Converse’s Best New Sneaker in Years Is an Unexpected ’70s Throwback

When you think of Converse, one shoe probably comes to mind: Chucks. Yes, the Chuck Taylor All Star may be the most iconic sneaker of all time, but it’s also somewhat hurt Converse as a brand. Most folks probably can’t name another silhouette.

I’m here to tell you that Converse has a rich, storied history that extends well beyond that single sneaker. The brand’s latest collab with Tyler, The Creator, the Converse 1908 Archives Coach Jogger, proves exactly that.

It might be the best shoe the brand has released in years — and it could be the perfect summer go-to.

The nylon and suede materials blend beautifully with the shoe’s retro silhouette.

Put me in, coach

I was skeptical when it was announced that Tyler, The Creator — rapper, comedian and weirdo extraordinaire — was working on a collaborative archival series with Converse. It’s not that I don’t respect his artistry; it just seemed like a mismatch.

I’m happy to say that, after seeing this Coach Jogger, a revival of a ’70s sneaker style, I was deeply mistaken in my snap judgment. This sneaker honors its heritage while elevating it in several ways.

The ‘World’s Most Durable Duffel’ Is Now a Slightly More Reasonable Buy

We’ll admit it. Over-engineered products get us going, but sometimes, even gear nerds like us scratch our heads at certain items that cross our desks.

The Toolbox Duffle bag from Norda is one of the more memorable recent examples of a product that intrigued and confused our team, mainly because of its unique blend of performance and eye-watering price.

Now, however, it’s on sale for the first time since it launched last summer, changing the bag’s value proposition definitely for the positive.

A Product Curveball from a Cult-Favorite Brand

Norda Toolbox Dyneema Duffel Bag in Stealth blackNorda

Part of our surprise had to do with our pre-existing brand expectations.

We’ve long been fans of the Canadian running brand’s trail shoes, but we never suspected the company would suddenly delve into bags or luggage.

And as far as first entries go into a new product category, the Toolbox is an exceptionally bold first step.

There Has Never Been a More Minimalist G-Shock Watch Than This One

Culture shock

Obviously, this G-Shock’s styling is wildly different from most of the brand’s other offerings. However, at its core, it’s still very much a G-Shock (a boon to brand fans).

That means, like other DW-5900 watches, it has an incredibly reliable digital quartz movement. It also offers 200m of water resistance, a world-timer function, a full-auto calendar, an EL backlight, integrated alarms, and a five-year battery.

The collaborative branding is also very subtle, found only in three locations: on the caseback, on the back of the included leather strap and hidden in the backlight.

While it might not be for everyone, there’s no denying the uniqueness and character of this especially minimalist G-Shock.

Sam Altman and Jony Ive’s First Product Hype Video Makes Steve Jobs Seem Timid

There have been plenty of famously hyped consumer products throughout history.

And yet, I feel confident that even the most prominent examples, like the Segway, soon won’t hold a candle to the wildfire of anticipation OpenAI—the technology firm behind ChatGPT— just sparked for its eventual hardware debut.

A Union Two Years in the Making

An illustration of a futuristic box with a bright blue question mark on the side erected over a pile of brownish grey tablets, smartphones and laptopsGear Patrol via ChatGPT

The hype wave in question stems from OpenAI’s acquisition/union of the product design studio, io, in a deal valued at $6.5 billion.

Io was formed just two years ago and includes Jony Ive—who once held the title of Chief Design Officer at Apple and is credited as the co-designer of the iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods—among its founding members, in addition to Scott Cannon, Evans Hankey, and Tang Tan, whom Ive describes as “the most extraordinary engineers.”

Together, they built a team that according to Ive, consists of “remarkable subject matter experts that range from hardware and software engineering, physicists, researchers, and product manufacturing experts.”

“I think it is the coolest piece of technology that the world will have ever seen.”

– Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI

After working somewhat behind the scenes with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on a not-so-secret AI hardware project for a few years, the startup “will now merge with OpenAI to work more intimately with the research, engineering and product teams in San Francisco,” according to OpenAI’s official statement on the matter.

However, Ive’s not officially joining the company, though he and his creative consultancy, LoveFrom, which was developed in partnership with Marc Newsom, “will assume deep design and creative responsibilities across OpenAI and io.”

Case’s Classic Americana EDC Knife Pays Homage to One of the USA’s Most Storied Trails

Case Knives was started out of the back of a wagon in Upstate New York in 1889. As such, the knifemaking brand is practically synonymous with American heritage.

Technically, that makes it older than the Appalachian Trail — another fundamental piece of Americana. So, it makes sense that Case would want to help celebrate the Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s 100th anniversary.

