How in the World Is This Dazzling Spyderco Knife So Affordable?

You don’t need a huge, honking EDC knife to perform most everyday cutting tasks well. In fact, larger knives can sometimes be a detriment to your loadout, depending on how heavy and sizable they are.

There’s definitely something to be said for much more compact knives. That goes double when they come from a beloved, time-tested, trusted brand.

Case in point, the Spyderco Bug Nickel Silver Abalone is positively tiny. However, it’s also jam-packed with style, substance and quality craftsmanship. Perhaps more exciting, however, is how dirt-cheap it is.

This is the latest (and greatest) take on the brand’s smallest folder, the Bug.
Spyderco

Snug as a bug

The Bug has been in Spyderco’s catalog for some time. It also holds the crown for the smallest folder the brand offers.

In total, this tiny titan measures a mere 2.91 inches in length. For reference, that slots right between the average lengths of a standard house key and a car key. Yet, despite its stoutness, this is a fully capable cutting tool.

23 New Watches You Missed from Seiko, Timex, Hamilton and More

From afar, the watch industry may seem unhurried. But every passing day brings about new timepieces from brands big, small, new and old.

Below, find about a dozen new releases from the likes of Hamilton, Zenith and others.

Together, they show an industry that never stops ticking — and, centuries later, can still find the time to surprise you.

The watch face is a gradient from light gray at the top to black at the bottom, featuring minimalist black hour, minute, and small second hands without any numerals or markers. The bezel is smooth and polished, contrasting with the rough texture of the bracelet and case.Bulgari

Bulgari Octo Finissimo Lee Ufan Special Edition

When it was introduced in 2017, the Octo Finissimo was hailed as the thinnest automatic watch in the world. That record has been broken, but Bulgari has kept the Octo Finissimo fresh by inviting esteemed artists to use it as a canvas. Korean sculptor and painter Lee Ufan applied his contrast of natural and man-made beauty by creating a mesmerizing dial that emulates a reflective surface. It is juxtaposed against a titanium case and bracelet hand-scored with randomly placed overlapping lines.

Citizen

Citizen Tsuyosa 60

Citizen upgrades its Tsuyosa integrated sports watch with a textured dial, Jubilee-style bracelet, gold-tone finishes and a new automatic movement boasting a premium finish and 60 hours of power.

Stainless steel wristwatch with a green textured dial featuring two red subdials, one for seconds and one for power reserve. The watch has white hour markers and hands, a day display below the 12 o'clock position, and a date window at 6 o'clock. The outer edge of the dial shows months and week numbers. The bracelet is stainless steel with polished center links.Oris

Oris Big Crown Calibre 113

Oris installed one of its most interesting in-house movements, caliber 113, in the newly redesigned Big Crown series. Along with the central time and small seconds, it is equipped with an uncommon business calendar complication. This includes the day and date in separate windows and a 52-week calendar track along the outer rim of the dial, indicated by an arrow-tipped hand. The other stand-out feature is the hand-wound movement’s 10-day power reserve, which is monitored by Oris’s patented non-linear power reserve meter at three o’clock.

Another week down, and, per usual, a bunch of new tech and gadgets have been announced.

This past week, Bose introduced its new QuietComfort Ultra headphones, Technics revealed two entry-level direct-drive turntables, and Klipsch debuted an outdoor hi-fi system. But that’s just scratching the surface.

Below, we’ve rounded up all the most interesting new releases and announcements you might have missed from the past week.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen)

Bose’s flagship wireless noise-canceling headphones, the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen), are a new-and-improved version of their 2023-released predecessors. They look basically identical, but Bose upgraded them with improved sound and ANC, as well as better battery life and on-ear detection. Most notably, these second-gen models support lossless audio via a USB-C wired connection.

Technics

Technics SL-40CBT

The Technics SL-40CBT is another one of the brand’s affordable direct-drive turntables. It features classic Technics attributes — such as the iron-coreless direct drive motor and the high-precision S-shaped aluminum tonearm — but has an MDF wood construction and a refined aesthetic that is a better fit for today’s homes.  The SL-40CBT features a switchable moving-magnetic phono preamplifier, so you can connect it directly to a powered speaker setup or a traditional hi-fi system. Additionally, it has built-in Bluetooth, which allows it to stream your vinyl records to a pair of wireless headphones or speakers.

