Just because it’s Prime Day doesn’t mean that Amazon is the only place to score a midsummer deal. Mountain Steals, a site that consistently hosts significant savings on outdoor gear, is offering up an extensive collection of items from Mountain Hardwear that are marked down by up to 55 percent — and you won’t need a membership to get the discount.
Mountain Hardwear was founded back in 1993 when a group of employees defected from Sierra Designs as the company’s owner, The North Face, faced bankruptcy. Like so many founders of outdoor companies, they disagreed with the direction that they saw the company going in and believed that they could do better, and make better gear, on their own.
It’s now 25 years later, and all three brands are alive and well and the founders of Mountain Hardwear have proven their vision many times over. We’re regularly impressed with the gear and apparel it produces, and with this sale, you can get some of its best products for a lot less. The selection includes one of our favorite down jackets and one of the best rain jackets of 2018 and an awesome lightweight hoody that held up to some of our recent mountain bike testing. Our five favorite items are highlighted below, but check out the full sale if you’re in need of something specific.
