Vollebak’s Graphene Jacket: Warm & Cool Weather Protection

The summer months mean keeping our body constantly cool, especially when working out a sweat in the gym or while being under the heat of the sun. Wearable air conditioners work wonders in cooling body temperature. But when it comes to apparel, Vollebak’s Graphene Jacket offers great thermoregulating performance, so you stay less hot and sweaty but also feel warm during sudden cold weather changes.

Wearing a jacket in the summer heat seems counterintuitive. But it helps to be ready in the off-chance of a downpour. This stylish wear boasts high thermal regulating properties that adapt to the surrounding temperature.

Vollebak’s Graphene Jacket uses graphene to efficiently store and redistribute heat during the cold months to keep you warm. But it is also highly breathable and reduces humidity next to your body. Lab tests show a consistently lower humidity level during every phase of exercise and recovery. This means, you feel less hot and sweaty.

The best part is it’s highly waterproof so you stay dry and comfortable in the rain. The jacket’s membrane is tightly packed to prevent drops of water from penetrating the material from the outside. But it allows sweat from your body to evaporate to keep you cool and comfortable.

Cold Steel’s Legendary Tactical Folder Has Never Looked Stealthier or More Minimalist

The only exception is the branding on the blade, which includes the Cold Steel and AD-10 logos, Demko’s signature, the blade steel, and the country of origin (Taiwan).

It’s the most minimalistic this knife has ever looked, and it really plays to its tactical history. For those who know everything looks better in black, this knife is for you.

Tip-to-tail upgrades

While the blacked-out finish helps set this version of the AD-10 apart — and might be enough for some — it does have some other pretty noteworthy upgrades.

For instance, the blade — usually S25VN steel — gets swapped for higher-end, tougher 3V steel. It’s still 3.5 inches with thumb studs, wide jimping (which extends to the handle) and the typical drop-point shape.

Buck’s Tiny, Affordable Knife Has Never Been More Tailor-Made to Your EDC

Buck’s 110 Folding Hunter is an EDC knife that needs no introduction. It might just be the most iconic pocket blade ever crafted. However, you might not know that it has a much smaller sibling that boasts all the same timeless styling at a fraction of the size.

Now, this tiny titan is getting some significant upgrades to its individuality and personalization. Buck has just launched the Customizable 55 Knife. Finally, this small pocket knife’s time to shine is upon us.

A bit about the Buck 55

As its name suggests, the Buck 55 is half the size of the 110, but that doesn’t mean it’s half the length. Standard or custom, it has a 2.36-inch blade instead of the 110’s 3.75-inch blade.

Apart from its size, it’s virtually identical to the 110. That includes its clip-point blade shape (with its signature nail nick), handle shape, back lock, matching bolsters, and so on.

It even has the same slipjoint mechanism — which isn’t quite a lock but is more secure than a free-swinging blade or friction folder. That means this minuscule cutting tool packs a lot of power into its relatively small frame.

8 New Headphones to Keep on Your Wishlist

Catching you up on the most notable headphone releases from the last month.

FiiO FT7 headphonesFiiO

Every product is carefully selected by our editors. If you buy from a link, we may earn a commission. Learn more

Over the last few weeks, some of the biggest names in hi-fi have announced new headphones — including Audio-Technica, Sennheiser, Grado, Focal and Meze Audio.

These headphones cover the board, ranging from models wireless noise-canceling to wired headphones aimed squarely at audiophiles (and, admittedly, will likely hold a permanent place on our wishlist).

Below, we’ve rounded up all the most interesting headphone releases you might have missed from the past month.

FiiO FT7 planar magnetic headphonesFiiO

FiiO FT7

The FiiO FT7 are flagship open-back planar magnetic headphones that the brand describes as “the pinnacle of the lessons learned and technology breakthroughs” in previous open-back cans. They feature 106mm planar magnetic drivers and standout zebrawood grilles. And at $800, they promise to be one of the more affordable planar magnetic cans on the market.