Technics SL-50C

The Technics SL-50C is one of the Japanese hi-fi maker’s new entry-level, direct-drive turntables. It features classic characteristics of a Technics turntable, such as the iron-coreless direct drive motor and the high-precision S-shaped aluminum tonearm. But instead of a traditional aluminum die-cast chassis, it features minimalist MDF wood construction with a high-quality finish. The brand claims this refined aesthetic is a better fit for contemporary homes. The SL-50C lacks fancy features or a built-in phono preamp, but has been decked out with a high-end Ortofon 2M Red cartridge.

Arcam

Arcam A5+, A15+, A25+ Integrated Amplifiers

Arcam has introduced new-and-improved versions of its A5, A15 and A25 stereo integrated amplifiers, which were just released in 2023. The “Plus” versions feature updated circuitry and better power management, resulting in superior performance. Each model still supports Bluetooth, allowing you to stream music to your system, but they now support aptX Lossless, LE Audio and Auracast. And the two larger amplifiers, the A15+ and A25+, how feature HDMI eARC, so you can integrated them into home theater setup.

Sony IER-EX15C

Sony’s IER-EX15C are in-ear wired headphones with a USB-C connection, making them ideal for use with today’s smartphones and laptops. They feature compact 5mm drivers and an in-line remote for controlling volume and playback. Additionally, its textured cable serrated finish is designed to prevent tangling. At just $30, you can think of it as a hassle-free alternative to your AirPods or wireless headphones. Available in four colors: black, white, blue and pink.

Lenco LBT-515

The Lenco LBT-515 is the Swiss audio manufacturer’s most high-end turntable to date. The direct-drive turntable features a switchable built-in phono preamplifier, allowing you to easily connect it to a set of powered speakers or an existing hi-fi system. It also supports Bluetooth, so you can stream vinyl to your wireless headphones or speakers. The turntable comes in one wooden finish and will cost £580, making it approximately $780.

Goldmund

Goldmund Telos 670

The Telos 670 is an ultra-high-end stereo integrated amplifier in the traditional sense. It combines a power amplifier and a preamplifier into a single box. There are no built-in streaming capabilities. The amp is capable of delivering 215 watts per channel into 8 ohms, which the Swiss audio manufacturer claims should be enough to drive a pair of high-end loudspeakers “with effortless authority.” It’s priced at £22,500, which comes out to just over $30,000.

Klipsch Courtyard Landscape Speaker System

Klipsch’s Courtyard Landscape Speaker System is a 4.1-channel system, consisting of four horn-loaded satellite speakers and a low-profile subwoofer, that is designed for hi-fi in your backyard. Additionally, the system is expandable. You can buy a two-pack of additional satellite speakers … or combine two complete Courtyard Landscape Speaker Systems to create, according to the brand, “the ultimate 8.2 outdoor system.”

JBL

JBL Grip

The Grip is a small, cylindrical-shaped portable Bluetooth speaker that’s actually pretty similar to the JBL Flip 7 ($150), which is arguably its most popular portable speaker. The difference? The Grip is about half the size. Additionally, the Grip has an integrated LED light strip on its spine that can be used as a lantern for late-night reading (or grilling?), which is pretty unique.

JBL Boombox 4

JBL’s Boombox is the largest portable rugged Bluetooth speaker that the company makes — note, this is not counting its line of Party speakers, which are massive. The Boombox 4 is an upgraded version of the Boombox 3, which was released in 2022. It features the same boombox-style design, but is two pounds lighter and promises 50 percent more power. Additionally, JBL enhanced it with new audio technologies, such as AI Sound Boost and Auracast (for multi-room functionality). It also supports lossless audio playback via a wired USB-C connection. Available in four finishes: black, blue, white and camo.

Mophie Max Headphones Charging Stand

Mophie’s desktop accessory serves dual purposes, acting as both an upside-down headphone stand for Apple’s AirPods Max and a charging station. Inside one of the earcup cradles is a special dongle that magnetically connects to the AirPods Max and wirelessly charges them — note, it only works with the new AirPods Max with a USB-C charging port. Additionally, there’s a Qi2 wireless charging pad on its base that can simultaneously charge your AirPods or iPhone.

