Today in Gear: Coffee Luxury in Your Kitchen, an Iconic Nike Running Sneaker Is Back & More

Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and deals. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at tig@gearpatrol.com.

Even though we all love a perfectly pulled espresso drink (we are partial to cortados around here), the idea of having a professional espresso machine of your own can seem daunting. The JURA GIGA 6 should put you at ease. This Swiss-made professional machine, crafted for your countertop, is easy to navigate with its touchscreen display — or even from JURA’s app for those planning ahead. The GIGA 6 is a completely programmable machine and can whip up 28 different drinks with just one touch, from cappuccinos and flat whites to Americanos and cortados. The two ceramic grinders also mean you can change up your beans with ease. To keep the JURA GIGA 6 spick and span, it also features automated cleaning and maintenance. With this machine on the market, you have every reason to bring a bit of luxury into your kitchen.

Sony WH-1000XM3 Noise-Canceling Headphones
Save $150: Right now, eBay is selling refurbished Sony WH-1000XM3 noise-canceling headphones for under $200. That’s a pretty terrific deal considering these are arguably the best noise-canceling headphones you can buy, and new models typically cost around $350.

If you’ve been wanting to purchase some really great noise-canceling headphones, which are right up there with the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 ($399) and the Bose QuietComfort 35 II, then you should jump on this eBay deal. — Tucker Bowe

Dyson V8 Cordless Vacuum
Save $120: Every year, Dyson charts new territory in the vacuum world with iterative improvements upon older models, usually in the form of more battery and power. This year’s V11 also brought additional space in the dustbin and a novel LCD display that tells users how much juice is left in the battery — both great features if you’re willing to pony up $699 for the latest and greatest in suction tech.

For the rest of us, Dyson’s discounted back catalog still boasts some of the most impressive vacuums ever known to man. And in 2019, none represents a better balance of price and performance than the three-year-old V8.

The V8 has plenty of suction (115 airwatts), up to 40 minutes of runtime (seven minutes on full power), a washable HEPA filter and, of course, it comes with Dyson’s legendary warranty. The cherry on top: you can buy the $450 vacuum directly from Dyson for just $330 today. — Will Price

Anker PowerLine II Charging Cable
Save $7: The Anker PowerLine II is a three-in-one charging cable that features swappable heads for Lightning, USB-C and micro-USB. This means that with this one charging cable you’re able to charge your iPhone, Sony WH-1000M3 headphones or Nintendo Switch, or whatever else that still charges via micro-USB (like running headphones or a compact camera). If you’re traveling, the PowerLine II essentially eliminates the need for you to bring many of your other charging cables. Right now, you can purchase the normally $18 charging cable for just $11 on Amazon – just makes sure to enter the promo code ANKER8436 at checkout. You can never have too many. — Tucker Bower

The Internet’s Best Deal Motorcycle Helmet Deal Is Even Better, But Not for Long
Save Up to 65%: Five percent off may not seem like much of a bargain. It’s a nickel you don’t have to spend on a $1 purchase, or $1,250 off the price of a $25,000 car; it’s the sort of deal that you’re glad to eke out, but you’re not likely to feel as though you got away with something.

Add it on top of a larger bargain, however, and that 5% starts to feel way more important. Case in point: For a limited time, RevZilla is offering an extra 5% off all of its closeout deals — including the stellar motorcycle helmet deals it has on offer. If you don’t mind rocking previous seasons’ styles (or, in some cases, have a tiny head), you can get great helmets for as much as 65% off with this deal, knocking some expensive lids down to well below $500.

The trick? All you have to do is use the code 5OFFNOW at checkout. That’s it. Pop that in, and you just saved a few extra dollars on top of the rest of your savings.

Of course, the deal is also valid on everything else RevZilla has on clearance — amazing motorcycle jackets, solid boots, great gloves, even motorcycle parts, electronics and luggage. But helmets are one of the places where you can score the most notable deals at the site, so we’re highlighting them here. (Also, y’know, they’re kind of the most important piece of riding gear you should have.) — Will Sabel Courtney

Filson Bandera Backpacks
Save 43%: Founded in 1897, Seattle-based Filson made a name for itself outfitting some of the hardest workers in the West. It’s bags accompanied workers to the rugged Alaskan wilderness and were proven year after year. While Filson still makes its classic designs, it also makes some backpacks more suited to everyday use.

The Bandera backpacks are made in the USA from hardwearing twill. The 22L bag has a large U-shaped zipper, an interior laptop pocket and a front zip pocket. Normally priced at $175, this discontinued model is now 43-percent off and costs just $100 — act fast if you want a great everyday pack. — John Zientek

Save up to 85%: Now during Macy’s Suiting Event, you can save up to 85 percent on a huge selection of suits. Choose basic options from Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis and more — the prices are too good to pass up. — John Zientek

Seiko Prospex and Presage
Save 40%: The Prospex and Presage lines are perhaps best-known among Seiko’s wide-ranging watch universe, but other families offer the same signature Japanese value and quality. With a solar-charged, super-accurate quartz movement, the sporty Coutura chronograph watches pack some impressive build quality. At 45.5mm wide with an ergonomic fit and interesting “pixelated” dial pattern, these have a sporty and technical look on the wrist.

