions. The style, dubbed the Grand Explorer, features a one-piece upper crafted from Charles F. Stead waterproof suede that is seam sealed for added protection. For comfort, the boot has a custom felted quilted lining, a flexible sole and a cork midsole that will mold to the wearer’s foot.

Normally $350, the Grand Explorer is now 57 percent off at Nordstrom Rack and costs just $150. If you’re in need of a new boot that is both functional and good-looking, this is seriously worth considering. — John Zientek

Adidas Sneakers
Save up to 85%: Adidas’s dominance in the athletic-adjacent sneaker market is known. By way of the UltraBoost lines and its many derivatives, the German sportswear titan has wrestled away firm control of good-looking, comfy sneakers. Most of the premium lines and models start around $120 and work their way toward $200, but right now Barney’s Warehouse has a solid selection at 50 percent off of the sale price. That means pairs like the $240 UltraBoost All-Terrains can be had for as low as $85.

Sizes are clearing quickly, so step on it. Discount applied at checkout. — Will Price

Reigning Champ Wardrobe Basics
Save at least 39%: Founded in British Colombia in 2007, Reigning Champ makes a range of well-crafted basics. Now at Nordstrom Rack, you can save at least 39 percent on a solid selection of the Canadian-made garments with options including tees, shorts, jackets and more. Since prices start at just $29, this is an opportune time to refresh the core of your wardrobe. — John Zientek

LG UltraWide Monitor (34UM88C-P)
Save $245: The LG 34UM88C-P doesn’t have the same level of resolution as the LG UltraFine 4K monitor, but it’s more of a productivity beast. It’s huge with a split-screen mode that makes multitasking really easy. It also has a number of HDMI, USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 2.0 ports so you can connect and charge pretty much all of your devices. It’s decent for playing games, too, although its 60Hz refresh rate won’t be good enough for serious gamers. On LG’s website, the LG 34UM88C-P monitor goes for $700, but you can find it on Amazon for $547. However, if you’re looking for an even better deal, hope on over to eBay — it’s going for as low as $455. It’s a manufacturer refurbished model, granted, but it’s still a great deal. (Plus, eBay offers 30-day money-back return policy, just in case.) — Tucker Bowe

Hario Skerton Coffee Grinder
Save $25: Hario’s Skerton ceramic conical burr grinder has every tiny detail you need in a grinder, but what’s most important is it uses burrs instead of blades, which creates a more even, consistent grind (inconsistent grinds lead to an inconsistent coffee extraction, which creates overly bitterly coffee). Blade grinders work by chopping the beans up, where burr grinders slowly chew them (like a cold-press juicer). Burr grinders also allow for simple adjustments in grind size to experiment with flavor profiles or for different coffee prep styles (espresso included). It’s also small enough to fit just about anywhere and doesn’t generate heat like some electric grinders will (some believe this heat to be detrimental to coffee flavor). Operating is as simple as loading in beans, adjusting grind size and turning in a circle for a few minutes.

If you want to get into coffee but don’t know where to start, this grinder is for you. — Will Price

Save up to 29%: If, like us, you want the bag you carry every day to be tough-as-hell but also look be pretty, and you want it to be packed with pockets and features but also be sleek then the chances are that, like us, you’ll dig nearly everything GORUCK produces.

Ex-special forces soldier Jason McCarthy founded GORUCK in 2008 because he wanted to create a backpack that would function for both servicemen fighting overseas and commuters heading in for a day at the office. Using those design perimeters, McCarthy came up with the GR1, an everyday backpack made of special forces-grade materials including YKK zippers and 1000-denier Cordura fabric.

The GR1 was well received and quickly saw success, so McCarthy expanded his collection and continues to do so today. Right now, a handful of GORUCK’s special-forces-grade bags are on sale from 15 to 29 percent off at Huckberry. There are aviator-style kit bags, a burly gym duffel, a small field pouch for organizing small items, and of course, the GR1. — Tanner Bowden

Save $40: Memorial Day is just around the corner, and the corner just beyond that is the Fourth of July — if you don’t have a cooler ready, you’re upcoming cookout has one arm tied behind its back. We know you likely have your eye on a Yeti, but there are plenty of comparable options that’ll keep your beverages chilled for the duration of your party, and beyond.

