An Iconic Brand Finally Improves upon a Centuries-Old EDC Essential

The art of writing things by hand is (you know, with paper and pen), sadly, a dying art — one I’ve lamented for a long time. And that’s a shame, as there are a lot of good reasons to write things down by hand, like better memory, improved critical thinking, quicker learning and more.

One of the roadblocks to embracing a handwriting habit has always been pocket space. Adding a notebook (and a pen) alongside your phone, keys, knife and wallet can be a big ask. But what if you could streamline it?

That’s the question answered by the Issey Miyake x Moleskine Note-a-Note, which finally improves on a centuries-old EDC essential in some crucial ways.

The accordion-style pages save space and offer greater writing surface area than traditional bindings can.

Pocket notebook, reimagined

This pocket notebook features a hard cover, is filled with blank pages, and fits conveniently in your pocket. So, what sets it apart from other pocket notebooks? Glad you asked.

For starters, this is actually smaller than most pocket notebooks — about the same size as a cardholder wallet (and shares some functionality, but more on that later). That makes it even easier to carry, as it cuts down the necessary space.

This Is the Dive Watch You Design When You’re an Accomplished U.S. Navy Diver

Dive watches are arguably the most popular style of analog watch worn today, with luxury models like the Rolex Submariner, Omega Seamaster and Blancpain Fifty Fathoms having reached iconic status and popping up on nearly every enthusiast collector’s wishlist.

Although those watches are all highly capable as actual dive watches, I wouldn’t say that’s their first priority. They are luxury objects that are designed to look good and make their wearers feel good. Most people who own them won’t ever take them diving; the watches will spend more time in front of a keyboard than underwater — that’s why we have the term “desk diver.”

But what if a modern dive watch were created solely for diving and prioritized functionality over fashion? Or, to be more specific, what would a dive watch look like if it were designed by an actual U.S. Navy diver who stripped away all excess to create a pure diving instrument?

Well, as it turns out, it would look a lot like the new JB300 Profonde from French dive watchmaker Jacques Bianchi Marseille and U.S. Navy diver Brock Stevens.

Diver's watch with black dial, luminous markers, and green fabric strap with yellow stitching on metal surface with red and yellow labels.
If you want to actually take your dive watch diving, use this.

Deepsea diver

I’ve met Brock Stevens — better known by his social handle @Deepsea.EDC — a few times at watch events, and I’ve made a couple of observations about him. First of all, he’s one of the nicest guys in the watch biz. Secondly, the guy is basically Gear Patrol in human form.

He spent over seven years as an active-duty U.S. Navy diver, he’s a professional photographer, he lives in the woods, he drives a Land Rover Series IIA, and he’s obsessed with EDC gear and watches, routinely testing products for cool brands like Prometheus Design Werx, Watches of Espionage, Tornek-Rayville and more.

Luminox’s Latest Ultra-Tough Watch Is an Exercise in Precision Military Navigation

However, this tachymeter bezel is special and stands apart from others. Traditional versions are designed for high-speed travel, like in cars. However, this one is a slower scale, as it is made specifically with walking speeds in mind, helping those crossing terrain on foot track their distance.

But it doesn’t stop there. Even the strap gets in on the action via an integrated, removable compass. Better still, the rubber strap itself has integrated map scales and ruler markings to make tracking your journey, wherever it might take you, even simpler.

Luminox

Ultralight, ultra-tough

Another signature of Luminox’s offerings is toughness. Like its siblings, this watch offers that quality in spades.

For instance, the case is made from the brand’s carbon-based Carbonox proprietary material, which is exceptionally lightweight but also remarkably durable and tough. It’s also shock- and scratch-resistant, for a little extra bonus.

21 Watches You Missed from Timex, Christopher Ward, G-Shock and More

From afar, the watch industry may seem unhurried. But every passing day brings about new timepieces from brands big, small, new and old.

