Today’s Best Deals: Savings on a Device for Less Distracted Sleep, a Big Motorcycle Helmet Sale & More

Welcome to Deals of Note, where Gear Patrol captures all the best deals of the day. You can also follow all our deal posts in the Deals section. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at deals@gearpatrol.com.

A lot of us have issues staying asleep, tossing and turning all through the night, but a good night sleep is crucial for our health and well-being. When in fitful sleep, it can be easy to grab your phone or check the time to see if you should just get up and start the day. That is why Mark Zuckerberg came up with a concept to help his wife’s sleep and shared his idea in a Facebook post — of course. Based on his idea, Zucklight was created — a sleep box designed to help you sleep through the night without distractions. The concept is simple, a small sleep box emits a faint light during specific periods of the night — all set through an intuitive smartphone app — to notify whether you can try to get some more shut-eye or it’s time to wake up. So if you happen to wake up in the middle of the night, you can return to sleep without having to check the time. You can grab the Zucklight in three different models that include a wireless charging station, environmental sensors and even a sound system, so it can perfectly fit your needs. Right now, you can get up to 50% off if you pre-order through Zucklight’s Kickstarter campaign.

Incredible High-End Motorcycle Helmet Sale
Save Up to 53%: Your motorcycle gear isn’t something to take for granted. What you wear when you ride can literally save your skin, so it’s worth investing a little extra money to make sure you’re protected as well as possible.
However, while the motorcycle lifestyle can have a tantalizingly low cost of entry compared to owning a car, buying the necessary protective clothing — pants, jackets and especially helmets — can quickly run up a steep tab, making the cheaper, lesser options more attractive, even if they may not be quite as good.

Right now, however, is the time to upgrade your head protection if there ever was one. Right now over at Revzilla, there’s an insane sale on top-of-the-line motorcycle helmets. You can save up to $700 on select top-tier motorcycle helmets from brands like AGV, Schuberth and Bell. Foehn Brise Short
Save 20%: Foehn may describe itself as a rock climbing apparel company, and it may have come together when its designer-founder, Anthony Boronowski, sought a pair of pants that skillfully combined style and function. But Foehn’s products have always been for much more than scaling granite walls — its Nelson pant is stylish enough for city wear, and its Robson Down Hoody is perfect for winter commuting. The same is true for the company’s newest product, the Brise Short.

The Brise Short channels the same design philosophies that Boronowski demanded of his first pants: that they be as functional as possible while sacrificing nothing in terms of style. So he made the shorts using a four-way stretch fabric, a comfortable waistband, laser-cut, bonded hems. That taped zipper pocket on the thigh is accessible while wearing a climbing harness but also serves as a handy place to stash anything you don’t need at your side. I’ve been wearing these shorts all summer and have yet to rope up in them. Instead, I lounge in them, run in them, travel in them and wear them to work. They’ve also become my go-to for hiking. — Tanner Bowden

G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Electric Guitar
Save 40%: In 1979, legendary electric guitar designer Leo Fender started a new brand called G&L with two former Fender executives. His goal was to improve upon Fender’s iconic designs with better pickups, bridges and construction. More recently, the brand established its Tribute series, offering affordable takes on the upgraded instruments.

Dainese Misano D-Air Perforated Jacket
Save 48%: In case you hadn’t figured it out yet, motorcycles aren’t as safe as cars. No matter how much defensive and proactive riding we do, life on two wheels out on the open road is inherently more dangerous than driving. The best thing motorcycle riders can do to keep themselves safe, then, is wearing the right gear — an armored jacket, pants, boots and gloves — to stave off possible injury. Dainese took a giant leap forward with its top-of-the-line riding gear incorporating the D-Air system. And right now, you can get the Misano D-Air Perforated Jacket for $700 less than it normally costs.

