Roomba has dominated the robot vacuum market so thoroughly it’s become a generic trademark. Ask a group of people what the best robo-vacuum is and they’d probably scratch their heads, but they almost certainly know what a Roomba is. This all said, iRobot’s (the company that makes Roombas) prized floor cleaner does not come cheap. Luckily, three of its models — the budget-conscious 690, the multi-floor cleaning 960 and the all-powerful 980 — are discounted up to 25 percent off today. Below are the functional differences between the three discounted models.
Roomba 690: the most affordable, baseline Roomba. It cleans all floor types, runs for 60 minutes, is controllable via an app, charges itself and is schedulable.
Roomba 960: the second most powerful Roomba to date features all the things the 690 features and tacks on far more powerful cleaning and suction, multi-room mapping capabilities, 15 minutes extra runtime and a recharge and resume cleaning option.
Roomba 980: the most powerful Roomba to date features all the things the 690 and 960 (I know that’s confusing) models feature and adds on a two-hour runtime, twice the suction of any other Roomba and a sensor that recognizes carpets and cranks suction to maximum.
