A Classic 1980s Seiko Digital Watch Unexpectedly Returns to Take Casio to School

Today, we largely think of Seiko as a maker of analog mechanical watches. The brand that invented the quartz watch has almost entirely abandoned digital watches, ceding that territory to fellow Japanese watchmaker and rival Casio.

But back in the 1970s and ’80s, Seiko was the king of digital watches. Even James Bond wore a Seiko digital watch in those decades. Several of them, in fact. So did many real-life astronauts, who largely favored the brand’s innovative Rotocall model, which colloquially became known as the “Astronaut” due to its numerous trips to space.

Now, quite unexpectedly, Seiko has brought back the Rotocall in a modernized but still quite faithful guise, and it’s just as cool as it was four decades ago.

Casio, you are officially on notice.

Seiko is getting back into the digital game in a very cool way.
Seiko

Hello Roto

The Rotocall, Seiko references A829-A6019 and A829-A6029, debuted in 1982 when digital watches were still in their relative infancy and were throwing features at the wall to see what would stick. As such, the watch included a unique feature that, frankly, I wish would have stuck around.

On most digital watches, like those from Casio, you typically select your different functions by pressing a series of buttons. I’m something of a Luddite when it comes to watches, which is probably why I’ve never gotten on board the G-Shock train like most other enthusiasts — I simply don’t want to have to push a bunch of buttons to use my watch.

Casio Time Travels Back to the ’80s for One of Its Best Retro Watches Yet

In 1985, a little film directed by Robert Zemeckis hit the silver screen, catapulting its star, Michael J. Fox, to worldwide stardom. In the flick, Fox’s character, Marty McFly, wears what’s now considered one of Casio’s most iconic digital watches ever.

A whopping 40 years later, the brand has introduced a new take on that very watch that pays homage to the film itself. Or rather, it pays homage to the movie’s real star, the DeLorean time machine.

As such, it probably comes as no surprise to those in the know that the appropriately retro Back to the Future x Casio Vintage CA-500WEBF-1A is one of the brand’s best throwbacks yet.

You won’t need to hit 88 miles per hour to make use of this retro masterpiece.
Casio

Great Scott!

As mentioned, this is a new take on the very same watch that Marty McFly, the film’s protagonist, wears throughout the movie. As far as its overall form is concerned, this is still a classic Casio calculator watch through and through.

That means it retains its upper third digital display, as well as the full push-button keyboard controls that take up the bottom two-thirds, just like the original CA-53. It’s also powered by a modern take on the watch’s quartz movement, which lends it superior accuracy and reliability.

Apple 14-Inch MacBook Pro (M5)

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with Apple’s M5 chip is exactly the same as the M4-equipped model that was released in the fall of 2024. However, according to Apple, the M5 chip makes the new model “get even faster, more capable, and delivers a huge leap in AI performance.” It’s available for preorder now, with shipping starting on October 22. It starts at $1,599, just like its predecessor.

Apple iPad Pro (M5)

Apple has refreshed its iPad Pro lineup with its new M5 chip. The upgraded silicon promises key performance and efficiency gains, as well as up to 3.5x the AI performance compared to the iPad Pro with M4 and up to 5.6x faster than the iPad Pro with M1. They also feature the Apple N1 chip, which should make Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Thread connections more reliable. And for cellular models, they’ve been updated with Apple’s C1X modem (replacing the Qualcomm modem in the M4 models), which should increase the iPad Pro’s speed when using cellular. Available for pre-order now, the M5 models start shipping on October 22.

Apple Vision Pro (2nd-Generation)

Apple just upgraded its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset. The key feature of this second-generation model is its inclusion of Apple’s new M5 processor, which promises to deliver significant improvements in performance, graphics, and battery life compared to the first-generation model (which utilized Apple’s M4 chip). Additionally, it now comes with a new Dual Knit Band, which should make the headset more comfortable to wear. Other than that, the M5 Vision Pro looks, works and costs the same as the M4 Vision Pro, which was released in 2024. It goes on sale on October 22.

Maserati Grecale Tributo Il Bruciato

Maserati just unveiled a very special version of its flagship SUV, the Grecale, compliments of its Fuoriserie individualization program. It’s called the Tributo Il Bruciato and is designed specifically to pay tribute to living the easy Italian life in one of Italy’s most iconic regions: Bolgheri. As such, it receives a one-off Alchima Scarlatta exterior color, themed to echo the region’s reputation for exquisite wines, with the choice of two 21-inch wheel designs, and a host of other bespoke appointments otherwise not available with the standard Grecale. Although Maserati didn’t say how many they’re making, they did note that production is extremely limited.

