Creating a treadmill desk can be expensive and bulky, not to mention challenging to install. A company based in Brooklyn, Treadly, just created the world’s most straightforward treadmill. There’s no assembly — just unbox and start walking. At just five inches high, it stores easily under a bed, desk or just about anywhere you can dream. With speeds of just 3.7 MPH (pull up the hydraulic handrail to up the rate to 5.0 MPH), you can walk a leisurely pace of a 16:12-minute mile, all while writing emails or talking on the phone. It’s an easy way to test out a treadmill desk, especially when the special pricing is just $699 now.
Despite the lack of buttons to increase speed (you have to step quicker at the front of the treadmill and stand at the back to stop the belt) it does seem like a viable miniature treadmill for small space dwellers — and also people with shorter legs. Keep in mind the entire treadmill runs the width of 55-inches, and when you subtract the couple inches for the LCD screen, the belt isn’t that long. For anyone over 5’6″, this would likely be tricky to walk on, primarily because of the length of your legs and footsteps.
Shipping starts early July, and during the pre-sale, you can order the current model for $699 (similar in price to a Sunny Health & Fitness treadmill and a ProForm 505 CST). Once the pre-order phase is over, Treadly jumps back up in price to $1197, which is closer in price to something like a Sole Fitness F63.
