Quick Take: The new Porsche Design 1919 Globetimer UTC introduces an interesting, pragmatic and creative take on the popular GMT complication. Combining a slick look done in Porsche Design’s distinctive style with functionality built for travelers, the brand has struck a winning combination with a watch available in the brand’s signature material, titanium, or in solid gold.

Who It’s For: GMT watches are often described as travel watches, but they are also genuinely useful for many people with relatives or business associates in other time zones. The Porsche Design 1919 Globetimer UTC, however, is probably most appropriate for traveling since it is the main time that the user adjusts via the pushers. Aside from its functionality, the appeal of the brand’s minimalist, futuristic-looking designs will be a matter of taste, and its 42mm case will be large for some wrists and perfect for others.

Key Features: Based on the simple Sellita SW200 automatic movement, the WERK 04.110 represents some major modifications. It features the main (“local”) time displayed normally, for which the pushers on the case side can set the hour hand easily in either direction. A pointer hand, distinguished by its large, colored arrow from the date arrow, reads a second time zone (“home time”) in 24-hour format. Finally, a day/night indicator rounds out functionality of the the watch, which is available in black or brown dials on leather; a blue dial on a titanium bracelet; or a black dial in a solid gold case on leather.