Sennheiser HD 505 open-back headphonesSennheiser

Sennheiser HD 505

The Sennheiser HD 505 is the most premium open-back headphones in the brand’s entry-level HD 500 series. They pack custom 120-ohm transducers capable of delivering sound with a wide frequency response (12 to 38,500 Hz) and a total harmonic distortion measurement of less than 0.2 percent. They are lightweight, weighing 237 grams, designed for long listening sessions. And at $280, they won’t make you break the bank.

Focal Bathys MGFocal

Focal Bathys MG

The Focal Bathys MG are even higher-end wireless noise-canceling headphones than the company’s 2022-released Bathys. They share the same basic design and many of the same features, but the French loudspeaker manufacturer upgraded them with even more luxurious materials (such as aluminum, magnesium and leather) and decked them out with upgraded M-shaped magnesium dome drivers — the same ones featured in its $1,699 Clear MG headphones. At $1,299, they’re twice as expensive as the Bathys and definitely one of the most expensive wireless ANC headphones you can buy.

Meze Audio Poet headphonesMeze Audio

Meze Audio Poet

The Meze Audio Poet are the Romanian hi-fi brand’s most affordable and compact pair of open-back planar magnetic headphones. They feature MZ6 Isodynamic Hybrid Array drivers — which the brand partnered with Rinaro Isodynamics, a Ukrainian audio company with over 30 years of planar magnetic experience, to create — that deliver an extremely high-resolution sound with ultra-low distortion (<0.05%). They also have a fully serviceable design, so if components get damaged or worn out over time, they can be replaced.

Sennheiser HD 550 headphonesSennheiser

Sennheiser HD 550

The Sennheiser HD 550 are affordable open-back headphones designed for budget-conscious audiophiles. They are similar to the German hi-fi maker’s HD 505 — they have a lightweight and modular design with large cushioned earcups — but they have custom 38mm transducers that deliver a fuller and wider sound with deeper bass. Because of this fact, Sennheiser is also marketing them to gamers who want elite sound quality (but don’t necessarily need a microphone). They cost $20 more than the brand’s HD 505.

Grado Signature S950 headphonesGrado

Grado Signature S950

The Grado Signature S950 are audiophile-grade open-back wired headphones from the famed Brooklyn-based hi-fi maker. They share much in common with the brand’s Signature HP100 SE, including the same 52mm drivers. Still, the Signature S950 features Brazilian walnut wooden housings instead of aluminum, which gives them a more stylish look and helps them deliver a more balanced sound.

Audio-Technica ATH-R70xa headphonesAudio-Technica

Audio-Technica R-Series (2025)

Audio-Technica has updated its R-Series of open-back headphones designed for musicians, sound engineers and other audio professionals. The Japanese audio brand has introduced the flagship ATH-R70xa, which are “enhanced” versions of its 2015-released ATH-R70x, as well as two more affordable models, the midrange ATH-R50x and entry-level ATH-R30x.

Focal Bathys in blackFocal

Focal Bathys (Deep Black)

Initially released in 2022, the Focal Bathys are the luxury French hi-fi manufacturer’s first (and only) pair of wireless noise-canceling headphones — they’re also one of the most expensive models you can buy. They have the same 40mm M-shaped dome drivers as in the company’s non-wireless closed-back headphones, the $999 Celestee, and deliver high-resolution sound. They also have a standout design with premium materials, such as magnesium, aluminum and genuine leather. As of 2025, Focal now offers them in a “Deep Black” finish.

Nike Victory Tour 4 golf shoesNike

Nike Victory Tour 4

Nike’s Victory Tour 4 is the company’s latest and greatest golf shoes for 2025. Designed to maximize both performance and comfort, they are integrated with the Flyplate technology, a carbon fiber plate that, according to the brand, “flexes while walking but stiffens during swings.” Ahead of the Masters, Nike has released the shoes in Photon Dust/Smokey Blue finish. They cost $190, but you can get them with BOA lacing system for an extra $30.

