When we’re thinking about armored vehicles, we picture gargantuan SUVs, stretch limos, and other custom platforms. On the other hand, modern manufacturing methods are coming up with lightweight armor for smaller transportation. Meanwhile, there are unique exceptions wherein these upgrades are applied to sportier models. Not long ago, we showcased the Armormax 2018 Dodge Charger RT, which is quite the rare specimen, but now we have the AddArmor APR RS7.

It’s difficult to believe that this sleek coupe packs some serious ballistic protection at first glance. However, AddArmor assures its clientele that everything is in place to keep its occupants safe from harm. Moreover, there are claims that the APR RS7 is currently the world titleholder for the fastest armored car. Clocking in with a max speed of 202 miles per hour, it’s easy to see why this $205,000 tank deserves that recognition.

Conventional armor adds a hefty bulk to any vehicle that uses it, which is why the AddArmor APR RS7 is vastly different. Instead of using steel plating, the company is slapping on a special polycarbonate composite. Even more impressive is the fact that this material reportedly performs better than its metal counterpart. Moreover, it’s a lightweight option that just adds less than 200 pounds to the coupe’s standard weight.

Nitpicking a little more reveals that its armor level rating is B4 and is enough to withstand small arms fire. Additionally, APR is tuning the engine to squeeze out 760 horsepower that allows it to go from standstill to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. The AddArmor APR RS7 is a solid choice if you want to quickly move maneuver out of a dicey situation.
