The Coolest James Bond Watch You’ve Never Heard of Has Quietly Returned

A Secret Bond Watch Returns

While the Tissot PR-516 will never have as strong of a connection to James Bond as an Omega Seamaster or Rolex Submariner, the affordable dive watch was still worn by 007 in a movie, and that makes it a Bond watch in my book.

Recently, with zero fanfare, Tissot effectively remade the PR-516 from Live and Let Die. The new model, the Tissot PR516 Powermatic 80, bears a strong resemblance to the original diver with its fully-marked bezel, identical handset, old-school case shape, lack of crown guards, and bright red seconds hand.

a tissot pr516 watch
While there are a few differences, the design of the new PR516 is clearly based on the vintage PR-516 worn by 007.
Tissot

There are differences too, of course. The finishing is a touch fancier, with a polished chamfer added along the flanks of the case and brushed instead of polished sides. The case is also slightly larger, increasing in size from 36mm to 38mm. The watch keeps the date window at 3 o’clock, but it’s now color-matched to the dial.

The crystal has been changed from acrylic to sapphire, and the caseback now boasts a sapphire display window. The bezel insert has been swapped from bakelite to mineral glass, and it’s no longer lumed. Furthermore, the new bezel is fixed — the original had a friction-fit, bidirectional bezel. That stat, combined with a 100m water resistance rating, prevents the new PR516 from technically being classified as a dive watch.

The Original Dive Watch Goes All-In on an Ultratough Material

Back in June, Blancpain launched the first-ever all-ceramic version of a Fifty Fathoms diver.

The ultramodern, ultratough take on the original dive watch took the ceramic Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe — which already existed — and added a new full-ceramic bracelet. To celebrate the launch, the brand also debuted an all-new ceramic Bathyscaphe featuring complete calendar and moonphase complications.

While it’s only been a few months since Blancpain debuted what is arguably the best ceramic bracelet in the business, its success is plain as day, as evidenced by the fact that the world’s oldest extant watch brand has just expanded its ceramic Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe line by 50 percent.

Blancpain is doubling down on its use of ceramic in the Bathyscaphe line with three new models.

Dial It Up

Prior to today’s expansion, the brand made ceramic Bathyscaphes in the aforementioned complete calendar guise with a black, green or blue dial, along with a flyback chronograph version with a green or black dial. The most affordable iteration of the Bathyscaphe in ceramic — the time-and-date model — was only available with a black dial.

But now, Blancpain is giving you more options. The brand has added two more colorways for the basic three-hand Bathyscaphe in ceramic, as it now matches the complete calendar with green and blue dials. Both new dial colors feature a sunray finish and look spectacular when contrasted with their matte black ceramic cases.

This Classy Dress Watch Has a Hidden ’90s-Inspired Detail

Although it was first created as a sports watch for polo players in the 1930s, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso has morphed to become what is arguably the most versatile dress watch on the market.

Thanks to its trademark rotating case design, the Reverso is able to feature multiple looks in the same watch. Some Reversos keep the formula very simple, like the recent Reverso Tribute Monoface, while others are among the most complicated watches in the world, such as the four-faced Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 Quadriptyque from 2021.

The newest Reverso falls somewhere in between. On one side, it’s a simple two-hander and among the classiest dress watches you’ll ever see. But flip the case over, and you’re treated to a complex open-worked chronograph with a surprising 1990s inspiration.

All That Glitters

JLC really piled on the gold for its latest release. Not only is the 49.4 x 29.9mm case of the new Reverso is made of solid 18k pink gold, but so is the dial, which has been laser engraved with horizontal lines to visually continue the pattern of the case’s trademark gadroons.

The applied indices on the dial are also in solid pink gold, as are the pin buckles on both of the included leather straps. Even the bridges of the in-house movement are made of solid 18k pink gold, and they’ve been hand-beveled and given a Côtes de
Genève finish as well.

Virtually everything on the watch is gold, which is why JLC refers to this type of treatment as “full gold” rather than just “gold.”

Exclusive: Timex & The James Brand Are Back with a New Automatic GMT Watch

Back in May of this year, Timex launched what is arguably its best watch ever. The affordable watch brand teamed up with stylish EDC favorite The James Brand to craft a brand-new GMT model that wasn’t based on any existing watch in Timex’s vast catalog.