Below, find more than 20 new releases from the likes of affordable brands like Timex and G-Shock, luxury legends such as Breguet and Zenith, and enthusiast favorites like Christopher Ward and Baltic. G-Shock Nano DWN-5600

G-Shock hops onto the ring-watch bandwagon with the most capable timepiece yet: a fully functional tool watch based off the brand’s original square design, only at one-tenth the size. That said, it still boasts G-Shock’s famed shock-ready construction and 200 meters of water resistance.

RZE Resolute 36

RZE has launched a new, refined version of its original titanium field watch, the Resolute, in a smaller 36mm case size and with a more angular, contemporary aesthetic that makes it just as ideal to wear indoors as outdoors.

This Rugged and Refined $680 Titanium Field Watch Is Designed to Be Worn Everywhere

Singapore/Malaysia-based microbrand RZE has carved out a nice little niche for itself in the crowded affordable watch space with its focus on approachable titanium tool watches, all of which boast the brand’s proprietary UltraHex anti-scratch coating.

The brand’s first model, the Resolute, debuted back in 2020 during the brief period when the brand called itself Reiss. And while the Reiss name was replaced by RZE long ago, the Resolute remains in the brand’s catalog as its flagship field watch and as a perfect representation of what the brand does so well: make tough tool watches that are affordable and stylish.

Now, RZE has expanded its Resolute line with a new offering in 36mm. But this isn’t just a shrunken-down version of the 40mm field watch; it features a more elevated design that’s meant to be worn in a wider variety of situations.

Silver metal wristwatch with black textured dial and silver hour markers worn on a wrist.
A smaller, thinner, classier Resolute wants to take you beyond the “field.”
RZE

Play the field

The Resolute 36 keeps the bigger Resolute’s signature angular case design, but it now features a bit of polish around the bezel and is thinner than ever, clocking in at just 9.5mm thick. That’s 1mm thinner than the 40mm version, and decidedly svelte for what is ostensibly a field watch, making the 36mm version almost dressy. It’s also the lightest watch RZE has ever produced at, get this, 36 grams (or 90 on the bracelet).

Further helping in the dressy regard is the completely redesigned dial. While the original Resolute features a large triangle index at 12:00 and large bar indices elsewhere, all heavily filled with Super-LumiNova, the 36 goes in a different direction.

This Legendary Tool Watch Brand Changes Gears With a Fun Daily Wearer

Regardless of the motivation, the muted green and pink dials are comforting to look at. It is, indeed, a pleasant thing to strap to your wrist and glance at countless times a day, which can’t hurt during the darkest, coldest winter months.

The 38.5mm rounded steel case holds a Soprod caliber SOP P024 automatic movement with a 4Hz beat rate and a 38-hour power reserve. So, as far as telling time is concerned, the colorful new Silva references are still reliable tools.

The Silva is available on a steel Milanese mesh strap with a sliding clasp.
Hanhart

With its comforting new paint job, you would be forgiven for mistaking the Silva for fellow German watchmaker Nomos. This tangential design is one of the most pleasant daily watches in Hanhart’s impressive catalog.

Availability and price

The Hanhart Pioneer Silva Pistachio and Rosé are available now in the European market, but have not yet made it to the American market. Hanhart’s exclusive North American retailer, Watchbuys, will likely stock it by the end of November.

Since the new dial color is priced the same as the original dials on Hanhart’s German website, it is safe to assume that Watchbuys will also sell them for the same price of $1,270.

Leica M EV1

Leica M EV1 is the company’s first M-mount camera that’s not a rangefinder. Instead, it features a 5.76-million-dot electronic viewfinder, making the camera a lot more familiar and user-friendly for modern photographers who use mirrorless cameras. Aside from the new viewfinder, the M EV1 shares many of the same specs as Leica’s 2023-released M11-P; it features the same processor, a 60-megapixel full-frame sensor, and also lacks the ability to record video.

Believe it or not, this super-small automatic knife is actually completely legal to carry in California, thanks to its compact size. Yet, despite its stoutness, it’s still a fully-fratured OTF (out-the-front). Boasting a 1.925-inch Vanax super steel dagger blade, a titanium and aluminum handle and a novel topographical finish, this knife is the definition of a “tiny titan.”

