Quick Take: Totaling 24 models across five available case sizes, Breitling’s new Superocean collection offers a dive watch in sizes and colors for just about every taste — provided you’re into the modern, bold part of the Breitling aesthetic. The biggest watch of the bunch, the Breitling Superocean 48, is a little different than the rest with its titanium case, ceramic bezel insert and bezel lock that gives its imposing 48mm case an even funkier, more technical aspect.

The remaining models differ in case size and water-resistance ratings, but are similar in aesthetics and most other respects. While sourced movements help keep prices down, all of the new Breitling Superocean watches are COSC chronometer-certified.

Who It’s For: Most of the new Breitling Superocean watches are close to the brand’s entry point at around or well under $4,000. In general, they will appeal to the type of watch guy or gal into tough dive watches that the brand does so well. With sizes ranging from 36mm versions to Schwarzenegger-sized 48mm, there’s probably a Supercoean for just about any wrist size. That said, some consumers might have felt that 40mm would have been just right.

Key Features: The hulking 48mm version is water-resistant to 300m and something of an outlier among the collection in several ways. While the rest are all in stainless steel, variously black DLC-coated or not, the Superocean 48 is in black DLC-coated titanium, which should help reduce its heft. It also features a blue ceramic bezel insert and a protruding lock on the lefthand side of the case to lock the bidirectional rotating bezel.

The remaining four models are in steel and have various water-resistance ratings commensurate with case size, with 2,000m for the 46mm version, 1,000m for the 44mm, 500m for the 42mm, and a still quite respectable 200m for the 36mm version. Unlike the 48mm version, all other models have unidirectional rotating bezels. All the new models feature the Breitling Caliber 17 (based on the familiar ETA 2824-2 automatic movement) with 38 hours of power reserve.

Prices for the new collection start at $3,450 for the 42mm version on a Diver Pro II rubber strap and go up from there depending on whether the bracelet has a tang buckle or folding clasp, with the 36mm and 42mm versions on steel bracelet coming in at $3,950 and $4,200 for the 44mm on steel bracelet. The Superocean 46 in black or blue costs $4,850.
