Is Omega’s James Bond Watch About to Gain a Spy-Worthy New Feature?

A great many watch enthusiasts, myself included, first got into the hobby because of James Bond.

The world’s most famous fictional spy has always had the coolest gadgets, the most stylish clothes and the most beautiful cars, but outshining them all was the watch on his wrist. Whether an Omega Seamasater like it’s been for the past 30 years or one of his previous pieces from Rolex, Seiko or Breitling, Bond’s watches have always combined style, practicality and gadgetry like lasers and grappling hooks to make them the ultimate accessory for a globe-trotting playboy secret agent.

Since Omega took over as the sole producer of 007’s watches in 1995, the brand has made all of Bond’s screen-worn models available to the public, while also producing separate special editions related to the iconic cinematic hero. Of course, the one drawback of these real-life Bond watches is they lacked the innovative gadgets seen in the movies.

But is that about to change?

Could we be getting a real-life Omega Seamaster that lights up on-demand as seen in The World Is Not Enough?

Go go gadget watch

Today marks the season 2 premiere of 007: Road to a Million, Prime Video’s James Bond-inspired reality competition series. The show, hosted by actor Brian Cox, sees duos of contestants travel the world and compete in daring challenges that seem plucked out of a spy movie for a chance to win £1 million.

Season 1 received middling reviews and criticism that its Bond connections were tangential at best, but in the season 2 trailer, it looks like those critiques were taken to heart, with amped up action and more Bond vibes on display.

The Best Made-in-USA Loafer Toughens Up With a Distinctively American Leather

For all shoes that aren’t standard moccasins, a leather midsole is sewn to the bottom of the vamp, and the outsole is then stitched to the midsole. The shoe is unlined, but Rancourt inserts a leather insole to cover the stitching.

This method eliminates the vulnerability of stitching at the midsole level, resulting in a more water-resistant shoe. The upper also molds to the owner’s foot like a glove, creating a perfect fit over time.

Another technique Rancourt utilizes to achieve a better fit is punching the holes for the moc stitching by hand as the toe box is sewn. Most brands machine-punch the holes as the leather panels are cut.

America’s leather

Bison leather is tougher per density than cow leather, allowing Rancourt to use a more supple leather to achieve the quality it maintains. This will result in a smoother feel out of the box and a quicker break-in period.

Brown leather boat shoes with a textured pattern, featuring leather laces tied in bows on the top and around the sides, resting on a bed of small gray and black pebbles. The shoes have visible stitching along the edges and a light tan sole.
Rancourt uses solid brass eyelets and rawhide laces.

A Beloved Entry-Level Motorcycle Is Finally Returning to Our Shores

Riding the bike will be even easier than it was last decade thanks to an assist and slipper clutch, which limits back torque and makes the clutch lever more responsive, requiring just a light pull to engage and let you shift gears.

Also easing the riding experience are a curb weight of ~386 pounds and an approachable seat height of 30.9 inches, plus a forward-slanting seat and wide raised bars that lend themselves to a natural, comfortable riding position.

A person wearing a black and green Kawasaki motorcycle jacket, matching helmet, gloves, and dark pants is seated on a bright green Kawasaki Ninja 300 motorcycle. The motorcycle features black and white accents with yellow stripes, and has a sporty design with visible disc brakes and a large exhaust pipe. The background is an indoor setting with glass and metal railings.
The handlebars, seat and peg position combine to keep the riding position sporty but comfortable.
Kawasaki

The bike also offers petal disc brakes with dual-piston calipers as well as ABS, which will keep you from fishtailing in a hard braking situation.

One other thing I kind of dig is the large, analog tachometer between the bars, complemented by a multi-function LCD screen offering a speedometer, clock, fuel gauge, dual trip meters, odometer and fuel efficiency metrics.

