Today In Gear: A Minimalist Everyday Backpack, the Last Knife You’ll Ever Need & More

Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and deals. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at tig@gearpatrol.com.

How to haul your everyday essentials can be a tough decision to make. Too often, everything ends up at the bottom of a seemingly bottomless tote bag hanging on your shoulder. This is far from ideal. You need to be comfortable getting to and from the office or studio and ready to bug-out for the weekend. The City Backpack organizes and protects all your tech and leaves room for all your must-haves without sacrificing looks. This minimalist ruck from Incase is at the intersection of tech and lifestyle. The fleece-lined compartments for your phone and laptop offer excellent protection for your tools of the trade while the two additional zippered stash pockets mean you will be able to stow enough to carry you right into the weekend. You can grab this perfect backpack over at Incase for 20 percent off with the code INC-GEAR20, so head over there and get organizing.

Save 50%: Citizen’s Eco-Drive watches feature quartz movements that are powered by light and don’t require battery changes — perfect for summer adventuring and travel. The AT0200-05E features a 3-register chronograph and date display built into a 40mm case with mineral crystal, luminous hands and 100m of water resistance. It also ships on a green canvas two-piece strap that lends a cool military look. Right now, you can take half off the $250 MSRP, for a price of just $125. — Oren Hartov

Persol Sunglasses
Save up to 76%:Nordstrom Rack is having a crazy sale on Persol sunglasses right now and all available styles cost $100. Normal retail prices hover up around $350 which means you’ll save up to 76 percent if you shop now. With a history dating back to 1917, Persol epitomizes Italian luxury sunglasses and its vintage frames are highly collectible. Now owned by Luxottica, the frames are more widely available than in past decades but the styles are no less iconic. If you’re in need of a new pair of everyday shades, don’t pass on this sale — it’ll be hard to find prices like this again. — John Zientek

Seiko Prospex “Orange Samurai” SRPB97
Save 50%: The Seiko Prospex SRPB97 “Orange Samurai” is exactly what you want in a summertime timepiece. It has a boldly-colored orange dial, runs Seiko’s proven 4R35 automatic movement and has a chunky case to keep that movement safe at depths up to 200 meters (not to mention the occasional careless knock here or there). Best of all, it’s cheap. Right now at Macy’s, you can get it for a full 50 percent off. That takes the price down to just $262 from its full retail of $525. And if orange isn’t exactly your thing, Macy’s is offering tons of other Seiko dive watches on sale to choose from as well. — Andrew Connor grey_placeholder

Soludos Espadrilles
Save 30%: As with summer clothing, summer footwear should be lightweight and breathable to keep you comfortable on the hottest of days. An espadrille is a great option for casual wear. Typically, it features a canvas upper, a jute sidewall and comfortable soles.

Soludos makes a few affordable options, with canvas or leather uppers and durable rubber soles. Now, these espadrilles are 30 percent off at East Dane and cost as little as $53 — not a lot to pay for the amount of wear you’ll get out of them this season. — John Zientek

Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine
Save $110: Making a decent espresso at home requires a lot. You need a scale to weigh out a proper shot, you need a burr grinder to ensure you’re using fresh grounds and you need an espresso maker to pull everything together. The alternative is to get an espresso maker with all that built-in, and then some. Something like Breville’s Barista Express. Today on Ebay, Breville’s Barista Express is available for $110 off its retail price. It should be noted that this sale comes courtesy of a third-party seller, not Breville itself, so slight caution is warranted. And though the listed price on Ebay is north of $900, its actual retail price is $600. — Will Price

Insane Motorcycle Helmet Sale
Save Up to 50%: What you wear when you ride can literally save your skin, so it’s worth investing a little extra money to ensure you’re protected as well as possible. However, while the motorcycle lifestyle can have a tantalizingly low cost of entry compared to owning a car, necessary protective clothing — pants, jackets, and especially helmets — can quickly run up a steep tab, making the cheaper, lesser options more attractive, even if they may not be quite as good. Right now over at Revzilla, there’s an insane sale on top-of-the-line motorcycle helmets. You can save up to $700 on select top-tier motorcycle helmets from brands like AGV, Bell and Schuberth. If you’ve always wanted the performance and protection from one of the best motorcycle helmets available today (and really, why wouldn’t you want that?), now’s your chance to save a few hundred dollars and upgrade your lid game. — Bryan Campbell

