The brand’s most well-known style is the Original 500 boot, a comfortable pull-on style with a slip-resistant TPU outsole. Now at Zappos, you can save 30 percent on this classic lightweight model in a range of colorways. Seiko Prospex SRPB97
Save $210: The Seiko Prospex SRPB97 “Orange Samurai” is exactly what you want in a summertime timepiece. It has a boldly-colored orange dial, runs Seiko’s proven 4R35 automatic movement and has a chunky case to keep it that movement safe at depths up to 200 meters (not to mention the occasional careless knock here or there). Best of all it’s cheap. Right now, thanks to Macy’s “Friends & Family” sale, you can get for an extra 25 percent off, when you use the code FRIEND at checkout. That takes the price down to just $315. And if orange isn’t exactly your thing, the discount extends to tons of other Seiko dive watches. — Andrew Connor

MSR WhisperLite Universal Stove
Save $52: Every backpacker is familiar with MSR’s WhisperLite stoves, period. They’re relied upon daily by hikers, mountaineers and campers across the globe, primarily because they’re lightweight, compact and remarkably easy to repair (even in the field). The Universal is perhaps the most multifaceted stove in the WhisperLite family — it can burn using either liquid fuel or gas (the original stove, now 35 years young, relies solely on liquid). That gives users the ability to adjust their backcountry kit depending on the requirements of a particular trip and use whichever fuel is most easily available.

Right now, the WhisperLite Universal, normally $140, is on sale for $110 at Mountain Steals. Enter the code MAY20 at checkout though and you’ll receive another twenty percent off, bringing the Universal down to an all-time low of $88. It’s a great deal, especially considering it might be the last camp stove you’ll ever need. — Tanner Bowden

Arc’teryx Packing Organizers
Save up to 31%: Even if you aren’t normally an obsessive organizer, the benefits of packing cubes cannot be overstated. In this age of random luggage searches and especially for anyone who takes extended trips, compartmentalizing different clothing and other essentials does wonders. There are many packing cube brands out in the world — Eagle Creek’s line of packing organizers is, dollar-for-dollar and in terms of variety, nearly unbeatable — but today you can upgrade to Arc’teryx organizers thanks to the below deals we found. Do yourself a favor: next time you travel, keep things in good order and avoid pawing through a wardrobe mélange. — Nick Caruso

Hario V60 Coffee Dripper

Save 15%: It’s difficult not to overuse the words “classic” and “iconic” when describing the products under Herman Miller’s design footprint. If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, it is perhaps the most famous producer of mid-century modern furniture ever. Purveyors of Charles and Ray Eames’s iconic lounge chair, molded plastic chair and charming Hang-it-All coat rack, as well as Isamu Noguchi’s ubiquitous coffee table and the beautiful, intuitive Line console. Perhaps more impressive than its distant past is the brand’s sustained run of performance — its office chairs are considered the best by everyone except, maybe, the competition).

Our “Editor’s Choice” Best Down Jacket Is Currently 25% Off
Save 45%: By most accounts, the Arc’teryx Thorium AR looks like your standard down jacket. But underneath an unassuming exterior lies a technically advanced jacket built specifically with versatility in mind. The “AR” at the end of the jacket’s name signifies “All Round,” meaning that Arc’teryx designed the jacket to function well across a number of different activities. One of the most interesting features of the Thorium AR is the combination of down and synthetic fill. In most cases, down and synthetic insulations are as separate as church and state. In the case of the Thorium AR Hoody however, they work together to strategically provide warmth and breathability where you need it most. These features secured the Thorium AR the “Editor’s Choice” spot on our list of the best down jackets of 2018. — AJ Powell

The 7 Best Daypacks You Can Buy on Sale Now
Save up to 50%: The daypack is second only to boots in essential hiking gear. Here are seven of our favorites that are all currently on sale for as much as 50 percent off. — Tanner Bowden

Instant Pot Ultra
The cooking multitool that launched a thousand big brand knockoffs sits comfortably on its throne. Though some of the appliances it claims to replace are, well, suspect (is an “egg cooker” not just a pan?), there’s no denying you’ll be able to purge at least one cabinet of cumbersome kitchen appliances after buying. Everyone is using the Instant Pot, and we’ve only begun to scratch the surface (40-day black garlic in six hours, folks). Apart from the bevy of stuff you’ll get to finally toss out, you get, among many, many other functions, a machine that’s capable of slow-cooking lamb shank to delicious perfection and boil an egg faster than your stove can (8 minutes!).

The Instant Pot Ultra, the brand’s newest and most functionally versatile model, is on sale now at its lowest price ever. — Will Price

Garmin Sale
Save $50+: Garmin is known for its spot-on GPS tracking — most notably for its Forerunner series, as well as its Fenix series. The brand also makes budget friendly trackers that monitor any exercise you want to test. On JackRabbit today, you can save $50 to $200 off these reliable and durable watches. — Meg Lappe

Alternative Apparel Franchise Zip-Up Hoodie
Save 58%: When I was living on the West Coast, one of my close friends was a religious devotee of Alternative Apparel hoodies. I never really understood it until the brand opened its boutique in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. My friend was stocking up on some new zip hoodies, so I decided to tag along and see what the fervor was about.