Hoka’s Latest “King of Cushion” Shoe Is Surprisingly Already on Sale

Hoka’s Bondi line has long been the brand’s crown jewel of max-cushion running shoes. Beloved by marathoners, weekend warriors, and even folks who want supreme comfort on daily walks, it’s consistently been one of the company’s most popular silhouettes.

When Hoka introduced the Bondi 9 late last year, the update cemented its reputation as its flagship plush trainer. Which is why it’s a surprise to see it already on sale in at least one fall-ready colorway.

The new “King of Cushion”

Does the Bondi 9 look foamier to you? Compared to the Bondi 8, it added an extra 2mm to its already generous stack height.
Hoka

The Bondi 9 builds on the already impressive Bondi 8 with a higher stack, more responsive cushioning, and a sleeker overall design. A two-millimeter boost in midsole height gives it even more plush underfoot feel, while new super-critical EVA foam lightens the shoe without sacrificing support.

Hoka

Hoka’s signature MetaRocker geometry helps smooth transitions, and a redesigned knit upper improves airflow on longer efforts. These updates make the Bondi 9 softer and more efficient, solidifying its “King of Cushion” nickname.

This is also why the experts at RunRepeat gave the shoe a “Great” score of 90% in their review.

My Grail Everyday Watch Just Blew My Mind with Its Most Impressive Version Yet

I’ve waxed poetic about Moser’s Pioneer before. The watch is my (semi-)attainable grail everyday watch thanks to its unsurpassed combination of beauty, sportiness, elegance, robustness, wearability and horological chops.

But at the end of the day, the Pioneer is still a Moser, which means every now and then, the Schaffhausen-based independent brand throws some wild complication onto the watch that takes it to an entirely new level of desirability.

We’ve seen Pioneers with skeletonized cylindrical tourbillons, perpetual calendars and retrograde seconds displays — all water-resistant to 120m and just as capable as the standard time-only versions, but a lot more impressive.

Now, Moser has crafted what could be its most impressive version of the Pioneer yet with a brand-new flying hours complication that’s almost too cool to believe.

Rose gold Moser wristwatch with a black starry dial resembling a night sky, featuring a unique circular design with three cutouts and a black rubber strap. The watch has a black crown and a sleek, modern look.
Moser’s latest Pioneer is its craziest yet.
H. Moser & Cie.

I believe I can fly

Moser has released a flying hours complication before. Back in 2018, the brand launched the Endeavour Flying Hours. The dress watch featured three windows surrounding a rotating minute disc, and the hours would gradually change from one to the next, with one hour fading out as another faded in.

This version of the complication was similar to the more common “wandering” or “satellite” hours complications seen on watches like the Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Starwheel and, like, half of Urwerk’s collection. It’s a cool, innovative way to read the time, but with multiple hours visible at once, it definitely isn’t the easiest.

New Balance Just Gave This Mainstay Sneaker a Tough, Military-Born Upgrade

This extra-tough variant of the 1906R takes traditional waterproofing to the next level.

New Balance

Every product is carefully selected by our editors. If you buy from a link, we may earn a commission. Learn more

New Balance has toyed with the concept of a military-grade sneaker for the better part of a year.

Rumors of a 1906M began swirling in late 2024, with fans of the brand speculating that the “M” stood for military.

It wasn’t totally baseless — the brand has a history of manufacturing sneakers for the Department of Defense — but the shoe never materialized.

Recent colorways of the 990v6 and 992 (pictured) were military-inspired but only in appearance.
New Balance

The closest we got were military-inspired colorways of the 992 and 990v6, which saw the classic designs take on hues that didn’t get cute about the source of their influence — “Dark Camo” and “Covert Green.”

Now, however, we’re one step closer a true military-grade New Balance, one that goes beyond surface-level aesthetics.

The 1906R levels up its rank with the addition of Primaloft insulation.
New Balance

Warm welcome

Soon, the stalwart 1906R will gear up for winter with a trifecta of new variants — each one equipped with Primaloft insulation.

Though common in civilian outdoor products, such as jackets and sleeping bags, Primaloft was an US Army-born innovation developed in the 1980s.