Crafted in collaboration with Bestcase, this brutalist three-piece desk organizer set is made from brake press-formed aluminum, making each piece exceptionally lightweight and sturdy. Ray-Ban Mega Balorama

The Mega Balorama is a modern revival of a Ray-Ban frame design from the 1960s. The wrap-around shape, first popularized in post-war LA Dolce Vita-era Italy, has been streamlined with curved edges. It is available in black, tortoiseshell, Havana stripe, transparent striped tan and semi-transparent striped gray.

Booker’s

Booker’s 2025 “Barry’s Batch” Bourbon

Booker’s first US release of the year is named in honor of Barry Berish — former Beam Chairman and CEO, 40-year veteran of the brand and close personal friend to the Booker family. This big and bold spirit boasts notes of vanilla and spices with a long, “delightful” finish. It’s also crafted from a blend of barrels across four production dates in five different warehouses. This 125.7-proof bourbon will surely be a fan favorite, so pick it up while you can.

Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra VacuumSamsung

Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra

The Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra is the company’s new cordless vacuum for 2025, and it’s essentially an upgraded version of Samsung’s 2023-released Bespoke AI Jet. The Ultra shares a similar design and some signature features but is more powerful; it has a suction power of up to 400W, which, according to the brand, makes it the “world’s most powerful cordless stick vacuum cleaner.” It also has a built-in LCD display that can show charging and battery stats, but, most interestingly, because it connects to your smartphone, it can tell you if you have incoming calls or texts … because we all know you can’t hear a phone call when vacuuming.

a pair of tan suede desert bootsCrockett & Jones

Crockett & Jones Bilbury Desert Suede

Crockett & Jones has made footwear by hand in Northampton, England, since 1879 and is one of the most respected shoemakers on the planet. The Bibury is a moc toe chukka, or desert, boot built on a wide toe last. This Desert Suede appears soft but is designed to take a beating and look all the better for it. Replacing the traditional gum outsole found on desert boots is the brand’s specially engineered rubber wedge sole, which offers the same bounce and traction without the stickiness that collects dirt and easily deteriorates.

Nike’s Rising Retro Sneaker Gets a Rugged Military-Inspired Makeover

A year ago, the Field General was little more than an obscure model tucked away in the Swoosh archive.

But a faithful rerelease, followed by a collaboration with Union LA, brought the spotlight back to Nike’s ’80-era football shoe worn by worn by NFL legends Archie Manning and Dan Fouts.

Since then, the Field General has surfaced a slew of sporty colorways, including various shades of blue and white. However, a new military-inspired makeover proves the shoe has only just started to discover its range.

Lock, stock and suede

The Nike Field General Light Army sees the model adopt a pale green upper reminiscent of battle-worn fatigue pants, made all the more novel by a full-suede construction (the original Field General combines suede with mesh) like a pair of roughout boots.

10 New Pocket Knives and Multi-Tools You Might Have Missed

This week’s releases were wide-ranging, including everything from a shrunken Tops machete to an ultra-high-end Kershaw redux.

If there’s one thing that can be said about the everyday carry and knife world, it’s that the release calendar is sometimes wholly unpredictable. This week’s releases were proof positive of that.

Like random shots at a dartboard, the end of March saw a swath of knife and tool drops across the whole spectrum of categories. Some of the big highlights included a drop-dead gorgeous pair of blades from GiantMouse, a shrink-rayed Tops machete, an utterly rustproof Terrain 365 flipper and perhaps the best, most affordable starter knife ever, courtesy of Knafs.

If you missed them earlier this week, you can check them all out (and more) below.

A knife doesn’t have to have a revolutionary silhouette to be exceptional, as We Knife’s Winsome is here to prove. While the knife’s shape is a riff on classic EDC folders, it does boast one extremely elegant improvement to its flipper deployment. By rounding off the deployment and adding jimping along it, it is more ergonomic and easier to use (with either a thumb or forefinger). Of course, the knife’s other mechanisms and materials are also exceptional.