And what better way to do it than with the release of this commemorative heirloom EDC knife, the Case Limited Edition A.T. Diamond Case Trapper Knife?

Appalachian Trail Conservancy

2,197-mile knife

According to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, “the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is the longest hiking-only footpath in the world, measuring 2,197.4 miles.” Stretching between Springer Mountain, Georgia, and Katahdin, Maine, it’s an essential part of the USA’s outdoor history.

This gorgeous knife pays tribute to that iconic hiking path in several ways. For instance, the trapper dual-bladed knife style is historically significant, especially in the USA, as it was initially designed for hunters.

The weeks before and after Memorial Day weekend have increasingly become prime shopping windows for saving on various summer staples as well as a clearance opportunity to get rid of winter inventory once and for all. Here, we’ve collected the best major site-wide memorial deals that have come across our radar.

Honestly, the sales this year feel far more muted compared to 2024, but there are still discounts to be had if you know where to look.

We’re also aware of plenty more that’ll launching in the days ahead, so be sure to check back if you don’t see a brand you were hoping for initially.

A Popular EDC Brand Just Launched Its First-Ever In-House Knife

A first (and hopefully not a last)

As mentioned, the Little Lulu is the first knife Knafs has ever produced in-house. Having gotten hands-on with it myself, I truly hope that trend continues.

Obviously, 5.2 inches is pretty small for a fixed blade. When I first saw it, I had my doubts. However, the second I picked the knife up, those doubts were utterly dispelled.

For being so small, the knife feels incredibly sturdy — better than some knives twice its size.

For being so small, the knife feels incredibly sturdy — better than some knives twice its size. The craftsmanship is exceptional, and, better still, the grip is secure (I can get nearly all four fingers on it, but even with three, it still feels very good).

While the 1.9-inch blade is clearly limited in its cutting power, its exceptional steel and shape balance out the length issue. I might not use this knife as a bushcraft survival fixie, but it definitely works well as a discreet EDC knife or a backup blade.

ELAC ConneX DBC61

The ELAC ConneX DBC61 is a powered desktop speaker system that, in a nutshell, is a bigger and better-sounding version of its popular ConneX DBC41 ($699). The system pairs one active and one passive speaker together — the active (or primary) speaker houses the amplification and wired connections for both. Like its smaller brethren, the ConneX DBC61 is highly versatile. You can use them as desktop speakers (via a USB connection), TV speakers (via HDMI ARC) or just stream audio from your smartphone (thanks to built-in Bluetooth). They also have a built-in phono preamp (switchable), allowing you to use them with a wide variety of turntables.

P.F. Flyers The Captain

Inspired by basketball legend Bob Cousy, the Sandlot sneaker brand, known for making folks run faster and jump higher, has dropped a retro sneaker collection that revives the classic canvas-on-rubber style. Available in high- and low-top versions, this sneaker boasts a vintage-inspired heavyweight canvas upper, gum rubber outsole (with the brand’s signature ribbed toe bumper) and Posture Foundation Magic Wedge Insole.

Vans OTW Authentic 44 Vibram

Vans gave its original sneaker a boot build with a leather upper and Vibram rubber outsole. The black upper is embossed with a checkboard pattern with faux white painted panels. This is a nod to the Van’s original checkboard pattern from 1981, which was inspired by surfers and skateboarders drawing patterns on the brand’s white canvas sneakers.

Rezvani Knight Lamborghini UrusRezvani

Rezvani Knight

Based on the Lamborghini Urus (which interested parties will have to supply themselves), this conversion turns the refined Italian SUV into an aggressive tank-like supercar. Powered by a twin-turbo V8 with up to 800 horsepower (with a blistering 3.0-second 0-60 time), this all-wheel-drive beast boasts Batmobile-like carbon fiber bodywork and a marvelously luxurious interior with tons of customization options. There’s even a bulletproof package for those needing extra security. However, only 100 examples will be built.

RTIC 16 QT Road Trip Cooler

This streamlined, affordable cooler has the makings of a day-trip dynamo, especially for carless city dwellers. Up to 2 inches of closed-cell foam, a freezer-style gasket and an auto-locking lid sustain cold for up to two days, while a two-in-one adjustable strap (handle or shoulder carry), 8.2-pound (empty) weight and nine-inch depth make it more realistically totable than many alternatives. Capacity-wise, it can hold up to 20 cans or two wine bottles, with dividers and a cargo net helping to section off sandwiches, snacks and other provisions.

This Minimalist EDC Knife Is Easier to Customize Than Any I’ve Ever Seen

While the brand hasn’t started selling swappable scales yet, the knife was launched with 11 different options. They include carbon fiber, Fatcarbon, Damascus steel and numerous others.