Nike Running and Training Sneaker Sale
Save 30%: If you’re in the market for a new pair of running shoes or gym sneakers now’s the time to shop at Backcountry thanks to an additional 30 percent off Nike’s top performing sneakers. The best-selling running shoes are at least $30 off in a couple of colors and the trail runner’s favorite sneaker, theTerra Kiger 5, are less than $100 for a limited time. You’ll have to poke around to find your size and the perfect color. — Meg Lappe grey_placeholder

Apple AirPods with Wireless Charging Case
Save $20: For the first time since they were released a few months ago, Apple’s second-generation AirPods with a wireless charging case are on sale. The normally $200 package is selling on Amazon for $180 right now, so it’s saving you $20 bucks. — Tucker Bowe

Weber Charcoal Chimney
Save 26%: The biggest pain point in charcoal grilling happens before the food is out of the fridge. Properly lighting charcoal has always been a contentious, frustrating and tedious subject. The fastest way to light coals naturally is a charcoal chimney, and Weber’s already-affordable option is on sale today. Place the chimney on the grates of your grill, fill it with charcoal and light a wad of newspaper underneath. Once your coals start to turn gray (usually about 20 minutes), dump them in the base of the grill and you’re ready to cook. The Weber chimney is a little more than 25 percent off today on Amazon. — Will Price grey_placeholder

Sony WH-1000XM3 Noise-Canceling Headphones
Save $130: The Sony WH-1000XM3 are our pick for the best noise-canceling headphones you can buy right now; we named them as a 2018 GP100 award winner this past December, which we give annually to the 100 best products of the year. If you’re looking for a real deal, eBay is selling refurbished models for just $220 — that’s $130 off. Both black and silver models are available at this discount.
Dainese Misano D-Air Perforated Jacket
Save 41%: No matter how much defensive and proactive riding we do, life on two wheels out on the open road is inherently more dangerous than driving. The best thing motorcycle riders can do to keep themselves safe is wear the right gear — an armored jacket, pants, boots and gloves. Even then, though, it’s always not enough. Seat belts just aren’t an option on a bike…but these days, airbags can be. Dainese took a giant leap forward with its top-of-the-line riding gear incorporating the D-Air system. And right now, you can get the Misano D-Air Perforated Jacket for $700 less than it normally costs. Using a wireless airbag system, microprocessor, internal sensors and a GPS system, a D-Air equipped jacket can determine if an accident is imminent and deploy extra protection in less than 15 milliseconds to protect the riders shoulders, collarbone and body. The inflated airbags will also mitigate helmet roll in an accident, keeping your lid from making direct contact with the collarbone. It’s a technology only top-level MotoGP riders and racers had access to until recently, but now it’s available for street riding…and right now, it’s 41 percent off. -— Bryan Campbell

Hydro Flask Water Bottle Sale
Save 30%:Hydro Flask makes some of the best water bottles, backpack coolers and beer growlers, and today, you can pick up one of their bottles for up to 30 percent off. If you’re traveling this summer, Hydro Flask’s standard mouth water bottle will be your new go-to: it fits perfectly in the car, your backpack side pocket or your carry-on. And if you’re planning a picnic or going car camping, don’t leave home without the 64-ounce Growler, filled with one of this year’s best beers. — Meg Lappe

Seiko Solar Chronograph
Save 50%: Seiko’s Solar Chronograph watches offer not only the accuracy and reliability of quartz along with the build quality the brand is famous for, but they also include solar charging, which means another level of convenience, since you won’t have to worry about changing batteries. On top of that, they represent a lot of bang for buck even at retail price. Now, these bold watches, available in red or blue versions, are on sale at Macy’s for half-off their retail price of $350 when you enter the code “SHINE” at checkout. — Zen Love

Today In Gear: Oris Dive Watches for Clean Oceans, the Outdoor Gear of the Future & More

Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and deals. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at tig@gearpatrol.com.

It can be hard to think there is a connection between beautiful timepieces and efforts to keep our oceans clean. But Oris has brought the two together with the limited edition Oris Ocean Trilogy set, complete with a display case made of recycled plastic that’s been collected from the ocean. Limited to only 200, each box includes three of the Swiss watchmaker’s diver watches that are part of the company’s mission to bring change for the better, to the world’s oceans. Two of the watches in the set are the Oris Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition III and the Clean Ocean Limited Edition, which have been made in partnership with the Reef Restoration Foundation and Pacific Garbage Screening. The third timepiece available exclusively in the set is the Blue Whale Limited Edition — the first Aquis chronograph with a three, six and nine dial layout — which is focused on protecting the world’s largest animal. Three great watches, helping keep our oceans clean.

