Anglepoise Type 1228 Lamp
Save $50 Anglepoise has been making its iconic spring-balanced lamps since the 1930s. The Type 1227 was the company’s first product, and its aluminum body, easy-to-adjust arm, modern aesthetic and durability have made it (and Anglepoise) British design royalty. Sir Kenneth Grange is also British design royalty, and, since he was brought on as Design Director in 2003, he’s been the driving force behind Anglepoise’s enduring popularity.

Grange, whose awards and accolades are too many to count, is thought of as the father of modernist British design. He’s the chief author of a cross-country passenger train, the Royal Post mailbox, London’s Black Taxis and a series of mid-century Kodak cameras just to name a few. Unveiled today, his most recent creation is a collaboration with another of our favorite companies: Huckberry.

Exclusive to Huckberry, the Type 1228 is a simple update to the classic 1227. It keeps with tradition in employing an aluminum body, chrome-plated fittings and a cast-iron weighted base, but it’s given a more colorful appearance with a translucent polypropene shade. The Type 1228 is available now with black, blue or frosted white shades for 15 percent on Huckberry’s site — good for a $50 savings. —Will Price

Sonos Speakers and Home Theater Bundles
Save Up to $200: With the Super Bowl just around the corner, Sonos wants to make sure you’re watching (and more importantly, hearing) the big game in style. That’s why it’s offering a bunch of deals on its speakers. The price of its two big soundbars, the Playbar and Playbase, as well as its big subwoofer, the Sonos Sub, have all been slashed by $100, dropping their prices down from $699 to $599. And if you want its smaller, Alexa-enabled soundbar, the Sonos Beam, you can get that for $349, which saves you $50. The biggest deals are on Sonos’s home theater bundles. You can get a 3.1 system with a Playbase or Playbar and a Sub for $200. There are deals on 5.1 surround system bundles, too.

Nike Zoom Fly Flyknit Sale
Save $50+The Nike Vaporfly 4% sneakers took the world by storm. The shoes have been thoroughly tested and written about by marathoners worldwide — even the New York Times did some heavy duty research on how much these shoes help your performance over 26.2 miles. In the fall of 2018, Nike launched the new Vaporfly 4% Flyknit and the Zoom Fly Flyknit, the latter being the more budget-friendly (albeit still expensive) running shoe that’s fast and light. And right now, the Zoom Fly Flyknit sneakers are down to $104 from $160.

Winter Baselayers
Save up to 50%: Winter can be temperamental. Recently, a weather report for a single week here in the Northeast described temperatures in negative double digits (snow, ice, wind chill) rebounding to the forties (slush, rain, melt). It’s enough to drive one trying to dress for a trip, or even a daily commute, nuts. The shoot-from-the-hip solution might be to seek out the single most versatile piece of clothing available, but you’ll be hard pressed to find one thing that can handle winter’s erratic mood swings. Aim for a well-rounded system of layers that can be added or subtracted based on the day, starting with the baselayers.
Baselayers — long johns, long underwear, etc. — are the foundation of a winter outdoor kit. They’re worn directly next to the skin, they’re thin, they provide warmth and they breathe and wick away moisture. The best are usually, but not always, made of merino wool, while the worst are made of cotton. Don’t buy cotton baselayers. They’ll undoubtedly be cheaper, but they’ll leave you chilled the minute they dampen with sweat.
Yes, the alternatives are pricier, but they’ll last longer, and they’ll be warmer, which is the entire point. Right now there are lots of great options available at Backcountry for notable discounts too, including midweight tops and bottoms from Smartwool, a lightweight tee from Icebreaker and a full-on onesie by Airblaster. Discounts range up to 50 percent and more, but you’ll want to hunt around for the right size. — Tanner Bowden