The watch boasted a case and bracelet made of lightweight titanium, a 200-meter water resistance rating and the acclaimed Miyota 9075 automatic “true” GMT movement. It also looked cool as hell, with The James Brand giving the watch the same sleek and modern aesthetic the brand routinely applies to its pocket knives and other EDC gear.

Best of all, the watch was priced at just $750, making it perhaps the best GMT watch on the market at its price point. Unsurprisingly, it sold out in a flash, but in a Gear Patrol exclusive, I can report that the Timex x The James Brand Titanium Automatic GMT is coming back in a brand-new colorway.

Timex

Emerald Edition

If you missed out on the new Timex x The James Brand Titanium Automatic GMT the first time around, then today is your lucky day. The new collab between the two brands is the exact same watch as before, just in a different color.

That means you’re still getting the 41mm titanium barrel-shaped case, the bi-directional bezel, the quick-release titanium bracelet and resin strap, the AR-coated sapphire crystal, the Super-LumiNova lume, the sapphire display caseback with The James Brand logo … you get the idea.

Is This Shoe the Sneaker World’s Next Yeezy?

The 3XL sneaker’s basic design, initially promoted via a dedicated campaign back in August of this year, is also very on-trend. The sole is chunky and extended. The upper appears athletic, but not aggressively so in a running shoe way.

A pair also starts at $1,190. As absurd as that sounds to many, it does add to the sneaker’s cache as a flex of wealth, assuming the right trendsetters approve.

But unlike the standard color options in the line that seem heavily inspired by the trademark styles of other sneaker brands like Asics and New Balance, the technically patterned knit uppers of this special collaborative edition look much closer to another much-hyped sneaker – the original Yeezy Boost 350.

But It’s Also Made By Under Armour

Balenciaga’s creative director has a well-established track record of partnering with seemingly mundane and generic brands with no connection to the high-fashion world.

Under Armour certainly knows how to make sneakers, even if the brand’s footwear isn’t as widely known as others. Steph Curry, the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers, four-time NBA champion, and two-time league MVP, wears his own line of Under Armour sneakers on the court exclusively.

Xiaomi’s Flagship Mi 15 Pro To Hit International Markets Soon

With Huawei still out of the picture due to the ongoing trade ban, other Chinese Android OEMs are now in a favorable position to compete against tech titans Apple and Samsung. For years Xiaomi has been releasing stellar flagship units, but some don’t make it to international markets. However, the Mi 15 Pro might be an exception as it promises the “best in-hand feel” and high-end specifications.

For years, tech industry pundits have been criticizing Apple for sticking with a flat display while its rivals are sporting aggressively curved panels. To the surprise of many, most premium and mid-range Android models are now gradually ditching the curves. It’s great to see Xiaomi follow the trend with the Mi 15 Pro’s 6.73″ LTPO AMOLED’s shatterproof glass.

The handset is also rocking a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (SM8750-AB). RAM sizes range from 12 GB to 16 GB, and internal storage starts at 256 GB and peaks at 1 TB (USF 4.0). No titanium here as the frame uses aluminum. Standard colors include White, Green, and Gray. A special Liquid Silver Edition is likewise available with a mesmerizing back panel texture.

According to the manufacturer, “The telephoto lens shares the same Sony IMX858 sensor as Xiaomi 14 Ultra. It features a periscope structure with an effective focal length of 120mm, delivering powerful zoom and intense image capabilities. It achieves 10x lossless zoom using high-pixel readout mode, extending focal range to 240mm.”

For primary photography, Xiaomi partners with LEICA once again for the lenses of its three shooters. Its ceramic camera deco module holds a 50-megapixel wide-angle, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle. Elsewhere, a front-facing 32-megapixel wide-angle unit handles video calls and selfies.

Todd Snyder Classes Up One of Timex’s Best Affordable Watches

Dial text has been kept to a minimum in line with vintage styles, with only the words “Timex” and “Water Resistant” appearing at 12 and 6, respectively. There’s also a full minute track in white, marked with a number every five minutes — an unusual detail for a dress watch that provides a touch of sportiness.

a todd snyder x timex marlin watch against a gradient red background
The only Todd Snyder branding on the watch appears printed on the display caseback.
Timex

The black leather strap has been given a crocodile pattern, another luxury-inspired touch, and it sports a matching gold-tone pin buckle. Finally, a display caseback gives a full view of the Japan-made Miyota automatic movement powering the watch, along with some subtle Todd Snyder branding.

