One of the known caveats when riding a motorcycle is the limited number of choices you have for listening to music. Sure there are helmets that come with built-in Bluetooth speakers and mic combos, but these tend to be pricey. More often than not, these models can block out the ambient noise, which can be dangerous on the road.
The Domio Pro is an upcoming device that applies advanced technology to create an alternate sound-delivery platform. Unlike its predecessor that relied on the same feature to produce the acoustics within the helmet, the new version now comes with an Air Mic that uses dual-mic beamforming—to filter background noise for crystal clear communication. Furthermore, it can be mounted externally or internally depending on the user’s preference and comfort.
Both the Air Mic and the sound module are built to withstand the elements and wirelessly connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0. The estimated battery for the Domio Pro sits close to 10 hours on a single charge.
Using the manufacturer’s patented Vibro-Audio system, the transmitter creates micro-vibration pulses that turn the helmet’s shell into a makeshift dome speaker (hence the name Domio perhaps). Despite the description, you do not actually experience any the vibration—just the smooth aural quality of your music or call. For added safety, it does not completely overpower your hearing so you can still pay attention to what’s going on around you.
