Cozzi Museum: The Eternal Love for Alfa Romeo

Not everybody knows that in Legnano (Italy), not far away from to historical Alfa Romeo plant of Arese (Milan) a little but great Alfa museum is open for visits. I’m talking about The Fratelli Cozzi Museum which opened its doors in October 2015 thanks to Pietro Cozzi’s passion for the Alfa Romeo brand.

His passion for Alfas led him to collect, from 1955, the year the homonymous dealership was founded, an example of each model ever produced by “la Casa del Biscione”, wisely selected to represent the best performing or the most interesting piece for collecting purposes (like limited or special production series).

The Museum houses over 60 cars, including unique cars and some very rare models. One example that caught my eye was the Alfa 155 Q4 (the one with the Delta HF integrale engine) that in 1992 set the new record at 297.333 Km/h in the G/PS class on Bonneville salt flats. Bear in mind this car ran stock tires and brakes (with the addition of a little parachute to increase the stopping power), Milan road legal reg plate and Abarth tuned engine.

Among the others, the museum displays some very interesting pieces like the 75 Turbo Evoluzione, the Montreal, the Giulia SS, Giulia 1600 T.I. Super QV, the R.Z and S.Z by Zagato.

In addition to cars, the Cozzi. LAB contains more than 300 original posters, thousands of photographs, brochures, user manuals, car and spare parts catalogs, repair manuals, trophies, art objects along with the major magazines and books in the sector. All the documents that testify the commercial path, the sales and marketing techniques of the dealership that sold them. There are many stories that the Museum tells and, among these, that of Pietro Cozzi: an entrepreneur who has made his passion a profession, which he wanted to share with everyone through the Museum.

BRABUS 92R

If you really want to make a statement, this new, limited edition, BRABUS 92R might just be the right car to add to your collection, they claim it is the new Urban Supercar anyway, also known as The electrically powered “pocket rocket!”.

The BRABUS 92R is an exclusive edition of only 50 units of a convertible city sports car, 92 hp and 180 Nm of torque while being fully electric, with a top speed of 130 km/h and a range of up to 125 kilometers (78 miles), depending on the driving style, while an almost silent acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 10.9 seconds in “Sport +” mode, but I guess that will considerably limit the range you’ll be able to reach on a single charge, but that is not what this Urban Supercar is intended for.

There is a “driving fun switch” for the driver to select one of four modes. The production level from the base vehicle, the Smart EQ ForTwo Cabrio is the Basic level 1, when switching to “Eco’ you get more energy recovery when braking, ‘Sport’ is the third mode, with improved accelerator pedal response, and reduced energy recovery rate to the production level, the fourth mode is ‘Sport+”.

We wouldn’t be talking about a real BRABUS if this little 92R didn’t come with bespoke aero parts, like the new front bumper with large air intakes, a red detail is added to the center front, and to the side sills, while an athletic-looking rear diffuser sets the BRABUS 92R apart from the Smart she’s based on, carbon fiber design door mirror covers add the final touch.

Naturally, this BRABUS 92R comes with bespoke Monoblock wheels, in this case, the IX alloys showing eight double spokes mounted in  6Jx16 at the front with size 185/50 R 16, and 7Jx17 rims at the rear with size 205/40 R Yokohama tires, a one-inch lowering suspension is also fitted.

On the inside, the finest red BRABUS leather is used in a stunning ‘Ultimate Ellipse’ design quilted stitching pattern, black topstitching is used while the BRABUS logos in both backrests are an amazing touch,  to complete the custom look of the BRABUS 92R, the convertible’s electric soft-top comes in a similar bright red.

The BRABUS 92R starts at €46,284, being a fully electric vehicle you might want to check your local subsidy plan, usually, you can get part of your investment back from the government when you register an electric car … in a world full of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bentley, and Rolls Royce, this little ‘pocket rocket’ might draw more attention for being so … different.

200,000 Bentley cars built

It took Bentley just over 101 years to build their 200,000th car, founded in 1919 in Crewe, these hand-built cars have been known for their luxury and performance … the 200,000th car to be completed was a Bentley Bentayga Hybrid.

To celebrate this milestone, Bentley posed the light blue metallic SUV next to its oldest sibling, an EXP 2, it’s also interesting to note that over 150,000 Bentley cars were built during the last 18 years, in fact, today Bentley builds 85 cars each day, back in 2000 they made that same number over an entire month.