Orca coolers are equally impressive. Designed by a team of dedicated outdoorsman and made in the USA, Orca’s coolers use a roto-molded construction and enough insulation to boast ten days of claimed ice retention. Ten days. You’ll get plenty of use out of these burly ice boxes between holidays too because Orca made sure that they were tough enough to toss into a boat or drag over rocks on the way to the campsite. In fact, Orca challenges its users to take its coolers anywhere and everywhere.

Leatherman’s Best-Selling Multi-Tool
Save 20%: Leatherman, like Kleenex and Band-Aid, is one of those brand names that has come to stand for the category of products it produces: multi-tools. That’s because we’ve collectively agreed that Leatherman produces some of the best available, and among the 50-plus tools in its arsenal, the Wave is the best-seller.

The Wave features all the tools one might imagine should be present in a multi-tool: serrated and plain-edge knives, pliers, scissors, a bottle and can opener, wire cutters, a screwdriver, a ruler, a file. Nothing overly-specialized or unnecessarily specific is present, just the essentials. It opens in a butterfly shape; it’s made of stainless steel; it is the classic Leatherman, which makes it the classic multi-tool.

Right now the Wave is on sale for 20 percent off from Leatherman. The multi-tool is four inches when closed, weighs 8.5 ounces and comes with a classic leather sheath and a 25-year warranty. — Tanner Bowden

New Balance ML574v2
Save 25%: While known for performance footwear, New Balance also makes a range of sneakers designed for everyday wear. Before becoming the über-shoe brand it is today, New Balance produced arch supports for the first half of the 20th century. Things changed for the brand when it manufactured the world’s first ripple sole running shoe in 1960. Through the ‘70s the brand grew from a team of six shoe builders to a large-scale operation — now, there are three factories in Maine (Norridgewock, Skowhegan, and Norway), a plant in Boston and another in Lawrence, Massachusetts. There are also factories across the world that produce the brand’s more affordable styles.

One of the brand’s most iconic and affordable everyday styles is the 574 silhouette. First introduced in ’88, the style quickly became one of New Balance’s most popular models. The shoe features a combination suede-nylon upper, an Encap midsole for cushioning and a durable rubber outsole. Now at Zappos, you can save 25 percent on the New Balance ML574v2 sneaker in five different colorways. That means you can pick it up for just $60.

That said, if you’d rather invest in an American-made silhouette, you can pick up the 997 in Khaki and Gray for 31 percent off at End. The slightly sleeker silhouette features a suede upper, a perforated toe box and an Encap midsole. Also, another American-made style just launched today at Todd Snyder. The New Balance + Todd Snyder 998 in Sunset Pink ($218) has a gray and pink suede upper and is limited to 300 pairs. Whatever style you decide on, you’ll be investing in a piece of classically American footwear. — John Zientek

Miir Bags
Save $79: Miir makes commuter and daypacks that are ideal to get you to and from work thanks to bombproof nylon, pockets galore and water resistant zippers. In black or grey, the urban-friendly bags come in four styles: a pouch, daypack, commuter pack and tote. Each is on sale today for up to 50 percent off. If you’re experimenting with bike commuting (it is National Bike to Work Month) this pack will help streamline your morning. — Meg Lappe

Anker LC90 Tactical Flashlight
Save 62%: Before the advent of the smartphone, with its built-in flash, flashlights were an everyday essential. They were kept on bedside tables, in pantry drawers, one in the garage and one in the glovebox — in an emergency, there was no substitute. That’s still true though, despite our complacent notion that a cell phone’s light is a viable stand-in.

It’s time to give back the flashlight its due, and if that means a restock, then Anker’s LC90 is a solid choice. The LC90, currently on sale at Amazon, is super-bright, with an adjustable output of up to 900 lumens that can light up roughly an eighth of a mile’s worth of distance. The tactical flashlight comes with five different modes that include three different brightnesses, a flashing strobe and SOS. Gone are the days of hoarding AAA Duracells — the six-hour battery on this flashlight charges with a micro USB cable. If you need any further convincing, check with the almost 2,000 customers who have purchased and reviewed the Anker LC90 to make it one of top-100 sports and outdoors products on Amazon. — Tanner Bowden

