One year ago, Nike released the Epic React and debuted a new midsole foam called React. The new foam promised hyperbole in multiple characteristics — it would be the lightest, the most durable and the most responsive available in a running shoe. Nike tested roughly 400 versions of React over more than 17,000 miles to get it just right and has since integrated it into many of its top-line runners.

The first shoe to use React, the Epic React Flyknit, is about to be released in its second iteration. As predicted, the Epic React Flyknit 2 will debut in new colors, but there are also a few other minor changes to the design including a lower profile cuff for more comfort and a more supportive and flexible knit upper. That foam remains the same though, just as it should.

The Epic React Flyknit 2 doesn’t officially launch until January 31, but Nike is offering NikePlus members early access to purchase the shoe now. The early bird access only seems exclusive — all you need to do to become a NikePlus member is sign up with your email or Facebook account, which you can do here.
