SPOFEC OVERDOSE RR Black Badge Wraith

It takes a wealthy customer to walk into a Rolls Royce dealership and buy the Wraith Black Badge, but it takes an even bigger bank account, and a certain state of mind to take that ultimate coupe and have it cut up and converted into the SPOFEC OVERDOSE, especially if only three of these wide body Wraith conversions will be made for the entire world.

SPOFEC is located in Germany, as part of the famous NOVITEC GROUP, they specialize in Rolls Royce ‘refinement’, I’ve already covered their widebody Rolls-Royce Black Badge Cullinan in the past, but today they introduced their OVERDOSE treatment for the big two-door luxury cruiser, the Wraith, and it is some serious treatment once again.

You cant’ claim the Rolls Royce Black Badge Wraith is a small car, this is a big two-door coupe that seats four people in the utmost comfort and style, but SPOFEC takes it onto a different level by fitting replacement front fenders that widen the massive Rolls by another 7 cm while wider wheel arches are seamlessly fitted to the rear, adding 13 cm … the result is an overall width of no less than 208 cm.

Additional width also requires modified side sills and new front and rear bumpers to match the beefier look of this big 2-seater, the wider fenders are also required to fit gargantuan 10.5 x 22 inch concave forged wheels made in conjunction with Vossen, called SPOFEC SP2, these are fitted with 295/30 ZR 22 high-performance tires, and while these are five-stud wheels, they hide the bolts under a large cover.

The Rolls Royce Wraith comes with an adjustable suspension from the factory in Crewe, but in Germany they fit a custom control unit that allows the car to ride about 40 mm lower to the road, without compromising on function nor comfort, and it just makes this black beauty look even more menacing coming down the road toward you.

And while the customer can request just about anything custom for the interior of the already amazing looking Black Badge Wraith, SPOFEC does install their N-Tronic ECU into the mix for these OVERDOSE models, the 6.6-Liter V12 twin-turbo engine gets a different ignition mapping and increased boost pressure that brings power up to 717 hp (527 kW) at 5,700 rpm with peak torque at 986 Nm, available at 1,800 rpm already, this makes the large Wraith go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, top speed is still limited at 250 km/h.

Video: 2022 Porsche 992 Sport Classic Spied Testing

With the 992 GT3 now out, and the RS version roaming around the corner Porsche is not stopping at that. A new 2022 Porsche 992 Sport Classic has been filmed testing recently at the Nurburgring, the leaked spy shots of this mysterious Porsche 992 revealed several distinct features in the body design compared to the standard 911.

A few Porsche 911s have been filmed testing with a ducktail spoiler and Turbo model rear hunches and rear fenders equipped with air intakes, these new spy shots are slightly different and now feature a smooth rear fender with no gaping air intakes. This leads us to believe this could indeed be a new Porsche 911 Sport Classic.

In addition, the new 992 prototype also features a one of a kind double- bubble roof unlike other models seen in the past It also has a different rear and front bumper, Turbo S front facia and centre lock wheels.

The previous Sport Classic model was powered by a 3.8 litre naturally aspirated engine with an output of 408hp and 420Nm of torque. The powertrain performance of the new 992 Sport classic is still unclear but rumors have it that the vehicle will produce approximately 470hp using the 992 GT3 powertrain. Traditionally this model is also limited and we expect the numbers to be less than 1000 or slightly more.

Porsche is expected to officially reveal the new Sport Classic model either by the end of 2021 or beginning of 2022.

Buying Used Supercars & How To Go About Doing So

Buying a car is always an exciting thing to do. You felt the little pang of pride when you bought your first car, the way that your mind reminds you that this is your baby, your car, your wheels. Of course, almost everyone prefers to buy new, but sometimes either circumstances, limited editions, or even not being invited to buy a car from some manufacturers can lead to you looking into the used market.

This is especially true in the supercar space. A great example of needing to be invited to buy a supercar exists with companies such as McLaren with their MSO series like the Senna, Ferrari with their anniversary cars every 10 years like the F50 and the Enzo, and the like. The only way to realistically purchase one of these cars is via a used sale.

Other times, perhaps the supercar you’ve been saving to buy has been out of production for some years. There are those who still, to this day, yearn to own a Type 993 Porsche 911, due to it being the last of the “true” air-cooled 911’s.