To make this figure even more impressive, between 1919 and 2002 they built a mere 44,418 cars, 38,933 in Crewe … these include masterpieces like the Bentley Blower, the R-Type Continental, and as a testament to just how good a Bentley is, 84% of Bentley cars sold in the UK are still driving around today.

In 2003 a major boost in production came around with the introduction of the Bentley Continental GT, back in January of 2021, the 80,000th unit of these amazing Grand Tourer was built.

While the Bentley Bentayga was only introduced in 2015, it has already received its first facelift redesign, and as mentioned is now available as a hybrid model, to date a total of 25,000 units of this luxurious SUV have left the factory doors, while 40,000 units of the Flying Spur luxury sports saloon have been built too.

The next step in their evolution is to move to electric vehicles, they intend to be fully PHEV or BEV only by 2026 and achieve an entire model range of battery-powered cars only by 2030.

Street legal LMH from Glickenhaus?

For the 2021 edition of the 24h of Le Mans, Glickenhaus Racing already has a car on the test track, called the SCG 007 LMH, and they intend to enter two of these next-generation hypercars into the most famous endurance race in Europe … but things got even better, Glickenhaus also has at least one customer put in an order for an SCG 007 LMH too, so we might be seeing three or more of these cars battle it out on the Circuit de la Sarthe in late August this year (the initial date for June has been postponed due to COVID 19).

There is a Prologue for the 2021 FIA WEC championship on the famous Belgian track at Spa Francorchamps in late April (26-27), but at this point, it is uncertain if the SGC 007 LMH will be present at the prologue with all the restrictions and regulations in place worldwide these days, the first actual race in the 2021 World Endurance Championship is the Total 6 Hours of Spa Francorchamps on May 1.

In a recent Instagram post by Glickenhaus we learned something really interesting … aside from the SGC 007 LMH race cars they will be building, the intention is to also offer a limited production run of 24 street-legal versions, called the SGC 007S, it will be closely related to the race car, but come with all the requirements for it to be allowed on the open road, initially for the US market, but Glickenhaus is thinking about making it meet regulations for other markets too.

Glickenhaus calls it a “once in a lifetime chance” to obtain a race car for the road, and he’s thinking about a three-seat configuration for the cockpit, with the driver in the middle … now where did we see that before? But it gets even better, while the race car is powered by a 3.5-Liter, twin-turbo V8 engine that has to be limited to 680 hp to comply with FIA WEC regulations, there is no limit set for a street version … and for the SGC 007 Stradale they list a massive 1,400 hp … in a 2,800 lbs car!

The Glickenhaus SGC 007S will come with aerodynamics almost identical to the LMH race car, the intention is you can just drive your SGC 007S to the track on street tires, pull into a pit box and raise the car on its own, onboard air jacks to fit racing slicks so you can to lots of laps on the track, only to come back into the pits, replace the tires with the threaded once for the street … and drive home, all while enjoying bespoke Traction Control, ABS and even ESC.

But there is one catch … Glickenhaus requires all 24 SGC 007S to be ordered in advance, at US$2,300,000 each, with a deposit, before they even start on the first chassis, with a delivery time of two years, starting when the 24th order is signed and paid for … so taking delivery of your SGC 007S might be a while.

It seems Glickenhaus already has three signed orders for their SGC 007S, only 21 more to go … and in case they don’t reach their 24 car goal, the deposits are refundable … and all this before anyone has even seen a 3D render on how the street-legal SGC 007S will look.

New BMW ALPINA B8

ALPINA has been around for over 50 years now, founded by Burkard Bovensiepen in 1965 in Buchloe, Germany, ALPINA is synonymous with some of the world’s most renowned BMW based automobiles, in 1983 ALPINA became an automobile manufacturer, registered by the German Ministry of Transport, the Kraftfahrtbundesamt, so this new ALPINA B8 isn’t just a tuned BMW, it’s an ALPINA.

Deliveries of the new ALPINA B8 are foreseen to start in July 2021, at a base price of €161,200, which includes the 19% German VAT (this is a little over US$ 190,000 at today’s exchange rates), but this does give you a ticket into a very exclusive club of ALPINA owners, with the new B8’s 4.4-Liter V8 twin-turbo engine delivering 621 bhp (457kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, a top speed of no less than 201 Mph (324 Km/h) is reached, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h only takes 3.4 seconds … that’s supercar territory.