Fjällräven Expedition Down Lite Jacket Black Edition M

Fjällräven took its iconic Expedition Down Jacket and transformed it into a more everyday-friendly style, complete with an all-black treatment that ups the sleek vibes of this winter staple. This monochrome version features a matte-black leather badge, black anodized buttons, all-black trims and straps and even the interior labels are given the blackout treatment. The color (or lack of it) update isn’t the only change to the jacket though; the Expedition Down Lite Jacket has 35 percent less down than its puffier counterpart, making it easier for daily wear. It’s also 3.15 inches shorter than the original, giving it a boxier, slightly cropped look.

Wren

Wren Diver One Titanium Snow

Microbrand Wren has brought back its flagship Diver One “Snow,” but it’s decidedly better than before. Now crafted from lightweight titanium instead of stainless steel, the new version is 45 percent lighter. Its case has also been slimmed down by 0.6mm, despite using the same Sellita SW200 automatic movement. Other improvements include a fully lumed ceramic bezel and a micro-adjustable clasp on the titanium bracelet. The gradient white to blue “Snow” colorway, thankfully, remains intact.

Hardin’s Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey “Warehouse Series”

Hardin Creek, an ultrapremium brand within the broader Jim Beam portfolio, follows up on its 2023 Kentucky Series with a trio of bottles that showcase the impact of an individual warehouse. Three batches with identical mash bills were aged in unique locations at the distillery’s Clermont Campus, where different microclimates impart varying effects on the finished product. Each bottle retails for $150 and carries an 11-year age statement. The whiskey was bottled at around 110 proof.

Timex’s Affordable Field Watch Gets Its Sleekest, Sportiest Edition Yet

Despite the changes, this watch still bears the classic hallmarks of field watches, including Timex’s most classic takes on the Expedition. For instance, it lacks a bezel, keeping it minimalist and straightforward.

It also sports large dial indices and vibrant lume on the hour markers and hands. It also boasts a handy date window at the 3 o’clock position for a little extra utility.

With a 10-millimeter depth, the case is surprisingly compact in more ways than one.

Right on time

The case isn’t the only thing the Expedition Capstone has going for it. This watch also introduces a new strap style.

Available in two colorways — black and green — it’s a soft, flexible silicone strap with a standard clasp. That makes it highly wearable, durable, weather-resistant and more.

Casio’s new G-Shock has all the hallmarks that have made it one of the most beloved names in watchmaking

There’s that rugged, near-indestructible construction (of course); 200 meters of water resistance; and a square case based off the original design from the 1980s.

Just one thing to clarify: it doesn’t actually go around your wrist.

Four Casio G-Shock digital watches in black, large black, yellow, and red with resin bands on a gray surface.
The new Nano DWN-5600 is based off the design of G-Shock’s original watch.
Casio

The Nano DWN-5600 looks and largely performs like your classic everyday G-Shock watch, only at one-tenth the size.

That’s because this tiny timepiece, available in three colors (black, yellow and red), is actually designed to fit around one’s finger.

The G-Shock Nano DWN-5600 is downsized by a factor of 10.
Casio

If that seems odd, it’s worth noting that the watch is just the latest timepiece to join a growing trend set forth by the Casio CRW-001-1JR, Timex x MM6 Maison Margiela and, more recently, Fossil’s collaboration with Nick Jonas.

That said, the G-Shock name, along with everything that comes with it, easily makes the Nano DWN-5600 the most capable watch in its class.

G-Shock claims that the Nano DWN-5600 is just as shock resistant as its full-size watches.

Those buttons aren’t just for show. The Nano DWN-5600 has a stopwatch and backlight, too.
Casio

It also has something none of those previous examples can top: a fully adjustable band that can go from 48mm to 82mm to accommodate different finger sizes.

Unlike other ring watches, the G-Shock Nano DWN-5600 features a fully adjustable band to fit a wider range of finger sizes.