Using a wireless airbag system, microprocessor, internal sensors and a GPS system, a D-Air equipped jacket can determine if an accident is imminent and deploy extra protection in less than 15 milliseconds to protect the riders shoulders, collarbone and body. The inflated airbags will also mitigate helmet roll in an accident, keeping your lid from making direct contact with the collarbone. It’s a technology only top-level MotoGP riders and racers had access to until recently, but now it’s available for street riding…and right now, it’s 41% off. — Bryan Campbell

Hydro Flask Journey Series Hydration Backpack
Save $60: When Hydro Flask, the maker of some of our favorite water bottles, revealed its first hydration backpack, we were impressed. We weren’t surprised though — it’s no shocker that a company focused on providing the best ways to carry water would do a pack justice. The Journey Series Hydration Pack uses a reflective neoprene sleeve to keep a full bladder cold for hours. Hydro Flask made the bag with a tough waterproof fabric, and it’s suspended with a comfortable mesh back panel that provides lots of airflow (to help your back from getting too sweaty). The pack is brand new this year, but as part of Huckberry’s summer clearance sale, you can pick one up for 30 percent off. — Tanner Bowden

Finex 12-Inch Cast-Iron Skillet
Save $66: Finex’s quirky, octagonal cast-iron skillets have earned the brand a larger following than any of its boutique cast-iron cookware competition. Today on Drop, get the 12-inch skillet (with a lid) for $66 less than its normal $275. — Will Price

According to the company’s own website, in 1976, Mitch Arai decided to take his family’s helmet company from an average gear maker into, in his words, “the number one helmet manufacturer in the world.” Arai was passionate about developing the safest helmet possible for racers, because the Arai family also raced. They set out to meet this goal by dedicating development to creating consistent shell strength and shape, as well as focusing on interior lining materials and stitching to better soak up any impending impact. All of this time and dedication to quality and racing culture has cemented Arai in the annals of motorsport over the last 40 years. Goruck designed the MACV-1 to be lightweight and durable with materials like premium full-grain leather, 1000-denier Cordura and a robust footbed. McCarthy enlisted Paul Litchfield, the inventor of the Reebok Pump, and Richard Rice, a Special Forces veteran, to get the boot to the middle ground between modern and military footwear. The boot is currently on sale — for the first time that we’ve seen — for 20 percent off. — Tanner Bowden

Naglev Unico Hiking Shoe
Save $57: A pair of handmade hiking boots can cost as much as $750, but right now there’s a pair made by a small Italian brand called Naglev available for $173, which is 25 percent off its regular price of $230. Before you discount that as small change, know that the shoe, called the Unico Hiker, is unlike any other hiking shoe available (it’s also on our list of the best hiking boots available).

Naglev is based in the Alps, where outdoor footwear was invented, and it created the Unico to function as a middle ground between a hiking boot and a trail running sneaker. It calls to mind approach shoes (sturdy, low-cut hiking shoes typically used by rock climbers who face long treks through technical terrain on the way to a climb), but it’s built much differently. The upper is made of one single piece of Kevlar fabric — yes, the same stuff used to make body armor — and its inside is lined with a sock-like wool liner. This construction creates a remarkably durable shoe that’s unexpectedly comfortable, and entirely unique. — Tanner Bowden

Adirondack Chairs
Save 54%: On July 18, 1905, summer porch-sitting royalty was born. Officially invented by one Harry Bunnell, the Adirondack chair was described at the time as “a new and useful Improvement in Chairs” in its patent. The improvement was Bunnell’s want to be relaxed as hell.

The chair was designed to require the sitter to lean back, kick their feet up and made it intentionally challenging to remove themselves from the seat. More than 100 years later, Bunnell’s chair still kicks ass. Today on Sierra Trading Post, get Aspen Brand’s collapsible take on it for 54 percent off the sticker price. — Will Price

If you can survive without this, you can save $150 by buying the first-generation headphones — the Bose QC35 (Series I) — on eBay. They’re refurbished models, granted, but eBay has a pretty lenient return policy. Also, great noise-canceling headphones for under $200 is a rare deal. — Tucker Bowe

Gerber Jukebox Pocket Knife
Save 23%: Of all the reasons to buy a knife — size, steel quality, price and the rest — looks, beauty, often rises to the top. And it should. It’s okay to be vain when purchasing a tool that you plan to carry daily, to match it to your watch or wallet or to go in the opposite direction with something bizarre and unconventional. Gerber’s folding Jukebox might fit into either of those categories, and despite that it just came out this summer, it’s already on sale for 23 percent off.

The Jukebox’s 2.7-inch blade, which Gerber designed as an homage to the straight razors used by barbers, is accompanied by a distinct acrylic resin handle that comes in either tortoiseshell or marble. It has an extended flipper tab that creates a unique opening action and an integrated liner lock to hold it closed. These features, along with its sheepsfoot blade, ensure that it remains highly functional despite its overt showiness. The Jukebox doesn’t just go with the keys in your pocket; pair it with a bottle of Old Forester, vintage Ray-Bans, a custom Fender guitar or an Indian motorcycle. — Tanner Bowden

They also include removable backpack straps that make carrying one a breeze, even when it’s fully loaded.