Motorcycle dashboard featuring an analog tachometer with a redline starting at 13,000 RPM and a digital display showing speed (0 km/h), clock (12:00), trip meter (0.0), and fuel gauge. Indicator lights include turn signals, neutral, oil, battery, high beam, and warning icons. The ignition key is inserted in the lock below the dashboard.
I kind of love this huge tachometer, complemented by a few other bits of key data on the LCD screen.
Kawasaki

Seems like the perfect blend of old and new, which makes sense as the brand tries to lure new riders to an iconic sport bike nameplate with a history going back to 1984. You know, when the one-word key to the future was “Apple.”

Jeep’s Cherokee Makes a Boxy Comeback With a Bold Change Under the Hood

Interior of a Jeep vehicle featuring a black leather-wrapped steering wheel with control buttons, a digital instrument cluster, and a large touchscreen infotainment system displaying a navigation map. The cabin has light gray perforated leather seats, a center console with a rotary gear selector, cup holders, and climate control buttons below the screen. The dashboard and door panels combine light gray and black materials with contrast stitching.
The interior offers 30 percent more storage capacity thanks to space-saving measures like the rotary shifter.
Jeep

What’s more, in moving to the Stellantis STLA Large platform, the refreshed Cherokee has grown significantly compared to the previous generation. Along with measuring 6.5 inches longer between the wheels, it also spans over six inches longer from tip to tail.

In combination with space-saving features like a new rotary gear selector, this results in 30 percent more cargo capacity than the prior Cherokee model.

The Cherokee might be a modern hybrid SUV, but it carries the Jeep brand’s boxy look all the same.
Jeep

Long-haul hybrid efficiency

While there’s no denying that the visual updates make for a dramatic refresh, it’s the powertrain that’s likely to give Jeep fans a shock.

That’s because it’s a hybrid system comprising a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a pair of electric motors. Taken together, they put out 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque — that’s impressive, but it’s nothing compared to the SUV’s efficiency.

This Stunning Automatic Moonphase Watch Has No Business Being So Affordable

It is a Milanese-style steel bracelet, with tightly woven links that create a nearly solid surface with high flexibility. It is the most comfortable type of steel bracelet when properly executed — meaning the links don’t snag arm hair.

The other two strap options for all three dials are a black pebble-grain leather and a soft brown leather with contrasting white stitching. Both leather straps have steel folding clasps.

Baillod produces most parts in-house, aside from the movements. The Chapter 8 Moonphase runs on the Soprod caliber C105 automatic movement, which has a 42-hour power reserve.

The Chapter 8 Moonphase dial plate has a texture like fine-grain sandpaper that shimmers in direct light.
Baillod

Notably, Baillod created a fresh application of this time-tested movement by rotating it slightly. This retained the brand’s preferred crown placement of four o’clock, shifted the small seconds dial off-center and raised the moonphase window.

Six years in, Baillod introduces its first watch with near-universal appeal. The time-and-date Chapter 8, and more so the Moonphase, demonstrate the brand’s talent for creating luxury-level watches at affordable prices in a form that would look good on any man’s wrist day in and day out.

A Legendary Hi-Fi Company’s New Bookshelf Speakers Are Surprisingly Affordable

Dali is a high-end Danish hi-fi manufacturer with a history dating back to the early 1980s. The brand, which stands for “Danish Audiophile Loudspeaker Industries,” specializes in extremely high-end loudspeakers — its flagship Kore floorstanders, for example, command a price tag upwards of $120,000.

Flipping expectations on their head, the revered audio maker just announced an affordable pair of bookshelf speakers, named the Kupid, which it claims represent “a new entry point to genuine hi-fi sound.”

Dali

Entry-level price

Let’s start with the price — the Dali Kupid are £299 or €338 per pair, which comes out to around $400. It’s a far cry from the brand’s other most recent pair of bookshelf speakers, the Epikore 3, which go for $15,000.

Despite the accessible price, Dali claims that the Kupid loudspeakers share the same DNA as its higher-end Kore and Epikore loudspeaker lines, but “delivers it in a smaller, more approachable package ideal for modern living spaces.”

The five finishes: Black Ash, Walnut, Caramel White, Golden Yellow and Chilly Blue.

The North Face Launches Refined Takes on Some of Its Best Streetwear Staples

Streetwear fanatics have long adopted the North Face’s apparel and gear. However, the outdoor brand has recently been leaning further into that association itself.