Availability and pricing

The G-Shock Nano DWN-5600 is set for a November release. The product page on some of Casio’s European websites lists a retail price of 100 euros (about $116).

This Deceptively Robust, Exclusive Civivi EDC Knife Has No Business Being so Affordable

For instance, it has a 3.8-inch Nitro-V blade. While that material is on the more budget-friendly side of the spectrum, it’s still extremely hard-working. But more importantly, the compound grind on this blade is surprisingly premium.

The grind comes in two parts. The bulk of the edge is hollow-ground, which is great for deep, clean cuts. However, as it approaches the tip, it changes to a flat grind, which makes the tip — usually the weakest part of a blade — more robust and strong, aiding in piercing tasks and making it less likely to chip or break.

It’s also worth noting that, overall, the blade is thicker than other Civivi knives, which gives it greater strength and toughness.

Closed folding pocket knife with a light green textured handle and visible metal components.
The blade is thicker (and stronger) than typical Civivi knives, but the complex grind makes precision cuts still possible.
Blade HQ

Headbanger’s ball

Beyond the blade, there’s plenty more to love about this 8.73-inch cutting tool. For instance, it comes with two handle scale material choices: jade G-10 and green Micarta.

The knife also gets a liner lock, which is a classic mechanism, albeit one that helps keep the overall cost down. It also has a caged ceramic ball-bearing pivot and, on the more premium end, a milled titanium reversible pocket clip.

The Most Iconic EDC Knife’s Robust, Underrated Sibling Makes a Mesmerizing Comeback

That starts, most notably, with the blade steel. The blade measures 3.75 inches and still has its signature clip point shape, making it an outstanding all-around cutter, whether you need to perform long slices, tight precision work, piercing and whatever else.

However, while the standard model utilizes 420HC steel — a commonplace, albeit hard-working option — this one gets swapped for S35VN — a lauded, higher-end material more typically associated with premium pocket knives.

It’s a pretty significant upgrade, jumping up the material quality by a couple of magnitudes. Yet, it’s still a tough enough steel to remain useful in an outdoor setting without too much risk of damage.

The Richlite handle has one of the most mesmerizing patterns I’ve ever seen.
Buck Knives

Get a grip

While the steel swap is certainly noteworthy, especially to knife nerds such as myself, the more obvious eye-catcher of this release is its handle. Whereas the standard 101 had an ebony handle like its 110 sibling, this one sees it changed in a couple of major ways.

For starters, the wood is swapped for El Dorado Richlite, a type of paper-based resin composite (more commonly known as Micarta). This material is extremely tough, stable, resistant to extreme temperatures and chemicals, highly water-resistant and even lightweight.

Aera C-1 Chrono

One of the more unconventional chronographs to hit the market in recent days, the Aera C-1 Chrono takes its inspiration from the golden age of motoring. However, it also turns the whole category on its head by offering one of the most minimalist displays of any chronograph watch currently on the market — and it owes its styling largely to the dash gauges of classic cars, like Porsches and Jaguars. Even its reverse panda color scheme is a tilted take on a classic. With its beefy case and unique styling, it might be a bit divisive, but its Swiss-made automatic movement may win over some folks.

EMC Long Wheelbase Cabrio G-Wagen

Restomod expert Expedition Motor Company has added a LWB version of the droptop Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen to its lineup. Building on nearly a decade of expertise restoring the iconic Short Wheelbase (SWB) 250GD Wolf, the offering brings seating for up to eight, new seat designs and other refinements and the choice of proven powertrain options in a 275-horsepower diesel inline-six and a 430-horsepower LS3 V8.

House of Marley Soul Rebel

House of Marley’s Soul Rebel is an affordable all-in-one turntable that comes with built-in stereo speakers and an Audio-Technica AT3600L stylus. It has Bluetooth for streaming when you’re not listening to vinyl, as well as RCA and auxiliary outputs for hooking the turntable up to larger hi-fi systems. That said, the most interesting thing about the turntable is the built-in lighting beneath its plinth, which is designed to help set the mood while you’re listening to records.

