A Texas-Based Indie Watchmaker Releases a Customizable Pilot’s Watch
DuFrane Watches’ Bergstrom is the Texas-based indie watchmaker’s take on the pilot’s watch. Coming in at 41.5mm in diameter it’s moderately sized, but the thin, coin-edged bezel allows for a large, legible dial. Inside ticks away an ETA 6498-1, a manual-winding movement with a 46-hour power reserve and tons of finishing touches like gold engraving, blued screws and Geneva stripes, all visible through a transparent case back.

Though the overall design of the Bergstrom is reminiscent of an archetypal pilot’s watch, buyers can choose between different options, making their timepiece unique. Three dial designs are available, while the case finish can be had in both matte stainless steel or matte bronze. You can also opt between a standard second sub-dial or a “horizon dial” modeled after an aircraft’s attitude indicator. In addition to the watch, you even get a Chromexel leather strap, a suede strap and a leather watch wallet — given the Bergstrom’s $875 starting price it’s an exceptional value for the money. And given that only 300 pieces are available, you’ll likely never see another person with the same exact timepiece on their wrist.

Save up to 52%: Allen Edmonds crafts some of the best American-made Goodyear welted shoes available from its Port Washington, Wisconsin factory. As such, the company has been a staple of the American footwear industry for over 95 years. If you’re in the market for a new pair of well-made shoes, Nordstrom Rack is offering up to 52 percent off classic Allen Edmonds styles. From loafers to bluchers to derbies, there’s something for everyone at a solid discount, but don’t wait long because this sale won’t be around long. — John Zientek

Anker Nebula Capsule
Save $101: There aren’t too many portable projectors as small and as intuitive as the Nebula Capsule. If you’re looking for another alternative, there’s the Sony MP-CD1 ($399), but that’s more expensive and needs additional accessories, such as a speaker and a laptop/smartphone, to get the most out of it. If you’re even a little bit interested in the Nebula Capsule, today’s a great day to think extra hard if you want to press that “purchase” button. The normally $349 gadget is discounted on Amazon for just $248 — that’s $101 off. This is one of Amazon’s “Deals of the Day,” so don’t expect this deal to last long.

BioLite Camping Gear
Save $145: As a company, BioLite lies at the nucleus of the three-circle Venn diagram of camping, tech and energy and its products, perhaps most notably the CampStove 2, demonstrate it. The CampStove 2 is the latest update of BioLite’s first camping product. It’s a cylindrical, canister-like stove with an orange battery pack attached to its back that burns wood to cook food and boil water, without producing smoke and while creating energy that can be used to charge a phone or other device via USB. As with any quality camping product, it packs down small and weighs less than what should be possible.

In recent years BioLite has expanded its collection to tackle other camping and energy needs with a unique offering of lighting products. At the heart of that ecosystem is the BaseLantern XL, a flat (as opposed to round) lantern that stands on two collapsible legs and offers a range of illumination settings that can be controlled on the unit or from a well-designed Bluetooth app. The BaseLantern can emit a full spectrum of colorfully-hued light, which makes it fit for use in the home and at parties, as well as in the backcountry. Oh, and yes, it also can charge phones and devices.

These two products together would regularly cost $260, (which is a great value considering their level of technical sophistication). However, right now you can pick up both at the same time along with a handful of accessories including a $50 cooking pot to function with the CampStove 2, a coffee press and a set of small stringed area lights that work with the BaseLantern, for $200. Purchased separately, the entire package would cost $345 — that’s 42 percent or $145 in savings. — Tanner Bowden

Anker SoundCore Bluetooth Speaker
Save 70%: Anker made a name for itself making good-looking gadgets to compliment your everyday lifestyle and last year, the brand dove into the audio product market. It should come as no surprise the Bluetooth speakers Anker has cranked out are equally thoughtful in design and performance as the rest of its lineup. Which is why today’s deal on the Anker SoundCore Bluetooth Speaker is that much more special because it’s at the lowest price it has ever been at $24, down from $80. Saving 70% on a high-quality portable speaker is hard to pass up. — Bryan Campbell

Tempur-Pedic Mattress Topper
Save up to 47%: Since the dawn of the memory foam mattress, two complaints have bubbled to the surface time and time again — they sleep hot and they don’t provide enough support. Getting a Tempur-Pedic’s mattress topper solves the latter.

By placing a memory foam mattress topper on a traditional spring-frame mattress you get the more solid back and lumbar support you need, and the magnificent melt-into-your-bed effect of the memory foam. The Tempur-Pedic mattress toppers can also just as easily be rolled up and thrown down at a campsite.

All sizes of the Tempur-Pedic topper are on sale now on Amazon for at least 25 percent off the typical price, with some nearly 50 percent off. And as for the second issue of sleeping hot, we recommend extra crisp Snowe percale sheets or a set of Rough Linen sheets. — Will Price

Arc’teryx Sale
Save 30%: Arc’teryx is definitely in the upper echelon of outdoor gear, which is precisely why the sale going on over at backcountry caught our eye. — Bryan Campbell

5 Awesome Coolers You Can Get on Sale Now