Patagonia Black Hole Duffel
Save 30%: If you’ve never heard of Patagonia’s Black Hole duffel bags, you’ve likely spotted one in an airport, foreign train station or strapped to the roof of an overlander. Patagonia built the weather-resistant and sturdy bags to last decades with a rugged TPU-laminated ripstop nylon. They also include removable backpack straps that make carrying one a breeze, even when it’s fully loaded. The 60-liter version is arguably the most versatile size; it’s big enough to pack everything you’ll need for a weekend or a week, and it still fits into the overhead bins on planes. We’ve put this bag through its paces on all kinds of adventures, from a ski weekend in Vermont to a month-long trip to Ecuador. It’s one of the best rugged duffel bags available, and right now it’s also 30 percent off at Backcountry in nearly every volume. — Tanner Bowden grey_placeholder

Save up to 52%: It’s a rare occurrence when you can find discounted footwear from Red Wing Heritage. But every so often, Nordstrom Rack offers a range of shoes and boots from the brand at highly-reduced prices. Often, the styles are European or Japanese market styles or factory seconds, and the savings are usually at least half off. Wüsthof’s Classic Chef’s Knife
Save 45%: The market for chef’s knives is made of tiers. Every major knife manufacturer has a value knife that goes for $30 to $45 that’s typically made of hardwearing, easy-to-dull stainless steel (think Victorinox’s Fibrox knife). The second tier, priced just under $100, is filled with knives made with steel that keep an edge longer, but aren’t forged and thus susceptible to chipping. Starting around $150, the third tier is where you’ll find sturdy, forged chef’s knives that remain sharper for longer and pay greater attention to handle ergonomics. This tier is typified by knives like Wüsthof’s Classic 8-Inch Chef’s Knife — a forged, wide bevel knife designed in a classically German style.

Today on Ebay, you can get it for 45 percent off — or a savings of $75. That’s $60 cheaper than its listed price on Amazon. — Will Price

This is ideal for anybody that doesn’t want to rely on (or pay for) a Cloud-based storage solution. It was the first successful integration of airy mesh into task chair design. Shoot, it even earned a spot in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection. Fair or not, any company that releases a high-end office chair today must bear comparison to the Aeron.

Mott & Bow Soft Twill Denim

Most denim produced these days includes a bit of stretch — typically one to two percent is standard. Stretch, in this case, equates to comfort since the fabric moves with you instead of staying rigid. Mott & Bow’s latest soft twill denim line offers a greater percentage of stretch without losing a familiar feel. Made with 20-percent stretch Mercer denim, these jeans are probably the most comfortable you’ll ever wear.

The Mott & Bow soft twill denim is available in both slim and straight cuts and five washes (two shades of khaki, two shades of blue and olive green). The range of colors is incredibly versatile and you can wear them just like your favorite pair of chinos. So if you’re in the market for a new pair of comfortable go-anywhere pants, these jeans are worth checking out this summer.

Their nearest rival is the Bose QuietComfort 30, which costs $299, and that’s $99 more than the Jabra Elite 65e. If you’re looking for a really sweet deal on in-ear noise-canceling headphones, you can buy a refurbished pair of Jabra Elite 65e on eBay for just $40. That’s a pretty steep discount.

What’s more, these Italian-made shades also come with polarized lenses to protect your eyes all summer long — hard to beat that. — John Zientek

Clarks Desert Boots
Save 32%:Few shoes have the kind of pedigree assigned to the Clarks Desert Boot — a simple suede chukka inspired by the crepe-soled boots worn by British officers in World War II. Sold by Clarks since the early 50s, the boots later became a favorite of style icons like Steve McQueen and Bob Dylan. Today, it’s the brand’s best-selling shoe, beloved for its unique combination of comfort, durability and polish. And, right now, you can score a pair for 32 percent off the normal asking price ($40 savings). — Jack Seemer

Today In Gear: Montblanc’s Adventure-Inspiring Fragrance, an $8,000 Cast-Iron Skill & More

Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and deals. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at tig@gearpatrol.com.