The hoodie designs are dead simple. They feature a one-way zipper, front hand pockets, raglan sleeves and a tonal drawstring. But the fabric is what makes these hoodies special. It’s a cotton-poly French terry that is ridiculously soft. Alternative Apparel even claims the material is resistant to pilling.

Though I didn’t pick up a hoodie that day, I couldn’t stop thinking about how good the fabric felt. So when I got my next paycheck, I picked one up for myself and it quickly became my go-to layer for lazy weekend mornings, casual afternoons and chilly evenings on the beach. If you want to try one of these hoodies out for yourself, you don’t have to wait until you get paid because Nordstrom Rack is having a great sale — you can pick one up for just $23. — John Zientek

Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket
Save $70: The Nano Puff Jacket runs typically for $199, but right now you can score one for 35 percent off in last season’s colors at Backcountry. It’s one of those if-it-ain’t-broke pieces that Patagonia launches every season in new colors but the guts of the jacket remain the same. You’ll never need to update it either because Patagonia’s zero-questions repair program will take care of any fixes as it continues to age. (I’ve taken advantage of this multiple times, and my jacket has the new zipper and patch to prove it.) — Tanner Bowden

Classic Bell Helmet Sale
Save up to 28%: Today, on Revzilla, you can get classic and vintage inspired Bell Helmets for up to 28% off and save around $100. — Bryan Campbell

Lodge Cast-Iron Dutch Oven
Save $26: Beyond a chef’s knife, and maybe your trusty cast-iron skillet, a Dutch oven is the most important (read: versatile) tool in the kitchen. Any chef worth their salt will recommend one of two French brands – Staub or Le Creuset – but this 5.5-quart, budget-friendly version from Lodge is just $34 right now. It may not look as pretty on your stovetop. But it cooks chili just fine. — Jack Seemer

Eddie Bauer Stowaway Packable 20L
Save 50%: This Eddie Bauer Stowaway Packable 20L wasn’t exactly a bank-breaker to start with, but now it’s half off at only $15. The lightweight ripstop polyester is perfect for taking the punishment of day hikes, travel and commutes, all while ridding your conscience of any guilt if it gets too beat up. Because, again, it’s just $15 — get two. — Bryan Campbell

Char-Griller Kamado Grill
Save $45: Due to reasons unknown to me, the Big Green Egg has utterly dominated the kamado grilling space since its popularity explosion in the early aughts. For the uninitiated, a kamado grill as we know them stateside is a very heavy egg-shaped outdoor grill that performs like an oven, smoker and high-temp grill rolled into one. The oval design allows heat to rise from its source at the base and flow up through the grates to your food, then up to the roof of the dome, where it’s promptly ushered back down the walls, into the base, to repeat the process again and again. These types of grills are traditionally made of insulating, but fragile ceramics; this is where Char-Griller’s Akorn kamado differentiates itself. The Akorn opts for three layers of 22-gauge steel with a porcelain-coated interior and powder-coated exterior. The result is a kamado that’s significantly lighter, significantly more affordable and, for most grillers (myself included), and unnoticeably different cooking experience. Char-Griller also throws in cast-iron grates (this should be more commonplace than it is) and a removable heating rack, both of which do not come standard with a Big Green Egg, which already runs almost $600 more than the Akorn.

Char-Griller’s affordable Akorn kamado is $45 more frugal today on Amazon. — Will Price

Sonos Play:1 Speaker
Save $50:The Sonos Play:1 speaker remains a terrific entry-level speaker for the home. It touts the same audio abilities as the new Sonos One, just without Alexa voice commands (which could be a good or bad thing depending on how you plan on using the speaker). The Play:1 speaker usually costs $199, but you can buy a brand new one on eBay right now for $149. If you missed the super sales during the holiday period, this is great chance to snag a discounted Sonos speaker.

Plantronics Voyager 8200 UCs
Save $38: The Plantronics Voyager 8200 UCs are active noise-canceling headphones designed for office settings. You can read our full review of the headphones here, but in a nutshell, they have a four-mic array so phone calls are crystal clear; they can sync via Bluetooth to multiple devices at the same time, say your phone and computer; and they’re Skype for Business certified. If you’re looking for more professional ANC headphones (in abilities, not in looks) than Bose’s or Sony’s offerings, these Plantronics are a great choice. And now you can pick them up for a few bucks off on Amazon today.