Whatever the reason, there are multiple routes to take to be able to purchase a used supercar. Realistically, these methods can apply to any used vehicle purchase, the only truly limiting factors are supply and competition for the vehicle.

On Your Own

Ferrari F355 GTB

Probably the most labor-intensive method, there are some people that prefer to go about finding their perfect car on their own. They’ll scour forums, check the online listings for their city or state every morning, and will network as much as they can with friends to cast their net far and wide. Often, with the right amount of networking and good communication skills, these are the buyers that can swing great deals, or buy cars from their network before they get listed.

When it comes to supercars, however, this method of going it alone can come around to bite you. The onus is on both the seller and the buyer to find the right price for the vehicle, with the seller trying to maximize their return, and the buyer trying to negotiate the best price they can afford. Where it can bite you is if these negotiations happen without the buyer doing a thorough inspection, getting under the hood, peeking around under the car, looking for the smallest thing.

Some supercars are notoriously fickle, springing an oil leak or bending a suspension arm when someone simply looks at the car. Other supercars are built like tanks, and you really have to run them brutally hard to do any significant damage. Whatever the case, if the seller doesn’t want to let you have the car taken by flatbed to a professional mechanic that specializes in that brand, or tries to explain away a squeak or sound from the car during a test drive that doesn’t sound reasonably possible, it’s best to walk away from the car. It will probably cause more heartbreak than joy if you buy a supercar and then need to immediately fix it.

If it passes inspection, or looks/sounds/smells mechanically sound, this is where the savings of going about it on your own can show up. Fair but hard negotiating can bring the price way down over what a window sticker or sales listing might say. This is because it is common practice to slightly overprice a vehicle in a listing, so that there is built-in negotiating room to make the buyer feel that they got a good deal. The trick here is to know what the actual used value of the car is, no matter the listing price, and negotiate around that price, not the listing price.

In the end, if you put in the due diligence, the hard work, the man-hours, you will often get a very good car out of the deal at a fair price. These might be collector cars, rare cars, limited editions, or even “common” supercars. But you will know you worked for it, and that feeling of satisfaction is definitely a bonus for doing it on your own.

Through Auctions

Lamborghini Miura

The most expensive Lamborghini Miura sold at auction, reaching over $4.16 million.

Buying a supercar through an auction is quickly becoming one of the preferred ways to obtain one. Over the past decade, auction websites of all kinds have cropped up, and instead of having to travel to the big shows like Barrett Jackson in the US, or Silverstone Auctions in the UK, you could (and still can) bid for your preferred supercar from the comfort of your home office.

What makes this method preferred by many is twofold. The first reason is that these auctions, and auction sites, are where you are far more likely to find limited or special edition supercars listed for sale. The second edition is that for many of these supercars to make it onto the site, they have to go through an approval process that verifies the service history, VIN history, mechanical faults (if any), repairs (if any), and special conditions of the vehicle, such as stored in a garage with a trickle charger attached, driven only once or twice a year, et al.

This removes an entire layer of uncertainty away from the “Doing it on your own” method. To be listed on the major auction sites, or to appear at major in-person auctions, the cars must be vetted and approved. Notes of the inspections and approvals often appear in the listing with the vehicle, letting you see everything about it.

The downside to auctions, however, are also twofold. The first downside is that if enough people want that same car, the bidding price can quickly spiral into the stratosphere. A recent example was a 2007 McLaren-Mercedes SLR 722 that sold for $605,000, which retailed at $480,000 when new. Other, much rarer cars, can often reach into the millions, with the rarest reaching into the tens of millions.

The other downside of auctions is that you are severely limited by supply. Maybe you are looking for a Lamborghini Diablo SV in the special racing yellow they had for that car. With the SV itself being a rarer model, finding a yellow one may be even harder. And because of the rarity of the model and the color, the first downside of demand far outweighing supply can mean you may pay a premium price to get that car.

Through A Specialized Used Car Dealership

Supercar Dealership

You may call them used lots, used car dealerships, second-hand lots, and the like, but there are often several dozen of these in your nearest city, and possibly hundreds across your state. It is through these dealerships that sometimes the best chances of getting your dream supercar can be realized.

