Verdict: The Sinn 910 SRS is a follow-up, of sorts, to the 910 Schleppzeiger the beloved German brand debuted a couple years ago. Both have a similar vintage design aesthetic and both offer up complex chronograph movements. While the Schleppzeiger was an affordable take on the split-seconds chronograph, the SRS (which stands for “Stopp-Retour-Start”) is a flyback, a type of chronograph that can be reset without stopping the chronograph function. Like the split-seconds, it’s a tricky function to engineer, but Sinn managed to offer an affordable version by modifying the trusty Valjoux 7750 movement.

The result is a flyback chronograph you can buy under $4,000 which is quite the feat given that most others who offer the niche-within-a-niche movement are usually charging twice as much. And that’s to say nothing of the fact that it’s also a gorgeous watch and carries over much of the design elements we loved from the 910 Schleppzeiger: an off-white dial, red-accents and syringe-style hands.

Who It’s For: Sinn watches have always appealed to those who value toughness, engineering and utility over the finer aspects of watchmaking and the same goes here, given that it’s shockproof and anti-magnetic. Sinn’s watches usually have an aesthetic that matches their over-engineered innards, but this 910 has a classy vintage vibe to it that further widens its appeal beyond the tough-watch sect.