Asics Sale
Save 40%: Some of Asics’ best selling sneakers are on sale today. Grab a pair of the GEL-Nimbus 19, down from $160 to just $99 or the Gel-Kayano 24, down to $120 from $160. Your joints will thank you. — Meg Lappe |

Dyson Vacuums
Save up to 28%: Dyson needs no introduction; for years its highly-technical, highly-effective vacuums have been the gold standard for de-nastifying your home’s various surfaces. As such, that means a lofty price tag, but every so often Amazon offers some reasonable discounts making these vaunted vacs more accessible. As it so happens, you can get solid savings on three Dysons: both the V6 and V7 variants of the hair-sucking cordless Animal Vacuum (the former is refurbished) and the feature-packed Big Ball Canister. — Andrew Connor

Triumph Quilted Barbour Jacket
Save 40%: When two storied brands get together to make a product, it’s not always guaranteed it’ll be worth throwing down the extra cash for the special collaboration. But when those two brands are British icons Triumph Motorcycles and Barbour, that’s not the case. What’s more is today, you can get their collaborative waxed cotton jacket for 40% off and save $200 in the process. The motorcycle jacket is TriTex waterproof, windproof and comes with removable CE certified D3O protectors at the elbows, shoulders and back, so you know it’s a legitimate motorcycle jacket and not just a vintage-inspired fashion statement. — Bryan Campbell

J.Crew Factory Sale
Save 50%+: Let’s get straight to the point — J.Crew Factory, the familiar designer’s online outlet, is currently offering 50 percent off on new styles for summer. It’s a suitable opportunity to refresh your work week look with linen shirts and seersucker stripes and prep for warm weather weekends with aloha prints and solid polos. But J.Crew’s sale offers much more than that, and right now you can use the code MOREPLZ at checkout for an additional 20-40 percent off the already-discounted price when you buy more than one item. — Tanner Bowden

Ray-Ban Aviator
Save 30%: Since 1936, aviator sunglasses have protected the eyes of pilots across the world. The original Bausch and Lomb model was branded ‘Ray-Ban’ upon release to the public, and over the later half of the 20th century, it became a staple style for civilians. The design hasn’t changed that much and features convex tear-drop lenses and thin metal frames. Now at Nordstrom Rack, you can save 30 percent on a pair of classic Ray-Ban aviators. Available with both tortoiseshell and black temple tips, this iconic style is now only $105. — John Zientek

Poppin Peak Desk Riser
Save $100: Whether at your cozy home office or at work, remaining seated for hours on end is no bueno. But, frankly, no one wants a purely stand-up desk. Despite what the internet may tell you, you are allowed to sit down at a desk now and then.

That’s where Poppin’s Peak adjustable height desk riser comes in. When in its lowered position, the contraption is just a monitor and keyboard stand — but pull a lever and lift to one of twelve different heights (a quiet thank you from my fellow short folk). The Peak desk lifter comes in small and medium sizes (get medium if you have two monitors), white and black colors, holds north of 30 pounds and lets off an industrious “I get shit done” vibe. It’s also $100 cheaper right now (with free shipping). — Will Price

SeaVees Sale
Save 20%: In 1964, SeaVees launched its first lifestyle shoe — way before the Nike Cortez and Adidas NMDs took over your Instagram feed. While today we wouldn’t even flinch to think about wearing sneakers every day, in the 60s, it just wasn’t the norm. With retro-like vibes, the Legend sneaker from SeaVees worked then, as it does now, for everything from beach trips to laid-back summer Fridays. A variety of colors and styles are on sale right now for 20 percent off, just in time for the summer. — Meg Lappe

R.M. Williams Class RM Leather Chelsea Boots
Save 20%: In 1932, Reginal Murray Williams founded his eponymous brand in Adelaide, South Australia offering saddles, riding boots and other leather goods for cattlemen. The boots, in particular, were a hit. Made from a single-piece leather upper, they had a clean silhouette, a simple pull-on style and superior durability. And over the past eight decades, the design hasn’t changed that much.

In recent years, the brand received investment from L capital — a private-equity fund sponsored by LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) — along with IFM Investors and Hugh Jackman. The influx of resources and capital allowed R.M. Williams to expand on a global scale, offering its iconic boots to a much wider audience. You can pick up a pair at East Dane, where the classic Chelsea boot style is now on sale. Available in both brown full-grain leather and black suede, it features elastic insets, branded pull-tabs and leather soles. The present sizes skew towards smaller feet and the current sale offers 20 percent off — that’s savings of $99. — John Zientek

Shoe Trees
Save 55%: Nice shoes are wonderful. They keep you looking like you care about your appearance (even when you don’t), they’re cozy and they last longer than cheap shoes. They also cost piles of money.

If you’re in the business of buying said shoes you’d better have shoe trees to keep them healthy. Yes, healthy. For the uninitiated: a shoe tree mimics a foot in the shoe and eliminates any creasing or folding of the material that may occur. If it goes on long enough, this folding and creasing can result in permanent folds and creases even when you’re wearing the shoe, particularly if you live in an area where salts or other grimey substances can wedge themselves in those nooks and begin eating away at the shoe. Also, because they’re made of cedar, they keep whatever foot smells your shoe may carry (we’re not judging) at bay.