Malbon x Curb Your Enthusiasm

Trendy golf outfitter Malbon has its latest pop culture partner in the classic HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm. On Curb, protagonist Larry David and his pals, like his manager Jeff — played by Jeff Garlin, who stars in Malbon’s new campaign — could frequently be found on the golf course. The collection includes a range of apparel featuring Larry’s catchphrase “Pretty, pretty, pretty good” and a logo inspired by his epic staredowns. There’s even a Curb-branded Remington Putter.

Viberg & David Coggins The Outsider III

Few writers have produced definitive volumes on both style and fly fishing, so David Coggins is uniquely qualified to design a chukka boot that is rugged enough to handle backcountry trails and sufficiently refined for ‘Jacket Required’ dinner parties. The Outsider III is the third installment in the ongoing partnership between the author and Viberg, a renowned Canadian shoemaker. It is made with a light brown bison calf suede from the C.F. Stead tannery and features a wide apron toe with a three-eyelet chukka upper, finished with a piped edge. The leather stack midsole is attached with a storm welt for superior water resistance. It sits atop a Lactae Hevea Sawdust outsole, which blends a crepe-like material with tiny wood shavings for stability and a beautiful texture.

District Vision x 66°North Tindur Down Jacket

Boutique running brand District Vision and premium outerwear brand 66°North have teamed on a high-performance winter running capsule collection, with the Tindur Down Jacket as the standout piece. This $1,000 running jacket’s high price point symbolizes its high-performance engineering, inspired by the custom 66°North suit worn by the first Icelander to summit the north face of Everest in 2013, and designed for severe Arctic conditions. Gore-Tex Labs Windstopper face fabric, paired with 800 fill-power goose down, provide maximum warmth-to-weight efficiency and protection. Additional technical features include a detachable hood, extended collar, water-repellent finish, and a microfiber-lined eyewear pouch. Additional pouches are sourced from 66°North’s fishing heritage, and bringing notable past logos back to life.

Luminox Introduces a Rugged Case Designed to Keep Up With Bear Grylls

A new material, ALUMI-NOX, makes its debut in the Survival Land Series 3710 and offers a lightweight, durable finish ready for any outdoor adventure.

Luminox is introducing a watch designed for ruggedness and performance: the aptly named Bear Grylls Survival Land 3710 Series. Inspired by the well-known outdoor adventurer, this watch marks the debut of ALUMI-NOX, a new aerospace-grade aluminum case material that pushes the brand’s reputation for durability into fresh territory.

Hard anodized for extra resilience, ALUMI-NOX offers the lightweight comfort and corrosion resistance of aluminum, with a refined finish that stands up to the rigors of the outdoors. This latest innovation builds on Luminox’s legacy of using advanced materials like CARBONOX™️, the ultra-tough, ultra-lightweight signature case favored for military use and in extreme conditions. While CARBONOX™️ is rugged and tactical by design, ALUMI-NOX brings a sleeker, more versatile look without compromising toughness — making it equally at home on the trail or in everyday wear.

The 43mm watch comes equipped with 100 meters of water resistance, a screw-in crown, and a sapphire crystal for added protection. Luminox Light Technology guarantees readability in any environment, while a rubber strap and Bear Grylls’ “NEVER GIVE UP” motto engraved on the case back drive home its mission-ready ethos. With the 3710 Series, Luminox proves that innovation in materials isn’t just about performance, it’s about expanding where and how a survival watch can be worn.

A Watch with This High-End Feature Shouldn’t Be Anywhere Near This Cheap

I saw a whole lot of very cool watches this past weekend in Manhattan at the dueling watch shows of Windup Watch Fair and WatchTime New York.

Most came from the usual suspects, but one of the coolest — and almost certainly the most surprising — was the Annum from Haim. Haim is a Chicago-based microbrand that was founded in 2020, but the brand didn’t cross my radar until last year.

That was when I covered the Viajero, Haim’s dynamite-looking sub-$1,000 worldtimer. The watch was notable for incorporating a complication normally associated with haute horology pieces at a seriously affordable price.

