Focus on The Race With The Finn Eyewear Hightail Sunglasses

Former Olivers brand director Dylan Nord is helping athletes and sports enthusiasts keep their mind and vision on the game, literally. Introducing his own eyewear brand Finn Optics and his new creation, the Finn Eyewear Hightail, which promises nothing but the best in comfort and in style.

With a goal to provide full-on “performance without pretension,” these performance sunglasses keep it simple yet functional. It aims to bring athlete-focused design back to the running, cycling, and even racetrack driving communities.  Designed for those who love a good thrill no matter day or night.

The Finn Eyewear Hightail is massively lightweight so it doesn’t weigh your eyes and nose down. It is only 32 grams so you’ll soon forget you even have it on. That’s because it uses lightweight, durable composite for its frame to make it feather-light. Plus, you can adjust the temples for the perfect fit using its unique live wire design.

Design-wise, this sports eyewear comes in a streamlined, classic performance shield look with a minimalist frame.  As it is performance-geared, it went under several tests to ensure good form and function. Every curve, material, and mark underwent careful scrutiny starting from the temple guards with their taped handlebar, to the subtle branding touches on the nose pad and top bar.

The Finn Eyewear Hightail even comes with two lens options (mirrored sun lens and a clear lens) so you can switch them out whenever needed. This way you still get to ride in comfort, style, and good performance sundown and sun up.

Motorcars Studio Is Offering This Beautiful 1978 International Scout II Traveler

Automotive enthusiasts share a common love for almost any type of vehicle. However, everyone has their personal tastes as to what type of ride they want to own. While most of us prefer the latest models, others go for something old-school. Motorcar Studio has a cool classic for nostalgic buyers — a 1978 International Scout II Traveler.

There’s no denying that there’s just something about older machines that remain timeless even today. We know some people like to purchase barn finds or even those in scrap condition and turn them into weekend projects. Collectors, on the other hand, would rather jump on professional restorations like this 1978 International Scout II Traveler.

At the heart of this restoration is a rebuilt 345-cubic inch V8 with a FiTech electronic fuel injection system. Feel it rumble and growl through the Flowmaster dual exhausts. The 1978 International Scout II Traveler is a set of 17-inch alloy wheels in matte gold with beefy all-terrain tires.

You can tell that those who worked on this project have taken great care to keep the original aspects intact. Hence, it’s as close as you can get to brand new. Starting with the paint job, it boasts period-accurate details with a coat of Lunar Rock Gray. For protection against elements, the 2-door pickup features a black soft-top to cover the bed.

Then there’s the GRC custom bumpers and SSII grille in matte black. Moving on to the interior, this 1978 International Scout II Traveler is sporting GTI plaid upholstery with matching door panels. Additionally, it now comes with a new AM/FM stereo with modern functionalities such as Bluetooth, aux input, and USB ports. If you want to add more accessories, check out our dash cam buyer guide.

The James Brand The Carter XL Offers More Room To Hold and Slice

Who doesn’t love a good, sturdy pocketknife as an EDC? After all, you never know when you might need to bring one out whether in danger or during small fixes. Now The James Brand, which has long been in the market supplying knife enthusiasts with sharp blades, has just upgraded a fan-favorite in a larger size — meet The Carter XL.

The James Brand dropped this folder this week after much clamor from fans to release a bigger version of the original that debuted in 2019. But in the grander scheme of the knife world, it is not really large at all. Its blade only measures 3.3 inches but is comparably better than the predecessor’s 2.8-inch blade. This means it can take on far bigger tasks as well.

Much like the original, The James Brand The Carter XL boasts clean and minimalist aesthetics. It features an ambidextrous slide lock mechanism and an anodized ambidextrous thumb disc, both of which allow for one-handed operation. The straight-edged drop point blade comes in corrosion-resistant VG10 stainless steel that maintains good edge retention.

Meanwhile, the handle comes in fully-profiled Micarta or G10 scales. The larger version also retained much of the original’s hardware including the phosphor bronze washers, the Torx T6 clip, and the Torx T8 main pivot. The upgrade really comes in the size of the blade and the handle, which gives more room for those with larger hands to cut or slice and more.