The perfect smell can transport you across the globe. The scent of a place — and the accompanying memories — can stay with you forever, evoking the adventures of younger days and the people you shared them with. The unique power of scent was certainly in the minds of Montblanc’s perfumers as they scoured the globe for the perfect ingredients for the new Explorer Eau de Parfum Spray. The expert team sourced all those components to craft a masculine, aromatic fragrance, something worldly and wild but with enough restraint to attract the kind of attention you want. Such an undertaking required trips to find the right Sicilian Bergamot, the perfect vetiver from Haiti and a perfectly-balanced Indonesian Patchouli — exclusively grown for Montblanc to the highest ethical standards and an impeccable level of quality control. All of these fine ingredients come distilled and packaged in a boldly handsome European-crafted bottle, the perfect accent for your dresser top or preparation space. Whether you find yourself tomorrow at home, ordering room service in an urban hotel room or rising with the sun in a beachside lodge, the scent of Montblanc’s Explorer Eau de Parfum will remind you that this, too, is an adventure worth having.

Fender Custom Shop Black Moon Telecaster

What’s more, he’s also built over 800 custom guitars with his own brand Thorn Guitars. Right now, Thorn’s first guitar built as Fender Custom Shop Master Builder is on sale at Guitar Center, and it’s truly stunning.

Fender Custom Shop Joe Bonamassa Collector Series Telecaster
Save 25%: Joe Bonamassa knows a thing or two about vintage Fender guitars. The legendary blues-rock guitarist is a prolific collector and has an epic stockpile of 260 vintage guitars (‘50s and ‘60s Fenders and Gibsons make up a bulk of it). So when Fender’s Custom Shop set out to build an instrument inspired by the guitarist’s much-loved 1955 Telecaster, they had their work cut out for them.

Limited to just 40 instruments which are exclusively carried at Guitar Center, this model is geared towards serious players or avid collectors. And while normal Custom Shop prices can be hard for some to swallow, this guitar is now 25 percent off. That means you can save $1,151 on this ridiculously nice guitar and take it home for just under $3,500. For a person obsessed with the details, this is a deal worth acting on. — John Zientek

Today In Gear: Reigning Champ Teams Up with Asics, a Square Watch Icon’s Moment & More

Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and deals. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at tig@gearpatrol.com.

Two of our favorite sportswear companies have teamed up to create collections around their favorite cities. Reigning Champ, the minimalist Vancouver based outfit, and Asics, the venerable Japanese sportswear brand, are set to release four collections drawing inspiration from Kyoto, Vancouver, Paris and — of course — Tokyo. The Kyoto Edition is the first of the four to drop, with the city providing the backdrop for the collection, from local textile patterns to the weathered wooden patina Kyoto is known for.

For the runners amongst us, some highlights from the collaboration include a gradient-printed lightweight running jacket, Boro textile-inspired tops and a Gel-Kayano ™ 25 running shoe. For more leisurely pursuits, you can also snap up the retro-feeling Gel-Kayano ™ 5 OG and the elevated tracksuit. Now we just wait for the other three collaborations — but be sure to grab your picks from the Kyoto collection while you can.

Saint Unbreakable Gloves
Save 40%: Summer is just about here, and with it, the gorgeous days and rising temperatures that spark the temptation to jump on a motorcycle and just riiiiiide. That heat might also tempt a rider into forgoing the heavy layers of riding armor, but unlike the desire to hit the open road, that’s one summertime desire that should be avoided. Saint Unbreakable’s vintage-style motorcycle gear has often impressed us in the past, and the company’s gloves are no exception; deer skin leather and a Merino wool lining keep things comfortable, while a reinforced double-layer palm and advanced denim construction provide protection for a four-second, 50-meter slide. Better yet: While they normally retail for $130, for a limited time, you can snap them up for $78 at RevZilla. — Will Sabel Courtney

BeatsX Wireless Earphones
Save $40:The BeatsX in-ear headphones were released in early 2017 and they were significant at the time because they were the first wireless headphones — bar AirPads — to feature Apple’s W1 chip, which allowed them to pair with any iPhone. They were also sweat resistant, which AirPods weren’t (and still aren’t), so it was much safer to run or workout them. The problem, however, was that at launch the BeatsX were priced at $150, making them a hard sell considering the truly wireless AirPods were just a few bucks more expensive. Now, however, you can get a pair on eBay for just $60. — Tucker Bowe

Today in Gear: Panerai Makes Its Classic Submersible Dive Watch Even Tougher, Canned Coffee That Doesn’t Such & More

Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and deals. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at tig@gearpatrol.com.