And because we all appreciate a good sounding car, the ALPINA B8 comes with a new sports exhaust system with dual, twin tailpipes in stainless steel, in COMFORT mode the sound is sophisticated and restrained, while in SPORT mode the valves inside the exhaust open up and the V8 soundtrack becomes emotional and sonorous.

The new ALPINA 8-speed Switch-Tronic Sport Automatic Transmission takes the latest 8HP76 from ZF to the next level, with raised shift dynamics to offer a new level of smoothness and comfort ALPINA stands for, settings from COMFORT and SPORT mode influence the driving performance, while in SPORT mode the gear shifts are more dynamic, in MANUAL mode you can shift gear with buttons on the back of the steering wheel, or you can reach for the optional ALPINA shift paddles milled from a single piece of aluminum.

The BMW ALPINA B8 impresses in a myriad of driving situations with its harmonious, balanced chassis and a high sense of safety thanks to Eibach springs, and this car also comes with Integral Active Steering, so the rear wheels also steer to improve overall agility thanks to the ZF Active Kinematics Control System, naturally, the B8 comes with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive, while the rear axle limited-slip differential lets the BMW ALPINA B8 tap into its full dynamic capabilities.

Pirelli developed tires specifically for the new ALPINA B8, 245/35 ZR21 for the front, and even wider 285/30 ZR21 for the rear, and it wouldn’t be an ALPINA without their trademark look, 20 spoke custom wheels that come with a  lockable wheel hub cover with the ALPINA emblem to protect these lightweight forged wheels from being ‘borrowed’.

You know you are looking at a full-blown ALPINA B8 when you see the blue brake calipers with their white script, over massive, drilled Brembo disk brakes, 395mm (15.6 inch) at the front, and 398mm (15.7 inch) at the rear.

ALPINA Blue Metallic and ALPINA Green Metallic are exclusively reserved for BMW ALPINA automobile, but you can also opt for any shade from the BMW or the BMW Individual line to cover your amazing B8, that comes with the typical front addition under the bumper that incorporated a large air intake, but also a new rear diffuser and a very distinct rear wing, all in the well-known, understated ALPINA style.

Naturally, the amazing workmanship from the ALPINA artisans is also visible on the interior, with the standard Walnut Anthracite high-gloss trim, illuminated ALPINA door sills, or that stunning, crystal glass iDrive Controller with a laser-engraved ALPINA logo, while the custom steering wheel is finished in untreated LAVALINA leather for an incomparable tactile experience on every journey.

An ALPINA is a car made specifically to fulfill the customer’s wishes to drive something more special than a full option BMW model it is based upon, exclusivity comes with a price, but seeing this amazing green metallic B8 might just make it worth every cent spent.

What Not To Do If You Get Into An Accident

According to the NHTSA, there were over 33 thousand fatal auto accidents in 2018. But excluding the fatal accidents, there are still a few million accidents that take place in the US each year. If you haven’t been in an accident before, the chances of you knowing someone who was, are very high.

You’ve all heard the saying, “prepare for the worst and hope for the best” – If you’ve never been in an accident, you may not be as prepared as you think. Today we cover what NOT to do and what you should do if you’re involved in an auto accident.

We will cover all of the basics in addition to the things most people don’t know if you happen to land in an auto accident.

Don’t Leave the Scene of the Accident

We asked the David Aylor auto accident law office in Charleston, SC, for their opinion, and no matter who is at fault, it is never okay to leave the scene of an accident. It doesn’t matter how minor the accident is or if you are late for work, leaving the scene of an accident is illegal.

Ensure you and your passengers are safe and engage the hazard lights on your vehicle. If safe to do so, move your vehicle to the side of the road, and away from traffic.

Whatever you do, do NOT be like this guy. The driver of this rare Gemballa Mirage GT is basically the poster boy of what not to do in the case of an accident.

Don’t Accept Money from Anyone Involved in the Accident

It’s common for people to offer you money at an accident scene to try and hush the situation. This may seem like the easiest and quickest way to have the situation handled it but it comes with its downfalls. Repairs to your vehicle should be put through insurance because, in a lot of cases, you can’t always see everything that is damaged on your vehicle at the scene of the accident.