Right now, two slick versions are on sale at Macy’s for 20% off: one with a black case finish and soft silicone strap, and the other in steel with a steel bracelet. But for a special “VIP” promotion, you can take a further 25% off the reduced price by using the promo code “VIP” at checkout. That brings both versions down by around $200, to under $300 on the rubber bracelet and just a bit more in steel. — Zen Love

Outdoors and Fitness

Garmin Instinct

Would they recommend it? Yes

“This is an excellent GPS watch. It provides all the relevant data to your activities at a glance, or at the worst, a few button clicks. It was tough enough to survive more than one crash, but is light enough to forget you are wearing such a powerful tool. It is an excellent companion for any adventure.”
— John, North Carolina

Ocoee Seclud GX 27.5+

Would they recommend it? Yes

“I love it! For a full-suspension bike, it has an incredibly light feel and climbs like hard tail.” — Gray, Chattanooga

Hyperice Hypersphere

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“It’s like having your massage therapist on call 24/7. It melts the knots in my calves after a few hours of pickup basketball or a long day on the trail. I love using my PT’s Hypervolt, but the Hypersphere gives you the most bang for your buck. It’s a must-have recovery tool.” — Ari, Los Angeles

RX Nut Butter

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“In only three days of testing, I’m already considering carrying these on me everywhere. Easy to pack, full of protein, healthy fats, and not to mention delicious. A little on the pricey side, but you can tell you are paying for quality.” — Tom, Iowa

Filson Original Leather Conditioner

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“I started conditioning my old duffle and was soon swept away into a forest of huge pine trees and Douglas fir. Before I knew it I was conditioning my leather jacket and old chair and could see why the sales man said we use this for everything, skin included.” — Zeph, New York City

Tech

iPhone XR

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? No

“I upgraded from an iPhone 7 on August 31st to an iPhone XR. I’ve been testing the camera, running several apps at once (including editing short videos with iMovie), and some games. While the phone itself is a significant step up in terms of processing speed and screen quality, I have to give it a one out of 10 for one specific reason: when it slipped off my desk and landed on the carpet, the entire rear glass panel shattered. The screen survived thankfully, but this phone’s durability is a fraction of what older models had. Do not recommend.” — Alex, Ottawa

AirTV

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“This allows you to stream over-the-air (OTA) broadcast channels to all smart devices connected to your Wi-Fi using one antennae. It can also connect a USB hard drive to DVR OTA channels. The best part is it integrates seamlessly with my Sling streaming app (Android/Apple/Amazon). The setup was easy, and I was able to watch 30+ broadcast channels on my smart TVs, phone and tablets.” — Tim, Indianapolis

Sony Apple CarPlay Media Receiver

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“The sound quality is good, battery life is excellent and the noise cancellation is second to none. They instantly connect to my iPhone and being able to cycle through the noise cancellation modes is helpful.” — Joel, Washington D.C.

Urth Face Scrub with Green Tea & Rice

Would they recommend it? Yes

“My search is over for an effective and efficient facial scrub. My acne-prone, oily skin met its match with this particular exfoliator. Moreover, the scent was pleasingly natural and aromatically inviting. Overall, this was an invigorating product that truly prepped my mug for a nice, clean shave.”
— Patrick, Melbourne

Today in Gear: Jeans You Can Move In, Cookware for Amateur Cooks & More

Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and deals. Comments or concerns? We’d love to hear from you at tig@gearpatrol.com.

Finding a pair of jeans that fit just right can be a challenge — especially with a sea of options out there today. Revtown makes some of the most comfortable jeans available on the market thanks to the brand’s Decade Denim fabric. It’s woven with a bit of stretch — so they move with you, not against you. Revtown has taken the leaps and bounds made in sportswear design (like higher comfort, more flexibility and durability) and brought them to denim so you can easily leap and bound in your jeans. The Taper is Revtown’s take on a skinny jean. They combined a slim fit in the waist and hips with a taper through the leg opening for an overall sharp look. But unlike other skinny jeans, the Taper has all the comfort of a pair of Revtown jeans and are made to be moved in. So move on over and try em’ for yourself.

All-Clad Stainless Steel Cookware
Save Up to 70%: All-Clad’s covetable cookware has been the option for high-end stainless steel since the brand literally invented bonded cookware in 1971. The only knock against them? That price tag.

Today, however, is a mammoth exception — the All-Clad factory seconds sale is live. The lot includes pieces from all the brand’s classic lines — D5, C4, non-stick and a few limited edition lines. loBut if you just want classic All-Clad, look under the section labeled “Stainless Cookware.” There you’ll find all the saute pans, fry pans, stock pots and sauciers you could ever want.