Flowfold

Flowfold Recycled Sailcloth Porter Tote – 16L

These days, it takes a lot for a tote to stand out from the crowd. Flowfold’s new Recycled Sailcloth Porter Tote does just that, thanks to its innovative materials and construction methods; the same that catapulted its first and best-selling wallet into popularity. The 16 liter tote featuring 10-inch handles is made from reclaimed Composite Racing Sailcloth with X-Ply, a material originally developed for elite sailboat racing. This novel material lends the tote inherent waterproof and windproof capabilities, as well as a unique look. Available in white, grey, jade and rust, this everyday tote weighs just 6.5 ounces, making it an appealing EDC carry-all.

Roka Niseko + Bridger Snow Goggles

Having spent well over a decade innovating in the performance sunglass space, Austin, Texas-based Roka gets in the goggle game with a couple of compelling options. The approachable Bridger ($195, shown) boasts a wide view via a toric lens while the Niseko ($295) offers a cylindrical lens that fits better over glasses, plus a bonus low-light lens. In either case you get high-clarity C3 Optics (in a variety of tints), comfy triple-layer face foam, a grippy strap and MagStorm, Roka’s take on a magnet-powered, glove-friendly quick lens swap system.

Hyperice Normatec Elite Hips

For years, Hyperice has been at the top of the recovery device game, duking it out alongside Theragun. But now, the brand gets a leg up on the competition — or rather, both legs… The Normatec Elite Hips is the first-ever “fully portable dynamic air compression device” for the hips, meaning it offers dynamic compression and recovery for one of the most important hinge points on the body. It brings powerful recovery to your hips, IT bands, and lower back anytime, anywhere. And like its lower-leg counterparts, it’s also FSA-eligible.

Someone Finally Built a Convenient Titanium Multi-Tool You’ll Actually Use

Everyday carry is all about striking a balance between functionality and carry-friendliness. Unfortunately, compromises are often necessary, even with gear widely considered the best of the best.

This is especially true in the world of multi-tools. Leatherman’s offerings, for instance, are the gold standard for many; however, they are often bulky and boast more functions than necessary for the average EDC user. On the other hand, more minimalist offerings don’t offer the same utility.

Tacray’s new MT1 multi-tools look to split the difference with a highly carry-friendly format and exceptionally well-considered array of functions and materials.

Tacray

Goldilocks EDC multi-tool

So, what sets this multi-tool apart from the myriad other options on the market? Firstly, its size. Closed, the MT1 measures just 3.35 inches long — about the same as an average EDC knife (if not slightly smaller). With its tools extended, it’s only 5.67 inches total.

Furthermore, because the base tool is crafted from either aluminum or titanium (depending on your chosen configuration), it’s also exceptionally lightweight. At most, it weighs 3.16 ounces (and as little as 2.98 ounces). For reference, Leatherman’s best-selling ARC weighs a whopping 8.6 ounces.

2026 Bronco Sport Bronze Package

In response to the growing popularity of the color bronze in everything from fashion and consumer products to cars, Ford is introducing a new Bronze Package for its Bronco Sport line for 2026. Available on Big Bend and Badlands models — as well as with the Black Diamond Off-Road Package — the option features a set of 17-inch wheels in Sinister Bronze, some exclusive badging and painted fender accents. It’s a package that capitalizes on a trend that has come and gone throughout the industry (i.e., bronze wheels), but there’s no denying that it looks sharp when matched with some white paint.

Fujifilm Instax mini LiPlay+ (2025)

The Fujifilm Instax mini LiPlay+ is a new and improved version of the original Instax LiPlay, released in 2019. Like before, it’s a hybrid instant camera that allows you to view the photo (via a rear digital display) before deciding to print it. Most interestingly, the mini LiPlay+ is the first Instax camera that lets you record sound and then add an associated QR code on the photo. People can then hear that recording (limited to 3-second audio clips) by scanning the QR code. The camera is available in two color options: Sand Beige or Midnight Blue.

Made of durable reinforced 105D HT Nylon with a polyurethane coating, the self-standing, zipper-free Duffel Box compresses and expands as you need. The segmented roll-top opens wide and seals tight, supplementary panels and pockets make organizing a snap, and the unit can be configured for hand, shoulder or backpack carry. Currently funding on Kickstarter, the Duffel Box comes in 55L and 75L sizes, in black and green, and is estimated to ship in March 2026.

America’s Best Full-Size SUV Gets Even Better with a Fresh Face and Is the First with EREV Power

After many teasers, Jeep’s refreshed flagship SUV, the Grand Wagoneer, is officially here. The company pulled the digital wraps off the model for the world to see, after an initial rocky start.