The 60-liter version is arguably the most versatile size; it’s big enough to pack everything you’ll need for a weekend or a week, and it still fits into the overhead bins on planes. We’ve put this bag through its paces on all kinds of adventures, from a ski weekend in Vermont to a month-long trip to Ecuador. It’s one of the best rugged duffel bags available, and right now it’s also 25 percent off at Backcountry in nearly every volume.

Black Diamond Spot Headlamp
Save $15: If there’s one camping accessory to buy for summer, it’s a headlamp. And Black Diamond’s Spot, which is currently only $25 at Amazon (a 37 percent discount) is better than a safe bet. It’s simple, but don’t take that to mean it’s basic. The Spot uses three AAA batteries, is fully waterproof, and features a main light with 300 lumens of brightness. According to Black Diamond, it can shoot a beam of light 80 meters (262 feet), but we’re more impressed by how easily you can swap between its various modes (beam, flood, strobe, red night vision) and how its brightness is adjustable as necessary.

Black Diamond recently updated the Spot — it’s smaller, brighter and has a second button — and the model that’s on sale is the older one. At $25 (for the black colorway; other hues are a bit more), it’s still an excellent deal on a headlamp that we’ve considered to be the best for years. But if you have to have what’s new, the updated version is only $11 more (you can buy it here). — Tanner Bowden

Save up to $156: Now at Guitar Center, you can save over $100 on a range of classic Fender guitar amps. The Silverface ’68 Custom reissue line — a Princeton, a Deluxe Reverb, a Vibrolux Reverb and a Twin Reverb — is currently discounted. These classic tube amps recreate styles from a transitional year in Fender’s amp production: the tones were classic Fender — warm and bell-like — but they were also noticeably dirtier than amps produced in the mid-‘60s. The amps also presented a new aesthetic with a silver-and-turquoise front panel and an aluminum grille-cloth trim. Rarely on sale, these amps have open-box discounts of up to $156 — hard to argue with that for brand-new gear. — John Zientek grey_placeholder

Schuberth ED1 ADV Motorcycle Helmet
Save 65%: Properly putting your big adventure bike to the test means racking up hundreds if not thousands of miles — both on the road and off. For those types of rides, you need equipment that will not only go the distance itself, but make it easier for you to go that far. And few helmets can outgun the Schuberth E1 in that territory.

By putting the engineers to work in the aeroacoustics lab, Schuberth created some of the quietest helmets on the road — and in the E1’s case, off the road as well. Wind noise and lift are at an all-time minimum, even with the E1’s articulating sun visor made for off-road riding. The E1 also comes with a built-in antenna — ready for Schuberth’s SRC-System, which doubles as a GPS, and has Bluetooth connectivity and an intercom for communicating with your buddies out on the road.

It’s one of the most technologically advanced and comfortable helmets on the road, and it usually goes for close to $900. But right now it’s selling for a whopping 65% off, at just $300 — Bryan Campbell

CRKT Swindle Pocket Knife
Save 34%: Deception lies at the core of CRKT’s aptly-named Swindle pocket knife. Closed, the Swindle appears to be a fairly-typical folder with a thumb stud opening. But the stud isn’t mounted to the knife’s spine; in fact, it isn’t part of the blade at all. The actual knife blade betrays conventional designs, deploying with a flipper tap from the other side to produce what CRKT describes as an “uphill curve.” The decoy stud isn’t just that either — that bit of protruding steel is an equally-unique, spring-assisted pocket clip that leaves the Swindle’s handle smooth.

Designed by revered knife maker Ken Onion, the Swindle won the award for “Most Innovative Imported Design” at the 2013 Blade Show and has continued in CRKT’s production line since. The blade is just over three inches and comes in two versions — one made of high-carbon steel, and a premium version with Sandvik stainless steel and a milled handle. The basic version is currently on sale at Amazon for 34 percent off. — Tanner Bowden

In 1952, he hired James D’Aquisto –another revered name in the jazz guitar community — as an apprentice and worked with him for 12 years, until D’Anglico’s sudden death in 1964. Since then, the company has gone through many changes, but its instruments still reflect the designs of the founder.

