Daniel Roth founded his eponymous brand in 1989 after making a name for himself designing watches for Breguet. It was an independent operation where his horological genius was given space to craft some of the most beautiful dress watches ever seen.

As is so often the case, Roth’s creative brilliance did not extend to business, and he was forced to sell his company, which changed hands a couple of times before shuttering.
In 2023, LVMH revived the legendary brand with the limited edition Tourbillon Souscription, followed by two more limited releases. Now, Daniel Roth is releasing its first regular production model under the French luxury conglomerate.

This new Washi paper dial and precious metal reference represents the completion of a transition from a novel design that was pushing boundaries, into the application of that innovative engineering in a genuinely beautiful dress watch.
A stigma still exists around quartz movements, and many enthusiasts are put off by the jerky motion of the second hand. This is rooted in the prestige of mechanical engineering, despite the categorically superior accuracy of quartz.

Whoop’s fifth-generation wearables, the Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG, promise quite the improvements over the previous Whoop 4.0. The new fitness trackers have a significantly faster processor and promise triple the battery life (now up to 14 days). They also have a 7-percent smaller design — it’s the first hardware update for Whoop since 2021. Additionally, this is the first time that Whoop has introduced an MG model (which stands for “Medical Grade”), which is identical to the Whoop 5.0 but adds an electrocardiogram (ECG) for better monitoring heart health. As before, Whoop is a subscription-based service; an annual subscription starts at $199, while the mid-tier Whoop Peak and premium Whoop Life subscriptions, which add more health monitoring features, have an annual cost of $239 and $359, respectively.

There’s definitely some debate over what the “original” tactical folding knife is. However, it usually comes down to just two options.
First, there’s Bob Terzuola’s ATC, which the lauded knifemaker penned while working for the CIA. The second is Ernest Emerson’s A-100, which was initially crafted for the US military. Whichever side of the aisle you stand upon, there’s no denying the influence of both of these knives.
Now, the latter is getting a pretty stellar Japanese-inspired upgrade in the form of the Emerson A-100 Tanto Flipper.

The original A-100 (versions of which are still in production) had a spear-point blade crafted from 154CM steel. However, this version swaps both the shape and material.

There pack also has what the brand calls an “integrated mini lid” which clips over the top for extra protection and “more secure rope carry,” but I can easily see a towel or an extra layer such as a jacket or hoodie taking the place of said rope.

The other major alteration to this new take on the All Star is its sole. While it retains its iconic toe cap, the sole itself is much thicker. Unsurprisingly, this serves a purpose beyond just adding a bit of height to the shoe.
For starters, the sneaker gets an EVA midsole, adding a good amount of cushioning not found in the original, which is much more ideal for absorbing impacts on the trails. That’s furthered by its high-density urethane foam and rubber sponge insole.

During WWII, the British famously ran many spy operations. In fact, Ian Fleming based his most famous character, James Bond, on several people he knew during his time in the British Naval Intelligence Division.

The Sleeve Dagger (also known as a Bodkin or Nail Dagger) is an incredibly simple yet effective implement. It’s a single, slender piece of metal with a handle on one end and a dagger blade on the other.

The Buster FG’s crux is the Superlock mechanism. It’s a clever, curious lock that uses a spring-loaded backspacer, which moves back and forth instead of up and down, to wedge itself between the blade’s tang and the handle’s stop pin.

For 2025, Microsoft has introduced a smaller 13-inch Surface Laptop that joins its existing 13.8- or 15-inch models. The smaller model is mostly similar, but comes with a few tradeoffs — compared to the 13.8-inch Surface Laptop, the new 13-inch model’s display isn’t as high-resolution (178 ppi instead of 201 ppi) and runs at 60Hz instead of 120Hz. The other obvious difference is that it swaps out Microsoft’s proprietary Surface Connect charging port in favor of two USB-C charging ports. It starts at $899, $100 cheaper than the 13.8-inch model.