In another major step in that direction, The North Face and New York-based brand Aimé Leon Dore have collided on a limited-edition collaboration that elevates some of the former brand’s most iconic staples.

This take on TNF’s Nuptse Jacket gets a high-end wool makeover.
Aimé Leon Dore

Icons reimagined

There are some obvious winners in this collection — namely, the upscale reimaginings of TNF’s iconic Nuptse and Denali jackets. While these staples bear their signature silhouettes, some significant material swaps make them feel brand-new.

For instance, the former (the Nuptse) boasts a completely reimagined exterior. Instead of nylon, it’s now made from Casentino Wool — a Tuscan classic — sourced from a venerated mill in southern Italy.

Those worried about the Nuptse’s weatherproofing need not fret, however, as the material’s “ratinatura” finish gives it thermal insulation and water repellency.

Tern Airstream Special Edition Bikes

A renowned specialty bike maker and an iconic RV brand have joined forces to zhuzh up a couple of the former’s two-wheelers in a way that could not be more on brand for the latter. That’s right, the bikes get not only Airstream logos but also the brand’s signature Aluminum Silver Finish, complementing their ultra-reliable Bosch Performance Drive Systems and other compelling qualities. The Tern Vektron S10 (shown) is a premium compact folding electric bike, combining portability with the performance of a full-sized e-bike. The HSD P5I, meanwhile, is a high-performance compact electric cargo bike that can handle heavy loads — including groceries and/or a child — yet remains relatively nimble.

Wandrd Rogue Sling V2

Wandrd has taken its most beloved EDC camera pack back to the drawing board, giving it a host of new upgrades and tweaks to make it better than ever. It has gotten a significant comfort revamp, seeing its strap swapped for a cushy EVA-padded one, and has been made more weatherproof, courtesy of better external materials and zippers. The two larger sizes even have expandable laptop sleeves, should you need a little tech-hauling in your sling bag.

Insta360 Go Ultra

The Insta360 Go Ultra is the company’s latest addition to its Go series of compact action cameras. Like the others, the Go Ultra has a two-piece modular system comprised of a thumb-sized camera that pops out of a rectangular body (called the “Action Pod”) with a viewfinder; you can attach the smaller camera to a mount or item of clothing and then view what it’s capturing on the viewfinder. Compared to its predecessor, last year’s Go 3S, the Go Ultra’s smaller camera has a new design — it’s more square than pill-shaped — and thus is slightly larger. This increased size has allowed Insta360 to give it a bigger battery and a microSD card slot (instead of relying on built-in storage). More importantly, it features a larger 1/1.28-inch sensor and is capable of shooting 4K videos at 60fps (the Go 3S maxed out at 4K 30fps). It also features a new ambient light sensor, which should improve its performance in low-light situations.

Glashütte Original

Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama “Plasma” and “Fusion”

After releasing a handsome panda-dialed version of the Seventies Chronograph Panorama, Glashütte Original revisits the retro watch to showcase the might of its newly opened dial manufacture. The watch gets two limited-edition colorways, lime-green “Plasma” and purple “Fusion,” both inspired by virtual worlds and limited to just 100 pieces each.

Relwen classed up the old-school snap neck pop-over, familiar to outdoor enthusiasts for generations, by blending it with a polo. The collar and chest pocket add an elevated touch to the ultra-versatile layer. It is made from a vertically quilted nylon-spandex shell with a mesh lining that balances insulation and ventilation. Underarm gussets are free of insulation to promote breathability. Long ribbed cuffs and deep split-tail side seams make it easy to get on and off and promote layering. It comes in navy blue, chalky white, steel gray and camo.

Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo

Opel’s Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo is a concept designed to showcase the future of the brand’s design language as it applies to EVs. Powered by a pair of electric motors, it would make 800 horsepower, accelerate to 60 mph in less than 2.0 seconds and be able deliver an additional 80 horsepower of boost at the touch of a button. Though not destined for production, Opel has worked with Gran Turismo to make this a playable concept car. It joins other futuristic Vision vehicles in Gran Turismo 7.