Panerai makes some of the toughest luxury watches in the game, timepieces that can handle the pressure of deep ocean dives and never miss a beat. But recently the brand upped the ante by putting out the toughest option you can get: the Submersible BMG-TECH™. That isn’t to say that this 47mm timepiece is any less refined or luxurious than you would expect from such a vaunted Italian watchmaker. This is partly because the new measure of ruggedness comes from something you can’t see — this is the first mechanical watch featuring a case made of BMG-TECH™, a bulk metallic glass with a disordered atomic structure. This means the watch is harder and lighter than steel while also maintaining high corrosion resistance so it can keep taking hard knocks for a long, long time. The 47mm Submersible BMG-TECH™ also boasts Incabloc anti-shock movement protection and a deep blue dial with bright, distinctive luminous indices. As reassuring to look at as it is to use in the water, this Panerai is a new fixture in the world of dive watches that’s more than eager to earn the status of a legend.

And, if you need something even easier to carry than a backpack strap-equipped duffel, Patagonia thought to use its Black Hole construction to make a wheeled suitcase. It comes with a 70-liter capacity that you can pack to the brim without worrying whether you’ll be able to get all your gear from A to B. This bag is also 30 percent off. — Tanner Bowden

LG C7 55-Inch OLED 4K HDR TV
Save $500 When it comes to TV tech, it’s hard to beat OLED. Despite the high price, the rich colors and inky blacks are unmatched. LG’s 4K HDR OLED C7 Series made it on Gear Patrol’s Best 100 products of 2017, and now you can get it for under a grand at B&H Photo, which is a steal.
The C7 has been supplanted by the newer C8, but the older model’s picture is still stunning in comparison to an LED set. Also, the version on offer from B&H is technically the C7C, a commercial model that appears not support Google Assistant, as The Verge points out, but which comes with a three-year warranty as opposed to the one-year warranty that’s standard for consumer grade sets. The deal lasts until the end of June 12th.

For those interesting, the SCA makes the details of the grueling certification process available here and here.

It’s worth noting the Cuisinart brewer is listed as a “Last Call” item on the site, meaning there are no guarantees on how long the deal will last. — Will Price

For example, if you’ve set a watering schedule but it’s raining, the Rachio 3 will know that — no more sprinklers in the rain. The Rachio 3 is also compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple’s HomeKit? and Nest, so you should have no issue integrated it with your current smart home ecosystem.

You should always dress for the ride, but in the summer, it’s equally important to keep cool with the right gear.

The Alpinestars Viper Air Textile Jacket is constructed from reinforced 600 denier poly-fabric and has removable CE-certified Bio-Armor at the shoulders and elbows for protection and designed with massive mesh vents for maximum airflow, so it doesn’t feel like you’re riding around in a Turkish bathhouse. The Viper Air Textile Jacket is already an affordable summer motorcycle jacket, but right now, it’s 20 percent off at $160, making it an easy addition to your summer gear rotation. — Bryan Campbell

Target Outdoor Furniture
Save 25%: If you don’t need the cream of the crop furniture for your patio, but you do need places for your friends to sit when they come over, you should probably check out Target’s Patio Furniture Sale.

The site is offering 25 percent off a single item from its patio furniture set collection, patio tables and patio chairs. The lot includes picks from Target’s mid-century modern focused Project 62, the minimalist Threshold and other solid Target in-house brands. — Will Price

Patagonia Nine Trails Backpack
Save up to 50%: While some hiking backpacks cram as many functions into as few liters as possible, others opt for the opposite tack: achieve utility through minimalism. This was precisely what Patagonia strove for in its Nine Trails packs, which launched last spring, and the company (as usual) landed on its mark.

Instead of multiple compartments and various access points, the Nine Trails backpack has one spacious main compartment that’s accessed through a large U-shaped zipper. On the exterior are multiple stretchy sleeve-style pockets for storing items that need to be accessed routinely on the trail, like extra layers, water bottles and snacks. That’s essentially it, and the backpack is a success because of that simplicity (it’s one of our favorite daypacks for hiking). The bag isn’t without a couple of extras though — there are small zippered stash pockets inside, on the top and on the hipbelt, and a hydration sleeve with a port for the hose.

Compared to other hiking bags in Patagonia’s line, the Nine Trails is still new, but as long as you don’t mind last season’s colors — Classic Red and Sprouted Green — you can find the bag on sale for up to 50 percent off at Backcountry in both 20- and 36-liter capacities. — Tanner Bowden

Chelsea Boots from To Boot New York
Save Nearly 50%: To Boot New York’s footwear styles are all hand-cut, all crafted and sewn in Italy, all finished to an impressive level — they’re also priced accordingly. So a discount of nearly 50 percent on the do-it-all, go-anywhere Aldrich Chelsea boots is certainly worth a double-take. Currently, a massive sale at East Dane allows you to take an additional 25 percent off sale items with the code SCORE19 during checkout — that means these boots get knocked down from their regular price of $398 to a mere $209.

