Each year, ISPO looks at the leading brands in the sports industry and awards a handful of products the crown of outstanding products each year. Product selection begins the year prior with a nomination phase by the brands themselves or others. An independent jury from 15 countries and four continents evaluates hundreds of videos to determine what products are game-changers.
ISPO is one of the largest tradeshows in the world, and its awards are one of the most revered. We keep our eyes on the products coming out of ISPO to know what we should add to our gear testing and reviews in 2019. Last year’s winners included Hydrapak’s revolutionary 8-liter reservoir, a jacket by Blackyak and Páramo and a BMC bike. This year, ISPO looked at the outdoors and fitness space with a bit more of a stronger push towards sustainability.
Here are the four award-winning products for 2018.
Life Fitness Platinum Club Series Treadmill
The winner of the fitness category is the Life Fitness at-home treadmill. The Platinum Club series provides all the bells and whistles that you expect from a gym treadmill but tailored to home gym use.
Grüezi Biopod Downwool Nature Sleeping Bag
The product of the year for the outdoors category is the Biopod DownWool Nature bag. This sleeping bag from Grüezi prides itself on having 100 percent natural materials — from the packaging to the pull tabs — every detail is sustainable.
Select Ultimate iBall
The Team sports winner highlights the trend of connectivity. This soccer ball has a built-in chip to record ball speed, shot detection, shot position and more.
Mammut SOTA HS Hooded Jacket
This jacket wants to make your adventures easier. The three-layer ski jacket is breathable and uses a 3D knitting technique that reduces seams and tapes, so the coat is still durable.