When the Auburn Hills automaker revitalized its iconic Wagoneer in 2022, it quickly rose to the top of its game. Not only did offer an exquisite driving experience that’s eons better than its rivals.

It also brought back a model that fans so desperately clamored for. However, it wasn’t without its growing pains.

For instance, the Wagoneer range was woefully confusing, with two different models: the former and the fancier Grand Wagoneer. Then, there were some other confusion nomenclature theming, including the terms “Series III” and other odd designations.

Jeep’s refresh of the model addresses these most pressing criticisms. It also adds more to the mix, including the first-ever extended-range electric variant — for both the model and the segment.

This Underrated Affordable Swiss Brand Quietly Launched Its Best Sports Watch Yet

Practically every affordable brand these days has its own attainable version of a luxury sports watch, with virtually all of them basing their designs on those two integrated-bracelet icons, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Philippe Nautilus.

But Mido did things a little differently with its high-end-looking sports watch.

Instead of going the integrated route like all of its competitors, the lesser-known Swatch Group brand seemingly took inspiration from a different, non-integrated icon from Patek: the Aquanaut. Mido’s Aquanaut-lookalike, the Multifort TV Big Date, has quickly become one of the brand’s most recognizable watches.

Now, Mido has added to the Multifort TV Big Date line with its most impressive version of the sports watch yet.

Mido has updated its popular TV-shaped sports watch with a new titanium version.

Titanium TV

Since launching the original Multifort TV Big Date in stainless steel, Mido has continuously added to the Multifort TV collection with new Big Date versions in gold or black PVD, a smaller 35mm version and an automatic chronograph. The latest is the Multifort TV Big Date Titanium, which not only swaps the original’s 39.2mm x 40mm steel case for titanium, but also includes a full titanium bracelet.

The new titanium model is of course lighter than its steel predecessors, but it’s received the same impressive level of finishing that the TV Big Date has become known for. That includes the signature Aquanaut-like broad bezel that’s vertically brushed on top and mirror-polished on its sides. The case also retains its slim 11.5mm thickness and its screw-down crown-reinforced 100m water resistance.

The Apple Watch Just Gained a New Balance-Backed Running Rival

But the biggest reason behind the TAG Heuer Connected’s staying power, by far, is its focus on golf. The watch’s many golf-specific features — like maps for over 40,000 courses, shot tracking, swing analysis and more — have made it a fixture on fairways around the world. One even got a share of the limelight usually reserved for luxury watches from Rolex and Omega when Tommy Fleetwood wore one to celebrate his victory at the PGA Tour Championship earlier this year.

But now, TAG has its sights set on capturing another athletic demographic that wants a dedicated fitness watch that’s also as everyday-wearable as the Apple Watch.

The Connected Calibre E5 has a brand-new operating system — one that TAG developed in-house over a three-year period — and with it comes a host of new features and specs aimed at runners.

There’s a new Running Plans feature that offers users a structured path toward achieving their goals, regardless of their experience level. You can track your progress over weeks to keep yourself accountable, while features like pace trackers and feedback, guided sessions, interval timers and more are designed to seamlessly integrate into your running routine.

New dual-band GNSS technology offers unparalleled GPS tracking. No longer will you have to worry about your signal cutting out while running indoors; the maps remain startingly accurate no matter what. Also new is Made for iPhone certification and Strava integration, making the watch easier to plug into your everyday life and your running community, respectively.

These Top-Tier New Balance Sneakers Are Ridiculously Affordable Right Now

If you haven’t noticed, we here at Gear Patrol love us some New Balance sneakers, but we’ll be the first to admit that the Massachusetts brand can get a bit pricey.

Of course, you get what you pay for because the Made in USA and Made in UK collections offer some of the industry’s highest-quality construction, and plenty of standard models aren’t far off.

The 475 offers a quality similar to New Balance’s Made in USA and Made in UK collections.
End

Fortunately, End is currently offering steep discounts on some of the top New Balance models. There is a treasure trove of obscure and sought-after sneakers buried in an avalanche of spring and summer gear that the UK retailer is trying to clear out before the holiday season.

A New Balance treasure trove

There are too many great sneakers to include in a reasonably sized roundup, so I did my best to narrow it down to eight. This includes some premium designs, like a baby blue Made in UK 992, a creamy white Made in USA 992 and a rare Made in USA 997 in “Oatmeal.”

Every pair is either 40 or 35 percent off, dropping many premium examples below $200 and some standard models below $100. The best part is that End is stocked with rare, obscure models that are not offered anywhere else.