If you’re not at fault, you don’t have to worry about deductibles or a mark on your driving record.

After you’ve made sure everyone is safe and you’ve called 911, take pictures of the accident scene and exchange information with the drivers involved.

Ensure to collect the following information:

  • Names
  • Addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • License information
  • Insurance company name & policy number

It’s also a good idea to canvas the scene for witnesses if the police haven’t done so. This can mean people who were walking by or other motorists with dashcam footage. Luckily, dashcams have become affordable and are used by a ton of car owners.

Don’t Sign Anything!

Do not sign anything other than a police report at the scene of an accident. If you happen to make a side deal with another and sign something, it can come back to haunt you if the incident is taken to court.

After the police have made a report and deemed a driver “at fault”, you can then contact your insurance company right away. The sooner you start the process, the sooner it will be dealt with.

Don’t Have Your Vehicle Repaired Without Getting the ‘OK’

Resist the natural impulse to immediately drive to an auto body repair shop and have your car repaired – It’s understandable that no one wants to drive around in a beat-up-looking supercar. Doing this can risk your insurance company from denying the repair cost as it may not be an approved repair location.

Contact your insurance company for a list of recommended repair locations. If you have a specific repair shop in mind, it’s best to run that by your insurance company before taking your car there. Once your insurance company has authorized a location, the work performed can be guaranteed and paid for.

For supercar owners, it is important to research repair shops for quality of work and reviews of work done. But in addition to customer testimonials, a repair facility that is Manufacturer Certified gives the reassurance the vehicle will be repaired using quality parts or body panels.

Pictured below is a snapshot of Pfaff Autoworks. They happen to be located in Canada and are a perfect example of a repair facility that is Manufacturer Certified.

Do’s and Don’ts

Do:

  • Stay calm, keep yourself and others safe. If you can’t get out of your car, turn on your hazard lights. If anyone is injured, call 911.
  • Look at the accident scene and make sure that you are not in danger of being hit by another vehicle.
  • Exchange information with the other drivers involved. Get their names, addresses, phone numbers, licence information, insurance company name and policy number.
  • Obtain the contact information of any witnesses who are at the scene.
  • Take photographs of the accident, including the damage to the car and road conditions.
  • Call your insurance company right away.

Don’t:

  • Move anyone who is injured – wait for medical help to arrive.
  • Leave the scene of the accident.
  • Accept a direct offer of payment of damage from the other driver. Settling for direct payment may not be as advantageous as it seems. If you’re not at fault, the accident won’t affect your driving record nor will you have to pay a deductible.
  • Sign any documents other than the police report.
  • Get your vehicle repaired without clearing it with your insurance company; they may refer you to a repair facility where the work is guaranteed.

Dashcams Are The Cheapest Form Of Insurance You can Buy: Here’s Why

Insurance is one of those really finicky things about driving. You select your coverage, select your deductible, find the right company that wants to take on your business, and pay monthly to have that insurance coverage. However, should the unfortunate thing happen and a crash occurs, unless there is overwhelming evidence against the other driver, it can be extremely difficult for an adjuster to rule you at no fault if it truly was no fault of your own.

While having witnesses is often the factor that helps determine fault in a crash seen by many people, what protection do you have if it’s a one on one hit in the middle of the night with no one else around? At that point, it’s your word against their word. And unless you are able to sell ice to someone living in the Arctic, you will still most likely cop some of the fault.

What Are Dashcams & How Do They Work?

Due to a surprising and unpleasant rise in insurance fraud, around the turn of the century, many small companies in Taiwan popped up, selling relatively inexpensive, windshield mountable video cameras that would record the past 30 or 60 minutes of powered on time on a continuous loop to a small memory card. The image was fairly poor, the sound abysmal, but what it did provide was an objective record of the moments leading up to a crash.

Today, there are several major players in the Dashcam market, from Garmin to MiVue, from Abee to BlackVue. For motorcycle riders, there are Sena Camera Communication devices and multiple options of using action cameras like GoPro in special helmet mounts.

Yet, the absolute basic workings of the camera are the same. Either battery or 12V adapter powered, the camera records everything in its field of view onto a memory card that is inserted into the camera. The most common size is 64 GB, but many can now take up to 256 GB cards and have 4K recording options.