The James Brand The Carter XL is portable not just for its size and weight. It also offers a removable pocket clip which you can swap with the included lanyard insert.

10 Great Wool Blankets to Keep You Warm This Fall

Let’s not mince words — wool is the king of cold-weather textiles. The product of shearing an animal, cleaning the coat, carding it into slivers and spinning it into yarn, wool is simple enough. But wool is high-tech, too: the cuticle of wool fiber is hydrophobic, meaning it dispels water quickly, and because those same fibers aren’t straight, you end up with air pockets that trap heat. Wool even wicks moisture and prevents the kind of bacteria build-up that usually leads to odors.

These attributes make wool the perfect material for blankets and throws. Get one to drape over the arm of your favorite chair, or simply keep it in the trunk of your car to safeguard against emergencies. Here are 10 fall-ready options below.

Avoca Donegal Wool Cobble Throw

Rejuvenation

Donegal Wool Throw

Avoca rejuvenation.com

$299.00

These days, Avoca sells ceramics, cookbooks and clothes but its bread and butter will always be blankets, which it’s sold since the 1700s. This Donegal new wool throw is woven with three different colors of yarn and comes in two sizes. It’s also affordable, as far as 100-percent wool blankets go.

L.L. Bean Washable Wool Blanket

L.L.Bean

Herringbone Washable Wool Blanket

L.L.Bean llbean.com

$279.00

Washing a wool blanket in a washing machine (and drying it in a dryer) sounds like sacrilege. Yet somehow L.L.Bean made it possible with its machine-washable 100-percent cool blanket. The retailer tapped the legendary Pendleton Woolen Mills for this wool blanket, and it shows. It’s supremely soft, available in a universally loved herringbone design.

Woolrich Rough Rider Iconic Buffalo Check Blanket

Woolrich

Rough Rider Iconic Buffalo Check Blanket

Woolrich woolrich.com

$155.00

Woolrich may have closed its last US plant in 2018, but it remains one of America’s most storied makers. The Rough Rider blanket is decked out in the brand’s iconic buffalo check, a staple print you’ll find in log cabins and camping sites across the world. Toss it over your shoulders around a campfire.

Pendleton Harding Jacquard Blanket

Pendleton

Harding Jacquard Wool Blanket

Pendleton amazon.com

$429.00

Thomas Kay founded Pendleton, but it was his grandsons who infused the legendary company with Native American influence. Its Jacquard loomed new wool blankets are among its most popular designs ever, and it’s pretty easy to see why: They’re gorgeous.

Best Made Axe Stripe Blanket

Duluth Trading

Axe Stripe Blanket

Best Made duluthtrading.com

$289.95

Best Made’s Axe Stripe blanket is made at the legendary Pendleton Woolen Mills. Instead of riffing on Pendleton’s iconic Native American-inspired prints, however, Best Made took a more whimsical approach. The wool-cotton blend blanket comes in a multi-striped colorway, making for a nice statement piece to a sofa or bed.

Brooklinen Color Field Wool Throw Blanket

Brooklinen

Color Field Wool Throw Blanket

Brooklinen brooklinen.com

$199.00

Brooklinen is known for its bed sheets, but don’t knock down its other linens and textiles. Its Color Field Wool Throw is made in Germany at a family mill that’s been around for a century. The throw’s muted colors still add a pop of flair to wherever you throw it.

Faribault Woolen Mill Co. Cabin Wool Throw

Faribault Woolen Mill Co.

Cabin Wool Throw

Faribault Woolen Mill Co. faribaultmill.com

$150.00

In operation since 1865, Faribault is one of the biggest names in American wool. The Cabin Wool throw is a 100-percent merino wool masterclass in how to make a soft and warm blanket. Dry clean only, please.

The Citizenry Cascada Alpaca Throw

The Citizenry

Cascada Alpaca Throw

The Citizenry the-citizenry.com

$175.00

The Citizenry is a home goods store that partners with local artisans across the globe to bring a worldly selection to its inventory. Its Cascada Alpaca Throw is made in partnership with Weavers Of Huancavelica, a Peru-based workshop that’s a family ordeal. Because alpaca wool is hypoallergenic, this material is good for those who have allergies or sensitive skin.