Terrain 365 Narwhal knife on gray backgroundTerrain 365

Terrain 365 Narwhal-AT

The Narwhal-AT might be the ultimate expression of Terrain 365’s design ethos so far, at least as far as folding knives go. This gorgeous, minimalist folder has a sleek appearance so expertly rendered that you might not recognize just how robust and detailed it is. From its rustproof (and guaranteed for life) Terravantium Dendritic Cobalt blade to its titanium frame lock handle (and sneaky Hyperglow pivot collar), the Narwhal-AT is a masterpiece.

giantmouse gm13 embedGiantMouse

GiantMouse GM13

Designed by Jesper Voxnaes and the since-departed Jens Ansø, the latest GM collection knife boasts a 2.8-inch hawksbill blade made of S90V super steel, an orange peel titanium handle, a crossbar lock and reversible steel pocket clip. Production is limited to 400 units.

giantmouse gmp13 embedGiantMouse

GiantMouse GMP13

The mischievous brother of the GM13, the “pirate” edition also features a 2.8-inch S90V hawksbill blade, crossbar lock and reversible steel pocket clip. Made by Bestech like its bro, the GMP13 also boasts the brand’s first full zirconium handle. Production is limited to 200 units.

Knafs Lander 5 embedKnafs

Knafs Lander 5

In an effort to create the ultimate “first knife” — the all-around best starter knife — Knafs has redesigned its fan-favorite Lander series to fit the bill. Not only is this knife incredibly feature-packed — it has a frame lock, oversized thumb hole deployment, reversible deep carry pocket clip and more — but it’s also crazy-affordable and -accessible.

Civivi Sixgill on obsidian backgroundCivivi

Civivi Sixgill

Designed by Mike Gavac (also known as Gavko Knives), Civivi’s Sixgill is an impressively affordable knife jam-packed with premium features. That starts with its curvy, long-bellied reverse tanto blade, made with either Nitro-V or Damascus steel (depending on your chosen configuration). It also extends to the handle — crafted from G10, Micarta or Guibourtia wood — and its reliable, ambidextrous crossbar lock. That’s just the beginning, too. For a knife this affordable (even for the highest-end version), it’s impressively appointed.

crkt lck + liner lock embedCRKT

CRKT LCK + Liner Lock (3801KN)

A much more affordable take on the original $175 3801K edition of the LCK, this 2.8-ounce folder swaps S35VN blade steel for 14C28N and marbled carbon fiber handle scales for grippy denim blue G10. The knife still boasts Matthew Lerch’s excellent design, deploying the 3.38-inch drop-point blade via a back flipper swinging smoothly on an IKBS ball bearing pivot. The blade is held in place with a sturdy liner lock and sits low in your pocket thanks to a deep-carry pocket clip.

Tops Knives El Chete Mini on gray backgroundTops Knives

Tops Knives El Chete Mini

If you were to look solely at its silhouette and materials, you might wonder what’s different about this version of the El Chete. That’s because its built to virtually all the exact same specs as its original sibling, but for one major difference: this one is precisely half its sibling’s size. At 8.75 inches, that makes this version far more manageable and carry-friendly but without sacrificing any of its robustness.

Shinola x Kershaw Leek Petosky Stone Pocket KnifeShinola

Shinola x Kershaw Leek Petosky Stone Pocket Knife

A refined, exquisit riff on one of Ken Onion’s most iconic EDC knife designs, this Shinola take sees the presentation handle scale fitted with a luxurious Petosky stone inlay. The beautiful stone makes every example of this exclusive knife one-of-a-kind. Yet it still retains everything that made the original great, including its flipper deployment, frame lock and USA-made status.

Kizer Parakeet knife on gray backgroundKizer

Kizer Parakeet

At under 2.6 ounces and 5.9 inches in length, Kizer’s tiny Parakeet lives up to its name. However, this is more than just a small EDC knife. It also has some intriguing features, depending on your chosen configuration. For instance, the ones with acrylic and PEI handle scales are semi-transparent, letting you peer into the knife’s inner workings while helping keep the weight down (all without sacrificing durability and stability). The 2.48-inch Nitro-V sheepsfoot blade is also great for EDC usage, offering a good piercing point and a deceptively wide belly for all sorts of cutting tasks.