At up to 75 percent off, these are the lowest prices you’ll find on unused All-Clad outside of visiting the company’s in-person seconds sale at the factory. — Will Price

Save 60%: Right now, you can grab the Ray II in three dial variants beginning at just $118 on Amazon, down from Orient’s MSRP of $325. The Ray II features a 41.5mm stainless steel case with matching bracelet, a unidirectional dive bezel, an automatic Japanese movement with 40 hours of power reserve and a day-date display. At this price and with this feature set, what’s essentially the perfect summer watch could easily become your favorite everyday watch. — Oren Hartov

Danner Jag Hiking Boot
Save $70: Not unlike vegans and CrossFitters, some technical hiking boots just can’t wait to let you know what they do. And that’s all well and good, but sometimes you want something a bit more… understated. You know, something you can wear around town without looking like you just came down off Pike’s Peak.

Enter Danner’s retro-styled Jag Boot, which almost looks like something you’d be more likely to encounter at the local skate park than the backwoods. And yet it still packs a technical punch, thanks to Danner Dry inserts that stand up to rain, a breathable mesh lining, comfy Ortholite footbed and grippy waffle sole. The combo of appearance and performance makes for a very versatile shoe — and one that’s hard to pass up when it’s up to $70 off at Backcountry. — Steve Mazzucchi

This Simple-Yet-Iconic Motorcycle Jacket Is More Than Half Off Right Now
Save 56%: These days, motorcycle jackets come in all shapes, sizes and materials. But there’s nothing like the classics. Dainese knows all about that; the company has been whipping up bike gear since 1972, a legacy that has helped it become one of the best-known, most-dependable names in motorcycle safety equipment.

And, speaking of legacy — Dainese’s Legacy jacket is currently on sale for an impressive 56% off right now on RevZilla, selling for a mere $200.

The Legacy is simple, by modern motorcycling standards; it’s made of grain cowhide with a cotton liner, and features pretty much extend to a pair of pockets outside and one within, as well as slots to slide armor in at the elbows and shoulders. But considering the proven name of its maker and this low, low price, it’s hard not to see this as a perfect addition to your spring and fall riding gear. — Will Sabel Courtney

11-inch iPad Pro with Wi-Fi (Latest Model)
Save $200: Amazon is selling the latest 11-inch iPad Pro with Wi-Fi and 1TB of storage at its lowest price ever — it costs $1,349 on Apple’s website right now, but Amazon is discounting the same model by $200. Amazon’s deals on iPads of various radio types and storage capacities can fluctuate pretty regularly, so if this is your dream deal, now is the time to act. But you may be able to find deeper deals on different loadouts down the road. — Tucker Bowe

Save $100: When we reviewed iRobot’s i7+ robo-vacuum, we called it the best robo-vacuum you could buy. But we did so with one caveat: price. The full setup — which includes the vacuum and its charging and trash-dumping base — starts at $1,099. Today on Amazon, the cost is slightly more wallet-friendly.

Marked down $100, the i7+ is the first robo-vac to empty its dust contents for you. Once it senses its dustbin is full, it locks itself into its home base and deposits the trash inside (the base can hold around 30 Roombas worth of trash). It also retains “mission” data every time you send it out to clean, and it uses that data to more quickly clean your home on future missions. It’s all controlled through iRobot’s smartphone app. — Will Price

The Tribute ASAT Classic has a G&L humbucker in the neck position and a crisp G&L single-coil in the bridge position. This instrument features a limited-edition Mint Green finish and a 3-ply white pickguard.

Nike Epic React Flyknit 2
Save $50: When Nike announced React foam in 2017, it promised the impossible: foam that’s lightweight, durable, and provides ample cushioning and bouncy energy return. Nike’s materials scientists tested more than 400 chemical combinations until they found the perfect mix, which the first delivered in basketball footwear. But React found its stride after Nike injected it into the Epic React Flyknit, a running shoe that gained a considerable following throughout 2018.

It wasn’t surprising that the Epic React Flyknit 2, released earlier this year, would also be a success. It features the foam that’s embedded in its name as well as Nike’s sock-like knitted upper, Flyknit. But for the follow-up, Nike tweaked that part of the shoe’s construction: the upper is stretchier, more supportive, and comfier with a lower heel cuff. Right now, the shoe is $50 off on Nike’s website. — Tanner Bowden

Apple Watch Series 4
Save up to $100: Apple officially announced the Apple Watch Series 5 last week and, in doing so, also stopped selling the Series 4, presumably because it’s slightly too similar to the new flagship offering, with the exceptions the Series 5 has an always-on display and a new sensor (a magnetometer) that allows it to work as a compass, showing you which way you’re facing while using Apple Maps. The Series 5 also comes in titanium models, although those are significantly more expensive. That said, it’s a great time to shop for the Apple Watch Series 4 because it’s on sal. It also has a bunch of the newer features that the Series 3 lacks, including fall detection, a built-in EKG and a variety of fitness features. If you shop on Amazon right now, you can buy a Series 4 with cellular for as little as $399, which is $100 off. If you don’t need built-in LTE, which I’d argue that most people don’t need (nor do they want to pay the extra $10 each month on their phone bill), you can get a pretty good deal on GPS-only models of the Series 4, too. — Tucker Bowe |