Avocado Alpaca Wool Blanket

Avocado

Alpaca Wool Throw

Avocado avocadogreenmattress.com

$149.00

Avocado is more known for its organic mattresses than anything else, but it brings its environmentally friendly outlook to its wool blanket, too. The brand, which is actually carbon negative in that it offsets more carbon emissions than it emits, ethically sources its alpaca wool for a blanket that does good as much as it feels good.

Tekla Pure New Wool Blanket

Ssense

Green Pure New Wool Blanket

Tekla ssense.com

$205.00

Copenhagen-based Tekla was founded in 2017 by Charlie Hedin, who also co-founded the fashion brand Eytys – which can probably explain why there’s so much cool-kid cred behind the textiles brand. Its wool blanket is made of 100-percent virgin wool, and it’s the perfect complement for your already-cozy lifestyle.

Wool Sweaters You’ll Wish You Could Wear Year-Round

When winter rears its frozen head, you’d better be well-prepped with some warm layers. For that, a good wool sweater needs to be a part of your defense. There’s a handful of different types of wools on the market, each one with its own characteristics. Some are itchy. Others are hypoallergenic. Most wools come from sheep, but others come from goats or even muskoxen. Cashmere is, or was, the king of wool for its incredulous softness and warmth, once requiring a weighty credit card if you wanted a cashmere jumper of your very own. Today you can find cashmere sweaters well-under $100 easily. What you’ll likely find most often is a sweater made of merino wool.

Whether it’s a wintry gift for a loved one or yourself (hopefully you count yourself as a loved one, too), the bales of wool to comb through is, as far as we can tell, endless. But along the woolen way, our search has led us to some fine and superfine wool options you can and should consider.

The Grade-A Cashmere Crew

Everlane’s offering of cashmere sweaters may be the best thing they make. Each one is made using 100 percent Mongolian cashmere which sits at the upper echelons of both fineness and length. I.e., they’re really soft and really durable.

Shaggy Dog Sweater

J. Press’ has become synonymous with its shaggy wool sweaters, aka Shaggy Dogs, and for good reason. They’re made in Scotland from 100-percent hand-brushed shetland wool in a handful of gnarled color ways.

Extra Fine Merino Wool Sweater

You can always rely on the ‘Qlo to deliver the goods at a suspiciously low price. Its range of merino wool sweaters is endearingly soft, comes in plenty of colors beyond the usual navy and grey (although good still), and cost just a pittance, which is about $40.

10 (Yes, 10) Types of Wool You Need to Know

With colder weather at the front door, you might be thinking about wool garments. But not all wool is the same.

LEARN MORE

Edward Wool Sweater

NN07 makes simple essentials with an emphasis on the fabrics they’re cut from. Hence this Edward Sweater. It’s made from ultra-soft Italian wool and likens itself to something James Bond would wear…get it? NN07…007?

Reverse Seam Sweater

Alex Mill’s Reverse Seam Sweater uses superfine merino wool in a 9-gauge knit. What that means is that it’s softer than Uniqlo’s lambswool sweaters and while some sweaters are borderline T-shirt thin and others have got the chonk, Alex Mill’s sits nicely in the middle.

Shaggy Crew Knit

Shetland Woollen Co.

It wouldn’t be a proper roundup of wool sweaters without a Scottish brand in the mix. This one, from Shetland Woolen Co., uses 100-percent Shetland wool fibers which are lightweight, but toasty. It’s given a good brushing to up the insulation while also softening the hand. One of the best buys for the price.

Cashmere Cable-Knit Sweater

You shouldn’t expect the upmost quality — at least when compared alongside others on this list — from J. Crew, but I can guarantee you won’t be let down by this sweater. Especially since it’s made from the brand’s newly upgraded imported cashmere.

Cashmere Crewneck

Todd Snyder

Fresh off its 10th anniversary, Todd Snyder’s eponymous brand continues it streak of sartorial successes with this all-new, olive-colored Cashmere Crewneck. It’s mid-weight so you won’t melt in it, but it’s heavy enough to trap plenty of heat.

The Ventana Sweater

Taylor Stitch

This medium-weight, seven gauge Ventana Sweater from Taylor Stitch is knit from moisture-wicking, odor-resistant merino wool. There’s a slight mock neck for classic flair, too.

