Earlier this year we reviewed over 20 pairs of hiking boots to find out which were the absolute best. We logged plenty of miles on-trail and off, polishing calluses and enduring break-in period blisters along the way. We did not, however, experience any issues with Vasque’s new Saga GTX hiking boots, which were one of the comfiest pairs of hikers of the entire group and easily one of the best new boots of the year.

This fall, Vasque is giving the synthetic Saga a new leather skin. The Saga LTR GTX is everything we love about the original — a grippy sole, a tall and supportive cuff, a lace yoke that keeps the heel firmly in place, unparalleled comfort right out of the box — with the added durability of leather. Vasque promises that the Saga’s lightness is maintained even in a material that typically makes for heavier boots, making for best-of-both-worlds footwear that’ll please the fast and light generation as well as the old school leather-or-nothing crowd.

Vasque’s Saga LTR GTX will be available this fall for $240.
