LG has unveiled what it claims is the first gaming monitor to offer virtually zero response time, much to the delight of gamers the world over. Called LG UltraGear, the slick-looking new IPS display features a whopping response time of just 1ms. LG will offer it in 27-inch and 38-inch variants.
The smaller one boasts a Nano IPS panel, a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10 support, FreeSync technology, and a crosshair feature. This model also offers a handful of extras that enhance gaming like Black Stabilizer and Dynamic Sync. It’s not clear whether these two features will appear also on the 38-inch model.
The larger sibling packs a punch. It’s got Nvidia G-Sync and VESA DisplayHDR 400 support. While its refresh rate is the same as its smaller counterpart, do know that you can overclock it to 175Hz if you wish.
Aesthetics are nothing to sneeze at, too: both feature nearly bezel-less designs. And the 38-inch boasts a curved display profile as well. Its resolution is 3,840 x 1,600. The smaller model isn’t curved, unfortunately, but does offer beautiful images at 2,560 x 1,440.
LG has yet to announce an exact release date or official pricing for either models. Reports speculate the smaller one will hit shelves first. Preorders for LG UltraGear monitors open on July 1 for stateside folks; Europeans, meanwhile, will have to wait until the third quarter. When the 38-inch model will come out remains uncertain.