There is, however, a bit of wariness and even hostility regarding used car dealerships. Through both representations in movies, TV, even news media with investigative reporting, the shadier or less professionally run dealerships cast a negative shadow across the entire industry. However, the truth of the industry is that those “bad” dealers number only in the tens to maybe in the hundreds across all of America, while the “good” dealerships number in the tens of thousands.

Yet the true power, the best reason to visit a specialized dealership, is their networking power. As the saying goes, “it’s often who you know, not what you know.” Often, the owners or senior sales members of these dealerships have a rapport with local supercar owners and sellers, and are in constant contact with each other, even with their competition. Smaller used dealers may be local only, but the truly successful ones are also multi-city, possibly even multi-state, which only expands that network further.

For example, if you were looking for a used Mercedes AMG Black Series supercar in Houston, there may not be one available. However, with large used dealers like Echo Park, they have almost the entire Eastern seaboard and the deep South of the USA to network across to find you that Mercedes AMG you so deeply desire. And when they find it, they will take care of transporting it to their Houston dealership, fully insured and properly handled.

The greatest of the benefits, however, is that these specialized used car dealerships will often only buy used vehicles in excellent condition, or with mild issues that can be repaired by the dealership before the car is listed for sale. This means that when you buy from a reputable used car dealer, you are buying a car that has, at the very least, had a top to bottom, side to side, bumper to bumper check to make sure it is operating in tip-top shape.

Supercar Dealership

This is not to say that there are no downsides, as there are a few. The most prominent one that you will run across with a used car dealership is that you will often be paying a premium price over a private sale. This is because the dealership, as a business, needs to recoup the cost of buying and preparing the car for sale, as well as turn a profit to keep the business in operation.

Another downside is that, much like with doing it on your own or through an auction, sometimes demand outweighs supply. This means that competition may exist for a specific vehicle and it may come down to first-come-first-served, or, for supercars or extremely rare cars, a private auction, with the highest bid wins between the interested parties.

The last downside is that vehicles you buy from specialized used dealers are often outside of factory warranty. This is part of the “hidden costs” of owning a supercar or higher-end luxury or performance car, as if something does break or fail through manufacturing fault, depending on the age and rarity of the vehicle, parts can be shockingly expensive. And that’s before any labor costs of having the part installed.

This is (in)famously demonstrated with the Ferrari F355 with the F1 gearbox option. As one of the first semi-automatic transmissions on the market, many of the modern era’s advancements in DCTs and SCTs didn’t exist back then. This meant that the clutch plate, operated by computer, was sometimes subject to sudden and abrupt force, causing it to slip. This prematurely wore down that clutch plate, and something that should have lasted 50,000 miles only lasted 10,000. And believe us, you really, really don’t want to know what a new clutch plate for an F355 costs these days… but we’ll tell you: it’s $11,000 for an inexpensive third party one at the cheapest we could find!

The BRABUS 800 Black & Gold Edition

There was a time when the Mercedes G-Wagon was built as a spartan utility vehicle, mainly used by fire departments and the military in Europe, it became an off-road vehicle for farmers too when it was built as a two-door model, and a longer, five-door model, but more recently the massive, angular styled Mercedes G-Wagon become somewhat of a status symbol among the rich and famous, and while the current model still boasts amazing off-road capabilities, not too many see muddy fields these days anymore, especially not the top of the line G63 AMG model, which comes with an MSRP of nearly $160,000 before adding options.

And while many would be over the moon being able to own a factory original Mercedes G63 AMG, that just won’t do for some of the wealthy customers that get in touch with German-based BRABUS, to get more power from this massive SUV, and make it look stand out from the factory original model even further … and that is exactly what the customer can expect from this new BRABUS 800 BLACK & GOLD Edition.

As you would expect, this limited edition of the BRABUS 800 will be finished in black paint with several gold-painted details, and from the name, you also should gather we’re talking about 800 hp (588 kW) from the 4.0-Liter supercharged V8 engine, a monumental 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque can propel this off-roader to 100 km/h from standing still in only 4.1 seconds … right up to an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h (150 mph).