That customization also extends from the presentation side to the lock side of the knife, meaning you can mix and match. Hopefully, the brand will soon launch standalone scales for purchase.

Noc Knives MT-30
The knife’s integrated frame lock and thumb hole make operating it secure and convenient.
Noc Knives

Built rock-solid

Even without the custom scale swapping, the Noc Knives MT-30 is an incredibly solid knife. It measures 7.59 inches total with a 3.5-inch blade and weighs between 5.6 and 7.12 ounces (depending on the scale inlays).

The clip-point blade is crafted from Böhler M390 super steel — renowned for its edge retention, strength, corrosion resistance and more — and is available with a DLC coating. It also boasts a thumb hole for manual deployment.

Another week down, and, per usual, a bunch of new tech and gadgets have been announced.

This past week, Sony finally announced its WH-1000XM6 noise-canceling headphones, Audio-Technica unveiled its “finest” turntable to date, and Garmin debuted its latest GPS smartwatches for runners. But that’s just scratching the surface.

Below, we’ve rounded up all the most interesting new releases and announcements you might have missed from the past week.

iFI Up TraveliFi

iFi Up Travel

The iFi Up Travel is a portable Bluetooth travel adapter from the British-based hi-fi company. It works as a transmitter and a receiver. This means you can plug it into an in-flight entertainment system and stream audio to your wireless headphones, but you can also plug it into an old car’s audio system and play music from your smartphone. It also has a high-quality DAC and supports high-resolution codecs, including aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency and LDAC files.

Garmin Forerunner 970Garmin

Garmin Forerunner 970

The Garmin Forerunner 970 is the company’s new “best of the best” GPS running watch for 2025. Compared to previous Forerunners, the 970 has the “brightest AMOLED screen yet,” according to the brand. It also has a built-in microphone and speaker — a first for the Forerunner line — so you can answer calls right from your wrist during runs. The Forerunner 970 comes in one size: 47mm. (For those looking for a similar but more affordable option, check out Garmin’s Forerunner 570, which is also new for 2025.)

Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 turntableAudio-Technica

Audio-Technica AT-LPA2

The Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 is the brand’s new flagship audiophile turntable for 2025, which it’s calling the “finest turntable [it] has ever developed.” It is a fully manual, belt-drive turntable featuring a transparent acrylic plinth and platter, which gives the impression that the record is floating while playing. It comes pre-mounted with Audio-Technica’s AT-OC9XEN moving-coil cartridge (which sells for $400 on its own) and has a separate box for power and controls.

We Are Rewind boomboxWe Are Rewind

We Are Rewind GB-001

The GB-001 is a portable Bluetooth speaker and cassette tape player (and recorder) that resembles a classic 1980s boombox. It features backlit VU meters, which deliver a similar soft glow to those found in many vintage stereos, as well as numerous tactile knobs, switches and a folding carrying handle. It’s designed for high-quality cassette tape playback — according to the French audio brand, it has “a top-of-the-line cassette deck mechanism, complete with a powerful, user-adjustable motor that includes internal speed regulation.”

Sony WH-1000XM6 noise-canceling headphonesSony

Sony WH-1000XM6

The Sony WH-1000XM6 are the company’s new flagship noise-canceling wireless headphones for 2025, and they’ve been completely upgraded over the brand’s 2022-released XM5. Compared to its predecessors, the XM6 have drastically improved ANC thanks to a new processor (which is “seven times faster”) and twelve built-in mics (versus the previous eight). They boast a redesigned driver and new upscaling technology for improved sound. And the headphones have an improved foldable design — they can fold flat and compactly (the latter their predecessors could not) — and have a round on/off power button (instead of being the same shape as the ANC button). The only real caveat is that Sony added $50 to the price tag.

Bang & Olufsen Atelier Limited Edition Art DecoBang & Olufsen

Bang & Olufsen Atelier Limited Edition Art Deco

To celebrate the Danish hi-fi company’s 100-year history, Bang & Olufsen has released special edition versions of its Beolab 28 speakers and Beovision Theatre soundbar (which comes with an optional OLED LG screen), each of which has been reimagined with an Art Deco design. According to the brand, “the design draws on the bold geometry and rich material palette of 1920s architecture, with dark rosewood and chestnut-anodised aluminium at its core.” Only 100 will be made.