The normally $300 soundbar (which comes with a wireless subwoofer) is $100 off if you shop at either Best Buy or Amazon. Part of its allure, other than improving your TV’s sound, is that Command Bar has built-in Amazon Alexa — similar to the Sonos Beam. This means you can use your voice to do things like raise or lower the TV volume, play music from Spotify or Pandora or control the smart home devices in the rest of your house, should you have any. Additionally, you can integrate the Polk CommandBar into an Alexa Multiroom Group if you own other Amazon Echo devices. Just say “Alexa, play music everywhere,” and all your Echo devices and the Command bar will play in unison.

Thankfully, Geologie is here to help with that. The brand offers personalized skincare regimens, packed with clinically-proven ingredients, in just four great products designed to make skincare simple. Geologie’s take on skincare is a personalized one, but they do all the heavy lifting. It’s aimed directly at your skin type and the benefits that you want to see. Just take a 30-second quiz to find exactly the right regimen for you.

Each subscription comes with one-on-one service to make sure you see the results you want. This Motorcycle Helmet Defines Old School Cool, And It’s $80 Off
Save 20%: It’s not groundbreaking, it’s not made of novel sci-fi materials and it’s not flashy, but it is good —- real good. Even after nearly a century of being in business, Bell isn’t complacent; it still brings its production A-game to one of the simplest and most nostalgic helmet designs ever, the Bell Bullitt. Not that this historic helmet needs any help, but RevZilla is offering this motorcycling icon as a part of their sale going on right now.

It is, simply put, one of the most iconic and widely recognized helmets designs in the industry. The mere shape of the Bullitt could pull someone to snag their motorcycle license and hit the road to fulfill their open-road two-wheeled dreams. Just get one.

Ghost SL AMR X 5.9 AL mountain bike
Save $1,020: As fun as mountain biking is, the barrier to entry is much higher than it is for other backcountry activities like hiking and trail running. Getting that first bike is a huge and intimidating investment. However, if you are willing to look past the big names, there are some amazing deals to be found. That’s how we came upon the Ghost SL AMR X 5.9 AL, which is already quite reasonably priced and currently available at a discount of 30 percent ($1,020) right now at REI.

Though it might not have the highest Q rating, Ghost is legit. Started by buddies Uwe Kalliwoda and Klaus Möhald in the small Bavarian town of Waldsassen, Ghost has been putting out top-notch, German-engineered cycles since 1993. This particular aluminum-frame model boasts full suspension with 150mm of tunable travel, a 1×12 drivetrain for easy shifting, hydraulic disc brakes and beefy 29-inch tires for tackling tough terrain no matter where you choose to ride.

While you are not necessarily getting the highest-end components with this bike, you are getting a high-performance, highly durable build from a brand whose pedigree far exceeds its rep in America. That’s a helluva lot of value for under $2,500. Bonus: just think how cool it will be to start referring to yourself as a Ghost rider.

More than just your average tee, DUER’s T-shirt is crafted like its bottoms with high stretch, low synthetic blend of cotton, Tencel and spandex fibers so the shirt moves with you. It is patterned with an underarm gusset for even more range of movement and a slim fit in the body for a more cleaned up look. But the real knock out of the DUER No Sweat T-Shirts is the natural wicking performance of the brand’s N2X fabric so you stay dry when you get busy. Fluance Turntables
Save Up to 16%: Fluance is a Canadian audio company that makes some of the best entry-level turntables and bookshelf speakers you can buy. And right now through September 16, you can get a great deal on its entry-level turntables if you shop on Amazon. The Fluance RT81 ($250 $210), which is most review publications’ pick for “best entry-level turntable,” and the Fluance RT80 ($200 $170) are both on sale. The main difference between the two is that the RT81 has a solid wood plinth, as opposed to the RT80’s hollow one, so it’s better at preventing vibrations. The two turntables have a built-in preamp that you can turn on or off, enabling you to buy upgraded external pre-amp further down the road if you so decide. ?

Additionally, the Fluance Ai40 ($250 $210) powered bookshelf speakers are also on sale, but only in black. — Tucker Bowe

Viberg Boots
Save 40%: Now at End, you have the rare opportunity to save 40 percent on a few pairs of boots from Viberg. The Canadian brand’s respected craftsmanship is front and center in these iconic styles — they feature either Goodyear welting or stitch-down construction, thick leather midsoles, and top-tier finishing. Normally priced over $800, you can currently pick up a pair of these cult-classic boots for under $500 while supplies last. — John Zientek

Solo Stove Portable Fire Pit
Save 15%: Though there is a degree of satisfaction in a fire you build piece-by-piece, Solo Stove’s portable fire pits make a patio burn a lot simpler.

