Small but mighty
As a more compact alternative to other Subaru EVs, the Uncharted measures nearly seven inches shorter than the Solterra, and Subaru states that the turning radius is nearly identical to that of the Crosstrek.
However, don’t discount the crossover based on its smaller stature — behind the second row, the Uncharted will provide more than 25 cubic feet of cargo space. Moreover, Subaru will be equipping the model with a 14-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, dual wireless chargers and a suite of driver-assist technologies as standard.
In the case of the higher-spec Sport and GT trims, Subaru will be giving the Uncharted some serious power under the proverbial hood. The addition of a second electric motor at the rear axle will enable up to 338 horsepower through Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. Each spec will also benefit from “specifically tuned suspension components” to provide for more responsive and terrain-optimized driving.
On the road, this means that the quickest Uncharted models will be able to rocket from 0-60 mph in less than five seconds. That’s some blistering acceleration for a Subaru crossover— especially when you consider that 0-60 mph for the Subaru WRX (or even the BR-Z) takes all of 5.4 seconds or more.