Many of these dashcams also have other sensors such as GPS, accelerometers, automatic light correction for the recording, and stabilization features, just to name a few. This data can also be captured into the recording, providing GPS accurate speed, location, g-forces endured, and even snapshot a crash into its own specific file that is easy to find.

How Do Dashcams Protect You?

Schultz & Myers, a law firm specializing in accidents, told us that having photographic evidence of a crash is great, while having video evidence is the best possible scenario. Why is that?

A continuous loop video, properly set up and with a good field of view, is, of all things, objective. The most common thing after experiencing an accident is that your adrenaline spikes, the fight-or-flight response kicks in, and you might miss a crucial detail in your written statement to the police or while filing your claim with your insurance.

A dashcam, on the other hand, has no emotions. It has no adrenaline, no fight-or-flight response. It is simply a video camera that is designed specifically to record inside a car or truck. It can’t be taunted, cajoled, paid off, or threatened. It simply provides the truth, in 1080p HD resolution or better.

Another feature of many dashcams in 2021 are that they can be either tied into your car’s electronics, automatically starting to record when you turn on your car, or plugged in manually to a 12V adapter. The ones that are tied into the car’s electronics have a feature that is called either Parking Mode or Sentry Mode. What this means is that the camera will still record, even with the car turned off, on a low power or super-low power mode recording only one frame per second.

If the accelerometers sense the car has moved, or on some of the very high end units if the microphone detects certain sounds, it will automatically capture the preceding 30 seconds and the following 60 seconds, giving you a 90 second window of what happened. This evidence can be extremely useful in vandalism cases such as willful destruction or damage to property, as shown in many successful claims by Tesla owners using the built in sentry cameras showing people keying the car, or ripping the door handle off.

Are Dashcams Legal?

The exact lettering of the law for the United States, all named roadways are, by definition, public property. This allows for video recording to take place under the first amendment of the US constitution, including video recording of law enforcement on said public property. In terms of the audio recording capabilities of dashcams, you are protected in most states by stating before anything is said between parties that you are recording them on both video and audio. This protection is through the one-party-consent rule, as you are consenting to recording yourself.

The trickier legality of dashcams in the US comes down to some states banning windshield mounting, while other states allow it, and quite a few are okay with it if it is within a prescribed area of the windshield and does not obstruct the driver’s view at all. For this reason, it is very common for dashcams to be mounted up behind the rearview mirror.

In states that ban windshield mounts, namely WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, ND, SD, IA, WI, KS, OK, TX, NM, AR, LA, AL, GA, SC, KY, WV, VA, PA, NJ, and CT, a dash camera can still be mounted on the actual dash of the car, as long as it does not obstruct the view of the driver. DC has a specific rule that allows dashcam’s as long as it is defensibly a “hands free device” while the vehicle is in motion.

As such, dashcams are fully legal in all states and in Canada, as long as the mounting location of that camera abides by your state’s or province’s mounting regulations.

The new Continental GT Speed

Bentley just released their most performance-focused luxury Grand Tourer ever in their 101-year history, inspired by the 3-Liter Speed models from the 1920s, the first generation Continental GT Speed from 2007 was already a very impressive interpretation of a two-door, four-seat luxury car, but today’s third-generation continues this bloodline as the most powerful expression of Continental GT values, exciting and dynamic, with unique Speed detailing to enhance the ownership experience and offering customers more control over the character of the car.

“The world’s most luxurious Grand Tourer is now truly more capable than ever before, with a new sportier edge which will appeal to performance-focused drivers. The Speed is the latest chapter in the Continental GT story, helping Bentley customers to create their own extraordinary journeys.” Dr. Matthias Rabe, Member of the Board for Engineering at Bentley Motors

The new Bentley Continental GT Speed comes with Electronic All-Wheel steering, meaning not only the front wheels turn, but also the rear wheels steer in a direction depending on speed, at low speed they turn in the opposite direction for a shorter turn radius, while at higher speeds the rear wheels steer in the same direction as the front wheels for more stability, combined with the Active All-Wheel drive this offers an unparalleled driving character for such a large GT.

The Bentley Continental GT Speed offers different driving modes to be selected by the driver, while for the BENTLEY mode and the COMFORT mode, power is balanced between the front and the rear wheels, for the SPORT mode there is a more rear-biased torque–split offered.