Timex’s Beloved Q Lineup Gets a Pair of Slick, Affordable ’70s-Inspired Retro Chronographs

These ones are more minimalist, lacking the two-toned, textured styling of the Waterbury. They’re also rendered in gray, blue and black (left to right), as opposed to gray, dark gray and blue.

However, that’s far from the only stylistic departure. These Q watches also have more simplified indices and markings, two-tone hour and minute hands, and they’re free of red highlights (as on the indices and seconds hand).

You don’t have to drive a classic car to enjoy these watches, but it doesn’t hurt, either.
Timex

Daily driver

While these watches draw clear comparisons to the Zenith El Primero, that’s hardly their only inspiration. In the brand’s own words, these watches hearken to “the original motoring watches that graced the tracks of Europe’s most iconic races.”

That starts with the “ultra-precise” quartz analog chronograph movement at its core (and its accompanying complications). However, it also extends to the tachymeter bezel — a classic, iconic element of racing chronos across the ages.

The powerbank itself has a 9,300mAh capacity and wirelessly charges your iPhone. There’s also an integrated retractable USB-C cable and a USB-C port for charging up to two other devices. It’s available in three colors: blue, grey and sand.

Ming Polymesh

Ming continues its innovative ways with the Polymesh, a strap/bracelet hybrid unlike anything else on the market. 3D-printed from rugged Grade 5 titanium, the “mesh” strap consists of 1,693 components — including the Tuck Buckle — which are all formed simultaneously and interconnected in a closed loop. The end result looks like mesh but is essentially one single piece, allowing the Polywesh to wear like a strap while offering the feel of a bracelet, giving wearers the best of both worlds. It’s designed to fit all Ming watches with 20mm lug widths, but should fit non-Ming watches too. The Polymesh is priced at CHF 1,500 (~$1,862).

Longines Expands Its Spirit Collection With Two New Pilot’s Watches

What makes the Longines Spirit Pilot and Longines Spirit Pilot Flyback worth talking about — by Gear Patrol Studios.

Close-up of a Longines black dial chronograph watch with gold numerals and hands, and two Longines watches on green and silver straps.Longines

Welcome to Talking Points, a series that looks at what makes certain products worth talking about, brought to you by Gear Patrol Studios.

Longines has a history of making watches for explorers, from the early pioneers of air, land, and sea to the modern-day adventurer. This year, the watchmaker adds two new models to its aviation-inspired Spirit line: the three-hand Longines Spirit Pilot and the chronograph Longines Spirit Pilot Flyback.

Both timepieces pair the brand’s deep aviation heritage with modern mechanical innovation.

Close-up of a Longines watch movement with visible gears, blue screws, and stainless steel casing.

A Century of Aviation Timekeeping Excellence

For more than a century, Longines has been intertwined with the world’s greatest explorers. The brand’s story is deeply woven into the world of aviation, and the watchmaker has produced precision instruments relied upon by pilots.

That legacy of bringing together both elegance and functionality is present in the clean lines and state-of-the-art horological technologies of its two new models. Both of these new watches highlight the brand’s mastery in balancing heritage design with contemporary watchmaking, reaffirming Longines’ position as a leader in the pilot watch category. This isn’t a reissue of a historical design, it’s more of a natural evolution to serve modern wearers while paying tribute to the past.

The Newly Expanded Spirit Collection

The Longines Spirit Pilot offers a three-hand design in a new 39mm stainless steel case that’s more ergonomic and versatile for daily wear. A matte black dial, now simplified by removing the date window and five-star emblem, improves legibility while gold-colored Arabic numerals and hands nod to cockpit instruments of decades past. A screw-down case back improves durability, and an interchangeable strap system makes it easy to swap between bracelet, leather, or rubber options. Inside, the exclusive caliber L888.4 delivers a 72-hour power reserve, COSC-certified accuracy and magnetic resistance far beyond industry standards.

The Longines Spirit Pilot Flyback builds on a milestone from Longines’ history: the invention of the flyback chronograph in the 1930s. This 39.5mm stainless steel chronograph is slim at 13.4mm and offers — for the first time in the Spirit line — a bidirectional rotating bezel with a countdown timer. Its matte black dial, sapphire crystal, and gold-tone Super-LumiNova® numerals ensure cockpit-ready readability. The hand-wound caliber L792.4 powers the flyback chronograph with a column wheel, 68 hours of reserve, and COSC certification, visible through the transparent case back.

