‘Black Phantom’ Classic BMW Motorcycle

A display of fine craftsmanship, the ‘Black Phantom’ is a custom Classic BMW Motorcycle with a unique bodywork that’s dressed in black, with gold pinstriping and a slew of stunning brass details.

The bike is the work of art of one man shop Kingston Custom (Dirk Oehlerking). As you can tell from the images, the guy is a master of his craft. Seeking to provide a sibling to his equally-impressive ‘White Phantom,’ the German builder started with a WW2-era R75, which he fitted with leftover BMW parts from his own workshop, dating between 1951 & 1979.

The obvious show stealer here is the hand-made slim bodywork that extends to the back. Formed from 2 mm thick aluminum, the unique shell boasts breathtaking design intricacies that include mesh-covered intakes, a leather seat, leather tool pouches hidden behind the rear number boards, and old-school custom gauges.

Vagabund Custom BMW R80 RT Motorcycle

Austrian duo Vagabund Moto is frequently mentioned around here and with good reason–they produce some outstanding bikes. Super minimalist and clean, their customs are both handsome to look at and utterly functional. Case in point, their latest Custom BMW R80 RT Motorcycle.

The bike, dubbed ‘V09,’ started life as a 1992 R80 RT tourer that had little use, which meant the BMW workhorse of an engine didn’t need too much work. The bodywork has been stripped off, a custom-made subframe has been added, the tank modified, the forks shortened by 60 mm, and a skinny new solo seat with beautiful upholstery has been placed at the rear.

Complete with top-shelf parts (Grimeca master brake cylinder, Motogadget bar-end turn signals, Continental ContiRoadAttack tires, K&N filters, etc.) and a striking paint job, this short, aggressive bike is sure to bring endless grins of the face of its new owner.