Use code FRIEND55 on these Jos. A Bank shoe trees at checkout for 55 percent off the sticker price. — Will Price

The Blunt Classic has a solid, non-collapsing handle and a radial tensioning system that’s meant to keep the umbrella as taut as possible when open and, supposedly, has been tested at winds up to Force 11 (72 miles per hour) winds. — Andrew Connor

Its roots go back over 150 years to when American entrepreneur Henry Lee Norris founded the brand in Scottland in 1856, calling it The North British Rubber Company. While the brand’s iconic Original Rain Boot was introduced in 1956, the design hasn’t changed much in over half a century: it’s a combination of 28 parts assembled over three days.

Now at East Dane, you can get up to 40 percent off three of its classic pull-on styles including the Original Refined Chelsea Boot, the Original Chelsea Boot and the Original Short Boot. Time-tested and durable, these rain boots set the standard by which all others are judged. — John Zientek

Sonos Play:1 Speaker

It touts the same audio abilities as the new Sonos One, just without Alexa voice commands (which could be a good or bad thing depending on how you plan on using the speaker). The Play:1 speaker usually costs $199, but you can buy a brand new one on eBay right now for $149. If you missed the super sales during the holiday period, this is great chance to snag a discounted Sonos speaker.

Arc’teryx Veilance Casing Card Wallet
Save 25%: Eight years ago I invested in my first minimalist wallet. After years of using a chunky bi-fold, making long drives across the Pacific Northwest, my lower-back was worse for wear. I wanted a wallet I could carry in my front pocket, something that wouldn’t throw my hips out of alignment while sitting, so I got a small card holder. Over the years, I’ve used a variety of leather minimalist wallets with both glued and stitched constructions, but they all eventually fell apart due to failure of seams and stitching.

Recently I encountered the Arc’Teryx Veilance Casing Card Wallet. Unlike traditional card holders, it features a laminate construction that is both low-profile and durable. I was very skeptical of the design at first, based on previous experience with glued wallets, but Veilance Chief Brand Director Taka Kasuga showed me his personal Casing Card Wallet which had been used for over a year. It had stretched to accommodate his cards but didn’t show any signs of structural failure.

The wallet utilizes a lamination process that fixes Veilance-spec water-resistant Horween leather to a durable nylon backing. The construction is precise and clean, and the design features two card slots which can hold up to four cards each. It has no exterior branding, so it can be whatever you want it to be. Use it as your daily wallet with suits or jeans, or use it as an extra wallet for business events or travel. The aesthetic is far more versatile than other options on the market.

Now at East Dane, the Casing Card Wallet is 25 percent off and costs $131. While this is admittedly still a lot of money, it is one of the best leather card holders you can buy. — John Zientek

Huckberry’s Mystery Ranch Bag Sale
Save up to $85: GoRuck is known for making some of the most durable bags on the market, but the brand isn’t without its competitors. One such competitor, Mystery Ranch, makes everything from commuter bags to travel bags from ultra-durable Cordura nylon. In fact, Mystery Ranch’s bags are so durable that the brand was rewarded with a military contract to produce backpacks in Montana for the armed forces. That type of quality comes with a price though. Mystery Ranch bags can command price tags upwards of $300. But today at Huckberry, you can pick up a Mystery Ranch bag for as little as $105. There are a handful of bags included in the sale, and there’s sure to be something for everyone. — AJ Powell

Oak Street Bookmakers Cap-Toe Boots
Save $176: Chicago-based Oak Street Bootmakers is one of a handful of companies handcrafting quality boots in the US from high-end leathers. Understandably, its boots fetch a fair amount of money, but Massdrop is offering up two styles of Cap-Toe boots from Oak Street for a steal. Both boots feature a cap-toe design and come in either a black calf leather from famed French tannery Tannerie d’Annonay or a chestnut-hued leather from Seidel in Milwaukee. Purportedly, these boots are made from overstocked leather from these tanneries exclusively for Massdrop; as such they can be picked up for just $250. Similar pairs of boots from Oak Street Bootmakers normally retail for well over $400. — Andrew Connor

— Meg Lappe

Patagonia Snap-T Fleece Pullover
Save $40: The Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T fleece pullover is a staple in every man’s closet. Everyone from backpackers to dads to hikers to college students to Coachella attendees to urbanites has made the style work for them — and somehow, it does. A polyester fleece made from recycled materials makes the outside feel as soft as the interior. It’ll keep you plenty warm throughout the rest of any in-between rainy season you’re dealing with, or those bizarrely cold San Francisco summers. Grab one of last season’s colors now for up to $40 off. — Meg Lappe

Simplehuman Rectangular Step Trash Can
Save $20: Let’s get this out of way first — $80 is still a lot of money to spend on a trash can. But the Simplehuman Rectangular Step Trash Can, which normally retails for $100, is worth every penny. Just ask the folks over at Wirecutter, who named the “nearly flawless” Simplehuman Rectangular Step Trash Can their number-one pick. — Jack Seemer

Mystery Ranch Mission Duffel
Save 45%: Summer travelers who eschew the roll-aboard face a crucial choice: duffel or backpack. The former is a stalwart gear-hauler with plenty of space, but it lacks interior organization while the latter is easy to carry and packed with pockets and features, but has poor access to its contents and broadcasts the globetrotting backpacker look to the locals. There is a middle ground though, and Mystery Ranch has found it expertly with its Mission Duffel.