WiiM Amp UltraWiiM

WiiM Amp Ultra

The WiiM Amp Ultra is the company’s most powerful and refined streaming amplifier that, according to the brand, “builds on the streaming power users loved in the Amp Pro and combines it with the premium display experience introduced in the WiiM Ultra (its premium music streamer).” It can deliver 100 watts per channel (into 8 ohms) or 200 watts (into 4 ohms). It features an audiophile-grade DAC and a dual Class-D amp chip that allows it to stream audio up to 32-bit/384 kHz. And, thanks to an HDMI ARC input, it’s also primed to be the hub of your home theater setup.

WiiM Sub ProWiiM

WiiM Sub Pro

The WiiM Sub Pro is the company’s first subwoofer that works similarly to Sonos’s Sub Mini (but for WiiM’s ecosystem). It features an 8-inch woofer, Class D amplification, and can output up to 250 watts of power. It’s also flexible, capable of being used as a wired or wireless subwoofer; you can wirelessly add it to a WiiM hi-fi system or wire it to any other system.

WiiM SoundWiiM

WiiM Sound

The WiiM Sound is the company’s first smart speaker, which can be integrated with either Alexa or Google Assistant. The speaker resembles Apple’s HomePod, but features a front-facing touchscreen color display that displays album artwork, playlists, and other menus. On top of the speaker, the Sound has other playback controls. The wireless speaker features a 4-inch woofer and dual-balanced mode radiator tweeters. It promises to output up to 100 watts of power and stream high-resolution audio up to 32-bit/192kHz.

Focal Diva Utopia new finishesFocal

Focal Diva Utopia (Lacquered Finishes)

Focal’s Diva Utopia are high-end wireless active floorstanding speakers that cost $40,000. When they were initially released in October 2024, they were only available in one grey felt finish. However, the French luxury audio maker has now introduced three new lacquered high-gloss finishes: black, dune and white. But they come with an additional $9,500 cost.

Sony Xperia 1 VIISony

Sony Xperia 1 VII

Sony’s flagship smartphone for 2025, the Xperia 1 VII, feels like a throwback. Yes, it boasts all the high-end specs you’d expect from today’s flagships, including a gorgeous 6.5-inch OLED display and an excellent triple-camera system. However, it also features elements from the past, including a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack and expandable storage capabilities via a microSD card slot. It’s expected to cost $1,700, but unfortunately, it’s unlikely to be released in the US.

Fyne Audio F704SP loudspeakerFyne Audio

Fyne Audio F704SP Loudspeakers

The Fyne Audio F704SP is the latest pair of high-end loudspeakers from the Scottish hi-fi manufacturer. They are essentially upgraded versions of the brand’s existing F704 floorstanding loudspeakers, which retail for $18,999 per pair, and join the brand’s “SP” (or “Special Treatment”) line of loudspeakers. They feature a 300mm IsoFlare driver, which is “directly inspired” by the IsoFlare driver in its F1 series, for midrange and high frequencies, as well as a second 300mm driver for bass. They feature beautiful wooden cabinets, handcrafted in the UK from high-density European birch plywood.

Samsung Galaxy S25 EdgeSamsung

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge joins the company’s existing Galaxy S25 smartphone lineup that was released earlier this year. And, in a nutshell, the “Edge” is a thinner, slimmer, bigger and slightly upgraded version of the base Galaxy S25. It features a 6.7-inch display, matching the Galaxy S25 Plus, and measures 5.8mm in thickness, making it one of the thinnest smartphones available. It features a dual camera system, borrowing the 200-megapixel main camera from the higher-end model; the notable omission is the telephoto camera. The other big tradeoff is that it has a smaller battery than the rest of the company’s flagship lineup.

Eversolo Play streaming ampEversolo

Eversolo Play

The Eversolo Play is a “just add speakers” streaming amplifier. It packs a Class D amplifier that promises to deliver 60 watts per channel (into 8 ohms) or 110 watts per channel (into 4 ohms). The onboard AK4493 DAC supports high-resolution audio files, including DSD512 and PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz. It has built-in Wi-Fi and supports a wealth of modern streaming features, including Tidal Connect and Spotify Connect. It also has a variety of inputs for connecting wired sources, including an HDMI ARC for connecting to a TV, and an MM/MC phono input for connecting a turntable. Most interestingly, Eversolo will sell a variant of the Play with an integrated CD player — called the Eversolo Play CD Edition — for those who want a modern player that can keep that physical media format alive.

Nike Just Slashed the Price on Many of Its Best Recent Releases

With summer on the way, the footwear giant is making room for new colors, meaning many of our favorite new sneakers are suddenly on sale.

Spring is just as much a time of renewal in retail as it is in nature, which makes it an ideal opportunity to snag excellent gear for less, granted to you know where to look.

