Fifth and Final SSC Ultimate Aero XT Enters Production

Final SSC Ultimate Aero Enters Production | Sx-Z

SSC, the American supercar manufacturer, who built the record-breaking Ultimate Aero has announced the Ultimate Aero XT, it’s fifth and final edition, limited to a run of five cars with technology borrowed from SSC’s Tuatara supercar, will be entering production at its West Richland, Washington facilities.

To commemorate the build, SSC will be posting photos of the process on their website and Facebook page.

The above picture is a rendering of the final car. The unique color combo, requested by a buyer, will never be used again on the Ultimate Aero or Tuatara.

In 2006, the Ultimate Aero first entered production. The supercar gained a rep for “being one of the most extreme cars on the planet,” with speeds over 200 mph.

Yet again, SSC set a record in 2007 when the Ultimate Aero TT broke through the production car land speed record at 255.83 mph. Three years later, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport broke that record with a speed of 268 mph.

SCC’s Ultimate Aero XT is set to rival the previous records. With more power, the XT brings a new twin-turbocharged 7.0-liter V-8 engine originally developed for the Tuatara. SCC claims the XT will deliver over 1,300 horsepower and push a top speed of 273 mph. Nothing has been proven yet.

In the meantime, SCC has been taking orders for its $1.3 million Tuatara supercar, to be delivered in 2013.

The Ultimate Aero, once the fastest production car on the planet, obtaining top speed of 255 mph in the Guinness Book of World Records and then losing the title to the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport clocking in at 268-mph, is finally seeing retirement.

American supercar manufacturer, SSC, is working on a successor to the Ultimate Aero. The latest production car to challenge the Bugatti for the top speed title, dubbed the Tuatara, is expected to enter production later this year.

To commemorate the retirement of the Ultimate Aero, SSC will be launching a special final edition Ultimate Aero XT. There will be a limited run of only five cars featuring some of the key assemblies found in the Tuatara – including its 1,300-horsepower engine.