Algana Tie-Dyed Cashmere Sweater

Massimo Alba

Ooooh! Tie dye on a traditional cashmere sweater? Massimo Alba certainly isn’t the first to do it, but this iteration is quite nice. Think: a combination of the softest sweater you’ve ever felt and that tie dye T-shirt you can’t part ways with.

Eastbank Crew

Outerknown

Outerknown makes this Eastbank Crew from a blend of fine merino wool and organic cotton, meaning the sweater’s not only ultra durable but kinder to the environment.

Norwegian Crewneck Sweater

The Norwegian descriptor isn’t just marketing. L.L. Bean’s classic sweater has been in the catalogue for decades and its still being made in Norway in small villages by family-run businesses. Using 100 percent wool, the iconic sweater is substantial and will serve you well once temps dip real low.

Lightweight Cable Knit Skull Sweater

Rowing Blazers

Trust new prep brand Rowing Blazers to perfect the pink sweater. This one’s lightweight, cable-knit and finished with a tiny skull emblem. Scary!

Felted Fine Gauge Classic Crew Sweater

Buck Mason

Refined basics brand Buck Mason sells a felted wool sweater that’s the epitome of no fuss, no frills knitwear. Plus, since it’s been felted (aka dipped in boiling water after being knit) the sweater boasts the softness of something super thin and the durability of something far heftier.

Wool Bouclé Sweater

De Bonne Facture

Now we’re getting serious. This sweater gets its deep and varied brown tones from Loro Piana’s Pecora Nera wool. This super rare wool comes from black merino sheep raised in New Zealand which produce rich dark shearling. The wool is left undyed, underscoring its natural colors before being knit into a bouclé fabric.

Floral Alpaca Crewneck

Florals? In winter? Well, not groundbreaking, but it’s certainly refreshing. This cheery number from NYC-based brand Corridor sprouts its flowers using 89 percent boucle alpaca and 11 percent recycled poly for a teddy-soft and responsible crew.

Cashmere Sweater

The Elder Statesman

It would’ve been easy to pick one of The Elder Statesman’s insane designs: sweaters with trippy tie dye patterns, knit mushrooms or puzzle pieces. However, here’s the brand’s take on the classic Cashmere Sweater. It’s simple yet so, so good. After all, you get what you pay for. And with this one you get plenty.

One of Seiko’s Best Dials Yet Is More Affordable Than You Might Think

Seiko’s got some of the strongest dial game in all the watch industry: You might find captivatingly textured Grand Seiko dials based on snow, bamboo, cherry blossoms or other natural themes, but the brand also looks to traditional culture as well as modern, urban sources of inspiration. Unexpected but compelling is the new limited-edition SPB259 watch with a dial mimicking the pattern of cobblestone streets, but done up in a contemporary-feeling blue tint. It’s creative and eye-catching, to say the least.

The underlying watch is the brand’s Modern Re-interpretation (part of the name) of its 1959 Alpinist field watch just released this year — a 38mm tool watch with an otherwise down-to-earth feel and a rugged 200m of water resistance, just like most watches in the Prospex line. The new limited edition with its special dial, on the other hand, seems to inject some of the elegance that’s usually reserved for the brand’s dressier Presage family.

Seiko explains that the cobblestone pattern is based on the streets of Ginza, Tokyo, where the company was founded 140 years ago and maintains a strong presence today. The bluish tint is meant to simultaneously reference the modern glass architecture of the district — perhaps like you’re viewing the cobblestones through a tinted window. It’s a lot going on conceptually, but the result is unlike just about anything else in watches that readily comes to mind.

“Inspired by this, inspired by that…”This can get a bit old, especially when watches always seems be inspired by the same sources, like vintage watches, race cars, airplanes and ocean themes. Seiko’s dials in particular, however, feel genuinely like the work of an artist who saw something around him or herself that sparked their creativity. Just as is the case with this particular model, Seiko mostly sticks to textures and patterns that provide contrasting backdrops and don’t distract from the ability to read the time. Other watchmakers could learn a lot from them.