The Mission, currently on sale in the 90-liter size for 45 percent off, is a duffel with backpack straps. In the past few years, these bags have found a place in almost every outdoor gear maker’s collection, but the Mission stands out among the pack thanks to its comfortable stow-away backpack straps. They’re not just an afterthought; Mystery Ranch has taken what it’s learned in building excellent backpacking bags and applied it to the duffel.

The Mission wins bonus points for its large, U-shaped opening that provides plenty of access and for the many zippered mesh organizing pockets found inside. The bag is also water-resistant, as any good duffel should be. All of these features helped make the Mystery Ranch Mission Duffel one of our favorites for 2018. — Tanner Bowden

Roomba 960
Save $100: It’s not often those keen on exercising control over machines before Skynet assumes control and want to save a cool $100 are satisfied with a single link, but today that changes. iRobot’s (not the Will Smith film) Roomba 960 is the second most powerful consumer robot vacuum available (only behind its big brother, the 980) and can actually be told what to do thanks to Alexa and Google Assitant integration, though commands are limited to the likes of “Roomba, clean,” “Roomba, charge,” and not “Roomba, you missed a spot.” It can also be controlled by an app on your phone when you’re away from home, and it’s smartly short (3.5 inches) enough to slip under most beds, chairs and couches.

The most respected name in robot vacuums rarely cuts prices on its high-end helpers, but today the asking price is at least slightly more reasonable — $100 shaved off the top, bringing it to $600. Consider, though, you’ll not only have a robot to boss around, it’ll also piss your cat off and clean the cat’s hair up, simultaneously. — Will Price

I Pack This Nonessential Accessory for Every Trip
Save 40%: I’m a purist when it comes to packing, choosing to bring only the items I know that I’ll use. That frees up space in my bag for some things that might be considered unnecessary, like Goal Zero’s Lighthouse Mini lantern, which is currently 40 percent off. — Tanner Bowden

Fulton & Roark Solid Cologne
Save 30%: If you refuse to check a bag as I do, the concept of transporting liquids (especially cologne) poses a potential challenge. Combat that stale plane smell with Fulton & Roark’s solid colognes that are travel-friendly. There’s no three-ounce rule to abide by with essentially a bar of soap. And now, all Shackleford colognes, shaving kits, and dop kits are up to 30 percent off. A one-stop-shop for all your travel needs. — Meg Lappe

J. Crew Summer Suiting
Save 30%: Do yourself and everyone in your office a favor and don’t let this be another summer of sweating at or on the way to work. If you live anywhere outside of the north, you’ve undoubtedly begun to feel the turn of the season, and with it the turn of your wardrobe. I won’t go as far to say that if by this point in your life you don’t have a blazer or suit that can be worn in the sun you’re doing something wrong, but you might be doing something wrong. If you’d like to fix that, J. Crew’s line of breathable, unstructured stretch blazers and pants can be had now on the cheap — 30 percent off the regular price (and unlike other J.Crew products, these don’t go on sale often, especially during peak season).

The Ludlow stretch cotton and cotton-linen line are made with airy Portuguese cotton, without padding or lining and sport two air vents for bonus air flow. The stretch cotton line mixes cotton with flexible lycra-spandex. Right now, a jacket and pants can be had together for under $200 (free shipping, too) with code GOSHOP at checkout. — Will Price

Junghans Max-Bill Hand-Wound
Save $160: The Junghans Max Bill is a delightful timepiece that refuses to change. The watch’s Bauhaus aesthetic has barely changed at all since its legendary Swiss designer Max Bill first penned the dial design in the 1950s. This model here is powered by a Swiss-made ETA 2801-2 hand-winding movement that’s packed up in a sleek, 34mm case. The Max Bill also happens to be very affordably priced for everything with an MSRP of $690, but you can get it even cheaper from Massdrop right now for just $530. — Andrew Connor

CRKT Swindle Pocket Knife
Save 42%: Deception lies at the core of CRKT’s aptly-named Swindle pocket knife. Closed, the Swindle appears to be a fairly-typical folder with a thumb stud opening. But the stud isn’t mounted to the knife’s spine; in fact, it isn’t part of the blade at all. The actual knife blade betrays conventional designs, deploying with a flipper tap from the other side to produce what CRKT describes as an “uphill curve.” The decoy stud isn’t just that either — that bit of protruding steel is an equally-unique, spring-assisted pocket clip that leaves the Swindle’s handle smooth.