But the Viajero isn’t the only affordable worldtimer on the market, so while notable, it wasn’t necessarily groundbreaking. The new Haim Annum, though? Well, that’s another story.

Three wristwatches with silver cases, blue and white dials, moon phase indicators, and textured leather straps in blue and gray on a wooden surface.
Well, what do we have here?

Mark your calendars

In watchmaking, there are multiple levels of calendar complications. The most basic is your simple date function. Next is a day-date, which displays both the day of the week and the numerical day of the month.

Triple-date calendars, also called complete calendars, up the ante a bit more, incorporating the month, as well. It’s also common, but not necessary, for calendar watches at and above the triple-calendar level to also track the phases of the moon.

Civivi Elevates the Superlock to New Heights with a Surprisingly Premium EDC Knife

For starters, this version has Lexan handle scales. For those unfamiliar, Lexan is a type of polycarbonate, more commonly known as bulletproof glass. That makes it exceptionally durable, stable, lightweight and resistant to extreme temperatures and chemicals.

Arguably more significant, however, is the blade. Not only does this take on the Vision FG have a uniquely machined handle — made to resemble hand-hammered steel, as is often found in Japanese knifemaking — but it also gets a big upgrade to S35VN steel.

That’s a significant boost for a knife that typically comes with Nitro-V. And the stylistic flair isn’t half bad, either.

This particular configuration gets S35VN steel, a more premium option than is typically found on Civivi knives.

Lock picked

While the handle material has been swapped, most of what was already on this knife remains, which is a very good thing in this case. That includes its reversible pocket clip.

Pair that with its thumb studs on the blade for manual deployment and the locking mechanism, and you’ve got yourself an ambidextrous beauty. Operational convenience aside, the significance of that lock bears repeating.

Did Kith and Tumi Just Drop the Dopest Travel Bag Collection of the Year?

However, the collection also includes an extra-large Rolling Trunk in Silver, an Extended Trip Packing Case in Black and a Short Trip Packing Case in Pewter (a champagne gold).

There are also a handful of Kith-branded hard-sided accessory cases, including an iPhone case, Sunglasses Case, Watch Travel Case and Cigar Case (a bona fide humidor). There’s even a Kith-monogrammed international travel adapter (the most affordable item in the collection).

The new leather bags include a duffle (above), backpack, tote and crossbody bag, all embossed with Kith’s logo pattern.

This collaborative revival also sees some new pieces added to the collection. Crucially, all of the new bags are soft-sided, made from premium leather, as opposed to hard-sided aluminum.

All four bags feature the same colorway: Stadium (Kith’s signature dark green) with gold hardware. Furthermore, the premium leather is embossed with Kith’s monogram pattern, just like the hard-sided bags and accessories.

Hibiki 30 Years Old Artist Collaboration with Hiroshi Senju

When it comes to whisky, Suntory is no stranger to rare, sought-after expressions. But the brand’s latest, a 30-year-old spirit crafted in collaboration with artist Hirposhi Senju, is among its finest (at least in recent months). It’s encased in a traditional byōbu-style display with multi-panel screens, and it comes with a reflective base, an etched Hibiki emblem, and a waterfall wrap at the neck of the crystal bottle. And that’s to say nothing of the exceptional Mizunara oak-aged elixir within, which boasts rich notes of cinnamon, brown sugar, dried fig, gingerbread and apricot jam. Even at its high price, it’s sure to be a bottle that’s hard to get.

Assouline

Air Jordan Classic Coffee Table Book

Assouline gives the world’s most iconic sneaker the book it deserves. The 360-page volume contains 438 images and a forward written by His Airness, Mr. Michael Jordan. It details the entire 40-year history of Nike’s Air Jordan sneaker line and the industry that has spawned around it, as well as covering highlights from Jordan’s unparalleled career. The Classic version is a hardcover measuring 10 inches wide by 13 inches tall, and there is a $2,300 Ultimate edition that comes in an embossed leather case with a set of Air Jordan-branded merchandise.