At a gravity-defying 215g, the Giro Imperial gives you the performance and adjustability you need to take on the steepest climbs and snappiest sprints. To create a shoe that could handle this kind of range, Giro created an ultra-light monofilament mesh upper called Synchwire that fits and feels like a second skin. Dual Boa IP1 with soft lace guides help keep you secure as you hammer the pedals, while thermal-welded Teijin TPU gives you structural support right where it counts. A high-modulus Easton EC90 SLX2 carbon-fiber plate delivers the ultimate stiffness-to-weight ratio, providing impressive power transfer for a better ride. The final touch is the footbed — it features customized arch support right out of the box for optimal comfort and pedaling efficiency.

Belstaff Classic Tourist Trophy Jacket
Save up to $700: Your motorcycle gear isn’t something to take for granted. What you wear when you ride can literally save your skin, so it’s worth investing a little extra money when and where you can, to ensure you’re protected as much as possible. However, where the motorcycle lifestyle can have a tantalizingly low cost of entry compared to a car, the necessary protective clothing like pants, jackets, and especially helmets, can quickly run up a steep tab making the cheaper, lesser options more attractive.

Now, it’s understandable not everyone has an unlimited budget to spend on the latest and greatest motorcycle gear, but today, over at

Revzilla there’s an insane sale on top-of-the-line motorcycle helmets. Right now you can save up to $700 on select top-tier motorcycle helmets from brands like AGV, Bell and Schuberth. If you’ve always wanted the performance and protection from one of the best motorcycle helmets available today (hint: You should), now’s your chance to save a few hundred dollars and still upgrade your lid game. — Bryan Campbell

Chaco Sandals
Save 44%: Sandals are made for summer, and thanks to recent reductions in the stigmatization of strappy, open-toe footwear, this particular summer seems to be the ideal season to dust off the pair at the back of your closet. Sandals aren’t just for camping and whitewater rafting anymore either — fashionistas might hate to admit it, but sandals are a common sight everywhere from Colorado to downtown Manhattan (wearing them with socks — gasp! — is also becoming a thing).

Maybe you missed this bandwagon the last time it came around, or your old pair is in need of a refresh. In either case, now is an excellent time because REI is selling Chaco sandals in a range of different styles for 25 percent off. Through June 10, you’ll receive in additional 25 percent off that price (the double discount brings it down to roughly 44 percent off in total). — Tanner Bowden

Belstaff Classic Tourist Trophy Jacket
Save up to 20%: It’s not easy to earn a reputation for rugged reliability in the world of motorcycle gear, but Belstaff has been at it for nearly 100 years. Covering the backs of some of the first motorcycle racers at the famed Brooklands track, the first runnings of the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy and even cloaking Che Guevara as he documented his memoir The Motorcycle Diaries, Belstaff has proven itself worthy in the roughest real-world conditions. Along with its respectable rise to prominence, Belstaff has also entrenched itself in the luxury performance apparel space in recent years, so price tags across the brand tend to be high. Today, however, the Classic Tourist Trophy Jacket, one of Belstaff’s most iconic designs is 20% off and just $1,260. — Bryan Campbell

Save 45%: Most people don’t need every feature and function the Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 toothbrush provides. Thankfully, you do not need to use all of them for it to be a worthy buy.

At nearly 50 percent off, its price has never been lower. — Will Price

All-Clad Stainless Steel Cookware
Save 52%: What’s the difference between quality stainless steel cookware and cheap stainless steel cookware? Easy: the former has even heating, balanced weight and increased durability. The downside, of course, is cost.

Today at Macy’s, the most-respected stainless steel cookware in the world is selling discounted pots and pans — in bulk. All-Clad’s seven-piece collection of stainless is marked down from $630 to $300. The set includes a sauté pan, fry pan, stock pot and a saucepan. This is as cheap as it gets. — Will Price

Traeger Wood Pellet Grill
Save 25%: Traeger, the company that invented the wood pellet grill, has made better grills than its Texas Elite model. Earlier this year it unveiled a new series of grill-smokers that connect to Wi-Fi, pre-heat quickly and are fully controllable through smartphones. The past-generation Texas Elite doesn’t do these things, but it still does everything you need it to, and it’s 25 percent off right now.