Designed by revered knife maker Ken Onion, the Swindle won the award for “Most Innovative Imported Design” at the 2013 Blade Show and has continued in CRKT’s production line since. The blade is just over three inches and comes in two versions — one made of high-carbon steel, and a premium version with Sandvik stainless steel and a milled handle. Both are currently on sale at Massdrop — the basic for 42% off and the premium for 37% off. (You can also get the Swindle at Amazon for 30% off.) — Tanner Bowden

Way Day Outdoor Furniture Sale
Save Up to 75%: Wayfair’s first Way Day is here (think Amazon’s Prime day, but with Wayfair), and few categories are as ripe for the picking as outdoor furniture. Nor can we vouch for the quality of every product. But, if you’ve got an empty deck and don’t want to sit on folding chairs like it’s Thanksgiving in 1999, the sheer wealth of hugely discounted products is sure to provide something worth taking a second look at.

In that situation, and many others, SealLine’s Blocker Dry Sacks fit the need. SealLine builds these roll-top, waterproof sacks with 70-denier polyurethane-coated nylon that’s both durable and lightweight. The Blocker Dry Sacks are available in a full range of sizes from 10 to 30 liters and will keep their contents dry even when the bag they sit inside can’t. Randolph Engineering Aviator Sunglasses
Save 30%: In 1978, Randolph Engineering began producing aviator sunglasses for the US military. The brand offered frames to law enforcement and precision shooting markets in the ’90s but didn’t stray from its military roots. In 2000, it was awarded a government contract for the Frame of Choice program, which offered the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and NASA an alternative to standard-issue sunglasses. Now, Randolph’s aviators — still built to MIL-S-25948 standards — are widely available to the public. You can save 30 percent on a few different frames at Zappos, including styles with both polarized and non-polarized lenses. — John Zientek

Lodge 8-Inch Cast-Iron Skillet
Save 48%: Point blank: there’s not an American made piece of cast-iron out there that is a better deal at retail price than a Lodge. The only widely available producer of American cast-iron has been cranking out all manner of cookware from the same factory in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee for more than 120 years, and selling skillets that can last a lifetime for what a trip to the movies costs. Lodge’s 8-inch skillet will fit a single large steak just fine, is more maneuverable than its larger cousins (only a bit over 3 pounds) and simply takes up less precious cabinet space. It also happens to be the perfect size for a dual serving of crispy, hearty breakfast hash. Just saying.

Right now, along with a slew of equally enticing (though less multi-functional) products, the 8-inch cast-iron skillet is discounted to a whopping $10. $10. — Will price

Salewa Firetail 3 GTX Hiking Shoe
Save $59: By now, hordes of thru-hikers have departed from Georgia’s Springer Mountain on a summer’s long journey north along the Appalachian Trail. Most of them are wearing sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots, but if you’re a hiker of a more casual sort than you may not need footwear so rugged. Consider a hiking shoe instead.

Lacking an upper cuff, hiking shoes are smaller and lighter than boots but still provide plenty of stability and arch support on top of a sticky lugged sole. They’re a substantial upgrade from the running shoes or athletic trainers that you might typically substitute when tackling shorter distances or in trying to avoid an expensive boot purchase altogether. Hiking shoes are ideal for travel too — they’re more supportive than sneakers and more versatile than boots. Plus, the low cut won’t shout “tourist” or “hiker” quite as loudly when exploring cities.

Salewa’s Firetail 3 GTX, on sale now for 37 percent off, is an excellent shoe for this purpose. Technically the Firetail is an approach shoe — lightweight yet sturdy footwear designed to help rock climbers carry fully-weighted gear packs to their ascent — but don’t let that categorization deter you. The main difference between an approach shoe and say, a trail running shoe, is that the former has a much more rugged sole that can handle technical paths. The Firetail uses Vibram’s Reptail sole with a Megagrip compound to do so. Salewa also gave the Firetail lacing that extends closer to the toe and a heel-locking system that provides an extra-snug fit, making it a solid choice for hiking and travel this summer. — Tanner Bowden

The Best Deals of the Day: April 20, 2018

Welcome to Deals of Note, where Gear Patrol captures all the best deals of the day. You can also follow all our deal posts in the Deals section. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at deals@gearpatrol.com.

2017 Apple iPad
Save $59: You can’t buy the 2017 iPad anymore from Apple because the new model has taken its place. However, if you don’t care about using the Apple Pencil — and a lot of people don’t — because you just want a cheap iPad to answer emails and watch Netflix, you can get a brand new 2017 iPad for $270 on eBay. Essentially, you’re saving $60, or $160 when you factor in the price of the Apple Pencil, for a brand new (if slightly dated) iPad.

Dyson Pure Cool Link Air Purifier
Save $220: The Dyson Pure Cool Link is a high-quality air purifier that we reviewed back in 2016. It’s wi-fi controlled and now works with Alexa, so you can control it with your voice if you have an Echo speaker. It doubles as a cooling fan, as well. But really, you want this thing because it’s basically a vacuum of the sky, sucking up pollen, dust, mold spores and pet dander. Normally $500, Amazon is offering the Dyson Pure Cool Link for as low as $280 today.