Ruroc AT4.0 Carbon Chrome and Eclipse Helmets

If the guys from Daft Punk got into motorcycling, these dazzling new brain buckets would be right up their alley. The Eclipse, meanwhile, is a dark knight laced with silver and blue metallic flecks, resembling a starlit blackout sky. Both helmets boast a lightweight carbon fiber shell, RHEON impact protection, easy-use Fidlock magnetic chin strapnand built-in compatibility with the Shockwave Bluetooth audio system. The Eclipse is available now while the Chrome arrives next month in limited quantities.

Patagonia’s Foundational Jacket Is a Steal Right Now (While Sizes Last)

Small details—like elastic cuffs, an adjustable hem you can cinch from inside the hand pockets, and a smooth-gliding zipper backed by a storm flap—underscore its thoughtful design.

Hands adjusting the blue drawstring toggle on the hem of a dark gray puffer jacket, worn over olive green pants. The jacket features a visible blue zipper on a pocket.Patagonia

Compared to synthetic standbys like the Nano Puff, the Down Sweater offers noticeably more loft and warmth, making it the better choice for truly cold, dry conditions.

It isn’t the jacket you grab for high-intensity pursuits in wet weather, but when you’re looking for reliable warmth on crisp mornings, winter commutes, or campfire nights, it’s the piece that delivers. It has long been a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts for its versatility, equally at home in the backcountry as it is layered over a flannel on a city street.

Pricing and Availability

A person wearing a long-sleeve black shirt is holding a compact, folded blue item with a zipper, likely a packable jacket or similar lightweight garment.
One of the jacket’s best hidden tricks is its ability to stuff down into its own pocket for easy packability.

If you’ve been eyeing the cozy weight and premium feel of Patagonia’s Down Sweater—especially in a seasonal hue—this sale window is your moment.

Patagonia’s Web Specials section is offering sizeable discounts on select Down Sweater styles for men and women. Retailers like REI also matching these markdowns in some cases while offering different styles and colors.

This Classic Retro Dive Watch Is Almost Unrecognizable After an Unexpected Makeover

Another smart move on this collab can be found in the model chosen. Rather than going for Doxa’s flagship Sub 300 or 300T, they went with the simpler Sub 200 skin diver. With its stripped-down layout, black ceramic bezel and classic retro vibes, the watch proves a perfect fit for the sandy dial. I especially like how the bronze color of the lumed fauxtina markers of the bezel complements the warm sandy tones of the dial.

The caseback has a map of the Caribbean colored blue via laser-induced oxidation to prevent fading.
Art of Time

The caseback also gets a special makeover here, with a blue map showcasing a map of the Caribbean, where St. Maarten is located. Doxa’s fish logo appears prominently in the center of the ocean, which has been colored blue with laser-induced oxidation that won’t fade over time. The pairing of sand on the front of the watch and sea on the back was a deliberate choice to tie the diver to Art of Time’s island home.

Pricing and availability

Like other Sub 200 divers, the watch boasts 200m of water resistance, a box sapphire crystal, a 42mm stainless steel case and a Sellita SW200 automatic movement inside. Unlike other Sub 200 divers, it’s limited to just 100 pieces, making this quite a rare watch.

Rarer still is the process one has to go through to purchase one. The watch is priced at $2,090, which includes a beads of rice bracelet and a black rubber strap, and it’s available exclusively through Art of Time — but you can’t purchase one on the store’s website. Instead, you have to email Art of Time at [email protected] to register your interest and, potentially, reserve a Doxa Sub 200 Dune for yourself.

This Tiny Bottle Opener Is Actually a Hardcore EDC Multi-Tool in Disguise

But the second part is focused on emergency use — the tool was designed with first responders, like EMTs, in mind. See that little bump on the end of the finger ring? That’s a tungsten carbide ball made for glass breaking.

But those are just two of its many functions. Others include an oxygen tank wrench (another emergency-focused feature), a pocket driver slot, a 10mm wrench, lashing holes and more.

Yes, that’s a hex bit driver pocket on the tool’s underside.