This retro Game Boy dupe comes pre-loaded with 300 vintage games, making it a pretty exceptional handheld console, especially for those with a love for old-school gaming. However, that isn’t even the best part about it. Along with being a fully functional standalone handheld, it’s also a 5,000 mAh MagSafe battery pack, meaning you can stick it to the back of your iPhone to add some extra juice. But here’s the real kicker: you can still play the games while it’s charging.

KÜHL Defiant Series

Salt Lake City-based outdoor stalwart KÜHL schusses into a new frontier with collaborative design input from free ski legend Glen Plake, resulting in high-performance men’s and women’s snow sports kits promising the brand’s trademark trio of technical materials, toughness and fit. The Defiant Shell boasts 20K/20K breathable, waterproof protection and stretch plus a sculpted hood with reinforced brim and glove-friendly pit zips for dumping heat. The Defiant Bib features similar fabric, a comfort-boosting, parachute-inspired suspender system and large inner and outer thigh vents to help you stay cool during uphill missions in the backcountry.

Samsung Galaxy XR

Samsung and Google teamed up to create the Galaxy XR, a mixed reality headset that is designed to work similarly to Apple’s Vision Pro, but be significantly lighter and more affordable — in fact, starting at $1800, it’s almost half the price. The headset features 4K micro-OLED screens, a number of high-resolution cameras for face and eye tracking, and runs on the Android XR platform, which was developed by both brands. And, just like the Vision Pro, the headset can be used to navigate the real world (with its integration with Google Maps), watch movies and shows, experience live sporting events from afar, and capture and experience immersive spatial photos and videos.

Zenith Defy Skyline Tourbillon Rose Gold

Zenith continues its 160th birthday celebrations with this rose gold version of the Defy Skyline Tourbillon. While the case and bracelet in 18ct rose gold are obviously stunning — and a first for the model — what is perhaps most interesting about the watch is the brick red dial and matching rubber strap, the color of which was inspired by the iconic bricks on the exterior of the brand’s manufacture located in Le Locle, Switzerland.

Nomad Stratos Band

Nomad’s Stratos is the brand’s most premium Apple Watch strap to date. It’s the only hybrid Apple Watch band with Grade 4 titanium links and an FKM rubber interior, giving it a premium look while feeling more flexible and sporty. As far as color options, you can pick between silver or carbide for the titanium, and black, volt (electric yellow) or ultra orange for the FKM rubber. It’s designed to fit any Apple Watch Ultra and comes with a tool for adding and removing links.

The Best Bargain in Pilot’s Watches Now Looks Better Than Ever

Last December, Los Angeles-based microbrand Nodus released its updated pilot’s watch, the Sector II Pilot. At the time, I lauded the $500 tool watch for its tremendous value.

Its combination of attractiveness, toughness, great specs and top-notch engineering left basically nothing to be desired at its price point, and I can’t think of a single pilot’s watch on the market that offers more bang for your buck.

Now, Nodus is back with a new take on the Sector II Pilot, one featuring a fully blacked-out DLC-coated case, bezel and bracelet. And while the price has gone up slightly, this is easily my favorite version of the watch yet.

Black metal wristwatch with luminous white hands, green second hand, and day-date display on textured black dial.
Nodus’s excellent affordable pilot’s watch is in its stealthy era.
Nodus

Dark and stormy

The Sector II Pilot DLC is exactly what it sounds like: a Sector II Pilot with black diamond-like carbon coating covering both the stainless steel case and five-row Pentalink bracelet. The coating not only gives the watch an uber-cool, stealthy look, but it also adds considerable resistance to scratches. Remember, this stuff is “diamond-like” in its hardness.

The DLC finish has been blasted for a fully matte finish, upping the stealthiness of the watch. The Sector II’s complex stepped dial also gets a mostly blacked-out makeover, with a black rehaut for the minute track, a circular-brushed black hour track and a black grain-textured inner dial displaying the watch’s eponymous “sector” crosshair pattern. The day and date windows above 6:00 both show black discs with white text, matching the layout of the rest of the dial.
