Verdict: Continuing to add to its Black Bay lineup, Tudor introduced the Black Bay Fifty-Eight, a nod to the Tudor Submariner reference 7924 released in 1958, the brand’s first diver with a 200-meter depth rating. At first glance, it doesn’t look all that different from the stalwart Black Bay Black, but under closer inspection, there are tons of considered details that make this such an appealing addition to the lineup.

Like many of its watchmaking cohorts, Tudor is seemingly listening to the swarms of enthusiasts who have been asking for smaller case sizes for years. As such, it has downsized the case diameter from 41mm to 39mm, while slimming it from 14.75mm to 11.9mm. In doing so, Tudor made a Black Bay that, dimensionally, is far more in line with what the original reference 7924 looked and felt like. It’s also much more comfortable to wear than the larger Black Bay. Additionally, Tudor bestowed the Fifty-Eight with gold accents along the chapter ring and bezel that fit nicely with the black dial and cinch the neo-vintage look.

Who It’s For: The smaller, thinner, more authentic case size will surely resonate with vintage enthusiasts. And given the particularly slim case size, this is one diver that will be able to easily slip under a shirt cuff, making it a lot more versatile than the chunkier 41mm Black Bay.
