The Google News app that was unveiled at the company’s I/O developer conference last week, can now be downloaded on all iOS devices. The redesigned app, which antiquates Google’s old Newsstand app, aims to take the place of Apple News as your one-stop-shop for news. The main thing with the new Google News app is it’s designed to simplify the way users read the news. It also uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to find stories relevant that are relevant to each user. Once signed-in with your Google account, the app takes what Google knows about you and breaks the news into sections, such as “For You,” “Headlines,” and “Favorites.” It also aggregates relevant social media posts from Twitter and YouTube into these sections, which is new. There’s also a “Newsstand” section that gives readers who subscribe to normally pay-walled news outlets, for free. Sweet.
Even if you’ve been using a news aggregation app or even an RSS feed for a while, the new Google News app is worth trying out. You can download the app for free.