Cole Haan Semi-Annual Event
Save 30%: Now until April 25, you can save 30 percent on orders over $175 at Cole Haan’s comprehensive Semi-Annual Event. No exclusions apply, so it’s a great chance to invest in new footwear like the 2.Zerogrand Chukka and the GrandPro Running Sneaker with Stitchlite, or a quality piece of leather luggage like the Saunders Attache. For the best deals, check out the sale section, but be forewarned, you’ll probably have to get a couple items to hit the $175 price point. — John Zientek

Marmot PreCip Rain Pants
Save 25%: What are rain paints? The answer is simple: rain pants are the same as a rain jacket, but for the lower half of your body. Why you need them is a more difficult question to answer. Rain pants are arguably less versatile than an upper body shell; they aren’t the type of garment you’d throw on before heading to your office on a rainy morning — unlike other technical apparel, rain pants are not as socially-accepted beyond the outdoor realm.

But rain pants are useful, especially so if you’re an avid hiker or backpacker. Too often rain is an excuse to bail on a planned activity, but it shouldn’t be. A quality pair of rain pants along with a rain jacket will allow you to hike through the storm until it clears. Rain pants can also be used as a less-bulky alternative to snow pants when mountaineering or hiking in snow.

Marmot’s PreCip rain pants are among the best available (and they were rated so by Wirecutter). Like a rain jacket, they’re constructed with a waterproof membrane but are still breathable enough for active use. They also have three pockets — two on the side and one rear — and shin-high ankle zips that let you slide them on while wearing shoes or hiking boots (you don’t want to be taking those off if you get caught in a squall). The PreCip Pants also weigh just under nine ounces and can be easily stashed in a pack for those just-in-case moments.

The PreCip Pants are already affordable compared to other rain pants, but right now you can take an extra 25% off when you purchase a pair from Marmot — just use the code FRIENDS at checkout. — Tanner Bowden

The North Face Apex Bionic 2 Softshell Jacket
Save 50%: Now that the warmer weather is rolling in, camping trips can be enjoyed in shorts and a t-shirt. But that’s during the day, as soon as the sun goes down and the wind picks up, you’ll need to layer up. When that’s the case, it’s always smart to pack a medium to lightweight layer like a soft shell fleece that keeps in the warmth and blocks out the cold. Today, on Backcountry you can get a The North Face Apex Bionic 2 Softshell Jacket for up to 50% off. Better to get it now than wish you had you’re huddling around the fire pit when the temperature drops. — Bryan Campbell

KitchenAid Standing Mixer
Save $170: A KitchenAid mixer is a sign of many things: you have your act together and cook, you have a kitchen large enough to hold one, and you know what you’re doing in the kitchen. The quintessential wedding gift is a staple for a reason: who doesn’t want to look like they know what they’re doing? I don’t have to preach all the fantastic dishes you can make with this — but I will say it makes cookie baking a breeze. The smell of freshly baked cookies is a hard one to beat. There’s nothing you can’t conquer with a KitchenAid Standing Mixer. Now you can save $170 on the 5-quart tool in over 30 different colors. — Meg Lappe

Apple MacBook (Certified Refurbished)
Save $420: Problem. Your old MacBook is on its way out and even though you want to buy a new one, you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg to get a new model. If you’re an Apple guy, looking for a new MacBook or MacBook Pro, I’d check Apple’s certified refurbished section. You can get some great deals on both new and older Macs. Elsewhere, Amazon is currently having a sale on certified refurbished MacBooks. You can pick up a 2015 MacBook for as low as $780, but there are a lot of other deals on there, so check them out (here). These deals are part of Amazon’s “Deal of the Day,” so they’ll only be around for a short time longer.

Field Skillet
Save 30%: We’ve written about it and written about it and written about it again — we really like Field Company’s reliable, wieldy, affordable skillet. Like, a lot. We’ve reported it on sale before (you’d know that if you clicked those links), but at 30% off, this is the most affordable we’ve seen the already-reasonable skillet (code at checkout: skillet).

In short, Field’s skillet is an ideal combination of maneuverability (easy-gripping handle, very lightweight) and utility – you can thank a couple layers of pre-applied grapeseed oil and a surface as smooth as the stainless steel under the counter for that. It’s seasoned and non-stick out of the box, and it’s not so exorbitantly-priced as to make you baby it. It’s a cast-iron skillet, for heaven’s sake, use it.

If you’ve been wringing your hands over jumping on the old-made-new cast-iron skillet bandwagon, this is as good an opportunity as you’ll have. The Field Skillet is marked down 30%, bringing it to $70. And you get a $25 credit toward a future purchase at Huckberry, too. — Will Price

Lavatools Javelin Pro Duo Meat Thermometer
Save 33%: It’s okay that you haven’t developed the sixth sense of knowing exactly when your roast chicken is at 165 degrees, or when that rib roast hits perfect medium-rare — that’s why meat thermometers were dreamed up. Lavatools’ Javelin Pro Duo has been lauded as one of the most accurate available; it can take a read of a stabilized temperature in just two to three seconds. The Javelin Pro Duo beeps when that temperature is found, and it will hold that number on its bright LCD — which is viewable from any angle and rotates so that the numbers are always right-side-up — for several seconds. That allows you to remove the device from the food before reading the screen without affecting the final temperature readout (no more awkward head tilting).