Last year, Nike repeatedly turned our heads with all-new sneakers and significant updates to longstanding product lines.

Our managing editor, Jack Seemer, called the brand-new Nike C1TY a modern classic when it broke cover in the fall. Our Chief Content Officer and Co-Founder Ben Bowers also called the Jordan RM1 one of the most compelling new releases from the brand in years. And nearly everyone on our staff agreed that the Vomero Roam was one of the best-ruggedized shoes we’d seen from the Swoosh in a while.

Now, select versions of each of these models are all on sale for 20% or more while sizes last, alongside various other compelling silhouettes to suit nearly every style and shoe need.

Nike

Nike C1TY “Caution Tape”

Nike’s C1ty is a versatile lifestyle sneaker that blends retro design with modern functionality. Drawing inspiration from the Tom Sachs General Purpose Shoe and the 1980s Field General, it features a molded cup sole, waffle outsole, and microfiber ankle collar. It’s a great option you’re looking for an everyday sneaker that doesn’t quite look like anything else on the market right now.

Nike C1ty “Phone Booth”

Nike’s C1ty is a versatile lifestyle sneaker that blends retro design with modern functionality. Drawing inspiration from the Tom Sachs General Purpose Shoe and the 1980s Field General, it features a molded cup sole, waffle outsole, and microfiber ankle collar. It’s a great option you’re looking for an everyday sneaker that doesn’t quite look like anything else on the market right now.

Nike

Air Jordan 4 RM

We named the Jordan 4 RM one of the 100 best new products of 2024 for several reasons. The Air Jordan 4 RM is a sneaker with many disparate goals. First, it’s a celebration. The letters RM stand for remixed, in a nod to the shoe’s visual echoes of one of the most famous basketball and streetwear footwear icons of all time, the Air Jordan 4, which launched 35 years ago. It’s also a brand olive branch to different consumers and subcultures. Unlike its inspiration, the 4RM is a low top made with walking comfort in mind; it’s also easier to wear for a broader range of people.

Nike

Nike Zoom Vomero Roam (Ivory/Light Khaki)

This weatherized version of the Zoom Vomero is easily one of Nike’s strongest releases of 2024. We especially like the rugged rubber mudguard for fighting rain and easy cleaning.

Nike

Nike Pegasus Trail 5 GORE-TEX (Noir/Pale Ivory)

Every year, the Pegasus Trail, Nike’s off-road version of its versatile everyday trainer, gets winterized with a Gore-Tex upper. The shoe also features the brand’s responsive ReactX foam in the midsole and an all-terrain outsole.

Nike

Nike Free Metcon 6

Nike’s Metcon line has long been regarded as an excellent gym and training shoe thanks to strong ankle support, generous EVA cushioning and a nice secure fit. The Free Metcon 6 also happens to be one of the cleaner looking sneaker’s Nike’s released over the years.

Nike

Nike Motiva (Summit White/Wheat)

It’s a bit of an oversimplification, but you can consider the Motiva to be at least a partial answer to the comfy yet bulky shoe trend popularized by Hoka. This walking shoe is designed to maximize comfort thanks to a tall foam stack and a “Comfortgroove” outsole for added shock absorption.

Nike Waffle Nav sneaker in light grey against a light grey backgroundNIke

Nike Waffle Nav Sneaker

Nike’s waffle line is having a moment. The nav stands out for its clean retro aesthetics and suede detailing. You’ll discover the sale price for this particularly nice color way only after you add it your cart.

Nike Killshot Leather 2 blackNIke

Nike Killshot 2 Leather

This premium leather version of Nike’s revamped Killshot is available at a nice discount in various colors.

Nike

Nike Calm Mule

These mules aren’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for a Crocs alternative or a fan of recovery slides, this is a versatile option given that the hell strap is easily removable.

Toyota Is Finally Making the EV the Car Market Sorely Needs

Speaking of phones, the car’s headlights, horn, rear hatch, and core temperature controls like the heat seaters/ventilation, defroster, and steering wheel heater can all be activated remotely using the Toyota app and even synced to a schedule. A user’s phone can also serve as a digital key to the vehicle. The car can even function as a 4G wireless AT&T hotspot for up to four devices with a subscription.

The bZ Woodland also comes standard with Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 suite, which includes features like pre-collision avoidance, lane departure alerts, dynamic cruise control, lane tracing and road sign assist, automatic high beams, and proactive driving assist.