Pricing and Availability

Unlike most of what you’ll find on Todd Snyder’s site, the designer’s Timex collabs are always priced like, well, Timexes, avoiding the luxury price tag of typical Todd Snyder products even though they sport the same high-end styling. The Black Marlin is priced very reasonably at just $279, keeping it in line with other examples of the Timex Marlin Automatic.

I have to say, this watch does look awfully good. Is anyone going to mistake it for a solid gold watch on a real crocodile leather strap? No, at least not up close. But it still looks fantastic, and it’s pretty damn hard to beat for an automatic dress watch costing under $300.

Leatherman’s Best Multi-Tools Just Got a Rare Price Drop

There’s a reason why the Leatherman name is synonymous with the entire multi-tool category, at least in America. Tim Leatherman’s (yes, that’s his real name) original Pocket Survival Tool, introduced in 1983, was, at minimum, the first to popularize designs that included a larger set of needle-nosed pliers. And even today, over 40 years later, the brand still makes some of the best multi-tools on the market.

But if you’ve never owned one, now might be the time to hop aboard the bandwagon or pick up a gift for someone you know. While prices for multi-tools have been heavily impacted by inflation over the last few years, Leatherman is currently selling many of its popular multi-tools – including the best-in-class Wave+ 18—for low prices we haven’t seen in years in some cases.

Here are the biggest discounts we spotted on Leatherman’s own site as well as Amazon and REI.

Is Toyota’s New Land Cruiser Concept Secretly a Preview of the Next FJ Cruiser?

The Next FJ Cruiser?

Toyota has of course already had a modern attempt at recapturing the fun of those mid-century FJ Land Cruisers with the FJ Cruiser. The vehicle’s design took direct inspiration from the FJ40, but the result ultimately ended up being a fun-house-mirrored simulacrum that was highly polarizing, though still a blast to drive.

The brand hasn’t sold an FJ Cruiser in the U.S. since the 2014 model year, and two years ago the model was finally discontinued globally, so it’s entirely possible the new ROX concept is actually what the next generation of FJ Cruiser could look like. We already know that Toyota is planning a smaller Land Cruiser, possibly called the Land Cruiser FJ. Might this be it?

the toyota land cruiser rox concept suv perched on a hill at sunrise
Could the next Toyota FJ Cruiser look something like this?
Toyota

If this is the next FJ Cruiser or the Land Cruiser FJ, Toyota certainly isn’t framing it that way. In the press release for the Land Cruiser ROX, the brand — which leaned on Michigan’s Calty Design Research for the concept’s design — mostly makes it seem as if they simply created the concept for fun.

But there is one quote from Mike Tripp, the group vice president of Toyota Motor North America’s Toyota Division Marketing, that makes it seem like Toyota will be closely eyeing the public’s response to the new concept.

5 Beautiful All-in-One Wireless Speakers for Simple Hi-Fi Sound

Streaming is undoubtedly king — it makes up around 84 percent of all music revenue in 2024 — and that’s a big reason why multi-room wireless speakers, made by the likes of Sonos or Bose, are so popular today. You can grab your phone, open your preferred music streaming app and play basically any song you want in your home. It’s a beautiful thing.

But streaming isn’t everything. And while traditional hi-fi components (and physical media formats like vinyl and CDs) are making a comeback, several legacy audio companies are finding innovative new ways of blending with old-school and new-school audio.

Take the all-in-one wireless speaker as a prime example.

Naim Audio Mu-So 2 wireless speaker
Naim Audio’s Mu-So 2 is an all-in-one wireless speaker with a modern design and one of the coolest volume knobs you’ll find on any speaker.
Naim Audio

It’s a one-box, plug-and-play solution for all your audio needs. It’s a powered active speaker system with analog connections and support for high-resolution streaming over Wi-Fi. You can integrate it into an existing hi-fi system, hook it up to your TV or turntable, or stream music from your smartphone.

Essentially, an all-in-one wireless speaker is an elevated, more versatile Sonos speaker. And some of the most revered traditional hi-fi makers are jumping in on the action.

From a bunch of vintage-inspired amplifiers and loudspeakers, Sonos’s best-ever soundbar, a new portable speaker by Bose, and several audiophile turntables — there’s been a lot to keep track of.