It’s as tall as your forearm and as wide as your computer monitor and as heavy as a beagle, and it saves you time spent clearing a space for a fire, tending to a fire and cleaning up that space the following morning. It also isn’t gaudy, unlike many home fire pits out there, making it perfectly capable to throw down in your backyard. Holes in the base and top of the pit allow air to reach the fire and feed a hotter, more consistent blaze. The higher heat and superior ventilation also cut down on smoke, so you’re less likely to have your neighbors call the cops on you.

The Solo Stove fire pit is on sale now for $230 — 15 percent off its usual price.

Bulova Chronograph
Save 62%: With an unbeatable style and colorful red-white-and-blue dial, this funky chronograph features Bulova’s High Performance Quartz movement and premium materials like domed sapphire crystal. It also hints at the brand’s roots as an American company that was prolific in the era from which this watch takes its inspiration (’60s-’70s). At 62% off its retail price of $750, it’s also a steal right now on Amazon for just $285. — Zen Love

Breville BDC400 Precision Brewer
Save 43%: Breville’s Precision Brewer coffee maker is the most powerful, advanced coffee maker regular people can buy.

Beyond brewing Gold Cup standard pots of coffee and holding an SCA certification, it lets you customize brewing options like flow rate, bloom time and water temperature. It’s the only coffee maker that can brew with flat bottom filters and cone filters. There’s even an attachment that allows you to insert your favorite pour-over brew device and let the machine do the work. Its heating system warms water as it travels to the shower head, meaning you don’t have to wait minutes for the water to come to temperature and making it literally the fastest coffee maker you can buy.

Its downsides, few that they are, are its size and price. It’s worth comparing its height to the space between your countertop and kitchen cabinets. As for price, the machine is $80 its hefty $300 tag on Ebay right now
— Will Price

The Perfect Waxed Cotton Motorcycle Jacket Is 50% Off
Save 50%: With fall inbound, we’re facing fewer and fewer warm days to ride. The cool weather brings the opportunity to wear most of the coolest motorcycle gear — but before we fully succumb to the leathers and wool, take advantage of the fact that the extremely cool warm-weather-ready Roland Sands Design Ronin perforated textile jacket is currently featured on RevZilla’s weekly sale.

The Ronin, like so much classy café-style gear, is largely composed of waxed cotton to stand up to a number of different weather conditions. It is also lined with a cooling mesh interior. Although it is aimed at the around-town café racer rider, it has some adventure-riding features as well, like stretchy cargo stuff pockets and built-in shoulder and elbow pads. Most notable of all: is the laser cut perforation that keeps things nice and breezy, but still leaves the jacket tough enough to stand up to abrasion.

The Ronin’s cool design (and current sale price of 50% off at RevZilla) will help keep your pits dry during the waning warm months of riding. Or, y’know, you could always buy it now and save it for next spring. — Peter Corn

Kershaw Natrix Pocket Knife
Save 47%: Not all knives initiate with a designer’s sudden burst of inspiration. Some, like Kershaw’s Natrix, are simply the lowest branch on a family tree of blades that came before. Kershaw built the Natrix as a direct descendant of the 0770, which is made by its sister company, Zero Tolerance. And that knife is based on the ZT 0777, which won the award for Overall Knife of the Year at the 2011 Blade Show.

But even without its famous lineage, the Natrix stands on its own as a high-quality pocket knife that strikes a balance between tactical and contemporary aesthetics. It uses Kershaw’s patented Sub-Frame Lock, in which a section of a handle is cut out to allow for a steel insert that bends inward when the blade is deployed to hold it in place, much like a traditional frame lock. It’s a mechanism that allows makers to provide ample security while using different handle materials. For example, this version of the Natrix with copper handles, which is currently 47 percent off at Drop. — Tanner Bowden

These Super-Tough Motorcycle Gloves Are 40% Off Right Now
Save 40%: The apparel company known as Saint has an affinity for working in denim. Their more brand-loyal customers may run the risk of winding up sporting the fabled Canadian tuxedo — head-to-toe blue denim, from jeans to jacket. Luckily for fans of Saint, head-to-toe denim alone is a sexy look — at least, this writer thinks so — but even if it weren’t, the advantages of their gear would still make it worthwhile to go all Jay Leno.

After all, this ain’t no ordinary denim they’re working with.

The Saint Unbreakable gloves you see here, like the brand’s famed riding jeans, are made from tough, rugged, heavy-stitched denim incorporates the strongest fiber in the world: Dyneema. Their Dyneema-infused denim is rated to withstand up to four seconds of sliding before the fabric fails.

Saint calls this a three-season glove; its Merino wool lining making summer riding a bit sweaty. The palm side of the glove is made with tanned and stained deer hide, providing flexibility and grip.

