Levi’s Wellthread and Outerknown just released six new garments for spring, expanding on the successful first collection. The core piece of the new release is casual Western shirt the comes in four colorways. All of the shirts are designed to be fully recyclable meaning each component of the shirt — fabric, thread, buttons, tags — can eventually be repurposed. Outerknown likely opted for buttons over the traditional Western snaps for this reason. Three of the Wellthread Western shirts are made with Levi’s Waterless cotton which utilizes 70 percent less water than conventional indigo-dyed cotton.

Another feature of the new release is cotton-linen blends. One of the Wellthread Western shirts comes in a blend that has 28 percent linen, and the season’s jean and jacket styles come in a blend that has 42 percent linen. This is a reflection of the brands expanding their recyclable materials strategy to include linen, which can be recycled together with cotton. Also notable: the Wellthread Trucker and 511 Slim Fit jean come in a seasonally-appropriate off-white colorway. The garments are actually undyed, showcasing natural color and variation while also saving water.

The Trucker and jean are unique pieces made for the warmer months, and they are offered at the same price point as the indigo-dyed styles. And, the Wellthread Trucker is a great casual shirt for anyone, blending typical Western styling with a more conventional button-front. If you’re looking for a great everyday shirt, this is it — the fact that it’s sustainably-made is just a huge plus.