Below, we’ve rounded up the coolest new hi-fi and audio gear announced since the school year started.

The idea is that when VPI releases new models in its Forever series, you can upgrade this Model One with newer components.

The legendary British hi-fi maker revealed the latest addition to its Heritage Series. The Super Linton are modern versions of its 1975-released Linton loudspeakers — and updated versions of its 2019-released Linton heritage loudspeakers — featuring updated drivers, a dual-layer cabinet and a new crossover design. The result is a legendary vintage-looking speaker that promises vastly improved sound.

Pro-Ject The Classic Reference

Pro-Ject The Classic Reference

Like the rest of Pro-Ject’s Classic line, The Classic Reference blends modern technologies with retro designs reminiscent of the 1960s and 70s. The difference is that the Austrian hi-fi maker decked this special-edition model with higher-quality components for an elevated look and sound. According to the brand, you can think of it as a “supremely upgraded” version of its Classic Evo ($1,999).

Ruark R-CD100 CD Player

Ruark Audio R-CD100 CD playerRuark Audio

Ruark R-CD100 CD Player

Despite the name, the Ruark R-CD100 is more of a CD transport than a CD player. It lacks a built-in DAC and thus needs to be connected to a modern audio component. The British hi-fi recommends pairing it with its other Series 100 components, such as its R410 all-in-one speaker or R610 streaming amplifier, as they have the same vintage aesthetic.

Marantz Grand Horizon and Horizon

Marantz Grand Horizon and Horizon

The Horizon and larger Grand Horizon are Marantz’s first-ever wireless speakers (and its first speakers in decades). Each speaker has a flat, spherical design that consists of high-frequency and midrange drive units and a central subwoofer. The Sonos Arc Ultra is the company’s new flagship Dolby Atmos soundbar. It’s essentially an upgraded version of the Arc, with more drivers (14 compared to the Arc’s 11) and a new woofer that harnesses “Sound Motion” transducer technology. Sonos claims that the Arc Ultra delivers double the bass, improved dialogue (thanks to an improved center channel) and a more immersive 9.1.4 surround sound. At $999, it’s $100 more expensive than the Arc.

Bose SoundLink Home Portable SpeakerBose

Bose SoundLink Home Bluetooth Speaker

The Bose SoundLink Home is the company’s newest portable Bluetooth speaker. Unlike Bose, this new speaker has a distinctly old-school look thanks to a metal body and fabric grille. It lacks any app compatibility, so it should be straightforward to use. That said, it doesn’t have a water-resistance rating and is meant predominantly to be listened to indoors.

Yeti Just Quietly Released One Its Most Useful Products Yet

I’m no subject matter expert on food storage, but I’ve got to believe that 2024 will go down as one of the most momentous years in the product category’s history.

On one hand, you have the death of the industry’s category-defining brand—Tupperware, which officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September.

On the other hand, Yeti, initially known for making elite coolers of all shapes and sizes, has now also entered the market.

Yeti’s Kept Its Food Storage Launch Low-Key

A large, medium and two small Yeti food storage containers shown stacked and nested together being held by a pair of hands. The food storage set is resting on top of a navy blue Yeti cooler that appears to be resting on a blurred gravely campsite.
The launch of the Yeti Food Storage line was relatively quiet by the brand’s standards. Instead of sending out press releases, posts were shared announcing the new collection on social media platforms like Instagram.
Yeti

The new Food Storage line appears to be the finishing touch to a very ambitious year of product line expansion for the Austin, Texas-based company. It joins the brand’s first-ever French Press and flask, its first collection of cast-iron skillets, and its most affordable hard cooler yet.

To Yeti’s credit, the brand isn’t overplaying the importance of launching its take on Tupperware. The new food storage collection was revealed quietly by the brand’s standards.

For example, we didn’t receive any proactive outreach from the brand about the launch, and it doesn’t appear many other media outlets did either. Instead, the company opted to reveal the line via various social media feed posts late last week.

This Wild, Tiny $35 Knife Is Bursting with History and EDC Functionality

Boasting karambit heritage and a unique form factor, the new Civivi Pyrus is one sharp conversation piece.

It’s easy to say utility knives are a dime a dozen. Then something really different — like Rivery MFG’s Zero-6061 or The James Brand’s The Palmer Clear — crosses your path and leaves you thinking twice.

