1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Becomes World’s Most Expensive Car

The world has a newly crowned ‘most expensive car!’

Back in February of 2012, a 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO had the title at $32 million. Fast forward to now and a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO has taken the title.

Mint-condition vintage 250 GTOs almost always command near-record prices, but this also isn’t your average vintage Ferrari. The 1962 250 GTO belonged to the legendary British race driver Sterling Moss! And not only was it his personal car but it was custom-made specifically for him. So given the uniqueness, pedigree and race history of this particular 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, it was able to command 35 million!

Introducing Eric Clapton’s one-off V12 Ferrari 458 – The SP12

Not so long ago, back in 2010, Eric Clapton made his way over to Ferrari and put in a request for a special order car. He asked Ferrari for a 458 Italia, that was designed to look like the 512 Boxer, with a V12.

Two years later and Ferrari is finally unveiling Clapton’s one-off which has been dubbed as the Ferrari SP12.

Extremely expensive, but god damn pretty, the SP12 features a Boxer-like rear deck, refreshed style of the Boxer hood, lower trim and possible Enzo headlights.

Ferrari really brought to life Eric Clapton’s idea. Touche’ Mr. Clapton, touche’!
