Verdict: Whenever Longines debuts a new vintage reissue it always seems to nail it, and this year’s new addition to its Heritage lineup — the succinctly named Heritage Military Watch — is no different. Longines says the design is based on a pilot’s watch supplied to the British RAF during WWII (more specifically, it looks like the 6B/159), and save for some barely-acceptable modernizing touches, it looks like it very well would have seen service during the 1940s. That’s because Longines went all out in creating an aged-looking dial in a faded off-white with light specks of faux patina here and there. Apparently, these spots are all randomly placed, so no two dials look the same.

Of course, there are some touches that bring it up to date. For starters, it’s an automatic (the 6B/159 was a hand-winder) and features a Longines-modified ETA movement with a 65-hour power reserve. The watch is also 38.5mm in diameter, a jump in size from the original but still relatively small for a modern watch.

Who It’s For: Vintage-style military watches are pretty big amongst menswear fanatics (look at all those Timex collaborations), so we’re sure this will appeal to them. Of course, it goes without saying that this will also be an appealing watch to vintage enthusiasts, too.