One of the Quietest Motorcycle Helmets On the Market Is On Sale Today
Save 53%: Riding a motorcycle is a delight for the senses, but it can grow a little weary on the ears after a while. Between the roar of the wind rushing past and the drone of the engine, it doesn’t take long for the sounds of a ride to push into the irritation zone — or even start to cause causing hearing damage.
Of course, a good helmet can help offset those potentially-deafening noises. And right now, one of the quietest helmets on the market today—the Schuberth C4 Spark Helmet—is on sale for a massive 53 percent off at RevZilla. If you’ve been thinking about grabbing a new lid now that riding season has picked back up and you’re a fan of this German helmet’s style, there’s no reason to wait. — Will Sabel Courtney

Breville Barista Express
Save $120: Among Breville’s line of espresso makers, the Barista Express stands out — it features all the additive performance features of its higher-priced siblings, but it’s the only all-in-one maker that’s not $1,000 or more. It’s got a built-in grinder and dose control, plus it’s operable in automatic and manual modes. The machine also employs an impressive milk wand and comes with all the ancillary parts needed to make it all go (tamper, milk jug, razor trim and so on). — Will Price grey_placeholder

Jabra Elite 65e Noise-Canceling Headset
Save $170: The Jabra Elite 65e headset is arguably the best value proposition for anybody who wants in-ear headphones with active noise cancellation. Their nearest rival is the Bose QuietComfort 30, which costs $299, and that’s $99 more than the Jabra Elite 65e.

If you’re looking for a really sweet deal on in-ear noise-canceling headphones, you can buy a refurbished pair of Jabra Elite 65e on eBay for just $30. That’s a pretty steep discount. If you’re looking for a new pair, Amazon is discounting the Jabra Elite 65e for $159 right now. — Tucker Bowe

Ray-Ban Polarized Aviators
Save 25%: Since 1936, aviator sunglasses have protected the eyes of pilots across the world. The original Bausch and Lomb model was branded ‘Ray-Ban’ upon release to the public, and over the later half of the 20th century, it became a staple style for civilians. The design hasn’t changed that much and features convex tear-drop lenses and thin metal frames.

Now at Zappos, you can save 25 percent on a pair of classic Ray-Ban polarized aviators. According to California eyewear designer Dave Barton, these are worth the money. “One of the best values out there is a glass polarized Ray-Ban aviator,” he told us. “That’s a great quality lens and they’ve been doing it for years.” So act fast — these shades are now just $153. — John Zientek

The pack charges with a USB, so you won’t depend on batteries, but you can pack two AA ones as a backup.

The 26-liter pack will fit everything you need to be out all day long — from food to a neck warmer to more layers, plus a first aid kit and water. Fender Custom Shop NAMM Custom Built ’63 Journeyman Relic Jazzmaster Guitar
Save $186: Legendary guitar maker Fender is best known for its Stratocaster and Telecaster guitars, but the brand produces a number of other iconic models worth playing. One of these hidden gems is the Jazzmaster, a guitar with an offset body that initially debuted in 1958 and was later discontinued in 1980.

The guitar was re-released in ’84 from Fender’s Japanese factory (a ’62 reissue model) and then in ’99 as part of the American Vintage Series. Now, various iterations of the style are accessible across Fender’s range of guitars from affordable Squire instruments to collector-level Custom Shop guitars.

Currently, this Jazzmaster is reduced by almost $200 because it has an open box. Any discount on a mint-condition Custom Shop guitar is welcome, and it’s hard to argue with savings like this on such a detail-oriented axe. — John Zientek

It’s also got a screw-down crown, unidirectional dive bezel, 200m of water resistance and a blue silicone dive strap, all for just $335 in celebration of July 4th. The 2019 MacBook Pro
Save $100: The 13-inch MacBook Pro has been updated more considerably. First of all, it’s now impossible to buy a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with a row of function keys — everyone will now have a Touch Bar. Apple has given these MacBook Pros newer, better and faster Intel processors, as well as Touch ID so you can unlock them with just your finger. Just like the new MacBook Airs, these new 13-inch MacBook Pros will have newer updated keyboards. The price of the new MacBook Pro has been dropped by $100, too; they start at $1,299 (or $1,099 if you’re a college student) instead of the previous $1,399. — Tucker Bowe grey_placeholder

Engineered Garments x Uniqlo Polo Shirts
Save 33%: Uniqlo’s latest collaboration is with another Japanese brand that workwear aficionados might already be familiar with: Engineered Garments. The range currently consists of slouchy, oversized polo shirts that feature unconventional patterns and construction; some are made with patched panels, and several feature screen-printed patterns. And for those looking to play it safe(r) there’s a plain, standard polo — still distinctly belonging in this collection — available in three neutral colors. Coming from someone who’s tried them on, you’d be safe going down a full size if you want the great fabrics and construction with a slightly more conventional fit.

