Over the last few years, Vizio has built some the best 4K TVs you could buy without crushing your life savings. I personally have a 2017 M-Series and it’s phenomenal. Now, Vizio just announced its 2018 lineup of P-Series, M-Series, D-Series and E-Series. You can check them all out on the company’s website, but they’re each incremental updates on last year’s models. As Chris Welch of The Verge points out, all of these new TVs have built-in TV tuners and coax inputs, which is why Vizio is referring to them as “TVs” and not just “displays.”
The standout of Vizio’s just-announced 2018 TVs is its new flagship series, the P-Series Quantum. It’s the company’s brightest 4K HDR TV yet, featuring UltraBright 2000 technology that enables the TV to get up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness. It also has excellent backlighting and contrast, with 192 local dimming zones, so the brights really pop and the blacks stay really dark. This is significantly better than Vizio’s next best 4K HDR TVs, its just announced 2018 P-Series, which delivers 1,000 nits of peak brightness and have 120 local dimming zones. Additionally, all of Vizio’s new TVs have Alexa and Google Assistant support, so you can integrate them seamlessly with your other smart home devices.
The P-Series Quantum only comes in a 65-inch model and, as you’d expect, it’s a bit pricier than any other Vizio 4K HDR TV. It costs $2,200, compared to the $1,800 that a new 65-inch P-Series will go for. The P-Series Quantum TV will be available this summer.