Kizer’s Tiny Ultralight EDC Knife Lets You Gaze into Its Inner Workings

It wasn’t always easy to find compact everyday carry knives, but these days, they seem as numerous as ever. That means new releases must offer something other than a small size to stay interesting.

Kizer’s Parakeet, for instance, is a well-appointed small EDC knife with a bevy of configurations available — all good things. But it also has a pair of exciting options with handle scales that let you peer into their nuts and bolts.

Five of the six Parakeet configurations have dropped, including two with transparent scales.
Kizer

Little package, big value

Designed by South African designer Johan Jordaan, the Parakeet’s five configurations share some similarities. For instance, they all feature a 2.46-inch sheepsfoot Nitro-V steel blade.

That blade steel is affordable, albeit respectable and hardworking. It pairs beautifully with the sheepsfoot (almost drop-point) shape, offering a great piercing point and a deceptively wide belly.

The blade also boasts a thumb hole deployment that mates to a trendy, reliable, and strong button lock. The lock is housed in a 3.41-inch handle with deeply machined grooves that offer a great grip.

Rolex Just Teased Its Biggest Watch Release in Years. Here Are My Three Takeaways

The first clip shows an escapement. Or, to put it more accurately, a natural escapement. Rolex recently filed a patent for a new type of natural escapement that features two escape wheels instead of one. Compared to a traditional Swiss lever escapement, which Rolex and most other brands currently use, a natural escapement is more efficient, more precise and requires no lubrication, extending service intervals.

The trouble with implementing them up to this point has been the difficulty in producing them at scale, which Rolex — the master of industrialization — seems to have figured out. The new movement appears to rely heavily on the use of Syloxi, Rolex’s patented silicon material used to make its hairsprings.

a closeup of a rolex watch hairspring
Rolex’s Syloxi material gets a shoutout in the teaser and will play a key role in the new escapement.
Rolex

The material gets a shoutout in the teaser, with its name appearing on a hairspring, and both escape wheels visible in the clip of the natural escapement appear to be made of the same material, with its blue-purple hue being a dead giveaway.

So why do I think this new escapement will debut in the integrated watch? Well, the new watch bears a strong resemblance to Rolex’s original integrated watch, the Oysterquartz. That model debuted in 1977 as Rolex’s first quartz watch, debuting what was then groundbreaking technology. With the Syloxi natural escapement representing another technological leap, it makes sense to give it a similarly themed home.

BMW Just Dropped a Dreamy Retro Adventure Moto, and It Is Shockingly Affordable

In 1981, Hubert Auriol brought home BMW’s first Paris-Dakar rally win — in the event’s second year — aboard an R 80 G/S. It was a stunning and unexpected victory, as the bike was considered too big and heavy to take down other lighter enduros of the time.

Now, 44 years, six championships and 48 stage wins later, the spirit of that original Dakar-winning bike returns in the 2026 BMW R 12 G/S. And guess what? This enduro adventure bike is just as stunning and fun as ever.

With its powerful 109-horsepower, 85 ft-lb torque, air/oil-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine, this beefy bike is ready for whatever you can throw at it. But it also has a swath of updates that make it more robust than ever before.

That includes a single-piece tubular spaceframe with a bolted rear frame, fully adjustable upside-down telescopic front forks and a Paralever rear swingarm with fully adjustable rear shocks. This is also the first-ever BMW off-road bike with the option for a beastly 18-inch rear wheel (part of the optional Enduro Package Pro).

According to Wittman Estes, most prefab houses are “divorced from context.” So the Seattle-based architecture firm designed just the opposite: the Puzzle Prefab, a modular housing solution that can be configured to specific site needs. The first expression of it, situated in Whidbey Island, WA, nestles into the surrounding landscape, with literally half of the floor plan defined as outdoor space. Pricing for the project cost around $600 per square foot, with more sites on the way throughout the Pacific Northwest.