Engineered Garments items don’t typically come at a low price; a mesh polo from the brand currently retails for $236, and its outerwear can easily exceed the $400 mark. But because Uniqlo is Uniqlo, you can stock up for summer with these of-the-moment polo shirts for just $20. — John Zientek

Iconic Vans Sneakers
Save up to 48%: If you’re in need of some new sneakers for the warm-weather months, head over to Todd Snyder today. Right now, you can save up to 48 percent on a bunch of iconic styles from Vans. Choose from slip-on and lace-up styles in a range of colors — prices start at just $29. — John Zientek

Wüsthof Chef’s Knife
Save 46%: There are three types of chef’s knives.

First, there’s the value knife, typically made of hardwearing, easy-to-dull stainless steel, that goes for $30 to $45 (think Victorinox’s Fibrox knife). The second comes in just under $100; the steel here keeps an edge longer, but it isn’t forged and, thus, it’s susceptible to chipping. But you’ll typically have to spend upward of $150 for a forged chef’s knife, something like Wüsthof’s Classic 8-Inch Chef’s Knife — a wide bevel knife designed in a classically German style.

The Wüsthof Classic is made of a stainless steel composite containing more carbon than is normal for a stainless blade, granting it some of the attributes associated with carbon steel knives (like markedly easier sharpening).

Today on Ebay, you can get it for 46 percent off. That’s more than $60 cheaper than its listed price on Amazon. — Will Price

Kammok Bobcat Trail Quilt
Save 20%: The Bobcat looks like a sleeping bag that’s been given the blanket treatment — it’s rectangular with down-filled diamond baffles — but it hides an array of smart features that give it the extra functionality it needs to become a reliable piece of camping gear. For one, Kammok used top-notch Atmos 20D ripstop nylon and responsibly-sourced, water repellent down. It also has cinch cords at either end and snaps running down its sides so that it can effectively close up like a sleeping bag if that’s the way you want to use it. It also comes with straps that link it to your sleeping pad so it won’t fall off in the middle of the night and a conversion kit that turns it into an underquilt for sleeping in a hammock. These attributes make the Bobcat ideal for backpacking and camping, but even if you have no use for them the quilt is still a warm and light solution for the home or the camper.

The Bobcat is rated for comfortable use down to 45 degrees Fahrenheit, weighs 19 ounces and packs down to the size of a football. Kammok initially launched the quilt on Kickstarter, where it earned over $265,000 (of a $50,000 goal). Right now, you can pick up the trail quilt at Huckberry for 20 percent off. — Tanner Bowden

Free Fly Hydro Short Sale
Save 30%: If you pack a pair of Free Fly’s Hydro shorts in your weekender, it’s all you’ll need for beach and lake vacations. Surf, swim and cannonball without tugging at the waistband of these flexible shorts. Thanks to the UPF 50+ rating, these work wonders for any lazy river excursions. When you’re ready to hang up your shorts, you’ll be thankful for the quick-drying bamboo fabric. Skip the washer and don’t bother worrying about any smell issues — the bamboo charcoal is naturally antibacterial and odor-resistant. Pick up a pair today for $20 off in a couple of colors. — Meg Lappe grey_placeholder

The 2019 MacBook Air
Save $100: The new MacBook Air now has True Tone display technology, which allows it to automatically brighten or dim depending on the ambient light in the room; this is designed to help colors look more natural, but it’s also a feature that can be turned off, of course. The price of the new MacBook Air has been dropped by $100, too, meaning it now starts at just $1,099 (or $999 if you’re a college student). It should also be noted that the new MacBook Air will have redesigned keyboards, which Apple introduced this past May. — Tucker Bowe

Sonos Playbar

Weber Rapidfire Charcoal Starter
Save 24%: The biggest pain point in charcoal grilling happens before the food is out of the fridge. Properly lighting charcoal has always been a contentious, frustrating and tedious subject. The cover-it-in-lighter-fluid approach can be fast, but imparts chemical flavors onto food, and you can only burn so many napkins before giving up.