Range and Performance

An image of the Toyota bZ Woodland EV parked on a ridge facing a city in the far distance
Toyota states the bZ Woodland will offer up to 260 miles, which isn’t particularly impressive, though it’s on par with the standard version of the Ford Mach E and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Toyota

You can’t talk about EVs without discussing range. Toyota states the bZ Woodland will offer up to 260 miles, which isn’t particularly impressive given the vehicle’s seemingly “get out there” ethos. That said, it matches the range of baseline versions of Ford’s Mach E and the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

It features a North American Charging System (NACS) port and can jump from 10 – 80% power after 30 minutes of DC charging.

Traction-wise, the vehicle features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with a grip-control function that Toyota says provides “motor drive power modulation to achieve capable off-road performance.” Toyota pegs the combined system output at 375 hp.

Vosteed’s Discreet Tactical Blade Is a Fresh Take on the Grandfather of Fighting Knives

That stout blade is mated to an ergonomic handle, marked by a trio of finger grips, with your choice of G10, Micarta or even PEI handle scales. Overall, it measures 6.03 inches total (or 5.65, again, depending on the model [more on that later]).

Finally, this discreet little fixie is accompanied by a Kydex sheath with Vosteed’s new S.O.A.R. Clip — a clever rotating clip that allows the knife to be carried at virtually any angle. That means, in conjunction with the knife’s discretion, it can also be customized to your carry style.

Vosteed Quokka Bowie Knife in hand
The Quokka-O’s finger ring offers a more secure grip, especially with a tactical hand position.
Vosteed

The Quokka, two ways

As mentioned, there are two versions of the Quokka, along with its varying configurations. The chief difference between them is found on the knife’s tail.

The standard Quokka knife has a small lanyard hole on the end. However, the Quokka-O gets a tactical-inspired finger ring (or retention ring). While the choice ultimately comes down to your preference, that difference means a couple of crucial things.

G-Shock and Crocs Just Transformed the ‘CasiOak’ Into a Wild New Wearable

As a G-Shock, the GA2100 typically packs plenty of adventure-ready features, including a super illuminator double LED light and backlight, 200-meter water resistance, world timer tracking of up to 31 time zones, a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarms, and a full auto-calendar.

However, we can’t confirm yet that the G-Shock Echo Wave Bundle will mirror this common feature set.

The Unique Bridge Between Them

A view of the watch unit of the G-Shock x Crocs Echo Wave watch being slid into the attachment case located on the Crocs Echo Wave shoe by a pair of messy hands covered with specks of white paint.
The included product shots of the collaboration depicting an artist working in a studio might hint at one plausible explanation for why the watch attaches to the shoe.
Crocs

Now, let’s turn our attention back to the fact that this collaboration shows the companion G-Shock watch attached directly to the Echo Wave Clog.

What’s this all about, you ask?

Floyd The Lift Kit

Designed to be used with Floyd’s existing bed, the brand’s easy-to-install Lift Kit nearly doubles the headroom underneath the frame from 7.5 to 14.5 inches. The hardware itself is fashioned from 11-gauge sheet metal, while a matte coating increases longevity. In other words, the already-modular bed is even more versatile and durable. You might just keep it for life.

2026 Toyota Corolla Cross on desert roadToyota

2026 Toyota Corolla Cross

Toyota’s compact entry-level SUV has gotten a pretty comprehensive refresh for the 2026 model year. Improvements include front fascia treatments (including color matching on the hybrid and a wide grill for gas models), a new interior console design, optional 18-inch alloy wheels and an optional 10.5-inch touchscreen interior display. All these updates and more help get the US models more in line with international versions, making the Corolla Cross look far better than it did previously.

ChatGPT’s CEO Might’ve Mastered AI, But His Olive Oil Game Still Needs Work

“Is he using drizzle for sizzle?” reads one comment on Graza’s Instagram post highlighting clips from Altman’s FT recent interview.”

That’s because Graza’s olive oil lineup today consists of three different options dubbed “Drizzle”, “Sizzle” and the newly introduced “Frizzle”, in a cheeky nod to each oil’s ideal use case.

Drizzle is made from olives harvested early in the season, in October, according to Graza. The result is “a spicier, more flavor-packed oil” which the brand states makes it great as a “finishing oil.”

A bottle of Graza drizzle olive oil being poured on a piece of cake with strawberriesGraza

In case that isn’t clear enough, the company goes further, explicitly stating “you wouldn’t want to cook with Drizzle,” and even adds a convenient Rhyme Mnemonics to ram home the point. “Made for eating, never heating!”

Sizzle, in contrast, is made from olive picked in November, i.e. peak harvest season, and therefore offers a mellower flavor. According to Graza, the bit of extra maturity makes it ideal for common cooking tasks like “roasting, searing, poaching, pan frying, baking, and marinating.”