Tough. Stylish. Denim. Now on sale at RevZilla at 40% off, which makes these hard-to-kill gloves a mere $78 — down from the normal $130. –Peter Corn

Nemo Equipment Stargaze Luxury Camp Chair
Save $61: The Stargaze, unlike most other outdoor chairs that keep sitters close to the ground, has its seat suspended between a set of lightweight aluminum poles. The construction creates an experiential cross between a hammock and a rocking chair and maintains essential features including an integrated pocket (for a book, phone or keys) and a cup holder (what’s a camp chair without one?).

The Stargaze Luxury weighs seven pounds, so it’s not the ideal choice for backpacking, but is more than suitable for car camping and boating. Nobody would blame you for giving the chair a semi-permanent spot in your backyard either. You can pick one up right now for 28 percent off at Mountain Steals for a savings of $61.
— Tanner Bowden

Humanscale Freedom Desk Chair
Save $810: Designed by the legendary industrial designer Niels Diffrient, the Freedom chair was the first passively ergonomic task seating ever made. In office chair speak, that makes it the first seat to automatically adjust to the person sitting in it, rather than have the person alter the chair to their liking manually.

While it was released in 1999, it shares more with office chairs of the last two years than of its era (companies like Herman Miller and Knoll have since released their own passive ergonomic task seating). Right now on Ebay, you can grab the mid-back version of the chair in fabric or leather upholstery for nearly 80 percent off. It’s worth noting these models are open-box returns from a third-party seller, meaning you’re not buying direct from the manufacturer in this instance. — Will Price

G-Shock DW5600E-1V Watch
Save 37%: Right now, you can take 37% off the normally-$70 DW5600E-1V, for a sale price of $44. The DW5600E-1V features all the usual G-Shock goods: 200m of water resistance, a backlight with Afterglow, a multi-function alarm, a 1/100th-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, an auto calendar accurate until the year 2039, and much more.— Oren Hartov

Additionally, the Fluance Ai40 ($250 $210) powered bookshelf speakers are also on sale, but only in black. — Tucker Bowe

Global G-2 Chef’s Knife
Save $65: The Global kitchen knives are made of Yoshikin’s (its parent company) proprietary Cromova 18 steel, a semi-mysterious mixture of chromium, molybdenum and vanadium, and is semi-analogous to VG-10 stainless steel, a popular steel for both Japanese and western-style kitchen knives. The key difference being, due to higher (though undefined exact percentage) chromium levels, it’s significantly hardier than VG-10, and most stainless knife steel in general. This means it’s unlikely to chip, is supremely corrosion resistant and doesn’t stain under any circumstances. Naturally, you do lose just slightly in the edge-holding department, and it’s not as easy to sharpen as softer steels (this is the balance of hardness and toughness versus cutting utility).

On all Global knives, as noted above, the handle is an extension of the blade. This is incredibly useful for an everyday kitchen knife, as there are no nooks or crannies for food particles or moisture to hide in and ruin the knife. The lack of bulky handle also allows the knife to be incredibly lightweight, but still well-balanced (to achieve this, the handle is hollow and filled with sand).

Today on Amazon, Global’s G-2 Chef’s Knife is on sale for $95, matching the lowest price on record on the platform. — Will Price

Patagonia Stretch Rainshadow Jacket
Save 25%: Umbrellas are easy to hate. For caving in at the first threatening gust of wind, for holding their spikey arms at eye level, for taking up more than their share of sidewalk space. Rain jackets, on the other hand, do the same job of warding off precipitation without such a fuss. What’s more, their hands-free method of keeping dry makes them better for things like hiking, riding bikes and working outdoors. One of our favorites for all of these things, Patagonia’s Stretch Rainshadow Jacket, is currently 25 percent off at Backcountry.

The two and a half layer rain jacket is more breathable than other similar coats, which helps in these early days of fall when the temperature hasn’t fully dropped. Plus, when it does get hot, there are two underarm vents to help shed heat. The Rainshadow is also great because, as its full name implies, its nylon material is stretchy instead of stiff, which makes it great for activity (we even take it backcountry skiing). And on top of that, it’s exceptionally light, so you can shove it into your bag without a thought, even if the chance of rain is only 10 percent. — Tanner Bowden

This Iconic Motorcycle Jacket Is a Steal Right Now
Save 43%: Belstaff has been producing legendary motorsport apparel for nearly 100 years. Born from motorcyclists’ universal need for sturdy all-weather gear, Belstaff made a name for itself with its waxed-cotton-and-leather equipment. Developed for racers and adventurers, these jackets largely lived on the fringes until they were carried into the mainstream on the back of actor/racer/badass Steve McQueen. And if, like McQueen, you have your eye on a Belstaff, now is the time to pick one up at RevZilla.

The Belstaff Brooklands Jacket is an eight-ounce waxed cotton classic buzzing and ready for two-wheeled adventure. The Brooklands is made with removable armor in the shoulders and elbows, as well as a sleeve in the back to insert further protection. The Brooklands jacket was made with its namesake race track in mind, with an added padded layer for extra safety. The jacket is not only made for a tightly-tucked cafe racer, it’s such a stylish design, it can be worn right off the track and straight to dinner.