The fastest way to light coals naturally is a charcoal chimney, and Weber’s already-affordable option is on sale today. Place the chimney on the grates of your grill, fill it with charcoal and light a wad of newspaper underneath. Once your coals start to turn gray (usually about 20 minutes), dump them in the base of the grill and you’re ready to cook. The Weber chimney is a little more than 25 percent off today on Amazon. — Will Price

Evergoods CTB 40 Travel Backpack
Save $74: Rollaboard luggage has recently met its successor as carry-on king in the travel backpack. We’re don’t mean hiking backpacks or duffels with backpack straps; we’re talking about a new breed of bags that are a hybrid of the lot. Typically, they open on a hinge like a hardshell suitcase, are as spacious as duffels and, like backpacks, use a supportive shoulder strap system (that usually tucks away when unneeded) and have lots of internal organization. One of our favorites of this new class of bags is Evergoods’s CTB40, which is $74 off today. — Tanner Bowden

Cotopaxi Fuego Lt Down Jacket
Save $115: It might seem imprudent, foolhardy or even irresponsible to buy a down jacket in the midst of a steamy summer — your cash is better spent on a bathing suit or a new hiking pack, right? Most will agree here, and both brands and retailers respond with discounts to move their insulating layers off the shelves. Cotopaxi is doing just that; its lightweight Fuego Down Jacket is currently 50 percent off, and lots of other items like windbreakers and fleeces are discounted, too. As far as down jackets go, the Fuego is already notably affordable at its regular price of $230, but at $115, it’s the cheapest you’re likely to see a coat of this quality. To put that into context, that means that you can get a $130 backpack (one of our favorites) for $26, or a $30 sweat-wicking t-shirt for $6, or a $140 rugged duffel for $35. There’s more too; mountain biking apparel, fleeces, rain jackets included. — Tanner Bowden grey_placeholder

BeatsX In-Earheadphones
Save $40: The BeatsX in-ear headphones were released in early 2017 and they were significant at the time because they were the first wireless headphones — bar AirPads — to feature Apple’s W1 chip, which allowed them to pair with any iPhone. They were also sweat resistant, which AirPods weren’t (and still aren’t), so it was much safer to run or workout them. Apple has lowered the price of the BeatsX to $100 (they were $150 at launch), which is a pretty good deal for wireless sport headphones as it is. And while you can still get them for $100 on Apple’s website, there are ways of getting an even better deal. For example, eBay is selling new BeatsX models for just $60. And you can get them in a variety of colors. — Tucker Bowe grey_placeholder

Save Up to $50: The title says it all: Almost every one of Google’s smart speakers is on sale right now. If you’re looking for a dedicated speaker, you can find deals on the Google Home Max, Google Home and Google Home Mini, too, all on the Google Store website. The only thing that’s not on sale is the Nest Home Max ($229), the company’s largest smart display. — Tucker Bowe

Weber Spirit Gas Grills
Save $51: Weber’s charcoal grills are loved because they’re simple, made with quality materials and last forever. Though significantly less iconic, its gas grills are a slightly higher-tech extension of this.

The Spirit line is the company’s lowest-end model, but it’s no exception. Instead of flimsy, low-gauge stainless steel components, the Spirit line is outfitted with a cast aluminum interior, enameled cast-iron grill grates and an easy-to-clean drip tray. Spirit grills also have a category-leading 10-year warranty on all parts and pieces. Today on Amazon, the Spirit II (two-burner model) and Spirit III (three-burner model) are both marked down $51. Julbo Vermont Classic Sunglasses
Save $61: Mountain-inspired sunglasses with shields on the temples and bridge are common today — you can get a pair for $89 from Sunski or for more than $500 from Vuarnet — but in 1950, when the French company Julbo released its Vermont glacier glasses, they were cutting-edge. Julbo aimed to provide mountain climbers with sufficient protection against the intense light in the high snowy and icy environments (UV rays bounce off these reflective surfaces and cause snow blindness).

Seven decades later, Julbo maintains that intention, and while it now uses polycarbonates and wrap-around designs to make lightweight sunglasses for use at high altitudes, the Vermont continues to justify itself in function and, with its iconic mountain aesthetic, style too. Julbo recently re-released the sunglasses, which are now dubbed the Vermont Classic, and right now they’re on sale at Drop for $61 off. — Tanner Bowden

Otterbox Elevation 64 Growler
Save 30%: We talk a lot about the importance of staying hydrated, and it is critical, especially during hot, humid summer days. However, some liquid storage products are ideal for carrying other types of beverages, too. Consider the growler, the ultimate vessel for toting one of man’s greatest inventions: beer.