“But apparently Altman didn’t read the instructions. Or perhaps more charitably and true to his hacking-ethos, he’s just believes he’s discovered the secret to better tasting pasta.”

Touted as the world’s strongest and lightest duffle bag, Norda’s aptly named toolbox is crafted from Bio-Dyneema, which the brand calls “the world’s strongest and lightest fiber.” While the original versions of this bag — available in white and black — are exceptional on their own, this new limited-edition version (teased on the brand’s Instagram) adds a high-visibility touch for shadowy trails.

Nanga Tusser Nylon Easy Short

Nanaga has a talent for slipping details from outdoor gear into everyday apparel, and the Tusser Easy Short is a perfect example. A standard pair of crinkly 100% nylon shorts is made exceptionally more functional with a simple little detail: the drawstring cinch. The Japanese outfitter utilizes a cord lock, similar to the type found in nautical and climbing equipment, to create a waistband drawstring cinch that is fast, easy and secure.

Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra

Philips’s new top-of-the-line Norelco shaver, the i9000 Prestige Ultra gives new meaning to “close to the skin.” A patented system gently lifts hair from the root before cutting, promising one of the smoothest shaves on the market. The subwoofers come in two finishes (white or black) and range from $900 (W10) to $1,300 (W15).

Kizer Morphs a Traditional Folder Into a Modern Gentleman’s EDC Knife

Few pocket knives are as classic as the folding hunter. This iconic cutting tool style dates back to the origins of the everyday carry category. It’s also most notably crafted by traditional American brands like Buck Knives and Case Cutlery.

Now, a much more contemporary knifemaking brand has taken that time-honored style and pared it into a far more modernized gentleman’s knife. Better still, the Kizer Little Grand will appeal to a range of folks, as it is offered in both highly affordable and decidedly upscale configurations.

Kizer Little Grand EDC Knife family
The leftmost pair boasts Böhler M390 steel, whereas the rightmost has Nitro-V steel.
Kizer

Four of a kind and two pair

The Little Grand is available in four configurations, covering a range of styles and two significantly different price points. However, they can be grouped into two pairs.

The first two — the more affordable options — boast Nitro-V blade steel, one with a silver and the other with a black finish. However, despite sharing the same blade steel, their handles are quite different.

One has aluminum bolsters and Mkuruti wood scales, while the second has G10 bolsters with Micarta scales. That said, they’re far more similar to one another than their high-end siblings.

12 New Pocket Knives, Multi-Tools and EDC You Might Have Missed

Though few in number, this week’s drops are highly varied, including a WWII spy dagger, a chunky camp cooking chopper and a literal pen knife.

Every product is carefully selected by our editors. If you buy from a link, we may earn a commission. Learn more

Even with fewer releases than usual, this week’s collection of new EDC knives and multi-tools was extremely diverse. While several were from the usual suspects, even those drops were extraordinary.

Some of the highlights include an affordable, minimalist folder from Gerber, a futuristic Civivi with a novel locking mechanism, a camp cooking-worthy Tenable and even a WWII-era dagger from Böker.

For all of these and more, check them out below.

To catch up on other notable knives and multi-tools, check out our rolling roundup of the best new knives and EDC releases of 2025.

Flytanium Minim Keychain Folder knifeFlytanium

Flytanium Minim

Flytanium is best known as one of the best knife customization brands out there, specializing in third-party custom parts including handle scales, spacers, hardware and more. However, the brand also offers its own collection of in-house knives, including the outstanding Minim keychain folder. Outfitted like a knife three times its size, this 4.0-inch folder has a D2 steel blade, titanium handle and slip joint mechanism.

gerber affirm embedGerber

Gerber Affirm

This sleek new EDC knife is quite on brand for Gerber: good-looking, highly functional and yet also affordable. Deployed via ambidextrous thumb studs, the jimped 3.5-inch clip-point blade is made of 7Cr17Mov stainless steel, which offers dependable strength, durability and edge retention for its price. Said blade is held in place with a sturdy frame lock, augmented by a pinch plate, while a pocket clip and lanyard hole put the C in EDC.

Buck 112 Slim Pro TRX purple cerakote magnacut embedBuck Knives

Buck 112 Slim Pro TRX (Cerakote)

Limited to 750 pieces, the May 2025 Buck of the Month veers far out of the brand’s traditional lane, in the best possible way. The three-inch clip-point blade is made of the hottest super steel of the moment, MagnaCut, and is both BOS heat treated and skinned with “Crushed Orchid” Cerakote, a ceramic-based coating that boosts resistance to abrasion, corrosion and chemicals. Deployed via ambidextrous gold PVD thumb studs, said blade emerges from a circuit board-like aluminum handle that boasts its own crushed silver Cerakote skin.