The looks of the G63 AMG base are enhanced by the famous BRABUS WIDESTAR body kit, which effectively widens the factory car by a full 10 cm (4 inches) with massive fender flares, but also comes with new front and rear bumpers to further distinguish the BRABUS from the standard Mercedes version, on this BLACK & GOLD edition we even find air vents behind the front wheels, and if you look closely at the front grille, you’ll notice two of the vertical bars get a touch of gold paint. An even more aggressive-looking engine cover completes the looks of this BRABUS 800.

Such an impressive aerodynamic modification also requires a matching set of wheels and these gold-painted 23-inch BRABUS Monoblock Y “Platinum Edition” hi-tech forged wheels with Yokohama tires are just what this car needs to make a statement as if the actively controlled exhaust flaps inside the BRABUS stainless sport exhaust system wouldn’t be enough to draw attention with their two black chromed side pipes on each side, offering a choice between a discreet “Coming Home” mode or a markedly sporty V8 sound.

And the fun continues on the inside, being a BRABUS limited edition model, I don’t think they’ve left anything on the interior of the base Mercedes G63 AMG untouched to create this BLACK & GOLD edition, everywhere you look, you’ll notice the best fine-grain leather available, naturally in black, but with touches of gold paint everywhere on the dashboard, doors, central console, and even the steering wheel.

While we all know stitching patterns and quilted seats, BRABUS goes beyond that with their shell-shaped quilting on the seat surfaces and on parts of the door panels. In addition, all these leather-trimmed areas are perforated with pinpoint precision and additionally fascinate with the golden fabric that shimmers through the perforations and thereby brings the BRABUS 800 BLACK & GOLD EDITION motto to life.

But what really sets the new BRABUS 800 BLACK & GOLD EDITION apart from the more ‘normal’ BRABUS 800 G-models can be found in the rear … no more bench seat like in the base G63 AMG, instead a pair of bucket seats take its place, complete with a central console in between them housing the 4.3-inch BRABUS Touch Control Panel which in ‘standby mode’ shows a clock with BRABUS 800 illustration while ‘in use’ you can control various seat functions in the rear, or move the front passenger seat to get more legroom. This panel also provides access to the standard COMAND system of the G-Class. For example, it allows turning the sound system up or down or even muting it from the rear in addition to controlling the reading lights and the starry sky in the headliner can also be controlled with it.

Just in case you might be wondering, the BRABUS 800 BLACK & GOLD EDITION starts at 380,672 euros MSRP (export price excluding VAT in Germany!).

2017 Dodge Viper GTS-R

I have a special interest in the Dodge Viper, initially created in an era when my all-time favorite car brand, Lamborghini, was owned by General Motors, the V10 engine from the Dodge Viper has been developed with the help from engineers in Sant’Agata, it’s a car intended for a totally different segment in the car market, but I am also a big fan of the classic Cobra … and as the Viper has been seen as a modern-day interpretation of the famous Cobra, and it has ties with Lamborghini … what’s not to love?

Now I know this 2017 Dodge Viper GTS-R is several steps away from the original, bright red topless model from the Nineties, but it’s still related, so when I saw this white one listed for sale, with only 840 miles on the counter, I just had to keep reading about it, more so as this is a special Dodge Viper GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACR.

2017 was the final year of production for the Viper, during which a total of 100 GTS-R Final Edition ACR units were built, this bright white with blue racing stripes unit listed here is number 80, finished a paint scheme to commemorate the 1997 FIA GT2 championship-winning factory Viper race cars.

Chassis 1C3BDEDZ9HV500261 has covered only 840 miles since new and is powered by the famous 8.4-liter V10, coupled to a six-speed manual with a limited-slip differential, among the additional equipment are GTS-R badging, a 10-way manually adjustable suspension, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, a rear wing, dive planes, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and 19″ ACR wheels with ACR-spec Kumho Ecsta V720 tires measuring 295/25 at the front and 355/30 at the rear, just in case, this car comes with a spare front splitter.

As we are talking about a Viper GTS-R edition, the leather and Alcantara seats on the interior are only manually adjustable, seat belts are bright red while Viper door sills are fitted … this being a limited edition version, there is a special plaque on the passenger side of the dashboard showing the #80/100 in the 2017 GTS-R Final Edition.

