Fortnite and Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) are two of the most popular video games you can play right now, and they’re both eerily similar, positioning up to 100 players against each other in a battle royale, last-person-standing style contest. As for the differences, PUBG has better graphics, larger maps and different sets of in-game items and weapons. The big advantage of Fortnite, however, which recently surpassed PUBG in terms of popularity (according to Superdata Research), is that it’s free, while PUBG costs $30. Another similarity: you can now play both on your iPhone.

Up to this point, Fornite on iPhone was only available to those who had been invited to use its beta iOS program. However, Epic Games, the company behind the viral game, just announced via Twitter that anybody with an iPhone (iPhone SE and iPhone 6S or later) or iPad (iPad mini 4 and Air 2 or later) that’s running iOS 11 will be able to play the game. As per its business model, downloading the game is free.

PUBG released its own mobile of the game on iOS a few weeks back. You can download it here for free.

If you’re wondering how the iOS version of Fortnite compares to PC and console, Forbes‘s Erik Kain wrote that it’s “a pretty remarkable mobile port, though it’s still far from perfect.” The graphics aren’t as good, which shouldn’t be a huge deal as Fortnite has never been known for those. And controlling your player on mobile is obviously different as well. You can read his review of the beta program, here.

Personally, I’m not a Fortnite or (PUBG) player, but it’s affected me in a cruel way because all my friends who usually play FIFA 18 with me — specifically Pro Clubs — are now playing Fortnite instead. It’s been terrible. Hopefully, with the launch of this mobile app it’ll enable my friends to get their Fortnite fix during work hours so that they convert back to FIFA during the weekends. But I’m guessing this will only wet their appetite for this last-man-standing game.
