No matter the season, location, altitude or terrain, KEEN’s footwear has always been designed to live up to a variety of environments. It started in 2003 with the KEEN NEWPORT, a sandal that could help keep you cool on a summer day but more importantly, live up to the challenge of keeping you safe and secure on a rigorous hike. With a brand ethos to make products for a healthy lifestyle, KEEN ticks the box by making sure there is a shoe for every adventurous occasion. In that spirit, and to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of KEEN’s ultimate outdoor sandal, we’ve made a list of some of our favorite outdoor destinations — for a day hike, weekend getaway or a longer (more tropical) trek — and the shoes we’d take along for the journey.

Best Day Hikes x KEEN TARGHEE III

The KEEN TARGHEE III is designed for all-terrain. It’s tough, waterproof and breathable thanks to the KEEN.DRY membrane, has a leather mud shield and an injected TPU heel-capture system for added stability. It will most assuredly do the trick for any rigorous hike and it’s our pick to take along whether in the Pacific Northwest or our home state, New York.
Mailbox Peak, Washington: This challenging 9-mile hike, a cool 45 minutes from Seattle, offers a 360 degree view of the north and central Cascades at the top.
Anthony’s Nose Hike, New York: Part of the Appalachian Trail, the view from the top overlooks Bear Mountain Bridge.
Fermilab, Illinois: Chicago may lack elevation, but it has some beautiful scenery — that includes Bison gazing along the prairie at the very pretty Fermilab trail.

Best Long Weekends x KEEN NEWPORT

KEEN’s classic sandal, the KEEN NEWPORT, was created to be just as safe as a traditional hiking boot and it is. It has excellent traction thanks to multi-directional lug pattern and razor siping, not to mention a TPU stability shank. It will take you in and out of water seamlessly as well if you end up in a wet climate or trudging through a creek or two.

Vancouver: A hop and skip away from Whistler, Vancouver offers the best natural escape with all of the offerings of a world-class city.
Naples: A central location to hike Mt Vesuvius or catch a boat to rocky Capri for the afternoon, bustling Naples also boasts the reward of excellent carb-loading.
Zurich: Centrally-set in Western Europe, Switzerland’s most metropolitan city is still just a quick train ride away from some of the most epic hikes the Alps have to offer.

Best Tropical Adventures x KEEN EVOFIT ONE

The KEEN EVOFIT ONE is the ultimate sandal for warmer weather pursuits. Offering a sock-like fit, it is ultra-flexible for optimal active comfort. Equipped with the same tread you would expect from all of the brand’s footwear, it is a true high-performance sandal. It features a superior lace-capture system, natural odor control and TPU reinforcement for added durability. It’s right at home hiking through waterfalls, trekking through the jungle or simply hitting the beach.

Bajos del Toro Cloud Forest, Costa Rica: Filled with lush vegetation and impressive waterfalls, Costa Rica offers the best for those who like hiking and don’t mind a little humidity.
Tom Moore’s Jungle, Bermuda: Only an hour and a half flight from New York City, this tiny rock island has everything from SUP to ocean kayaking, beach hikes and sailing. Tom Moore’s Jungle has particularly beautiful caves hidden throughout.
Koh Samui, Thailand: Thailand offers no shortage of water sports, not to mention beautiful scenery and some excellent beach camping. Thailand’s second largest island, Koh Samui has some pretty dense rain forests along with palm-lined beaches.