Titanic toughness

The BoB Tool’s array of features is a lot more impressive when you realize it has no moving parts whatsoever. In fact, it’s made out of a single piece of solid titanium.

That means you need not worry about seams, welds or any other structural weaknesses when putting it through its paces.

This Fan-Favorite Brand Just Released the Ultimate Version of Its Military-Issue Pilot’s Watch

Fit for service

Marathon’s SSNAV Type II is not a typical pilot’s watch. It does not look like the German flieger style that dominates the category, and could easily be mistaken for a dive watch.

A wristwatch with a white dial, black bezel, and black strap is worn on a person's wrist. The watch features black hour markers with green luminous accents, a red second hand, and a date window. The bezel has white numerals and markings, and the watch case is silver-toned. The person is wearing a beige or light brown textured fabric sleeve.
The SSNAV Type II has a lug-to-lug crown guard and a 12-hour bi-directional bezel.
Marathon

The watch was designed in 1986 in collaboration with Canada’s Kelly Air Force Base. It contains pilot-friendly features like a lug-to-lug crown guard and a bidirectional rotating bezel with a 12-hour scale, rather than the 60-minute variety found on dive watches.

Much like a dive watch, the SSNAV Type II is designed to withstand hard impacts and extreme changes in pressure, except that the atmospheric pressure gets lighter as pilots ascend.

One of the watch’s most useful innovations is found throughout Marathon’s catalog. The hour markers, hands and bezel pip are fitted with tritium gas tubes that emit a constant, steady glow. They are all green except for the 12 o’clock marker, which is orange to guide orientation.

I’ve Never Seen the Quintessential American Knife Look This Good (and EDC-Friendly) at This Price

Said blade is made of Artisan Cutlery/CJRB’s proprietary AR-RPM9, an affordable knife steel known for its edge retention, corrosion resistance and sharpening ease.

Rounding things out is a steel pocket clip that is reversible for ambidextrous carry.

Four folding knives with different handle designs are arranged side by side on a wooden surface. The first knife has a black blade and an olive green handle with black accents. The second and third knives have silver blades with copper bolsters; the second has a dark wood handle, and the third has a reddish wood handle. The fourth knife has a silver blade with a gray bolster and a black textured handle. Two pine cones are placed above the knives on a wooden board.

Dimension-wise, the whole unit weighs 3.99 ounces and measures 7.32 inches long. That may be a little smaller than what you’d want in, say a riverbed battle, but it’s just what you need for handy, head-turning everyday carry.

Timex Just Elevated Its Most Unique Affordable Vintage Reissue

Who doesn’t love a good mystery dial?

Somewhat popular in the mid-twentieth century but rather rare today, mystery dial watches feature hands that mysteriously “float” around the dial, with no clear attachment to any sort of mechanism that drives them.

Most mystery dials use center-mounted transparent discs to achieve this illusion, but Timex’s 1970s-era enigma and the modern-day reissue that debuted last year, use a simpler approach with hands painted to match the color of the dial save for their hi-vis tips, and a round sticker on the underside of the crystal that’s also the color of the dial.

The Q Timex Enigma creates the illusion that its hands are floating on the dial.
Timex

While the effect isn’t quite as mysterious as a mystery dial with transparent discs, the Timex still looks cool. And I must not be the only person who thinks so, because the brand just launched a new elevated version of the Q Timex Enigma.

Hidden treasure

The new Q Timex Enigma is exactly the same as the one launched last summer, save for one difference: gooooooolllld.

OK, it isn’t real gold, of course. The watch’s case and bracelet are made of stainless steel, and they’ve been given a gold-tone finish. Most of the time, I think gold-tone finishes look pretty tacky, but I actually like the way this looks. The black dial, floating red seconds dot and the dial’s gold text and markings all pair very nicely with the glitzier case and bracelet. Plus, the gold tone really ups the watch’s ’70s vibes, which is almost never a bad thing.

One of Spyderco’s Best Knives Gets a Lighter, More Affordable Edition

At its core, this is still very much a Shaman.