Still, there are some creature comforts to be found on this track-derived supercar, you get help from a five-mode electronic stability control, you can stay cool with the automatic climate control, a keyless entry is always nice to have, while an 8.4 Uconnect touchscreen display with navigation, a rearview camera, and SRT Performance Pages makes sure you don’t get lost … either on the open road or on the race track.

At the time of writing, the bidding stands at $204,000 with only one day remaining, so if you are interested in adding this rare Dodge Viper with very low miles to your collection, you better act quickly and check out the BringATrailer website to put in your bid.

Tailormade by Hispano Suiza

Hispano Suiza presents Unique Tailormade, a customization program that will convert each Hispano Suiza created into a unique work of art. The brand raises the concept of luxury to its maximum exponent, thus creating the concept of “Hyperlux”, which allows its discerning customers to create a totally custom-made car. In total, there are 1,904 different customization combinations, achieving unmatched differentiation.

Hispano Suiza Carmen is much more than a vehicle. Its performance, materials, and technology make it a dream come true both for the Suqué Mateu family, who brought the legendary Spanish brand back to life and for luxury car lovers. As if it were a work of art, each Carmen produced is unique, since the buyer can make countless customizations inside and outside.

It is here where the concept of “Hyperlux” is raised to its maximum exponent. The Hispano Suiza Carmen is already a highly exclusive piece, due to the fact that its production is limited to 19 units, of which only five will be built in the Boulogne version. Carmen’s design inspiration is based on the Dubonnet Xenia from the 1930s, although the technology has nothing to do with that of the past, nor with that of any other car in the market today. Proof of this is the more than 1,000 CV of power that it achieves thanks to its four permanent magnet synchronous motors housed in the rear axle, its 1,160 Nm of torque, or the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.6 s.

Hispano Suiza also wants its customers to turn the vehicle of their dreams into reality, and for this reason, the Hispano Suiza Design Studio has created the Unique Tailormade Program based on the Color&Trim defined by the brand. Each customer will have at their disposal an internally developed customization program to configure their vehicle. Through this, they will be able to choose between three configuration lines that reflect the main values of the brand’s DNA – Elegance, Heritage and Sport – and, based on these, each client will have the option of choosing different colors or materials for the interior and exterior of the vehicle, which will allow them to add a personal touch to the design and adapt it to their tastes. The colors have been named after the historic landmarks and milestones of the brand, such as Peralada Green, Swiss Red, Xenia Gray, Birkigt White, or Begur Blue, among others.

Customizable exterior parts include the grille, rear-view mirrors, body color, wheels, and air intakes; with regards to the interiors, the customer can choose different options and colors for the steering wheel, dashboard, seat upholstery, or floor mats. In total, there are 1,904 possible combinations, which practically prevents two identical Hispano Suiza Carmen from leaving the Barcelona factory.

“To create the Hispano Suiza Carmen we were inspired by one of the brand’s most iconic vehicles, the Xenia Dubonnet, a vehicle commissioned by André Dubonnet in the late 1930s,” says Francesc Arenas, Design Director of Hispano Suiza. “Its futuristic lines linked the past of the brand with the present and the future that we want for the brand. We were also inspired by the art deco movement and by Mrs. Carmen Mateu, granddaughter of Damián Mateu, founder of Hispano Suiza, and mother of our president, Miguel Suqué Mateu. His premise was very clear, when we were designing the interiors, he told us that the Carmen, in addition to being a Hispano Suiza, should look like one. We were inspired by the tradition of the brand and recovered all those materials that the historical Hispano Suiza carried inside ”, he points out.

With the Unique Tailormade Program, we wanted to capture the most diverse possibilities of creating a unique Hispano Suiza Carmen for each client. We want these 19 units of the Carmen to be a work of art on wheels, collectibles, symbols of excellence, and that each owner can participate in the customization process of their vehicle ”. explains Francesc Arenas, Design Director of Hispano Suiza. “Starting from the original DNA and taking into account the Color & Trim of Hispano Suiza, we have created three lines of configuration – Elegance, Heritage, and Sport – that reflect the main values of our vehicles. We are aware of the needs and desires of our buyers, so we have developed an online tool and a catalog that will allow them to configure the design of the vehicle according to their needs. We want our customers to be able to drive the car of their dreams ”.