This is also the first Bentley to come with an electronic rear differential (eLSD), which together with the traction control and active chassis offers better lateral capacity, more longitudinal stability, enhanced on-throttle adjustability, and boasts improved traction in less-than-ideal road conditions.

The impressive Bentley three-chamber active air suspension with adaptive damping and Dynamic Ride greatly contributes to the level of precision and confidence behind the steering wheel of this new Speed version, this 48V active anti-roll control system features powerful electric motors within each anti-roll bar to resist body roll. In their firmest setting, the motors can deliver 1300 Nm in 0.3 secs to counteract cornering forces and keep the body level.

Optionally you can have new Carbon Ceramic brakes on the Bentley Continental GT Speed, massive braking power comes from ten-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers, adding this option to your order will cut 33kg of weight, and help you to keep those stunning 22-inch wheels clean.

The new Continental GT Speed comes with the famous W12 TSI engine, 6.0-Liter delivers 650 bhp and an impressive 900 Nm of torque, a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h) is reached almost effortless, while acceleration figures come in at 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds).

Even the 8-speed transmission has been modified for the new Continental GT Speed, which offers twice as fast shifting in SPORT model on the Speed compared to the regular W12 powered Continental GT.

There is no denying a Bentley Continental GT looks decent enough as is, but for the Speed version, things got developed even further, with a darker treatment of both the front grille and the lower intakes. But also the side sills are bespoke to the Speed model, as are those stunning Speed scripts on the side.

Also bespoke for the GT Speed model are stunning 22-inch wheels finished in silver, optionally available in dark tint or glossy black, while the fuel and oil filler caps come in a ‘Jewel’ finish, and the doorsills show an illuminated Bentley script with the Speed addition.

For the interior of this Continental GT Speed, Bentley went with a special, two-tone combination of smooth leather and Alcantara on the seats, the door panels, and even on the steering wheel. Bentley offers you the option of 15 main colors and 11 secondary hides for the interior, not a fan of Alcantara? No problem, you can opt for a full leather-covered interior too, and the renowned Bentley ‘Diamond in Diamond’ quilting just looks amazing inside the GT Speed.

Why not pay your local Bentley dealership a visit to admire this amazing new GT Speed and possibly put in an order for one?

The final McLaren 620R

If you would like to add a brand new McLaren 620R to your garage, you might need to act quickly, McLaren just confirmed the last one for the North American market arrived in the USA, one of only 70 units available for that market (out of 225 units worldwide), the McLaren 620R was a limited edition model in the ‘Sports Series’ from Woking.

McLaren started their Sports Series with the 570S in 2015 as an opportunity for customers to acquire a special edition car with inspiration taken from the race track, over the years a total of 8,500 Sports Series left the factory doors in Woking, the UK, including models like the 540C, the 570S Spider, the 570GT, the 600LT Coupe, the 600LT Spider, and finally the current 620R.

The McLaren620R is a racecar that’s legal to drive on the open road, derived from the McLaren 570S GT4, the 620R takes all the technology from the track onto the public street while not having to adhere to FIA regulations, with 611 bhp, the 620R is also the most powerful model from the entire Sports Series range.

“As the McLaren range has matured, we’ve tailored our North American model line-up to closely match customers’ requirements, with a car suitable for every personality,” explained Tony Joseph, President, McLaren, the Americas. “Limited-numbers models with the highest levels of performance – cars like the 620R, which feels like a race car on the street or at a track day – are in demand not only because of the driving experience they offer but because they have even greater exclusivity. You can see how this has played out with the 765LT as well, with all of the available volume sold.”

The McLaren 620R is a rare car in the world, only 225 units worldwide, a mere 70 cars for the North American market, and they are all but sold out already, just a few units are still available brand new. The 620R for the North American market all come with a bespoke MSO upgrade package featuring a glossy Visual Carbon Fibre roof complete with the roof scoop to maximize engine intake and exhaust sound, MSO Defined gloss-finish carbon fiber roof cantrails, and the McLaren Track Telemetry system with lap time function and three cameras to record those exhilarating track moments as standard fitment.

drift Will Change the Way Your Car Smells for the Better

Modern car air fresheners suck–unless you’re using drift. Made in the USA, drift is a fantastic smelling wood air freshener that magnetically attaches to your car visor. Each freshener is made from sustainably sourced cedarwood…

MSO means bespoke in McLaren language

MSO, short for McLaren Special Operations, takes care of special requests and bespoke options on new McLaren sportscars ordered by customers worldwide, and we find a stunning trio of the now sold-out McLaren 765LT that was just delivered to their owners in Poland that all come with MSO options, considerably raising their base MSRP of €402,500 when these customers placed their order shortly after the global launch last year to make sure they could take delivery ahead of the 2021 summer track day season.

