Swiss watchmaker Baume & Mercier is partnering with American icon, Indian Motorcycle, to create a series of chronographs. The resulting Clifton Club Indian is the ideal timepiece for wearing both on and off the saddle, as it combines the watchmaker’s penchant for striking design with the kind of functionality and utility you’d expect from a motorcycle-ready timepiece.

At 44mm in diameter the Club has a lot of wrist presence, but given that its 13.3mm it’s still incredibly wearable and perfect for sliding under the sleeve of a motorcycle jacket. All three Clifton Club variants sport dials adorned with colorful accents, including a subtle “I” modeled after Indian’s original insignia as a counterweight on the second hand, and features snailed metallic sub-dials for the chronograph functions that have a clean, industrial look. Not unlike the exposed v-twin engine of an Indian Scout, an open-dial version shows off a peek at the watch’s remarkable engine inside: a Swiss-made automatic chronograph moving at a high-frequency 28,800 beats per hour.

The watch can be attached to either a stainless steel bracelet or a leather strap made from supple (yet durable) Horween leather. All versions of the Clifton Club Indian will retail at $3,900, an exceptional value for an automatic chronograph with this level of fit and finish.