How these Timepieces Elevate the Spirit Line

These two additions to the Spirit line capture Longines’ rare ability to respect its own history while delivering products that feel distinctly modern. The three-hand Longines Spirit Pilot is a versatile everyday companion with upgraded ergonomics, simplified design, and technical rigor. The Longines Spirit Pilot Flyback appeals to enthusiasts who want not only a nod to aviation history, but also a sophisticated chronograph movement rooted in Longines’ own innovations. Together, they embody what makes pilot watches so enduring: clarity, reliability, and a sense of adventure that transcends time.

Another week down, and, per usual, a bunch of new tech and gadgets have been announced.

This past week, Kanto Audio revealed its first-ever turntable, Sennheiser introduced a pair of wireless noise-canceling headphones for audiophiles, and Audioengine announced a new portable DAC/amp for wired headphone enthusiasts. But that’s just scratching the surface.

Below, we’ve rounded up all the most interesting new releases and announcements you might have missed from the past week.

Green Kanto turntable with black platter, tonearm, silver control knobs, and transparent dust cover open.Kanto Audio

Kanto Audio Obi3

Kanto Audio’s Obi3 is the Canadian hi-fi maker’s first-ever turntable. It’s a belt-drive turntable with a built-in phono preamplifier (switchable) and Bluetooth, allowing you to integrate into a wired or wireless hi-fi system. Other than its clean and beautiful aesthetic, the main selling point of the Obi3 is price — it costs just $200, making it one of the more affordable integrated turntables out there. According to the brand, it “marks the beginning of a new Kanto series that reimagines traditional hi-fi for contemporary listeners.”

Sennheiser HDB 630

The Sennheiser HDB 630 is the first real premium pair of wireless noise-canceling headphones that the famed German hi-fi manufacturer has released in several years (specifically, the 2022-released Momentum 4). The headphones promise to deliver flagship-level sound, active noise-cancellation and comfort. That said, what makes them stand out is their ability to deliver high-resolution sound, both wired and wirelessly. When connected to a source via a USB-C or 3.5mm cable, the HDB 630 can play audio at up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution. When used with the included USB-C transmitter, which plugs into your smartphone or laptop, the headphones support aptX Adaptive and can play higher fidelity audio over Bluetooth. In a nutshell, they’re high-end noise-canceling wireless headphones catered to audiophiles.

Audioengine HXL

The Audioengine HXL is a portable DAC and headphone amplifier that plugs into a laptop, tablet or smartphone via USB-C. It features dual CS43131 DACs that support high-fidelity audio up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD256. It also has a 60-step digital hardware volume control and both 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced outputs. According to the Texas-based audio maker, the HXL is designed to deliver “serious headphone performance in a portable, plug-and-play form factor.”

Silver and black MOON audio amplifier with digital display showing music track information and a large volume knob.Simaudio

Simaudio Moon 371

The Moon 371 is a super versatile “just add speaker” amplifier that’s designed for modern audiophiles. It combines a power amplifier, preamplifier, DAC, network player, and phono stage into a single box with a beautiful color display. As an amplifier, it’s capable of delivering 200 watts into 4 ohms or 100 watts into 8 ohms, meaning it should be fully capable of driving a wide range of high-end loudspeakers. Notably, Simaudio integrated it with several proprietary technologies from its flagship North Collection, including the MHP power supply, which promises to provide ultra-stable power, and the MDCA distortion-canceling amplifier, which aims to deliver an exceptionally clean and dynamic sound.

Black Unistellar binoculars with textured focus rings and a strap against a dark gray background.Unistellar

Unistellar Envision

Unistellar’s Envision is the company’s first pair of smart binoculars. They combine new-age tech with Nikon optics to deliver an augmented reality overlay of what you’re looking at. You can look at a mountain range and it’ll tell you the various names of each peak and their elevation. It can also identify lakes, rivers, trails and other landmarks. At night, it can also help identify stars, planets, asteroids, moons, and galaxies. The AR binoculars are now available for preorder at a discounted price of $1,000, with shipping expected in October 2026.

Black rectangular electronic device with a large round knob on the front and subtle embossed branding.LastObject

LastObject SoundUp

Launched on Kickstarter, LastObject’s SoundUp is a miniature amplifier with Bluetooth streaming capabilities. What sets it apart, however, is that it has a built-in battery and thus doesn’t need to be connected to power to drive the speaker. This means that not only can the SoundUp drive a passive loudspeaker … it can also turn that passive speaker into a wireless portable speaker. Noteworthy, the SoundUp can only output mono, but you can stack two together to drive a pair of bookshelf speakers and create a portable stereo setup.

8 New Pocket Knives, Multi-Tools and EDC Items You Might Have Missed

Behold innovative releases from names you know (Civivi, CRKT) and one you probably don’t (N.U.M.B. Knifeworks).