My Favorite Rugged Sports Watch Just Got More Wearable

  • Norqain’s Wild One Skeleton has become the de facto flagship watch of the fledgling Swiss luxury brand
  • The watch has a complex case made from a proprietary carbon fiber composite with a rubber bumper, making it ideal for sports use
  • Previously only available in 42mm, Norqain has now launched a more versatile 39mm version

Generally speaking, the title “sports watch” isn’t meant to be taken literally. It implies a watch with a robust build intended for casual use, not one that’s actually built for athletic pursuits. Would you play a game of basketball while wearing a Royal Oak? Probably not.

the caseback of a norqain watch
The Wild One Skeleton’s 25-part case combines robust shock resistance with extreme light weight.
Norqain

The Norqain Wild One Skeleton is not a sports watch in name only — it’s built to perform. Designed with input from legendary watch executive Jean-Claude Biver, the watch features a 25-part case consisting of a titanium movement holder, a rubber shock absorber, and an external cage made of Norqain’s proprietary carbon fiber composite, Norteq.

The watch is exceptionally light and highly resistant to shocks, making it ideal for the bumps one encounters during aggressive athletic activity. The Wild One Skeleton has popped up on the wrists of pro tennis players and other athletes and celebrities, and its popularity among them — some of whom are paid Norqain ambassadors, while others, like Mark Wahlberg, found the watch organically — has made the watch the de facto flagship of the young brand.

With the new 39mm case size, the Wild One Skeleton is decidedly unisex, as demonstrated by Norqain ambassador and figure skater Kimmy Repond.
Norqain

Previously, the Wild One Skeleton was only available in 42mm. Today, the brand has launched a version in 39mm, making it suitable for a wider range of wrists. Not only that, but thanks to its reduced case size, the watch is even lighter than its larger sibling. Weighing just 64 grams, it’s the lightest watch Norqain has ever produced.

This Groundbreaking EDC Pen Could Be the Most Carry-Friendly Writing Utensil Ever

Evolution revolution

As its name suggests, Hancept’s Zero Mk2 is the evolution of the original Zero. While conceptually the same, the Mk2 improves on the Zero’s design in several significant ways.

For starters, the overall design is more refined, multifaceted and sophisticated. Its edges are more rounded and its reinforcements are tighter and stronger. It also has a sleeker edge angle, making slipping into your wallet slots easier.

Extreme attention to detail helps make this transforming EDC pen much more than a novelty. It’s a tour de force in design and innovation.

When converted to pen form, the magnets offer a better, sharper click — as opposed to the clunky “thunk” of the original. The pen’s body also has a stronger overall structure; it retains its hexagonal shape even when twisted.

All of this was born of a painstaking redesign process. Hancept put the pen through a whopping 34 design revisions and crafted 27 different prototypes before they were happy with the Mk2.

Omega Aqua Terra Turquoise

When it comes to everyday sports watches, the Omega Aqua Terra sets the bar for versatility, comfort, value and good looks. Now, the watch gets a bold makeover with the addition of a lacquered turquoise dial that differs from other timepieces thanks to a black gradient effect, which stands in vivd contrast to white indices. Highland The Wash

Highland expands upon its lineup of styling products with The Wash, an all-in-one shower solution that cleans, hydrates and nourishes both hair and scalp. Transparently formulated with science-backed ingredients and botanicals, the sulfate- and fragrance-free cleanser smells like sandalwood and mint — naturally.

Sony C710N wireless earbudsSony

Sony C710N

The Sony C710N are budget-friendly wireless earbuds that are the direct successor to the 2023-released WFC700N. They have support premium features, such as active noise-cancellation and transparency modes, Bluetooth multi-pairing and optical sensors that automatically play/pause music when the earbuds are placed/removed from your ears. But the most standout new feature is that Sony offers them in a transparent blue design (as well as several other traditional colors).

Rimowa Holiday Hand-Carry Case

Rimowa turns to its archive for this limited-edition release by recreating one of the brand’s first vividly colored luggage collections from 1988. The Holiday Hand-Case is available in Gloss Blue, Red or Yellow, with each featuring white accents and lining color-matched to its grooved polycarbonate exterior. The delightfully retro case, which is intended for quick 2—3 day trips, also includes a detachable shoulder strap to make it easier to carry.