Hispano Suiza maintains its original essence of manufacturer of elegant, exclusive, and reliable vehicles, as well as sporty and now sustainable, values that have been present in the company’s models since its founding in 1904.

UK Company Takes on Singer with Bespoke Porsche 911 – From $450k

Theon Design has officially released its latest bespoke commission, the HK002, third exclusive car from the company, the second to be destined for Hong Kong and it combines OEM level design and quality.

The HK002 is based on a fully enhanced and restored Porsche 911 (type 964) which is powerful, lighter and profound to drive. The prototype has received a lot of positive feedback leading Theon Design with a plan to create more bespoke commissions for customers worldwide.

The vehicle has been named after Theo, Hawley’s youngest son who from a young age fell in love with the car built by his father. The HK002 utilizes various designs from past and present Porsche design as well as from concepts.

The body parts of the vehicle have each been built and designed using Digital scanning and in 3D design software to maximize precision and panel fit as well as ensure flexibility. Digital scanning creates moulds and formers for the body including the ‘long hood’ with arches inspired by ST and G series/964 widebody models.

In addition, the body of the HK002 is made of steel amplified by bumpers and a spoiler manufactured by an F1 supplier in carbon fiber. Full body commissions in Carbon fiber are also available on request. Most of the designs on the vehicle are electrically adjustable including the machined billet aluminum mirrors inspired by 2018’s Porsche 991 speedster concept.

The company offers a variety of engines for customers to choose from ranging from 3.6 litres to 4.0 litres, the engines are either naturally aspirated or turbocharged. The HK002 has been fitted with a naturally aspirated 3.8-litre engine with an output of 371bhp and 300lb ft of torque. In addition, the vehicle also features independent throttle bodies, Mahle barrels and pistons, custom profile camshaft, light and balanced bottom end as well as flowed and ported heads and carrillo rods.

The drive is generated to the rear wheels through a fully redesigned six-speed manual G50 gearbox from Porsche 993 model. The vehicle is lower in height compared to 964 RS with KW variant 3 dampers all around but the air-conditioning system and power steering unit is originally from the 964 model. The vehicle weighs 1248kg with a full tank fuel.

The interior design of the HK002 features Recaro front seats finished in Semi-Aniline Green leather with touches of yellow stripe and contrasting carbon compartments including the centre console which consists of carbon panels and is also wrapped in leather. The Nardi steering wheel was specifically stitched to match the interior by Nardi. Theon Design has also wrapped the fitted 964 RS strut-brace in woven leather.

Additional features and functions by Theon design on the HK002 include a reverse camera screen, hidden stereo unit and magnetic wireless charger. A modern cable operated heater is also available with an efficient heating and air conditioning unit as well. The prices for the commissions start at 300,000 pounds and the build takes approximately 18 months to finish.

Audi A6 e-tron concept: Full Electric Audi A6 Previewed in China

Audi unveiled a new full-electric Audi A6 e-tron concept at the Shanghai Auto show 2021. The Premium Platform Electric (PPE) will serve as a technology platform for electric vehicles, and is directly a preview to the upcoming full electric Audi A6 model.

The new Audi A6 e-tron concept fully relies on electric power and represents a completely new design concept. The only similarity the concept car has with the current A6 are the dimensions 4.96 metres long, 1.96 metre wide and 1.44 metres in height designed as a sportback.

The concept vehicle generates an output of 350kW and 800Nm of torque. Entry level models will be capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 7 seconds or less whereas high-performance models will be able to sprint from 0-100km/h in under 4 seconds.

The A6 e-tron consists of an 800 volt charging technology that ensures the battery can be charged up to 270kW at any fast charging station in a very short time. Charging the battery to a level sufficient to power the car for 300km takes only 10 minutes and charging from 5% to 80% takes 25 minutes only.

The A6 e-tron concept features a cW value of 0.22 which is unmatched in the electrified C-segment and therefore means the car exhibits minimal aerodynamic drag that initially changes into lower energy consumption hence extends the range.

The vehicle appears monolithic when viewed from the side as if built from a single mould as a result of the absence of hard edges between convex and concave all around the body whereas the large 22 inches wheels and short overhangs, wide coupe roof arch and the flat cabin implicates the proportions of a sports car.