Allen Edmonds Madison Park Wingtip
Save 35%: Dress shoes aren’t an every-season purchase and as such, you should invest in a well-made timeless style. Cap toe shoes are a classic choice, but if you’re looking for something a little more ornate, consider a wingtip. With decorative broguing, they are more visually interesting than their smooth counterparts. A solid American-made option offered by Allen Edmonds is called the Madison Park Wingtip. Available in brown and black colorways, it is now 35 percent off at Nordstrom. That means you can pick up a classy professional shoe for under $250. — John Zientek

John Varvatos Two-Piece Suit
Save 63%: Every guy should own a well-fitting navy suit for professional engagements. Its one of the most versatile suits you can own, working well for business, weddings and nice dinners on the town. John Varvatos offers a great two-piece wool suit with a two-button jacket and slim-fit trousers. Varvatos knows a thing or two about classic menswear: before starting his eponymous label in 2000, he worked for Ralph Lauren has the head of design for the men’s group. A driving force in American menswear, Varvatos balances timeless silhouettes and tailoring with a distinct point of view.

While this suit isn’t necessarily groundbreaking, it’s a classic style you can wear for years. Normally $795, it is now 62 percent off at Nordstrom Rack and costs just $300. A trusted designer, a solid deal and a classic deal — hard to argue with that. — John Zientek

Mountainsmith Scream 55 Ultralight Backpack
Save $60: Ultralight backpacks used to be almost-exclusive fodder for lesser-known brands and custom makers, but now a collection of big companies that are taking the category more seriously are bringing these bags into the mainstream.

Mountainsmith is among that group. This year the company updated its collection of ultralight backpacks, the Scream Series, with all-new materials and features. The backbone of that collection is the Scream 55, which is ordinarily $160 but is currently on sale at Massdrop for $100. The Scream 55 weighs two pounds and 13 ounces but is still notably durable with a coated high-tenacity nylon fabric called Robic that’s bolstered with Aramid yarn woven throughout. It has many of the features that non-ultralighters favor, including multiple access points, a comfortable back panel, a sturdy forward-pull waist belt and an interior hydration sleeve.

Despite its newness, the Scream is decidedly retro. Its grid pattern — a result of the lightweight fabrics it employs — and neon accents are more 1980 than 2018, and its two large, “double-barrel” exterior pockets seem to be a nod at older packs, like Rivendell Mountain Works’ ever-classic Jensen. — Tanner Bowden

Everything You Need for Summer Adventures Is in This Sale
Save up to 30%: Summer is upon us, and so is a surprise sale on a great list of brands including Patagonia, Black Diamond and Marmot. If your adventure kit is in need of one last item or a full restock, chances are you can find it here for up to 30 percent off. — Tanner Bowden

The Powerstation 8x is an external power bank with two USB charging ports and a 15,000mAh capacity, meaning it can charge your smartphone roughly two-to-three times over. The real appeal of the Powerstation 8x, however, is its size. It’s super slim and weighs less than a pound. If you’re somebody who has an old iPhone and its battery doesn’t last the day — get this. You can stick it in your pocket, along with your iPhone, and it’ll give you a more than a normal day’s charge.

Today, You Can Save 52% On Fjällräven’s Most Classic Jacket
Save $105: “We have new fabrics and new materials, but when something works, we’re not afraid of keeping it and staying true to that,” said Henrik Andersson, Fjällräven’s head of Innovation & Design. He was referring to the Swedish outdoor brand’s G-1000 fabric, which is a blend of recycled polyester and organic cotton that is infused with the brand’s proprietary wax blend called Greenland Wax. The material is quintessential Fjällräven, and its potential is perhaps best exemplified in the brand’s classic Greenland Jacket.
The jacket was first introduced in 1968 and was among the first products that Fjällräven’s founder, Åke Nordin, developed. The original jacket was crafted from a heavy-duty material that Nordin was using to build tents. The jacket was touted for its durability by climbers. Today, it’s appreciated by city dwellers and outdoorsman the world over. If you need a lightweight jacket that’s versatile enough for anything that you can throw at it, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better option. Today, you can pick up the Greenland Jacket for 52 percent pff at Mountain Steals in a variety of colors and sizes. — AJ Powell