Tacray Spinium EDC PenTacray

Tacray Spinium

Althought pricing starts at just $50, this bolt-action pen is built like a tank and is designed to last you for years to come. While its titanium body is definitely a highlight, it also has a unique geometric etching pattern that adds some extra style and grip and comes in two anodized finishes (along with bare metal). As a handy finishing touch, it has a glass breaker tip and fidget spinner on the tail.

Civivi Buster FG EDC KnifeCivivi

Civivi Buster FG

Designed in collaboration with Snecx Tan, the Buster FG is Civivi’s vessel for Tan’s unique Superlock. This novel mechanism, which Tan chose not to patent, is a variation on a back lock that uses a back-and-forth motion (instead of up-and-down like other back locks) of its backspacer to wedge between the knife’s tang and stop pin. While the mechanism is certainly unusual, it offers great strength, ease of use and serviceability. The rest of the knife — including its Nitro-V blade and G10 or Micarta handle — isn’t half bad, either.

tenable bömbur embedTenable Knives

Tenable Bömbur

Named after the voraciously eating, ferociously fighting dwarf from The Hobbit, this knife is similarly chonky. And thanks to the way its handle geometry leaves clearance for your knuckles on a cutting board, it’s uniquely qualified as a camp cooking companion, too. Doesn’t hurt that the blade is a generous 3.53-inch drop-point made of D2 steel with an upward curved belly for enhanced slicing ability — or that spine jimping, ergonomic curves and textured handle scales ensure a sure grip with every slice and dice.

Spyderco Smock Sprint Run Cru Wear EDC KnifeSmock Knives

Spyderco Smock Sprint Run Cru-Wear

The Smock, based on a custom design from Kevin Smock, was already one of Spyderco’s most unique knives. Now, it has achieved grail status, thanks to a blade and handle material swap, granting it a combination of Cru-Wear TiCN-coated steel and black-anodized aluminum. Of course, it retains its unusual silhouette, button-actuated Compression lock and all its other exceptional quirks. This knife will definitely sell out quickly.

Böker Sleeve DaggerBöker

Böker Sleeve Dagger

Inspired by the bodkins and nail daggers used by British Secret Service members engaged in civilian spy ops in WWII, the Böker Sleeve Dagger is as historically accurate as they come. It’s made with a single piece of plain carbon steel (440A) and is comprised of a triangular blade and a simple handle (with a pommel end). Designed for concealed carry, this slender knife is perfect for lovers of wartime history.

titaner dragon pearl titanium dream pen embedTitaner

Titaner Dragon Pearl Titanium Dream Pen

Having mastered the use of titanium in multi-tools, knives and various other EDC knickknacks, Titaner’s design team turned its attention to crafting the ultimate pen, and this sleek, durable, precision-machined wonder is the result. Thanks to all its core components being made of titanium and its compatibility with Fisher Space Pen refills, the Dream Pen is tough and versatile enough to survive the depths of the ocean and the far reaches of the galaxy. Featuring a number of innovations aimed at improving the actual experience of toting and deploying a pen, it also boasts a century-long warranty.

Cobratec CNC OTF Pen Gen IICobratec

Cobratec CNC OTF Pen Gen II

Crafted from CNC-machined aluminum, sporting a titanium pocket clip and measuring 5.875 inches in length, this Cobratec offering is a legit EDC pen. However, it hides a little secret: there’s a spring-loaded 1.75-inch D2 steel blade hidden in the tail. By twisting the lock and pushing up on the pocket clip, the blade springs forward (and retracts just the same). It’s a sneaky way of adding some extra value to an often overlooked EDC tool.

Emerson A 100 Tanto Flipper knifeEmerson

Emerson A-100 Tanto Flipper

Emerson’s A-100 is considered to be one of the grandfathers of the tactical folding knife category. While the original had a sturdy spear-point 154CM steel blade, this one sees that swapped for a MagnaCut tanto — a boon for the many fans that have been requesting it. Yet the knife also retains its other fan-favorite features, like its flipper deployment, liner lock, G10 handle scales and more.

midgards messer bragi mini folder embedBladesIIB

Midgards Messer Bragi Mini Folder

The impossibly tiny Bragi packs a lot of punch into its 3.26-ounce, 3.54-inch (fully deployed) profile. The business end is a 1.4-inch straight-back blade made of 14C28N steel, emerging from a titanium handle with a lightning-like blue and silver pattern. Perhaps most notable, however, is the patented Bud Beets Ball Slide lock, a rare mechanism that — together with the ridged front flipper — enables entirely one-handed operation.