The 1959 Alpinist Modern Re-interpretation lives in a tier above the brand’s most entry-level-priced automatic watches, but still comes in well under $1,000. It features a modern, 70-hour-power-reserve automatic movement operating at 3Hz (rather than the more common 4Hz) and all the features you expect at its price point, such as sapphire crystal. (It debuts alongside another watch featuring the same dial style but based on sporty presage models, and which unfortunately features dial cutouts and a quirky off-center seconds subdial.)

The Seiko Prospex 1959 Alpinist Modern Re-interpretation 140th Anniversary Limited Edition SPB259 will be available from Seiko’s USA website in November 2021 for a price of $750 — the same as that of non-limited versions.

How to Jump Off a Roof (Safely)

You could be looking to get into freerunning or parkour, but more than likely, this skill applies to you in the way that it applies to most people: In an emergency situation, how do I jump off a roof and survive to talk about it? It’s a skill that takes knowledge and practice, far beyond just sending it and hoping for the best. To find out what skills are necessary and what the best practice is for surviving the jump, we spoke with Red Bull freerunner Jason Paul.

Paul was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and is a regular champion at Red Bull’s Art of Motion freerunning competition. He’s a huge name in the world of freerunning, and on Instagram, where he has amassed over 178,000 followers. He’s run everywhere from Tokyo to Moscow to Sarajevo. While Paul’s tips will make you better prepared to survive jumping off a roof, we don’t suggest that you try it, except in an emergency situation.

Check the height. If possible, take a good look at the height of what you’re going to be jumping off, whether that’s a roof or a cliff. In an emergency situation, this isn’t always possible, but it definitely helps you to gauge your landing.

Check the landing. The material that you’re going to be landing on is crucial. A bit of this is common sense, but if you have the choice between landing on grass or wood chips, aim for the wood chips. According to Paul: “Sand is the nicest to land on. Then wood chips, grass and concrete.” Make sure that your landing is clear and that there is plenty of space between where you’re aiming to land and any obstacles.

Get as much forward momentum as possible. “Go for distance,” said Paul. Don’t try to jump up and out. Focus on jumping far away from the structure that you’re jumping off of. The forward momentum will help you to minimize risk of injury in your legs due to impact.

Tuck your legs in at first, then straighten as you spot your landing. When you jump, pull your legs in towards your chest to get your speed and momentum up. Make sure that you’re leaning slightly forward and spot your landing. When you see your landing, slow yourself down by extending your legs. This should happen around mid-jump. This will also put you in a position to absorb the landing.

Land on your forefeet with your knees slightly bent. When you first hit the ground, don’t land on your heels. Make sure you land on the balls of your feet with your knees slightly bent. Don’t be too tense, but make sure not to be too relaxed either — aim for a middle ground between the two.

Absorb the impact and tuck into a roll. Collapse your legs and transition into a roll. Aim to roll somewhat to the side, tucking either your right or left shoulder. Roll over your shoulder, tuck your head, and continue to roll along your back and onto your buttcheek. Pop up and continue running.

Start small. Paul stressed that it’s best to have practice before trying to jump off of something around one story. “If you want to jump off of something high, jump off of something small first,” he said. Practice makes perfect. In an emergency situation, it’s key to try to minimize the height of what you’re jumping off of as much as possible. This can mean climbing down onto a ledge, or making sure not to jump for height, but jumping for distance.

7 Great App Ideas that Haven’t Been Made and Yet in Demand

Many entrepreneurs and creators have come up with an idea – should I create an app for my smartphone? Today, when there are so many means and opportunities for this, this idea does not come as a surprise.

According to forecasts by the website Statista, in 2022, consumers in the Americas will spend more than $ 34 billion on mobile apps via app stores.

This article will describe seven ideas for applications that have not yet been implemented but are still relevant!

How does it all start?

To create a mobile app for your business or start a career in mobile app development, you need to have the appropriate knowledge or hire a custom software development team. Then it is worth choosing the leading development platform. These can be Android, iOS, Windows, Symbian, and Blackberry RIM. But keep in mind that Android and iOS dominate the mobile industry.

7 Hot-in-Demand App ideas
1. Battery life distribution

Situations wherein you need your smartphone for work but the battery is almost empty happens quite often. It would be great if there was an application that can use the capabilities of another phone to do this task.