It also still has a four-position reversible pocket clip, so users can carry it left- or right-handed, as well as tip-up or tip-down.

Other, smaller details also remain, like the handle’s ergonomics, jimping on the bolster at the spine and finger groove, and more. Perhaps obviously, the knife also has the brand’s signature Round Hole for manual deployment.

Black folding pocket knife with a stainless steel blade, a circular thumb hole near the base of the blade, and a metal clip attached to the handle. The handle has a textured surface and is secured with multiple screws.

Going through changes

The biggest changes in this edition of the Shaman can be found in its materials. Both the blade and handle have seen swaps.

The blade is now made from CTS BD1N, instead of the brand’s proprietary CPM SPY27. While this technically means the blade is slightly less high-end, it’s not a difference most EDC fans will notice in practice.

Herman Miller Eames Molded Plastic Dining Chair

The two most magical words in the world of furniture are “Eames Chair.” Virtually all of the seats designed in the mid-twentieth century by Charles and Ray Eames have reached iconic status, from the grail-worthy Eames Lounge Chair to the classic LCW. First debuting in 1970 and discontinued in 1993, the EC-127 — better known as the Eames Molded Plastic Dining Chair — was created by the pair to be a more durable, upholstered version of the designers’ Molded Plywood Dining Chair. Now, Herman Miller, in collaboration with the Eames Office, has resurrected the EC-127, with the new version being made from 99 percent post-industrial recycled plastic in a variety of colors inspired by the shades the Eameses used on a prototype of “The Toy.” The new EC-127 is also, for the first time, available in non-upholstered versions as well as upholstered, with the upholstery options including Eames contemporary Alexander Girard’s Hopsak pattern that was available on the original 1970 chair.

Terra Kaffe

Terra Kaffe TK Demi

This stunning coffee machine is about the same size as pod coffee makers. But there’s one major difference: this one is fully automatic. That means it can make the whole gamut of coffee types — espresso, americano, drip and more — while also offering self-cleaning. Really, all you have to do is make sure you keep it loaded with fresh beans. You can even customize your drink with the machine’s simple, intuitive controls. Homebrew will never be the same again.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the company’s next-gen foldable smartphone and the star of its Pixel 10 lineup. The most unique thing about the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is that it holds the distinction of being the only foldable with an IP68 rating, meaning it’s completely protected from both dust and water. Compared to last year’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the new model has a faster processor, smaller bezels and a larger front display. It’s available for preorder now, with shipping starting October 9th.

Google Pixel Watch 4

Google’s next-generation smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 4, has numerous upgrades over last year’s Pixel Watch 3. It features a brighter, curvier “domed” display with thinner bezels — the brand claims this gives it a 10 percent larger visible screen area. It also has a longer battery life and supports faster charging. It comes in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, and is available for preorder now. Shipping starts October 9th.

Totem Automobili GT Super Sport Prototipo

Alfa Romeo restomod specialist Totem Automobili has unveiled its final GT Super-based creation. Dubbed the ‘Sport Prototipo,’ it features a 740-horsepower 3.2-liter twin-turbo V6, beautifully sculpted wide-body aerodynamics and plenty of carbon fiber in the wheels, brakes, seats and center console. Just 10 examples are slated to be built.

Ten Thousand Foundation Collection

Back in the day, the Foundation Short was one of Ten Thousand’s original hardcore strength training products. While that item has since evolved into the rugged Rep Short, the Foundation name lives on in this new family of good-looking high-performance shirts and shorts intended for everyday use. Available in four understated colorways, the tees are soft, stretchy and moisture-wicking, while the shorts boast a lightweight, breathable shell, ultra-comfortable liner and purpose-built pockets that won’t slow you down, whether you’re blasting through a HIIT workout or running around town.

Lee

Lee x Crayola Chore Jacket

Lee teamed up with Crayola for a collection of vintage-inspired workwear in classic crayon colors. It includes t-shirts, hoodies and overalls, but the highlight is a matching set of work pants and a chore jacket. The retro hickory stripe fabric has been overdyed in Magic Ming and Violet Blue. The jacket has four patch pockets and reinforced cuffs with rivet buttons throughout. The collar button, top cuff buttons and pocket rivets are painted to match the Crayola color.