A Cult-Favorite Seiko Diver Just Got Even More Japanese

When it first arrived on the watch scene in the early aughts, Seiko’s Prospex SKX779 dive watch drove a wedge through the middle of the watch enthusiast space. Some found its bizarre, chunky appearance downright disgusting, while others fell madly in love with its quirks.

For better or worse, the watch — which earned the moniker “Monster” — became a mainstay of Seiko’s dive watch category. Now, this beast turns another unique page in its long history with the release of the exclusive Seiko x Beams Prospex SKX781.

Most of the watch’s somewhat divisive, iconic features remain in this Beams reimagining.
Beams

The beast from 109 fathoms

Thankfully, the chunky stainless steel case and matching thick link band — two elements that earned this Seiko Prospex diver the nickname “Monster” — remain in this new version.

In fact, much of what makes the SKX781 popular among fans and collectors has stayed intact. That includes its rotating dive timer bezel, Lumibrite-coated hands and dial markers, 3 o’clock day-date window, 4 o’clock crown and even its hardlex crystal.

Most critically, it is still powered by the same reliable, time-tested, serviceable 4R36 automatic mechanical movement. This is also why the watch is still the same beefy 42.5mm size.

Adidas Secretly Released the Perfect Retro Sneaker. And It’s Not the Samba

Bob Marley’s go-to shoe continues its rise with the best colorway yet. But most shoppers may never see it.

The SL 72 may not be as big as the Samba but it’s not for a lack of trying.

Last year, the old-school Adidas sneaker nearly topped the Lyst Index, a quarterly roundup of the hottest items in fashion.

Models like Emily Ratajkowski added pairs to their wardrobes. Grace Wales Bonner gave the shoe a series of sold-out glow-ups.

And now, Adidas has devised what may be the idyllic pair, available in a timeless harmony of white, navy blue and gold-foil branding.

Collegiate Navy and a creamy yellow midsole give this version of the SL 72 timeless aura.

What’s more, the midsole features in a unique creamy yellow that plays into the SL 72’s heritage and retro appeal.

Adidas

(The shoe was first released ahead of the 1972 Summer Olympics and became a go-to for Bob Marley; notably, it was one of the first Adidas shoes to showcase the brand’s trefoil logo.)

Just one problem: the brand isn’t ready to release it on a global scale. And mum’s the word on whether or not it ever will.

A Japan exclusive

Like many good things in life, the new SL 72 looks to be exclusive to the Japanese market, with a Night Indigo colorway coming in as the closest dupe for US shoppers.

Though it shares the dark-blue upper, its white midsole and toe cap come across more modern than nostalgic.

This Night Indigo colorway is the closest US shoppers can get to the colorway. It shared a dark-blue upper and gold foiling, but the white midsole and toe cap give it a modern edge.
Adidas

That being said, it’s still a handsome shoe and there are certainly worse ways to spend $100 than on a classic everyday sneaker in a versatile colorway.

Meanwhile, the Japan-exclusive SL 72 is available for 14,300 Japanese Yen (around $95 given the favorable exchange rate).

This Impossibly Affordable EDC Knife Is a Redesigned, Value-Packed Fan-Favorite

For the last several years, Ben Petersen has been pretty busy. Before running EDC knife brand Knafs full time, he designed noteworthy cutting tools for other brands. Most notably, he designed the Civivi Baby Banter 6.

However, that stout cutting tool didn’t quench his thirst for small folders. So, he returned to the drawing board and, a few years later, crafted the insanely affordable Knafs Lander 5 — what could be one of the best starter knives of all time.

Knafs Lander 5 kn hand above grass
One of the Lander 5’s best features is its stoutness. It’s highly functional but also more legal to carry in more places.
Knafs

The first cut

It’s no coincidence that I dubbed the Knafs Lander 5 a starter knife. That was Petersen’s entire intent. He wanted to create the ultimate “first knife” — a cutting tool folks new to EDC might start their collection (read: obsession) with.

