The 2018 Porsche Cayenne will debut later this year with an evolutionary look and a new platform, CAR magazine reports. Prototypes of the all-new Cayenne, which will enter its third generation, have already been spotted testing with some minimal camouflage, revealing that the new model will not significantly depart from the looks of the outgoing one.

The new Cayenne will share a platform with the Bentley Bentayga, Audi Q7 and the upcoming Lamborgini Urus. In the Cayenne’s case its version of the MLB platform will be the shortest yet, with Porsche keeping its dimensions tighter than the Q7 and Bentayga to preserve agility and keep its curb weight down, which is expected to be lower than that of the outgoing Cayenne.

When it comes to engines, expect the new Cayenne to offer two V6 gasoline engines in the base models: The regular Cayenne will produce 335 hp, while the Cayenne S will churn out 434 hp. The Cayenne Turbo, meanwhile, is expected to use a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 to pump out no less than 540 hp. That’ll be a modest bump up from the 520 hp from the current Cayenne Turbo, which uses a turbocharged 4.8-liter V8 engine. In addition, a couple of diesels will be on the menu but we don’t expect to see them in North America.

The range-topping model is expected to be a hybrid, one of two versions offered, with the beefier unit making use of the Turbo’s 4.0-liter V8 to pump out an eye-watering 670 hp. The milder hybrid version, meanwhile, will use the base model’s 2.9-liter V6.

What new tech will buyers encounter inside? CAR say we’ll see Porsche’s “Advanced Cockpit” with wide screens and digital gauges that recently debuted in the new Panamera, in addition to touch-sensitive surfaces in place of buttons. (Buttons are so 20th century).

The 2018 Porsche Cayenne will make its debut at the end of the year, with U.S. sales expected to start at the very end of 2017 or in early 2018.