Between Civivi’s humble Partake and CRKT’s over-the-top Provoke X, the past week was a banner one for remarkable innovation in the knife and EDC space.

Yet the most interesting news came from a debutante, N.U.M.B. Knifeworks, which has introduced an entirely new locking mechanism that could change the game.

Catch up on all most interesting recent drops below.

Compact black and silver foldable camping utensils set with a fork and spoon, branded Civivi.Civivi

Civivi Partake

With a closed length of 4.37 inches and weight of 4.17 ounces, this sleek spork replacer is as pocketable as any of the brand’s more predictable offerings. Made largely of stainless steel and aluminum, the Partake features a fork, spoon, knife and bottle/can opener that Civivi claims doubles as a seatbelt cutter, introducing some life-saving utility to the mix.

N.U.M.B. Knifeworks N1 Cornerstone

The first-ever release from N.U.M.B. (Nick’s Unhinged Mechanical Brain) Knifeworks, this magnificent folder marks the introduction of the brand’s proprietary PinchLOK mechanism, a highly reliable, secure dual-sided lock. However, it’s also a magnificent blade besides that, boasting an S90V steel blade, titanium handle, dual deployments and a trio of colorways.

Benchmade Custom Bugout

The ability to customize Benchmade’s best and most popular EDC knife is not new, but the brand recently introduced two notable customization options. For the surprisingly low amount of just $10 more, you can upgrade to a blade made of MagnaCut, renowned for its blend of edge retention, corrosion resistance and toughness. For $150 more, meanwhile, you can add Fatcarbon handle scales, available in five different varieties: Livewire, Snow Fire, Purple Haze, Frost and Jungle Wear.

Folding knife with a patterned Damascus steel blade and textured blue handle.Civivi

Civivi Mini Shakan

In the Damascus steel-bladed variant, this knife is a stone-cold stunner. Highlights include a 2.48-inch drop point blade, a textured, ergonomic blue aluminum handle and a weight of just 1.84 ounces. Let’s not forget three deployment methods — ambidextrous thumb studs, a rear flipper and an honest-to-goodness button lock that significantly eases one-handed retraction of the blade.

WESN

WESN x Ekster The Microblade

It’s not easy to make a knife this, well, red. But through trial and error, WESN hit upon a careful process of painting and heat treating, layer by layer, resulting in one bold, bright knife for life. Otherwise it is the same great 1-ounce Microblade: 1.5 inches of D2 steel deployed from the Grade 5 titanium handle via the rear flipper or thumb stud and held in place with a sturdy liner lock. Note: As part of the collaboration with EDC brand Ekster, this limited-edition release has a second separate $120 element: a lightweight aluminum wallet, the Card Holder Pro, that fits up to 12 cards. Oh and act fast, if past history is any indication, this stuff won’t stick around long.

Folding knife with stonewashed blade and black handle featuring topographic pattern and thumb studs.Hogue

Hogue Mysto Richlite

Hogue’s USA-made Mysto is already one of the brand’s best knives, boasting an outstanding all-around build that’s hard-working and perfect for EDC. However, its new Richlite editions have done what seemed practically impossible until now: they boast a MagnaCut super steel blade and cost under $180. Whatever way you spin it, that makes this crossbar folder one of the dark horses for best knives of the year.

crkt provoke x embedCRKT

CRKT Provoke X

Following in the footsteps of the Provoke and Provoke EDC, the Provoke X is a first-of-its-kind morphing tactical axe that fits in your pocket. Designed like its predecessors by Joe Caswell, it deploys with a flick of the wrist, ready to swing into action at a moment’s notice. The blade and spike are secured open with CRKT’s proprietary Deadbolt lock and slide into recessed positions on the handle when closed.

Folding knife with a black blade and a textured light brown handle.Civivi

Civivi Voidflare

Yet another example of Civivi’s impressive budget-friendly prowess, the four available configurations of the Voidflare won’t cost you more than $105 per knife. But what you get is pretty spectacular from a design and material standpoint, especially for two of the options. While the black G-10 and fish scale-style resin handles are both interesting in their own right, the other two — the copper and aluminum foil options — are arguably more unique, courtesy of their jewelry-style construction, which sees metal onlayed over G-10.

Nike Taps Its Vintage Archive for a Forgotten Hiking Boot Not Seen in 20 Years

Longtime Swoosh collaborator Stüssy inspires a remaster of an early ACG boot that last surfaced in 2005.

If innovation is the name of the game, Nike’s certainly put its best foot forward in 2025.