For those unfamiliar with wood pellet grilling, they work by way of an auger pushing tiny hardwood pellets into flames based on temperature readings from an internal computer. You set the temperature you want to cook at — about 150 to 400 in this case — and it does the fire tending for you. This means you have a grill that is fired by a natural, flavor-imparting fuel that you don’t need to stand next to all day. It’s essentially a hands-off smoker mixed with a capable wood grill.

Today In Gear: DU/ER’s Ultra-Lightweight Summer Denim, the “Natural Wine” of the Whiskey World & More

Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and deals. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at tig@gearpatrol.com.

Most of us retire our denim to a dark dresser drawer once the summer sun starts beating down. No matter how sick the fades are on your 20 ounce selvedge jeans, heavyweight denim just can’t beat the heat, and the last thing anyone wants to deal with is sweat running down their legs. The folks over at DUER might have solved this age-old problem, crafting the Weightless Denim Beachcomber Pant to keep your gams cool as temps creep upward. These denim pants weigh in at a petite 6 ounces, making them virtually weightless in the world of pants; most jeans are considered “lightweight” at a 12-ounce weight. Made from a unique blend of cotton, Spandex, and Coolmax, these might be the lightest pair of denim around — and as far as construction, they feature DUER’s signature gusset as well as a Silvadur treatment to maintain freshness between washes. Rounded out with a covert button at the hem to keep your pants rolled up, you’ve got a pair of pants that deserve “wardrobe staple” status.

Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine
Save $130: Making a decent espresso at home requires a lot. You need a scale to weigh out a proper shot, you need a burr grinder to ensure you’re using fresh grounds and you need an espresso maker to pull everything together. The alternative is to get an espresso maker with all that built-in, and then some. Something like Breville’s Barista Express.

Among Breville’s line of espresso makers, the Barista Express stands out — it’s got all the additive performance features of its higher-priced siblings, but it’s the only all-in-one maker that’s not $1,000 or more. It’s got a built-in grinder and dose control, plus it’s operable in automatic and manual modes. The machine also features a really, really impressive milk wand and comes with all the ancillary parts needed to make it all go (tamper, milk jug, razor trim and so on). — Will Price

Weber Grills
Save Up to 25%: On Wayfair, nearly everything is on sale all the time. Exceptions typically include products from name brands — your KitchenAids, Brevilles and Staubs. Today, however, during the site’s annual Outdoor Sale, grilling’s biggest name brand has virtually its whole catalog of gas and charcoal grills marked down.

The majority of Weber’s grills are discounted anywhere from 15 to 30 percent off. The lot includes the compact Spirit II propane-fired grill, the most upgraded form of the classic kettle grill and others. — Will Price

Converse Jack Purcell Sneakers
Save 25%:Canadian badminton ace Jack Purcell designed his eponymous canvas sneaker back in the 1930s. Over the past eight decades, the style has gone essentially unchanged. It features a lightweight canvas upper, a rubber outsole with a signature ‘smile’ across the toe and medial eyelets for breathability. In the classic black colorway, it’s an essential spring sneaker: breathable, lightweight, casual. Normally $65, the style is 25 percent off at East Dane and now costs just $49. A range of sizes are still available but act fast because they’re selling quickly. — John Zientek

Persol Aviators
Save 71%:If you’ve been waiting to invest in an iconic pair of Persol sunglasses, Nordstrom Rack has a deal for you. Right now, you can save 71 percent on three different Italian-made Persols: the Aviator, the Sartoria and the Pilot models. Normally $350, these shades are now just $100 while supplies last. — John Zientek

Spyderco Endela Pocket Knife
Save 35%: Spyderco makes some of the most identifiable pocket knives available. It’s all thanks to that circular cutout, which founder Sal Glesser designed as a simple one-handed opening alternative to thumb studs and other add-ons. In the decades since he created it, it’s become iconic in the knife world and is present in every Spyderco pocket knife.