The day after Halloween, it’s perhaps fitting to examine an item that so clearly resembles the Grim Reaper’s scythe. And yet it’s important to remember that the practical human use is not so much harvesting souls as it is the agriculture-related tasks of threshing and clearing brush.

That’s exactly what’s happening right now as we behold a funky new offering from Polish knife designer Ostap Hel and Chinese knife manufacturer Civivi: the Pyrus. Because wtf, amiright??

civivi pyrus reveal
Witness the Pryus in all its tiny glory.

Blade back story

Before we get into what this new knife can do, let’s examine where it came from. Knife nerds will likely recognize the blade shape as a karambit, which probably last made GP headlines with the launch of CRKT’s innovatively deployed Provoke.

While this type of blade is typically associated with the fighting knife category — particularly the Filipino martial arts of Arnis, Kali and Eskrima — its history goes back much further. The image below might help with explicating it.

civivi pyrus thresh
Half-deployed as it is here, the Pryus gives off major scythe vibes.
Civivi

The day after Halloween, it’s perhaps fitting to examine an item that so clearly resembles the Grim Reaper’s scythe. And yet in this moment it’s important to remember that the practical human use is not so much harvesting souls as it is the agriculture-related tasks of threshing and clearing brush.

But talk about history: the Internet tells us scythes may date back as far as 5,000 B.C., as used in Cucuteni–Trypillia culture.

Uncommon utility

Fast forward to today and what we have here is not exactly an indispensable farming tool. After all, the 14C28N hawkbill blade measures just 0.65 inches long.

However, when it comes to common household tasks like opening letters, cutting through packing tape and removing tags from clothing, this handy lil’ ‘bit is really all you need.

civivi pyrus cool angle
Yes, that adorable little pocket clip is reversible.
Civivi

Adding to the charm is the way it operates. Slide your finger through the hole, use your thumb to flick open the slip-joint blade and you’re good to go. The G10 (or carbon fiber) scales add some class to the proceedings, and in an almost comical touch, the ring-shaped wire pocket clip is reversible.

The surprising usefulness of this tiny knife, however, is no laughing matter.

Availability and pricing

The black G10-handled Civivi Pyrus shown here is coming soon (we are confirming the actual release date with a brand rep, stay tuned) for $35. A similar skew with a burgundy G10 handle will also cost $35, while a carbon fiber-handled version will go for $47.

This High-End Brand’s Coolest Watch Is Also Its Most Affordable By Far

What’s more, Girard-Perregaux watches are expensive. The brand’s average watch retails for $15,500, and outside of the sub-$500 Casquette, GP sells just one other watch below $10,000: The 1966 dress watch in stainless steel, which starts at $9,100.

For less than $5,000, you’re getting a full titanium case and bracelet with solid gold accents, all finished to GP’s typical premium standard.
Girard-Perregaux

So for about half the price of the brand’s next cheapest watch and for less than a third of the cost of their average watch, you’re still getting a true Girard-Perregaux watch with the brand’s trademark luxury-level fit and finish, an in-house calibre, and even some precious metal to boot. The new Casquette is a bargain no matter how you slice it.

The Cool Factor

OK, so the Casquette 2.0 is very affordable for a Girard-Perregaux watch, but is it really the brand’s coolest watch? Well, that’s subjective, but I will say that the wearing experience and overall vibe of this watch is something special.

First of all, the way it looks is hard not to love. If you’re a fan of retro-futurism like I am, then you’ll likely find the Casquette’s sleek, streamlined, sci-fi shape pretty alluring. I also like the use of gray titanium for the case and bracelet this time around, as it gives the watch more of a high-end look than before.

One of the Hottest Trends in Watches Has Finally Popped Up on a Dive Watch

Just like anything else in the fashion industry, watches are susceptible to trends. (Let’s not kid ourselves; watches are a fashion accessory whether we like to admit it or not.)

One of the hottest trends this year has been the use of stone dials. We saw an uptick in these exotic dials last year among luxury brands, with Rolex, Audemars Piguet and Girard-Perregaux all getting in on the action. This year, the trend has trickled down to more affordable offerings from smaller brands like Baltic and Nivada.

I don’t recall ever seeing a brand use natural stone dials in a dive watch before, but that’s what Zodiac has done with a pair of new Super Sea Wolf Compression Divers.