2. Deleting a phone number

What if you have the right and ability to remove your phone number from contacts on another phone? It would be really useful and a popular tool in the mobile application market.

3. Progress recorder

People love apps that collect statistics and performance for the day/month/year. To grow and succeed, we need to analyze ourselves well and engage in introspection. What if there was an application that records the details of what we have learned and achieved daily. This application can be beneficial to ambitious professionals who want to take control of their daily activities.

4. Book Reviews and Recommendations

Such an application would be invaluable for those who like to read books. Let’s say you take a snapshot of a book in a store, and the app instantly provides feedback about it or recommendations for similar books. Data can be obtained from Goodreads, Amazon, and other similar platforms. Forbes writes that the creators of the Bookclubz app wanted to connect thousands of book clubs around the world and create their app.

5. Movie reviews

Another application idea that could save you the pain and frustration of going to cinemas. With one touch in this application, people who are already in the cinema can indicate if there are no seats at a particular time, tickets are sold out, or long queues. The same app should be able to report projection issues, sticky floors, or incredible air conditioning.

6. Accounting for food calories and ingredients

These days, people want to know everything about the food they are eating. It’s good if there is an application that counts calories and considers allergens and the composition of the product you’re about to consume.

7. Time Cost

The well-known truth about time is that it equals money. You can turn this concept into an application that allows users to manage time and set working hours for a fixed income. The idea is a time management calculator that will help a generation schedule work and earn the necessary money to set future goals.

What should you choose?

In the world of a vast number of possibilities and ideas, you are limited only by your imagination and resources. Choose the concept that is closest to you and hire a reliable development team. UNDONE Draws Inspiration From Vintage Japanese Artwork For Its Nippon Erotica: Shunga Collection

image

You can deny that Japanese culture has been one of the most influential across the globe. We can’t help but become fascinated with every aspect of their history from the feudal period to the modern. They’ve inspired everything from animation to fashion and we still want more. Once again, UNDONE steps up to bring us a piece of the past with its naughty yet fascinating Nippon Erotica: Shunga Collection.

Many would think that people were more conservative back then, but historians say otherwise. they say that by the 17th-century watchmakers were already offering these “special” personalization services. These customizations mostly catered to Western markets and depicted images based on such. UNDONE reimagines these in the form of two watches with an Eastern theme instead.

Exploring the UNDONE Nippon Erotica: Shunga Collection

image

As already implied by the name, the design of the duo is lifted from the erotic form of ukiyo-e (woodblock print or paintings). The Japanese refer to it as Shunga and was supposedly a good luck charm warriors of the time carry. UNDONE draws inspiration from the artworks to give us the Shunga: EDO and Shunga: MEIJI variants.

Both share the same technical specifications but sport varying images and colors. The one based on the 1603 – 1867 period features a beige and silver dial with a brown leather strap. Meanwhile, the other channels elements from 1868 – 1912 with its navy blue with silver dial and a gray suede strap.

A couple getting busy is printed just above 6 o’clock in the dial. To keep things discreet, UNDONE omits the racy parts from the dial. To get the full picture, all you need to do is to flip it over and view them in action on the case back. The old-school look and other vintage elements should appeal to buyers who want something retro on their wrist.

Getting Intimate With UNDONE’s New Timepiece

image

Now that you know what makes each chronograph in the Nippon Erotica: Shunga Collection different, it’s time we learn what they both share. These come in a polished 316L stainless steel case that measures 40 mm x 47.6 mm x 12.7 mm. This slim outline gives it a unisex appeal, which is a good balance in our opinion.

It’s easy to miss but the case band and sides edges of the lugs sport a brushed finish. Running down vertically below the 12 o’clock hour marker are the Kanji characters “當世風俗通.” Another one visible on the sub-dial at 9 o’clock is “春” which reads as Shunga.

Beneath the suggestive profile of the UNDONE Nippon Erotica: Shunga Collection is a reliable Japanese TMI VK64 Mechanical-Quartz Hybrid Flyback Chronograph movement. Each watch ships in beautiful packaging that gives you a hint of what to expect inside.