Spyderco’s Endela, which is currently on sale for 35 percent off at Drop, exerts that same essence of simplicity in all of its features. It has a 3.4-inch VG-10 stainless steel drop-point blade and a synthetic handle that keeps its overall weight low (3.1 ounces). It also uses a basic and well-executed lockback to keep the blade secure when it’s open. You can get it with a plain or serrated edge right now and save $43 while you’re at it. — Tanner Bowden

Adidas Solar Boost Sale
Save $50:Today you can pick up a pair of Adidas Solar Boosts for $50 off, which is a steal. These running shoes are great for the roads and the gym, so whether your workout of choice is lifting weights, running on the beach or hitting the trails, these sneakers will do it all. The Solar Boosts have the same beloved foam as the Ultraboosts, just with a more durable upper that won’t stretch as much with time. Pick up a pair today for only $110.
— Meg Lappe

2018 LG C8 OLED TV (65-inch)
Save 50%: LG’s 2018 C8 series of 4K OLED TVs are expensive. When they were released last past spring, a 65-inch model was going for $3,500. Almost a year later, however, that price has dropped over to around $2,597 — that’s over $1,000 off. But today eBay is running a deal on a brand-new C8 for $1,699 – that’s half off. Yes, it’s still expensive, but it’s not that bad considering that we’re talking about LG’s top-of-the-line 4K OLED TV. And LG makes the best 4K OLED TVs. |

Bulova Computron Digital Watch
Save 40%: At this year’s Baselworld, Bulova released a re-edition of the Computron, a unique LED watch with an angled display that allowed for ease of reading while driving. One of the three variants is this steel-cased version with blue LED. Featuring a day-date display and well as dual time zones and water-resistant to 30m, this re-issue with its matching bracelet brings back an awesome, futuristic look from the 1970s, reimagined in a unique colorway. Use the code “FRIEND” to take a total of 40% off the MSRP of the Computron and grab one for just $210. — Oren Hartov

Yeti Hopper Two 30 Soft-Sided Cooler
Save $60: Like getting a bonefish on the line or achieving the perfect smoke ring on a brisket, finding a deal on a Yeti cooler is tricky. More than anything else, it takes dedication and patience — when the moment of action arises, it requires swift decision-making (and a willingness to accept cut-rate analogies) if it’s not to be missed. That moment is now; Yeti recently dropped the price on one of its original soft-sided coolers, the Hopper Two 30, from $300 to $240.

Yeti made the Hopper Two 30 with its DryHide Shell, which is waterproof from the outside, leak-proof from the inside and resolutely puncture-resistant. It has a super-strong waterproof zipper and a shoulder strap that makes carrying it easy when it’s filled to the brim. It’s one of the best soft coolers at keeping ice frozen and drinks and food cold. If $240 still seems like a hefty price tag, remember that this thing is made to last a lifetime. — Tanner Bowden

Today In Gear: Montblanc’s Adventurous New Fragrance, 3 Common Cast-Iron Skillet Mistakes & More

Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and deals. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at tig@gearpatrol.com.

A scent can conjure up distant memories and bring them into sharp relief. Long forgotten adventures and far-flung locales, remarkable people, views better than any picture could be. If you want all of that sweeping spirit in a bottle you can keep with you, consider the wish granted — Montblanc has pulled together ingredients from all across the globe to craft a masculine, aromatic fragrance that’s undeniably worldly with enough refinement to attract the right kind of attention.

To achieve all this with its new Explorer Eau de Parfum spray, Montblanc’s perfumers scoured the globe for the perfect ingredients. The distinctive spicy-floral top note of the fragrance comes from Sicilian Bergamot; vetiver from Haiti grounds the combination with its warm, earthy tones. Indonesian Patchouli — exclusively cultivated for Montblanc to the highest ethical standards and with extreme quality control — boldly rounds out the body of the final scent. All of this is distilled into a weighty European-made bottle wrapped in textured leather, sporting the simple-but-iconic white Montblanc star.

Let Montblanc’s Explorer fragrance keep your voyages close at hand. Let it encourage you to make way for more.

Garmin InReach Mini
Save $50: In an always-connected world, it can sometimes seem inconceivable that there are still places that lack cell phone service. But they exist, and not only in the most remote locations imaginable, like the Atacama Desert or Himalaya, either. Drive just two hours away from New York City, and you’ll find yourself in the Catskill Mountains, which is where we tested seven off-grid satellite communication devices and found that Garmin’s InReach Mini, which is currently $50 off at Amazon, is the best you can buy.

The InReach Mini is, as its name implies, small (it weighs 3.5 ounces). But it packs a ton of utility: you can send and receive messages directly from the device or a paired phone, you can access offline maps and you can set it to automatically update friends and family with your location at set intervals of time. With the discount, it costs just $300, which is a small price to pay for the ability to stay in contact no matter where you go and the peace of mind that in the worst situations, help is a button push away. — Tanner Bowden