This goal was born of Petersen’s personal history with EDC knives — he spent his teens in the Boy Scouts, acquiring scars (and skills) from Swiss Army Knives. However, with 14 years of knifemaking under his belt, he was finally ready to craft a knife design for kids like him.

But that isn’t as simple as sketching a pocketknife design. It required consideration and planning. Petersen had to craft a design that stood up to punishment, boasted worthwhile materials and mechanisms, and (most importantly) was affordable and approachable.

Is Breitling Gunning for Rolex With Its Latest Watch?

Take a look at the baton hands and indices. Yes, they are borrowed from the Top Time Chronograph, but in this three-hand layout, they look very Rolex-y. Further driving home that point is the cyclops date window at 3 o’clock. That is a signature of the Datejust, and of Rolex in general, so seeing it pop up on a three-hand Breitling is a little jarring.

Water resistance is 100m, making it just as everyday-appropriate as a Datejust, and even the bracelet offered is the closest thing Breitling offers to a Rolex Oyster bracelet — Breitling’s slashed-Oyster “Professional” bracelet, complete with polished center links.

Despite its similarities, however, the new Top Time is no Datejust ripoff. Its vintage-inspired case is completely different, its bold minute track and use of multiple colors on the dial put it into far sportier territory, and it’s available on your choice of a bracelet or a perforated leather rallye strap. It also features a sapphire display back, something we’ll probably never see on a Datejust.

Breitling

Pricing and Availability

With its everyday style, new in-house movement and “Rolex but make it sportier” vibes, I think the new Top Time three-hander is a big hit for Breitling. The brand certainly thinks so, too, as it has introduced movie star Austin Butler as the face of the watch for its initial campaign.

I think the Top Time B31 will appeal to people who like the idea of a Datejust but want something a bit more unique/visually interesting or are just looking to save a little money. A comparable steel Datejust in 36mm with a smooth bezel on an Oyster bracelet goes for $7,550, while the new Top Time B31 retails for just $5,900 on a bracelet or $5,600 on a strap.

A Legendary Space Chronograph Just Got Better. It’s Not an Omega.

The 42-millimeter case, which measures 51 millimeters lug-to-lug, is made from solid titanium, as are the case back, crown and pushers. A cartoon space ship is engraved on the back as a nod to the watch’s origins.

The titanium three-link bracelet has a three-piece squeeze-activated clasp with a push-button micro-adjustment system. Although Fortis will fit the bracelet to a chosen wrist size upon purchase, it is adjustable with screw-in pins. A screwdriver is provided with the watch.

The Novonaut N-42 Titanium Legacy epitomizes great industrial design in watches.
Fortis

This is a tool watch for people who appreciate the beauty in great functionality. Fortis did not sacrifice any margin of performance for improved looks, but the Novonaut N-42 is beautiful because it epitomizes great industrial design in tool watches. A titanium case makes it that much easier to wear.

Availability and pricing

The Fortis Novonaut N-42 Titanium Legacy is available now from Fortis for $5,360.

Terrain 365 has a propensity for making some of the toughest, most durable bladed tools on the market. Throughout its lifespan, the brand’s design language — especially with its folding knives — has continued to evolve.

The brand’s latest, the Terrain 365 Narwhal-AT, might be the ultimate expression of the brand’s ethos (at least so far). It’s not only a gorgeous, minimalist EDC tool but also remarkably robust and well-built.

Gnarly narwhal

With its balanced ovular silhouette and relatively minimalist detailing, you might not realize how robust the Narwhal-AT truly is. That starts with its flipper blade.

Crafted from Terrain 365’s proprietary Terravantium Dendritic Cobalt steel, the blade is tough, holds an edge well and (most critically) is entirely rustproof. It’s so corrosion-resistant that the brand guarantees it for life.

The other end of the knife, the handle, isn’t any less impressive. While the five configurations have varying presentation scale materials — including titanium, carbon fiber and canvas Micarta — they all have a titanium frame lock side.
