When I reviewed Dyson’s cordless, lightweight V10 vacuum I did not recommend it. When I rounded up the best value Dyson vacuums I did not recommend it. Today, it might finally be worth a shot.

The reluctance to declare it a worthwhile investment was a cost-based argument — the V10 is the most powerful cordless vacuum you can buy, it has the most and best features and it is, frankly, pretty awesome to use. It’s just not that much better than Dyson’s V8 and V7 models to justify a big price bump.

Today on Amazon, the V10 Motorhead — the base model, which comes with only the essential detachable heads for difference surfaces and areas — is on sale at its lowest price to date. To my mind, this sale puts the V10 in a more fair price point.

On its max setting, the V10 sports 40 percent more suction than its predecessor, the V8, which proves helpful in homes with pets that shed (avoid running it on max for too long, as it kills the battery rather quickly). It’s got a dead simple push open dustbin emptying system that not only holds more than previous generations, but removes the nuisance of dust and dirt flying everywhere when emptying. It’s also lighter weight (which is surprisingly important for vacuuming a whole apartment or house), slightly more energy efficient and significantly quieter when running than previous generations of cordless vacuum.

You can get the Dyson V10 Motorhead — which comes with a standard multi-floor head, a head for cracks and crevasses and a hybrid small-space head — 16 percent off on Amazon today.