Save 51%: Canadian badminton ace Jack Purcell designed his eponymous canvas sneaker back in the 1930s. Over the past eight decades, the style has gone essentially unchanged. Bose SoundLink Revolve and Revolve Plus Speaker
Save up to $30: Bose’s newest and best-sounding portable Bluetooth speakers, the SoundLink Revolve ($199 $179) and the SoundLink Revolve Plus ($299 $269), were released just over a year ago, in Spring 2017. The new models differ drastically in design and size of Bose’s previous portable Bluetooth speakers, the SoundLink Mini II ($180) and SoundLink III (now discontinued), as they’re the company’s first cylindrical-shaped Bluetooth speakers. Yes, they play true 360-degree sound, just like an Amazon Echo, but they sound way better. They’re also splash-proof (IPX4), which the Echo is not. The difference between the Revolve and Revolve Plus is the latter is bigger, more powerful and more expensive; it also comes with a handle.
On Amazon right now, both speakers are on sale.

Edgevale Merritt Jacket
Save $150: A good shirt jacket will get you through the times when Mother Nature is a bit fickle — so pretty much all year long. 70 degree days in November? We’ve had them here in the Northeast. 40 degrees during summer? San Francisco is no stranger to colder temps in vernal equinox. This hybrid jacket with moisture-wicking Polartec fabric is comfortable, versatile and reinforced to prevent rips over time. Bring it along to the backcountry or use it as an extra layer for your bike commute. — Meg Lappe

Faherty All Day Short
Save 48%: If you’re anything like us, you expect more from your garments. It’s not enough to have a piece of clothing fit for only a single application — it should be versatile and multipurpose. New York-based Faherty understands your needs and created the All Day short, a hybrid between a swim trunk and a traditional short perfect for summer wear.

This understated short has a nine-inch inseam and is made from a cotton-recycled poly blend with a touch of stretch for comfort. It borrows design elements lifted from traditional shorts like a fly-front zipper, a button closure and side pockets so you can wear them to dinner without looking like you just came from the beach. What’s more, they’re quick-drying, odor repellent and feature easy-draining pockets.

Normally $98, the All Day short is 48 percent off at Nordstrom Rack and only costs $51. If you’re looking for an affordable summer short that does more, this is it. — John Zientek

Sedici Avventura Carbon Helmet
Save $100: Despite being in mass market products for a more than a few years now, carbon fiber, well, anything, tends to be more expensive than products made with more conventional materials. However, because the woven material is lighter and stronger than steel, investing a few extra dollars in a carbon fiber motorcycle helmet is justifiable, even if they are on the higher side of the price spectrum. Which makes the Avventura Carbon Helmet by Sedici a rare find.

Normally, it goes for $280, which is still relatively inexpensive, but today you can snag one for $180. And if you think the lower price means a lesser helmet, know the Sedici meets or exceeds DOT and ECE standards. Is this the beginning of affordable CF products? We hope so. — Bryan Campbell

Victorinox Swiss Army Knives
Save up to 40%: There may be no pocket knife more classic than the Swiss Army Knife. It was the original multi-tool before Leatherman made multi-tools a separate category. In the more than 100 years since Victorinox, the Swiss company behind the red-handled tool created its first blade for the actual Swiss Army; it has produced so many versions of the knife that now one exists for every conceived use. There are knives with pens, knives with USB sticks, knives with golf club head-scrapers.
The original still holds true though, and Victorinox’s Evolution series is an update on that pocket knife that avoids gimmicks — the most notable new feature is an ergonomically-designed handle. Scissors, bottle openers, corkscrews, screwdrivers and of course, knives, are all present in the series. Right now, almost every pocket knife in the collection is up to 40 percent off on Amazon, depending on which model you buy (and how many tools you want in your pocket). — Tanner Bowden

Cheap Patio Furniture
Save up to 70%: Today eBay has a patently absurd count of patio furniture and outdoor accessories on steep, steep discount. Think Adirondack chairs, pool chaises, porch bartops and wannabe ENO hammocks up to 70 percent off, and plenty more.

The catch — this stuff isn’t exactly high design, and we can’t claim it’s all going to last a lifetime. We can guarantee, though, that if you’ve procrastinated and not furnished your back porch yet you’re running dangerously close to being ill-equipped come Memorial Day. We can also guarantee a $1,225 rattan sofa, two chair and coffee table set that’s on sale for $399 is about as good as a deal gets. — Will Price
