Concept designs usually focus on flagship rides such as sedans, coupes, SUVs, supercars, and more. Rarely do we see cool ones made for pickup trucks, but when one pops up, it can be a hit or miss affair. That does not seem to be the case with the SKODA MOUNTIAQ as it teases a bold new look. The company reveals that this concept pickup truck is the work of 35 apprentices from the Czech carmaker’s vocational school. It seems that whatever their teaching is being put to good use as shown by the aforementioned ride.
Using the SKODA KODIAQ as an inspiration, the MOUNTIAQ is roughly as big as the mid-size SUV. Likewise, in order to make room for the truck bed, the cabin is just enough for two people. It is equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI engine that will reportedly manage a 187-horsepower output. The chassis rides on top of four 17-inch Rockstar II wheels. Each one sports chunky off-road tires that will surely take you wherever adventure wants to.
No need to bring a flashlight to check under the hood, because a strip of LEDs will illuminate everything. Next, let’s circle back to see the hidden compartments underneath the metal bed liner of the truck bed. LED light bars hang on each side, which is handy in when loading stuff in the dark. Other exterior details include a snorkel intake, a bull-bar up front, a winch, and a light bar sitting on the roof. Finally, the SKODA MOUNTIAQ touts an interior mostly in black with orange accents and stitching.