You can now get a Zodiac Sea Wolf with a real lapis lazuli stone dial.

Stone-Cold Foxes Wolves

Zodiac has added stone dials to its tried-and-true Super Sea Wolf Compression Diver in two new variants. One is in plain stainless steel and features a blue lapis lazuli dial, while the other features a green malachite dial paired with a black DLC-coated steel case and bracelet.

So why stone dials? Well, there are a few factors that have made the exotic material so en vogue. First and foremost, they’re quite beautiful, offering brilliant colors and unique patterns. Secondly, stone is a natural material, and certain consumers will always be drawn to natural objects (think gold, leather, etc.). Finally, because the dials are made from slabs of natural stone, no two are alike, meaning every stone-dial watch is inherently unique.

This Is the Kit You Need for Fall and Winter Riding

Fox Racing’s new Lunar Collection shines when the days get shorter and the temps start to drop.

Welcome to Talking Points, a series that looks at what makes certain products worth talking about, brought to you by Gear Patrol Studios.

It could be argued that fall is the ultimate mountain biking season.

After a summer full of big rides, you’re likely in the best shape of the year. Autumn showers and cooler temps transform dusty trails into ribbons of brown pow. But the changing season also presents some challenges, like shorter days and colder temps.

Fox Racing’s new Lunar Collection was designed to meet those challenges and help you maximize your time on dirt this fall. Here’s everything you need to know about this fresh seasonal drop.

The Lunar Collection: Where day meets night

Fall riding is won in the margins. That means dawn patrol rides that start before the sun rises and late afternoon spins that end in the dark. Or facing weather conditions that can feel like summer and winter, all in the course of a single ride.

Designed to tackle both the time and temperature shifts the season brings, this collection can help you maximize every second on dirt with reflective features for nighttime visibility and technical performance that works on and off the bike.

The Lunar Collection spans the full range of riding apparel and accessorize, from helmets and gloves to socks, jerseys, and pants.

Our favorites from the Lunar Collection

If we had to pick just three pieces from this collection, our cart would consist of the Speedframe Pro Lunar Helmet, Ranger Lunar Drirelease® Mid-Long Sleeve Jersey, and Ranger Pant.

Everything you love about the standard Speedframe Pro with added reflective details for nighttime visibility. This MIPS-equipped lid is as safe as they come, earning a five-star rating from Virginia Tech. Plus, thanks to its 360-degree fit system, it’s mega comfortable to boot.

Also sporting reflective details for low-light visibility, this jersey provides technical performance on — and off — the bike. Its Drirelease yarns wick moisture and dry four times faster than cotton, and the full garment utilizes recycled fabrics.

Fox Racing Ranger Pant LunarFox Racing

Keeping with the Lunar line’s ethos, this special-edition Ranger Pant sports thoughtfully integrated reflectivity and provides plenty of performance, whether you’re pedaling or recappin your ride at the watering hole. The adjustable, cinch-and-snap waist closure provides a custom, easily adjustable fit while two zippered hand pockets stash everything you need for a ride.

Our POV: This is the kit for fall shredding

If the challenges that come with the changing season have historically kept you off the bike, take this as your sign to make this the year of fall riding. Decked out in a Lunar Collection, protected from the elements and visible during low-light rides, the only barriers you’ll need to overcome will be self-imposed.

This Affordable Everyday Watch Brings a High-End Hallmark to the Masses

We’re truly living in the Golden Age of independent watch brands. Whether you have a budget of $500 or $500,000, there is an indie brand out there with the perfect watch for your wrist.

For consumers, this immense level of choice is wonderful, but it can be a challenge for brands. After all, with so many boutique watch brands kicking around these days, how can an unknown brand get its name out there?

One way brands can stand out is to do something that no other watchmaker is doing. That’s the route French indie brand Awake took with its new collection, Son Mai, which brings a high-end watchmaking tradition to the masses via a very special dial technique.

Works of Art

Founded five years ago by Lilian Thibault, Awake is a French microbrand that, until now, has exclusively released limited-edition watches. Most have been quirky, and some have been collaborations with partners as varied as NASA and absurdist street artist Nicolas Barrome Forgues.

Now, Awake has launched its first permanent collection, and in doing so, it kind of swung for the fences. If you follow high-end watchmaking — and I’m talking the highest of the high here — then you may have come across the French term “Métiers d’Art.”