This year saw the release of the brand’s most advanced daily trainer to date; one of the fastest apparel systems in history; and an outdoor “sweater” that could change summer workouts forever.

But none of that will stop the biggest brand in sports from dipping its toes into the past, especially when Stüssy gets involved.

Following up on last year’s LD-1000 reissue, Nike and its longtime collaborator will once again revive a forgotten model from the archive. Only this time, it’s one plucked out of the All Condition Gear (ACG) vault.

The Baltoro headlines a new collaboration between Nike and Stüssy. The boot last appeared in 2005.

A street-savvy remaster

The model in question is a boot called the Baltoro, which Nike debuted in 1990 as part of its early ACG lineup.

The new Baltoro is more of a remaster than a reissue, thanks to upgraded leather and toned-down colorways.

Whereas the original version boasted vivid colorways typical of the 1990s, the new model mostly arrives as a toned-down, street-savvy remaster, as evidenced by the black and brown colorways.

That being said, a bright safety-orange variant is also available to purists who prefer to preserve the bold spirit of the vintage Baltoro.

The boot last appeared in 2005, making the model the obvious headliner of a broader collection.

However, the new drop also introduces one of the largest apparel lines from the longstanding Nike and Stüssy partnership, which dates back to the early 2000s.

Availability and pricing

All three colorways of the Baltoro are available to purchase from Stüssy‘s official website, with the black-and-white colorway releasing via the Nike Snkrs app on October 17. It costs $155.

Should it sell out, fret not. The Baltoro will likely trickle down into Nike’s mainline catalog, as seen with the LD-1000 and Bode Astrograbber.

Is This the Most Daring Watch Design of the Year?

The shape of the dial, for instance, resembles the surface of a pond, mid-splash. However, what’s perhaps more interesting is how it’s constructed. The base case is titanium, while the crystal is sapphire.

But here’s where it gets really wild: that undulating bezel is also crafted from solid sapphire. Furthermore, encapsulated within that case is a skeletonized dial which can be peered straight through to the caseback. And that’s important, because the watch’s movement is also significant.

This is the first watch featuring the brand’s new, smaller Meca-10 in-house manual movement.
Hublot

Art of fusion

Visible behind the skeletonized dial and through the exhibition caseback, you can see the Swiss-made, 29-jewel Meca-10 movement. This is a new, smaller take on a manual movement, and this watch marks its very first appearance.

But novelty alone is not the only thing special about this movement. It also features a digital power reserve display driven by a “crémaillère” rack system, rare for a mechanical watch. The result is an elegant mechanism that’s also highly intuitive.

This Stunning Affordable Flipper Has What May Be Civivi’s Most Unique Handle Yet

Everyone gets excited about knife blades. And that makes sense; it’s the pointy end that does most of the work. Of course, it’s the fan-favorite element.

But sometimes, it’s the other end of the knife — the handle — that deserves the spotlight. Such is the case with Civivi’s Voidflare, which might just have the brand’s most unique handles so far.

Folding knife with a black blade and a light brown patterned wooden handle on a peach background.
The copper and aluminum versions of the Voidflare are even more unique than you might realize.
Civivi

Foiled again!

For reference, the Voidflare is available in four distinct configurations.

One sports a black G-10 blade with gold liners mated to a black stonewashed 14C28N blade. Another has the same blade material, albeit with a satin finish, and a fish scale-inspired resin handle with blue liners. And both of them are eye-catching beauties.

However, it’s the other two that really stand apart, both for their looks and their construction. There’s one with a Damascus blade and an aluminum handle, and another with a black stonewashed 14C28N blade and a copper handle. But it’s how those handles are rendered that’s really interesting.

Our Place Wonder Oven Pro

When Our Place’s original Wonder Oven hit the scene, it became an instant hit — largely thanks to its incredibly 6-in-1 versatility. Now, the brand has followed it up with the Wonder Oven Pro, which improves on the original in nearly every way. Now, it boasts 8-in-1 functionality, including working as an oven, air fryer, toaster, dehydrator, roaster, proofer and more. It’s also bigger, so you can fit more of your meal inside it, and it has a sleek new digital control scheme (instead of just simple dials).

Black over-ear wireless headphones with silver accents on a marble table next to a smartphone and an open book.Sennheiser

Diver-style wristwatch with black textured rubber strap and blue dial showing date and luminous markers.Les Forban

Le Forban La Marseillaise Sécurité Mer

La Marseillaise is a solid, capable dive watch with a 250m water resistance and a Sellita caliber SW200-1 automatic movement. Based on one of Le Forban’s designs from 1979, it has an appealing, if well-worn, diver dial available in a radial-brushed dark turquoise called Bleu Abysse or with black radial brushing and creamy lume called Noir Onyx. But the real selling point is that, as far as I can tell, this is the first watch with a rubber bund strap. It’s one of those “I can’t believe no one did this before” moments because it makes perfect sense to protect the wearer from a steel watch case that goes through extreme temperature fluctuations when diving.

Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer

Renowned Porsche restoration specialist Singer is making its first showing in Japan with the completion of its latest 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined build. Shod in a combination of Celeste Passalacqua over Mars Pink velvet, it comes powered by a 420-horsepower naturally aspirated flat-six that’s been paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Along with luxe touches inside and out, it comes with plenty of modern tech like Bosch ABS, traction control and electronic stability control.

Suzuki e-VanVan

Among many head-turning concepts showcased at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show is Suzuki’s electrified throwback to an adorable bike that launched in the 1970s, came back in 2003 as a 125cc ride and stuck around till 2016. While much of what the brand is teasing at the show leans weirder and wilder, this small wonder feels pretty practical. Details are scant at the moment, but considering the current popularity of similar-looking (albeit gas-powered) bikes like the Honda Monkey, here’s hoping this thing pops up stateside down the road.

Silver TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch with black bezel and digital display showing temperature, heart rate, and time.Tag Heuer

Tag Heuer Connected Calibre E5

In a slightly unexpected move, Tag Heuer’s latest release is making the switch from Google Wear OS’s operating system to its proprietary “TAG Heuer OS” in the form of the new Connected Calibre E5 smartwatch. While its new platform is still based on Android, the Tag Heuer OS comes with a twist: it’s also compatible with iPhones. Dual-band GPS and precision sensors track workouts and wellness metrics, including sleep patterns, heart rate variability, SpO2 levels and more. The new 45mm model is clad in robust steel with an ergonomic black ceramic bezel, integrated straps, streamlined pushers and faceted lugs and features customizable watch faces, which include the iconic Carrera and Formula 1 collections.

Hoka’s Classic Retro Runner Just Got the Rugged, All-Terrain Upgrade It Needed

First released in 2012, the Stinson Evo continues its comeback run, this time with an extra layer of weatherproofing.

For the most part, the Stinson Evo OG has all the hallmarks that Hoka fans have come to expect from the brand.

Based off a design from 2012, the shoe carries Hoka’s signature rocker, massive amounts of foam and an impressive cushion-to-weight ratio.

But there has been one thing missing from the handful of variants we’ve seen since it came out in 2024, and it headlines a new collaboration with the Vancouver-based outfit Haven: waterproofing.

Thick skin

As the name suggests, the new Stinson Evo GTX comes with a Gore-Tex Invisible Fit membrane, effectively converting the lifestyle-focused reissue back into a true trail runner.

Other technical details include a speed-lacing system and TPU overlays, similar to the original Stinson Evo. Only here, the entire upper takes on a tonal colorway that Haven calls “Tarmac.”

In a nod to the past, previous versions of the Stinson Evo OG came with a heel tab that read “Hoka One One” (the brand dropped “One One” from its name in 2021).

Here, however, that’s replaced with the Haven logo, subtly embossed on the microfiber material also found on the toebox.

Availability and pricing

Haven has yet to confirm the price of the Stinson Evo GTX, but it’s safe to assume it will carry a small uncharge from the standard Stinson Evo OG, which costs $175.

It goes on sale October 17 exclusively at Haven, with a broader release scheduled for October 24.

Seiko’s Slick New GMT Dive Watch Is a Deep Sea Masterpiece

Silver Seiko dive watch with black and gold bezel and black dial showing GMT and 300m water resistance, over underwater diver background.
The beautiful black and gilt dial is ironically not ideal for diving.
Seiko

Black and gold is an overdone combination in watch design and often comes off as lame, but when executed with the necessary restraint, it is gorgeous. Seiko doesn’t frequently play this card in its higher-tier watches, which makes it all the more appealing on this elite $2,000 diver.

Availability and price

I hate it when there is a catch, and this is a big one. One of Seiko’s finest watches of 2025 is also one of its scarcest. The Prospex 1968 Diver’s GMT ‘Seashadow’ SPB534 is limited to 500 pieces, an extremely tight run for the Japanese watchmaker. For comparison, 6,000 pieces of the anniversary reference were produced.

But it gets worse for American shoppers. This beauty is only available for purchase in person at Seiko’s Bond Street Boutique in London, England, for £1,600.

If you’re going to book a flight to Heathrow, I would do it fast.
