Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and deals. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at tig@gearpatrol.com.

Two of our favorite sportswear companies have teamed up to create collections around their favorite cities. Reigning Champ, the minimalist Vancouver based outfit, and Asics, the venerable Japanese sportswear brand, are set to release four collections drawing inspiration from Kyoto, Vancouver, Paris and — of course — Tokyo. The Kyoto Edition is the first of the four to drop, with the city providing the backdrop for the collection, from local textile patterns to the weathered wooden patina Kyoto is known for.

For the runners amongst us, some highlights from the collaboration include a gradient-printed lightweight running jacket, Boro textile-inspired tops and a Gel-Kayano ™ 25 running shoe. For more leisurely pursuits, you can also snap up the retro-feeling Gel-Kayano ™ 5 OG and the elevated tracksuit. Now we just wait for the other three collaborations — but be sure to grab your picks from the Kyoto collection while you can.

Fresh Deals

Seiko Recraft Chronograph
Save 38%: This fun, colorful chronograph watch seems straight out of the 1970s and, with its matching NATO strap, is a perfect way to get into the summer spirit. It exists in Seiko’s retro-inspired Recraft Series and features solar-charged quartz movement — which means it’s highly accurate and hassle-free, never requiring a battery change. At 43.5mm wide in steel, it will wear boldly with short sleeves, and the Seiko name means quality, value, and the respect of the watch crowd. Best of all, it’s on sale now for $220 by using the promo code “DAD” at checkout, 38% off its full retail price of $350. — Oren Hartov

Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T Fleece Sale
Save $50:The Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T fleece pullover is a staple in every man’s closet. Everyone from backpackers to dads, hikers to college students and even Coachella attendees to urbanites have made the style work for them. It’s made from a polyester fleece (constructed from recycled materials), which makes the outside feel as soft as the interior. Right now, grab one for up to $50 off. — Meg Lappe

Saint Unbreakable Gloves
Save 40%: Summer is just about here, and with it, the gorgeous days and rising temperatures that spark the temptation to jump on a motorcycle and just riiiiiide. That heat might also tempt a rider into forgoing the heavy layers of riding armor, but unlike the desire to hit the open road, that’s one summertime desire that should be avoided. Saint Unbreakable’s vintage-style motorcycle gear has often impressed us in the past, and the company’s gloves are no exception; deer skin leather and a Merino wool lining keep things comfortable, while a reinforced double-layer palm and advanced denim construction provide protection for a four-second, 50-meter slide. Better yet: While they normally retail for $130, for a limited time, you can snap them up for $78 at RevZilla. — Will Sabel Courtney

Orient Defender Watch
Save Over 50%: We love a good Orient dive watch around here, but the Seiko subsidiary also makes complicated field watches that are perfect for everyday use. Right now, you can get an Orient Defender for just $104 (black dial) or $102 (grey dial) on Amazon. (There are also other dial color options for a bit more money, including two on matching steel bracelets.) The Defender features a steel 42mm case with 100m of water resistance, a mineral crystal, and the Orient 46B40 automatic movement with day-date display and 24-hour indicator. Lumed sword hands and a screw-down crown at the 3:30 position seal the deal. — Oren Hartov

Timberland x Engineered Garments Boots
Save 50%: Now at Need Supply Co., you can save 50 percent on a pair of limited-edition Timberland boots. Made in collaboration with New York-based brand Engineered Garments, the Waterproof Oxford costs as little as $85 today. Available in sizes 7 to 12, the Waterproof Oxford comes in Black Iris and Wheat colors. The former is 50 percent off, but both are final sale items — so act fast if you want a pair. — John Zientek

DWR Summer Clearance
Save Up to 40%: One of the hallmarks of selling original high design is the associated high price. Design mega-retailer Design Within Reach is no exception, but there are deals to be had during the site’s Summer Clearance Sale. More than 350 products are marked down up to 40 percent off — a significantly larger markdown than DWR typically offers (we see 15 percent off sales with some frequency). Hot tip: the best way to shop the sale isn’t through the sale page. Instead, use the site’s search function (or filter through individual designers) for pieces by a person or company you’re looking for. If it’s on sale, “Summer Clearance Sale” will appear in red letters above the product name. Happy hunting. — Will Price grey_placeholder

BeatsX Wireless Earphones
Save $40:The BeatsX in-ear headphones were released in early 2017 and they were significant at the time because they were the first wireless headphones — bar AirPads — to feature Apple’s W1 chip, which allowed them to pair with any iPhone. They were also sweat resistant, which AirPods weren’t (and still aren’t), so it was much safer to run or workout them. The problem, however, was that at launch the BeatsX were priced at $150, making them a hard sell considering the truly wireless AirPods were just a few bucks more expensive. Now, however, you can get a pair on eBay for just $60. — Tucker Bowe