These three McLaren 765LT MSO come in some truly impressive shades, Volcano Yellow, Volcano Orange, and Paris Blue, the blue car adds multiple MSO options, includes the MSO Clubsport Pro Pack (consisting of Super-Lightweight Carbon Fibre Racing Seats, Track Brake Upgrade, and MSO Defined Satin Finish Carbon Fibre Air Vents). The Paris Blue 765LT is also the only one from this trio to come with the MSO Black Pack (front splitter, rear bumper, rear diffuser, air intakes, side skirts, and door mirror casings are all finished in black). Probably the nicest option on the exterior is the clear carbon fiber front hood and rear wing among others.

“Providing the tools to our customers to design, develop and create their own unique interpretation of the McLaren 765LT, MSO is able to make our customers realize their vision of the perfect McLaren.”

Bastian Luehmann, Market Director – Central Europe

The McLaren 765LT is 80kg lighter compared to the already lightweight 720, among others thanks to special carbon fiber aerodynamics that are made by the McLaren Composites Technology Centre in the Sheffield area, a first for McLaren, and let’s not forget where the ‘LT’ stands for: ‘Longtail’, the 765LT comes with an active rear wing that allows this 1,229 kg car to reach 100 km/h in less than three seconds … 200 km/h is reached in 7 seconds, thanks to 765PS and 800 Nm.

The Vantage F1 Edition

Previously we already published the return to Formula One by Aston Martin and the fact they would bring along the official 2021 F1 Safety Cars for the first time in history, because the special Aston Martin Vantage F1 Safety car was a modified version of the ‘normal’ production model, Aston Martin deemed it interesting to offer their wealthy customers the possibility to obtain a similar car to be driven on the road instead of on the track.

In comes the Vantage F1 Edition, a track-focussed road car based on the Vantage as an Official Safety Car of Formula 1 that comes with the uprated engine, modified chassis, and naturally the special aerodynamic upgrades as seen on the Safety car, the first deliveries of the Vantage F1 Edition are foreseen for May 2021 already.

The Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition is a celebration of the return to Formula One racing after six decades, this model is now the top-of-the-line offering in the Vantage line up at Aston Martin, the most sporting Vantage in the product range and in essence, a replica of the Vantage Official Safety Car of Formula 1.

The Vantage F1 Edition comes with a 25PS power increase, to 535PS in total, and while the maximum torque of 685Nm is the same as the base Vantage, on the F1 Edition this number can be maintained for longer in the 8-speed automatic transmission by implementing an optimized torque cut during upshifting.

A modified suspension comes with reworked dampers and more structural stiffness for the front, the result is less vertical body roll, both at speed and over crests while still maintaining a relatively comfortable driving experience at low speeds, while the larger 21-inch wheels for the Vantage F1 Edition come with bespoke Pirelli tires specifically developed for this F1 Edition to ensure progressive on-limit handling to give maximum confidence in even the most extreme track driving scenarios.

While the rear diffuser is taken from the base Vantage, the full-width front splitter, the front dive planes, and the underbody turning vanes are specifically designed for the F1 Edition, as is that impressive rear wing … with these modified aero parts, the Vantage F1 Edition creates 200 kg more downforce at top speed compared to the regular Vantage.

With every special edition model comes a bespoke color palette, and the Vantage F1 Edition is no different, so your first option for the bodywork of this new Aston Martin is naturally the famous Aston Martin Racing Green color scheme, which mimics the Formula One team car and the Safety Car livery … on the Vantage F1 Edition you can opt for either a glossy finish or a satin topcoat.

Other options are either Jet black or Lunar White, while no matter what color you choose, you’ll get Solid Matte Dark Grey racing graphics on your F1 Edition, while for the interior you have the option of Obsidian Black Leather and Phantom Grey Alcantara upholstery and trim, with a choice of Lime Green, Obsidian Black, Wolf Grey or Spicy Red contrast stripe and stitching.