Catalinbread Belle Epoch Guitar Echo Pedal
Save $32: Now at Guitar Center, you can save $32 on one of the best echo pedals for guitar. The Catalinbread Belle Epoch Tape Echo was inspired by the iconic Maestro Echoplex EP-3 tape delay and packs all its nuanced features into a small, easy-to-use package.

“The Catalinbread Belle Epoch is the closest thing to a real EP-3 that I’ve ever played,” said legendary guitarist Eric Johnson in a statement. The Belle Epoch features a Mix knob to control volume, a Rec Lev knob to control how hard the delay is hit, a Mod knob to control the amount of random tape flutter, an Echo Sustain knob to control the number of repeats and an Echo Delay knob to control delay time.

Normally $210, the Belle Epoch is now $178 at Guitar Center. If you’ve been searching for a great echo pedal to add to your rig, don’t pass this one up.

Oakley Airbrake XL Prizm Goggles
Save up to $108: If Abraham Maslow worked at a ski shop, he’d tell you that after your skis, snowboard, and boots, goggles are the most important piece of mountain equipment you can own. Goggles are annoying to buy though. A good pair will often cost well over $100, while an affordable $30 lens will fog up before you make it out of the lift line and fall apart before your trip is over. But being able to see the snow beneath your feet is of the utmost importance, so our advice here is straightforward: spend more money on a decent pair of goggles.

The good news is that if you do your shopping ahead of time — as in, now — you might find a great deal on goggles from last season. We dug one up for you: Oakley’s Airbrake XL, which features the company’s contrast-boosting Prizm lens tech. New, they’ll run you $240. But with a discount at Backcountry, you can pick up a pair for more than $100 off that price. The catch? Only a handful of colors are available with the deepest discount, but others are marked down nearly as much. — Tanner Bowden

Outdoors and Fitness

Nike Shield Jacket

Would they recommend it? Yes

“For situations where you need to have an unhindered range of mobility with wind-blocking, look no further. This jacket kept me dry and blocked the wind. There’s just something about the white/gridiron colorway that denotes a classic bit of flash.”
— Nate, Oklahoma City

Aer Fit Pack 2

Would they recommend it? Yes

“I work on the 2020 Presidential Campaign in Iowa. I am always on the road, always in different settings, and I need a bag to keep up. The Aer Fit Pack has flawlessly kept up with my active campaign lifestyle. It’s stylish enough for fancy fundraisers, but rugged enough for the gym.” — Tom, Iowa

Osprey Stratos 24L Day Pack

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“This pack is amazing. It’s big enough for a weekend and comfy enough for a whole day on the trail. This Labor Day Weekend I traipsed all over Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks with it on my back. I’ll never use a different day pack.” — Ari, California

|

Tac 2 Collar 1.75″

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“This company makes dog products like no other company on earth. The craftsmanship and materials are truly that of the equipment used by the United States Special Operations Command. EDC for my EDD (everyday dog).”
— Mike, San Diego

YETI Rambler 12oz Bottle

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“I’ve been really impressed with this Yeti Rambler. I commute to work via bike every day, and I often stop at a coffee shop to grab some cold brew. Rather than chugging it down before hitting the road again, I now keep it cold in this Yeti and sip it throughout the day. It advertises that it retains cold for over 24 hours, but in my experience it’s been more like 6 to 12 hours. That’s totally fine though!” — Colin, Indianapolis

Lezyne Super GPS

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“For the price, it’s tough to find a better cycling computer. It paired seamlessly with all of my sensors, great navigation features and 22 hours of battery. The only downside is the low contrast screen, and it’s not the nicest looking thing on your bars, but it spits out all the stats you need on your ride.” –Arif, Ottawa

Tech

Jabra Speak 510

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“I work from home, so headphones get tiring after meetings all day. I got this to set up at my desk, with the hopes it would be better than the built-in microphone on my laptop. It performs wonderfully!” — Jack, Indianapolis

Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT Wireless Bluetooth Over-Ear Headphones

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“Absolutely outstanding headphones. I primarily use them to watch movies on my Apple TV. They have wonderful balance that makes the sound effects pop while also allowing for clear speech.” — Max, D.C.

|

Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“The sound quality is good, battery life is excellent and the noise cancellation is second to none. They instantly connect to my iPhone and being able to cycle through the noise cancellation modes is helpful.” — Rob, London

|

Samsung Portable SSD T5 1TB

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“The SSD was a great price and value. The 1TB capacity is perfect for my current job as a photographer, but not too big to worry about putting too much work on it. It’s fast and small, which is perfect.” — Jerome, Los Angeles