The exterior of the vehicle features flat headlight and taillights that adapt to weather, traffic, surrounding as well as communicate with other road users. The Digital LED and OLED offer maximum brightness and three high-resolution LED projectors that display warning symbols. The tail lights feature new three-dimensional OLED elements that make it possible to experience dynamic light show in 3D spatial effect.

In addition, the exterior also features quattro wheel arches connected by sculpted battery above the rocker panels, camera based exterior mirrors at the A-pillar base and large enclosed Single Frame grille fitted at the bottom to ensure optimal cooling for the drivetrain, battery and brakes of the vehicle. The car has been painted in ‘Heliosilver’ technoid color that accentuates the shape of the concept car with a three dimensional depth effect.

The Digital Matrix LED headlights achieve cinematic quality in a way that if the concept car is parked in front of a wall for a re-charge, the driver can pass the time by playing a video game projected onto the wall in XXL format instead of the small cockpit display. The players in the game can be positioned several metres next to or directly in front of the vehicle for a good view.

The PPE on the vehicle has been built exclusively for battery-electric drive systems, the future PPE models will include versions with a single electric motor that use electronic coordination to deliver AWD demand and improve the balance between driving dynamics and energy efficiency. The battery size and wheelbase of PPE cars are scalable therefore suitable for different market segments.

Audi A6 e-tron is suitable for use as a primary vehicle capable of everyday needs, short trips and even long trips depending on the drive system selected and the power output. The vehicle also features Audi air suspensions with adaptive dampers.

The GTO Engineering Squalo

GTO Engineering has confirmed that Squalo will be the production name for its new car and has revealed the final exterior design updates and a first production-ready look of the new 4.0-liter quad-cam engine.

Squalo, meaning shark in Italian, has been chosen for GTO Engineering’s all-new car due to its shark-like look, instincts, and speed. The team, who were previously using the codename Moderna for its all-new, sub-1,000kg, V12-powered car, has been working behind the scenes on updated surfaces and production-ready engine alongside a completely bespoke wheel and tire package.

Now gaining momentum and pace as it works towards the production-ready car, GTO Engineering and its design team has signed off on the all-important exterior aesthetics including the door handles, wing mirrors, as well as working on a bespoke alloy wheel, which will be available in 18”. The tires, which will be produced by a leading manufacturer in conjunction with GTO Engineering are also in development.

The GTO Engineering Squalo will stick to the same principles since the car was announced: sub-1,000kg, with a manual gearbox, inspired by the Sixties sports cars of old but with modern engineering principles and materials. The Squalo will be powered by a bespoke V12 engine, in keeping with GTO Engineering’s ethos, and both engine and the complete car will be built completely by the firm from the ground up at its UK HQ.

The engine has been announced as a quad-cam V12, but following the last update in February, it has had significant aesthetics and light-weighting engineering upgrades including the surround of the carbs removed to ensure you can see the open trumpets when the bonnet is opened. More news on the engine’s capacity calculated bhp figures, as well as a target weight for the engine, will be revealed next month.

“There’s been an outpour of admiration for what we’re doing here and we realize a little bit of skepticism whether we’re actually making this: a V12-powered, sub-tonne sports car with a Sixties feel but modern reliability, enjoyment, and manufacturing quality. We’re here to hopefully set the record straight to say yes, it’s happening and we’re sticking to our original ethos for the car as well as timing promises for production. We are also delighted to have early adopters and customer orders received already, and we thank them for the trust in our vision and business,” said GTO Engineering Managing Director and Founder Mark Lyon.

“It’s often the small parts of a car that take the longest time. We’re now at a stage where the design models are being created here in the UK and soon we will announce our technical partners working with us on the exterior manufacturing and interiors, as well as wheels and tires. In all my years working in the automotive]industry, I’ve never been as excited about the creativity of manufacturing and design as I am now.”

This update follows the initial renderings and intentions for the new vehicle, which was initially announced in November 2020. Since then, the team continues to grow with in-house and external consultants collaborating together, all working on the same goal to create one of the most exciting enthusiast cars of the decade, with the first customer deliveries in 2023.