MSRP in the UK is set at £142,000 while for the German market they list at €162,000, a price for the US market hasn’t been listed at this moment … and just in case you prefer top-down driving, fear not, this new Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition is also available as a Roadster next to the Coupe version.

Dähler BMW X5 M50i

The BMW X5 is a large SUV in European standards, it might not be considered large in the United States market, but you have to admit the M50i version that comes with a 4.4-Liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 530hp and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque isn’t underpowered, but there is also an X5 M available with even more power … 600hp and a 0 to 60mph time of only 3.8 seconds, for a large SUV that weighs 5,425 lbs, that’s a train coming down the street at that speed.

But what if you want something a little different than a factory original X5 M, and preferably with more power? In comes Dähler Competition Line AG, located in Switzerland, they offer a ‘Power boost level 1’ option for the cheaper X50i model (MSRP $82,800  against $105,100 for the X5 M) that boosts the power from 530hp to 630hp and adds 90Nm on top too, 840Nm in total now, which betters the X5 M from BMW.

And the best part is that, even with the increased, limited top speed of 270 km/h, the X5 M50i DCL Dähler Competition Line has been WLTP-E6d-temp tested and approved for sale in the EU and Switzerland, with a corresponding supplementary warranty in addition to factory warranty … but wait, there is more … Dähler is already working on a ‘Power boost level 2’ package that promises even more power … 700hp here we come.

The X5 M50i “babbles” and “blubbers” with the unmistakable, unadulterated V8 sound that so many fans love, and Dähler created a 4-pipe stainless steel exhaust system for their car, with four ceramic-coated tailpipes that show some impressive size … 101mm in diameter, not only does it look amazing, it also works in perfect harmony with the factory-installed gasoline particulate filters (GPF).

Unfortunately, the CAN bus-controlled valves in the exhaust, allowing the driver to control the sound level at any rpm or speed, isn’t EU/CH approved, so you can’t use it on the open road … but it will wake up the neighbors if you start your Dähler BMW X50i in the morning with the valves open.

The BMW X5 M50i comes with an EDC electronic damping system, so the lowering springs from Dähler had to be custom made for this car, they not only lower the car to the tarmac, but they also increase driving stability, decrease rolling movements … and they just make the car look better, at the moment Dähler is even working on a complete coilover suspension that will come with adjustable height and hardness.

Standard fitment on the BMW X5 M50i are 20-inch wheels, the X5 M comes with 21-inch from the factory … naturally, Dähler had to top those, so they came up with massive 23-inch forged wheels, called CDC1 FORGED these 11-inch wide wheels receive massive 305/30 R23 tires, and they are still up to 35% lighter than conventional light-alloy wheels.

MANHART MH3 and MH4 600

The new BMW M3 (G80) and M4 (G82) are only now available for customers around the world, but MANHART Performance already presents their vision on how these high-performance M-cars will look in their traditional black and gold finish, and they will also come with more power compared to a factory standard M3 or M4.

If you start with the regular BMW M3/M4 that comes with 480 hp from the factory, MANHART will install their MHTronik Powerbox to raise power output to 590 hp, but MANHART really wants you to bring in your M Competition version of these cars, base power is already a healthy 510 hp (610 Nm), but the Powerbox ups this to an impressive 620 hp and 750 Nm of torque.

The thundering soundtrack comes through custom-made cat-back and OPF-back exhaust systems, with twin carbon tailpipes, as an option you can get middle silencer replacement pipes for your MH3/MH4, while MANHART is working on special aero parts for these new M-cars from BMW, these will include a new engine cover, front splitter, side sills and naturally an aggressive rear diffuser.

MANHART will install H&R springs to lower their MH3/MH4 600 to allow those beautiful Concave One forged wheels to come out even better, 9×21 inch at the front and 10.5×21 inch at the rear, shod with 265/30R21 and 305/25R21 tires respectively, available in several finishes, but gold and black do look really nice on these cars.

Phase 1 of the tuning program already includes a wide variety of parts and options, which will allow clients to upgrade their beloved new car, but MANHART Performance will go a step further with a Phase 2 version, taking both the M3 and M4 to the next level.