Sony WF-1000XM3 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? No

“Stellar sound and pretty good noise cancelling in a tiny package. That success is sadly undone by ho-hum call quality. Not ready as a complete AirPod killer … yet.”
— Kyle, Los Angeles

|

Style

Baxter of California Cream Pomade

grey_placeholder

Would they recommend it? Yes

“After applying, there is a little bit of a greasy feel, but when it settles it’s perfect. The only gripe i have is that I have to use a bit more to get my cowlick to do what I want.”
— Brian, New York

|

12.9-Inch iPad Pro (2019)
Save Up to $399: Right now, Amazon is selling the latest 12.9 iPad Pro (Wi-Fi only) with 1TB of storage for $1,350 – that’s almost $400 less than the exact same model on Apple’s website. Of course, the 1TB of storage is probably overkill for most people; but if you’re a photographer or videographer who edits on-the-go (or basically anybody who doesn’t use iCloud for storage), this iPad Pro model makes sense. Meanwhile, every cellular model of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is at least $200 off, with the 64GB model at a $250 discount, if you don’t quite need 1TB of storage.

If interested, act fast — these kinds of Amazon deals don’t typically last long.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers
Save $98: In the world of sunglasses, it doesn’t get much more iconic than a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers. First released in 1956, the design has hardly changed in over half a century. If you’ve been wanting the style, but the list price is more than you want to spend, Nordstrom Rack has you covered; you can get a pair of $178 Wayfarers in either black or Havana for just $80. What’s more, these Italian-made shades also come with polarized lenses to protect your eyes all summer long — hard to beat that. — John Zientek

Hickey Freeman Suits
Save 59%: Founded in 1899 by Jacob Freeman and Jeremiah Hickey, Hickey Freeman specializes in high-quality American-made suiting. With a garment factory in Rochester, New York, the brand produces a range of ready-made suits and also offers a made-to-measure program. Its classic two-button suit features a notch collar, two flap welt pocket, a chest welt pocket and two back vents. The matching trousers feature a flat front, two front slant pocket and back besom pockets. Normally priced up to $1,595, it’s now 59 percent off and costs just $650 — that’s a steal for an American-made suit of this quality. — John Zientek

Fjallraven Vidda Pro Trouser
Save $75: We are big fans of Swedish brand Fjallraven’s quality in general, but we are especially stoked when we can score it at a deep discount. And right now, the brand’s Vidda Pro Trouser is a whopping 50% off at Backcountry, dropping the price from $150 to $75. Thanks to a tough, water-resistant fabric, reinforced knees and several smart pockets, they are perfect for tackling any outdoor work, hiking or camping. The only hangup? The sale only applies to a limited range of colors and styles, so you’ll have to hunt and hope. But hey, if you happen to be, say, a size 29 and are simply mad for “Dark Olive,” head on over to Backcountry right now. — Steve Mazzucchi

Now’s the Best Time to Buy Winter and Snow Tires
Save $80: Do you live in a part of the world that regularly sees snow fly? Then you need winter tires for your car. Winter-specific rubber is the single best feature for any car that finds itself navigating snow and ice — better than four-wheel-drive, better than plentiful ground clearance, even better than seat heaters. (Well, the latter might feel like a bit of a toss-up sometimes.)

With Labor Day fresh in the rearview, odds are good winter driving is the last thing on your mind right now. But this deal is big enough to warrant snapping your thoughts ahead a few months: Right now, Tire Rack is offering $80 in savings when you buy a set of four winter tires. (The money comes in the form of a prepaid Mastercard the company mails to you, but hey, saving are savings.)

The eligible list of tires stretches longer than that skid mark you left when you were 16 and lost control during your first winter behind the wheel; the sale includes 15 types of Michelins, 14 types of Pirellis, nine varieties of Goodyears, 4 types of Continentals, and a whopping 18 types of Bridgestones. Suffice it to say, if you can’t find tires for your car here, you might want to consider trading in for a new model.
— Will Sabel Courtney

Lodge 12-Inch Cast-Iron Skillet
Save $13: Good news: Lodge’s 12-inch skillet is marked down to just $15 at Sierra Trading Post. Its 10 inches of cooking space (the 12-inch designation refers to a wall-to-wall measurement, not cooking space) is the ideal size for most stovetop burners — any bigger and heat distribution issues are exacerbated, any smaller and you sacrifice meaningful cooking space. Plus, unlike Lodge’s behemoth 13- and 15-inch pans, the 12-inch will actually fit in a kitchen cabinet. As with all Lodge pans, the 12-inch comes pre-seasoned and ready to cook out of the box. — Will Price

Adidas Ultraboost Sale
Save $54: The feel-good Adidas Ultraboost is normally $180 but thanks to a summer sale, you can spend just $126 on a brand new pair. These best-selling sneakers are responsive, soft and fast — you can’t go wrong with a Boost purchase. Here at Gear Patrol, we’re big fans of all Boost sneakers – from the Ultraboost to the Solarboost, especially for running and the gym. The Solarboost was one of our best new running shoes of 2019, that’s 50 percent off today, and down to just $80. Head over to Adidas.com to check out all sale items. — Meg Lappe