Many breweries offer the opportunity to take home samples not just in bottles and cans, but in 64 oz. growler form. And they’ll gladly fill yours up if you bring your own. That’s four true pints, more than enough to socialize with, that’ll stay cold for days in the right unit. Our current fave: Otterbox’s Elevation 64, currently on sale for $49, 30 percent off its $70 retail price.

Right now you can score this stainless steel deal as well as 20 to 30 percent off select models of the Elevation 10-, 16-, 20- and 28-oz. tumblers. Click around for the discounts and remember to, ahem, stay hydrated. — Steve Mazzucchi

In addition to deals on the P-Series Quantum X, Vizio is also discounting its other high-end and midrange lines of P-Series Quantum and M-Series Quantum, respectively. — Tucker Bowe

Dainese Harrison Leather Jacket
Save 40%: Generally speaking, fashion-forward motorcycle jackets tend to be fairly useless against the elements, and they generally don’t offer much in the way of real protection against skids and spills. That’s where the Dainese Harrison leather jacket breaks from the mold, however. Its stylish four-pocket design and hand-dyed leather outer construction offer the look of a stereotypical all-form-no-function jacket, but hidden underneath the shoulders and elbows lies functional Pro-Shape Armor. There’s even a pocket in the back to accommodate a Dainese back protector. In addition to protection from impacts, the Harrison jacket also comes with a quilted thermal liner to keep out the wind chill when cruising down the road.
This is one of Dainese’s top-tier jackets, normally retailing for $800 — so being able to buy it for $320 cheaper than that price, as you can right now at Revzilla, pretty much counts on a steal. — Bryan Campbell

Red Wing Pecos Boots
Save 44%: Red Wing made a name for itself building work boots for farmers and factory employees in the Upper Midwest, but the company also had an office in Dallas that opened in the early 1920s. To serve the Texas market — where men preferred pull-on riding boots — Red Wing developed its own version of this style in the ’30s. By the ’50s, it had refined the style and given it the name of a small Texas town: Pecos. And while the boots were developed in the rugged West, they quickly became a favorite across the country due to their simple silhouette, comfortable fit and field-tested durability.

Now at Nordstrom Rack, you can save 44 percent on a pair of iconic Red Wing Pecos boots. The pull-on style is modeled on a roper boot with a shorter heel, designed to handle a day of walking. Available in both Sand and Olive rough-out leather, the hard-wearing style will serve you for years to come — and now it costs as little as $180. — John Zientek

Case Knives Mini Trapper Pocket Knife
Save 36%: It might be hard to imagine that a small, simple pocket knife like Case’s Mini Trapper could be collectible — especially when you can find other similar blades adorned with gems and bone — but it’s true. That’s thanks to Case Knives’s century-plus long history of crafting in the United States, as well as its orderly system of stamping each of its knives with a logo accompanied by small dots and Xs that denote the year in which it was produced. It’s a subtle detail that adds an element of time to a favorite blade and, for those with a mind to collect, a way to tell the difference between two knives born decades apart.

Just starting your Case Knives collection? The Mini Trapper, a model that’s characterized by two blades that are both under three inches in length, one a clip point and the other a spey point, is on sale at Huckberry with a synthetic yellow handle for 36 percent off, which brings it down to just $32. — Tanner Bowden

Swedish brand åäö doesn’t care if you can pronounce its name (it’s something like owa-ah-uh); what it cares about is how you cover up the lower half of your body as we’ve noted before with their shorts. Soludos makes a few affordable options, with canvas or leather uppers and durable rubber soles. Now, these espadrilles are 30 percent off at East Dane and cost as little as $53 — not a lot to pay for the amount of wear you’ll get out of them this season. — John Zientek

Dainese Misano D-Air Perforated Jacket
Save 41%: No matter how much defensive and proactive riding we do, life on two wheels out on the open road is inherently more dangerous than driving. The best thing motorcycle riders can do to keep themselves safe is wear the right gear — an armored jacket, pants, boots and gloves. Even then, though, it’s always not enough. Seat belts just aren’t an option on a bike…but these days, airbags can be. It’s a technology only top-level MotoGP riders and racers had access to until recently, but now it’s available for street riding…and right now, it’s 41 percent off. -— Bryan Campbell