Did Crocs Finally Improve Upon the Classic Shoe They Were Designed to Beat?

Long before they entered the world of fashion — and even before they were adopted by chefs, line cooks and other kitchen staff — Crocs clogs were designed for a somewhat surprising purpose.

Their creators thought that, due to their proprietary construction, lightness, quick drying and waterproofing, they were perfect for aquatic adventures.

The brand’s latest launch, the Crocs Classic Boat Shoes (or “Croat Shoes,” as I’ve been calling them), harkens back to those original intentions in a novel, unique way. And I can tell you from personal experience that they are far better than I ever expected.

A pair of feet wearing brown and tan water-resistant boat shoes standing in shallow water with visible rocks underneath. The shoes have laces and ventilation holes, and the person is wearing black pants rolled up at the cuffs.
Believe it or not, Crocs were originally designed for waterborne activities.

Saltwater Crocs

This new take on the brand’s Classic Clog combines the brand’s best array of features with the styling of another waterborne classic. While the outsole and upper are all Crocs, the collar and lacing are borrowed from boat shoes — like Sperry’s.

While your initial impression might be somewhere in the realm of incredulous aversion, as mine was, I have to say that the styling has quickly grown on me. As much as I didn’t want to admit it, these work.

Hoka’s New Hiking Boot Fuses Super-Shoe Tech with Eye-Catching Style

As they say on the Appalachian Trail, the trail always provides. So, too, does Hoka.

Released earlier this year, the Mafate X introduced super-shoe technology to the brand’s flagship trail runner, pairing two layers of foam — one PEBA, the other supercritical EVA — with a carbon-fiber plate.

That combination was a first for the Mafate, which debuted some 15 years ago. However, it wasn’t the last.

The brand-new Mafate X Hike sees the formula extend to a bona fide hiking boot. That said, this is much more than an ankle-high version of the shoe.

The Mafate X Hike is Hoka’s most technical boot to date, combining super-shoe tech with cutting-edge safety features.
Hoka

Support, stability, safety

The model does sit atop a dual-foam cushioning system paired with a carbon-fiber plate, delivering a snappy ride with minimal added weight. Yet that’s where the similarities between the shoe and the boot stop.

On the upper, the Mafate X Hike features a neoprene tongue that wraps around the ankle, effectively working like a built-in gaiter that gives it both support and protection from trail debris.

After Six Long Years, Ricoh’s Legendary EDC Camera Has Finally Leveled Up

Ricoh has finally released its next-generation photographers’ compact camera, the GR IV.

It’s the latest and long-awaited successor in a beloved line of enthusiast cameras that have long held a cult status among photographers, especially street shooters who prize speed, stealth, and simplicity over flashy specs.

Ricoh launched the first GR as a 35mm film camera in the mid-’90s. A digital version followed in 2004, and ever since, the GR line has been celebrated by many photography enthusiasts as the anti-DSLR — a pocket-sized camera with pro-level image quality.
Ricoh

First introduced as a compact film camera in the 1990s, the GR quickly became known for its sharp fixed 28mm lens, discreet design, and intuitive controls.

Over the years, that DNA carried through to digital versions, and the GR earned a reputation as the anti-DSLR: a camera small enough to disappear in a pocket, but powerful enough to capture pro-grade images on the fly.

The previous GR was introduced in 2018 and didn’t go on sale until early 2019. As such, Ricoh GR fans have waited at least six years for Ricoh to modernize the camera once again.
Ricoh

Part of the line’s allure is that it’s always felt like a shooter’s camera, not a gadget. Unlike phones or bigger mirrorless rigs, it asks photographers to commit to a focal length and rewards them with speed, sharpness, and rich, dynamic images in the right hands.

That focus has built a loyal base of fans — many of whom evangelize the GR as the ultimate everyday carry, a tool for photographers who want to be ready when life happens.

Here’s what you need to know about the new GR IV and how it differs from its predecessor.

Here’s my first impression video of this impressive compact.