A tool this smart is normally pricey, for meat thermometers, but right now it’s marked down 33 percent to just $30. — Tanner Bowden

AGV Helmets Closeout Sale
Save up to 60%:The riding season is upon and that means its time to take a good look at your gear and determine if it’s still road worthy — most important of which is your lid. It’s suggested you replace your helmet once every five years, but with the AGV closeout sale going on now at Revzilla you should probably just get one to switch up your style for the season ahead. Most of the helmets on sale are marked down between 20% – 60%, so why not? — Bryan Campbell

All Pendleton Apparel
Save 25%: If you’re unfamiliar with Pendleton, they’re a very, very old American maker of quality, durable apparel with some low-key Native American vibes. Popular among surfers, backpackers and Brooklynites alike, their catalog typically comes with a heftier price tag, but thanks to a nifty 25 percent off sale (use code TAKE25 at checkout) that stacks with ongoing sales, there are steals to be had. The Harding Knit Baseball Jacket is almost 70 percent off its regular price with the discount applied. Shave half the price off the hardwearing, reversible Territory Vest. A $250 heavy duty shirt jacket is $90. There’s too many choices to parse, and that’s a very, very good thing.

Pendleton’s Friends & Family sale runs until Monday. — Will Price

Chippewa Service Boot
Save up to $90: You know a brand’s heritage runs deep when its original factory is in the National Register of Historic Places — that’s Chippewa Boots. Founded in 1901 in Chippewa Falls to meet the rugged demands of a booming logging industry, Chippewa expanded quickly to supply boomtime workers of every kind. When World War I broke out in 1914, Chippewa provided field boots to the Allied Forces and US soldiers. During the period of recovery after the Great Depression Chippewa created novel styles to equip the new state-employed workforce that participated in programs like the Civilian Conservation Corps. When war broke out in Europe yet again, the company reported to duty, supplying the famous 10th Mountain Division with cold weather footwear built for fighting on high. Even during the low action of the Cold War, flight boots made by Chippewa shod the feet of CIA pilots who flew the U-2 spy plane.

Chippewa’s hard-wearing boots continue to outlast the years and meet the demands of the everyday. They’re not just built for loggers and those serving in the armed forces though — a sturdy pair of leather boots can function for nearly any occasion. Right now, Chippewa’s classic Service Boot is currently on sale in a variety of leathers for 18 to 33 percent off at Huckberry. — Tanner Bowden

Vitamix Vita-Prep 2.3 HP Blender
Save $500: There comes a time in every person’s life when a blender with actual horsepower is on the shopping list. If you’re that person, and that time is now, you’re in luck.

Vitamix’s all-powerful Vita-Prep blender is slashed big time right now — from north of $800 to $358. The Vita-Prep is the original all-in-one appliance, and it does it without wi-fi connectivity and LED screens and programmability overload. Its aerospace-grade, laser cut steel blades are powered by a 2.3 HP motor which, together with a simple speed-changing knob, make a blender that can dice whole vegetables, make ice cream, cook soup, whip cream, liquify nuts and make the smoothest of smoothies. It generates so much suction it actually sucks air bubbles back into the blades and limits over-frothy end products.

Don’t look at Vitamix’s Vita-Prep as a blender — look at it as the original Instant Pot. Save $500 on the professional grade model today — Will Price

Riedel Vinum Extreme Cabernet Glasses
Save $20: In 1986 Master Austrian glassmakers Riedel changed the glassware game by introducing the first line of machine-made pieces tailored to different wine types — this was the Vinum collection, which has held as the standard for affordable, varietal-specific glasses since. The Vinum collection, which features a glass for cabernets to rosés, is made with dishwasher-safe crystal glass and also comes in an “extreme” model, providing an upgraded glass size. Right now, a set of two Riedel Vinum Cabernet Sauvignon (Merlot and Bordeaux, too) Extreme series glasses is $39, $20 off its usual price. — Will Price

This Dog Tag Should Be Standard Issue for the Military
Save Over $85: Spyderco’s Dog Tag Folding Knife is the result of a collaboration with Ukranian knifemaker Serge Panchenko, and is nearly the same dimensions as the current mil-spec dog tag. Its 1.22-inch sheepsfoot blade is made from high-quality CPM S30V stainless steel, while its handle is a combination titanium and aluminum. The knife is a slip joint design, which means that it doesn’t lock open. If you live somewhere like New York City with stringent knife laws, that’s good news. Spyderco doesn’t provide ball chain with the Dog Tag folder, so you’ll need to pick one up separately.

The knife is currently available on Massdrop for $45, down from its retail price of $130, and ships April 24. But if you don’t want to wait that long, you can also pick one up from Amazon (Prime eligable) for $56. — AJ Powell

Bonita BV1901TS

The BV1901TS, for example, has a pre-infusion mode for freshly-ground coffee and consistently heats water to the ideal brewing range. Thanks to a campaign on Massdrop, its been discounted to just $110, though only 100 coffee makers are available. — Andrew Connor
