Fox Knives Suru
Save $53: Blade Show, the annual cutlery industry trade show that takes place in Atlanta, Georgia each year, is just around the corner. Last year, Fox Knives worked with designer Jesper Voxnaes to produce the Suru, the blade that took home the event’s grand prize distinction of Knife of the Year. Coincidentally, that knife is currently on sale at The Drop for 23 percent off.

The Suru won the top prize at Blade Show 2018 because its ultralight skeletonized handle was the first to use a carbon fiber frame lock. Overall, the knife weighs just 2.04 ounces. The version that’s on sale doesn’t use carbon fiber though — but you can find that knife for sale at BladeHQ — it uses aluminum. That bumps its weight up to three ounces but allows for a couple of new colorful finishes.

Beyond the handle, nothing else about the Suru has changed. It has a drop-point blade that’s 2.32 inches long and it wielders can deploy it using either a thumbhole or flipper tab. To build more utility into his small-ish pattern, Voxnaes gave the Suru two choils (the unsharpened finger cutouts where the blade meets the handle) that allow for a firm and full-handed grip. — Tanner Bowden

According to the pioneering new ocean conservation organization Pacific Garbage Screening, “Every minute, a whole garbage truck full of plastic garbage gets into the oceans somewhere in the world.” PGS has designed a revolutionary floating platform that once implemented, may make it possible to filter plastic particles out of the water without threatening marine life. This filtered plastic could then be used to create recycled plastic materials.

Oris, who has long championed grassroots ocean conservation initiatives, has partnered with PGS for the Oris Aquis Clean Ocean Limited Edition. Only 2,000 of these unique 39.5mm timepieces were produced — the limited number is a reflection of the scarcity of clean water around the world today. Each watch includes a recycled PET plastic medallion set into the case back commemorating the partnership. As a final touch, the watches are packaged in boxes made of environmentally-friendly algae, which shows that sustainability can be a goal in watchmaking.

Au Sabot L’Armor Mariner’s Knife
Save 40%: There’s a reason why knife blades come in various shapes — intended use is the primary one. Take Au Sabot’s L’Armor, a folding pocket knife with a somewhat blunted tip, for example. That shape is called a Sheepsfoot, not only because it resembles, in a way, an ovine hoof, but also because it’s a shape that has historically been used for farm work.

Au Sabot’s sheepsfoot knife references sailors though, not shepherds — specifically, 19th Century sailors embarking from England with a similar looking tool called The London. The four-inch blade is made of Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, a well-rounded Swedish steel known for its hardness and toughness (it’s often used to make ice skate blades) and is available with handles made of palo santo, olive or horn. For shorter guys, finding well-fitting outwear can be difficult. Even if you can get something tailored, details like the pockets and collar heights will still be out of proportion. This common issue is the reason Peter Manning began designing clothing specifically for shorter guys. And back in 2014, the first piece of outerwear the brand took on was the Tribeca Field Jacket.

The Tribeca Field Jacket is a modern take on the classic field jacket design, and it comes in three colors: navy, olive and tan.