Primaloft dates back to the 1980s, when the US Military developed it as a synthetic alternative to down.
New Balance
Sole of an olive green New Balance shoe with a textured tread pattern featuring hexagonal and diamond shapes, black grooves, and a small red oval detail near the arch.
Even without Primaloft, the 1906R is one of New Balance’s toughest and most technical everyday sneakers.
New Balance

Since then it’s made its way into hundreds of brands’ catalogs, where it serves as a synthetic alternative to traditional down with one major advantage: it can still keep you warm when wet.

Utilized here across the upper of the 1906R in conjunction with a ripstop face fabric, Primaloft has essentially turned the technical everyday sneaker into a true winter warrior that takes traditional waterproofing to the next level.

Primaloft is packed in throughout the upper, which also features a new ripstop face fabric.
New Balance
The new 1906R sneakers comes in three colors: olive green, dark gray and black (pictured).
New Balance

Availability and pricing

Staying in line with the established theme, this version of the 1906R is set to release in three military-adjacent colorways: black, “Dark Olive” and “Castlerock” gray.

It’s expected to drop later this fall with a retail price of $155 via New Balance’s official website and at select retail partners.

America Is Finally Getting the Manual Sports Car That Enthusiasts Have Been Craving

A manual transmission will look so much more at home in this interior.
Nissan

At the end of Q2, Nissan had sold some 3,789 Zs compared to Toyota’s 1,231 Supras. While there’s no denying that the latter is at the end of its life cycle, it’s nevertheless an impressive delta.

Moreover, considering the ceiling of the GR Supra’s expense, the addition of a manual option to the Nismo should only help Nissan sway more potential Toyota buyers.

Nissan is keen to right the ship, so a manual Z Nismo should help build rapport among enthusiasts.

Possibilities and timeline

At this stage, Nissan has made no comment as to the timeline for a manual Z Nismo. However, as Carbuzz observed, the lack of an option on 2026 order forms suggests that it will be 2027 before the model gets a six-speed.

In the meantime, if you’d like to learn more about the Z line, you can head to Nissan’s website. The base Sport model currently starts at $42,970, while the Performance and Nismo start at $52,970 and $65,750, respectively.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class Cabriolet

Mercedes-Benz has announced the revival of the G-Class Cabriolet. The last time the Three-Pointed Star built a droptop G, it took the form of the ultra-luxurious Maybach G650, and it featured a retractable Landaulet-style roof. Though Mercedes-Benz hasn’t confirmed a timeline, the G-Class is due for an update soon — it may arrive as early as 2026.

Furlan Marri

Furlan Marri Disco Volante Onyx Diamonds

Roughly one year after Swiss-based microbrand Furlan Marri rescued the retro “Disco Volante” (Italian for “Flying Saucer”) watch style from the dustbin of history, the brand has launched what is essentially a black-tie version of the model. The Disco Onyx Diamonds features a dial made of black onyx stone and adorned with baguette-cut lab-grown diamond indices — 0.12 carats’ worth. The round stainless steel case, with its unique integrated crown, measures 38mm across and is just 8.1mm thick thanks to the hand-wound Peseux Cal. 7001 manual-wind movement inside, which has received extensive custom hand-finishing by the brand. The watch includes both soft steel mesh and black leather straps and retails for CHF 3,500, which at launch equates to around $4,384. It’s limited to 100 pieces.

A bottle of Valdespino Vermouth Origen with a red label is floating above two rocks. Surrounding it are two upside-down martini glasses, one with a lemon wedge and a cinnamon stick, and a glass with ice cubes and dark liquid. There are also a few cloves floating near the bottle, all set against a red background.Valdespino

Valdespino x The Macallan Origen Vermouth

According to Jonah Flicker at Robb Report, The Macallan is venturing beyond whisky with the launch of Origen, a premium vermouth created in partnership with the historic sherry house Valdespino. Debuting this October, Origen blends fortified wine tradition with The Macallan’s expertise in oak maturation, delivering a layered profile that nods to both heritage and innovation. Designed to elevate the apéritif experience, it reflects the distillery’s expanding ambitions outside single malt, while maintaining its commitment to craftsmanship and character. This bold move signals a fresh chapter in The Macallan’s pursuit of flavor.

J.Crew 1983 Barn Jacket In Indigo-Dyed Canvas

We’ve seen many iterations of J.Crew’s heralded Barn Jacket, but this indigo-dyed canvas version is arguably the best. It is made from the standard 100% cotton canvas but dyed in natural indigo for a warm blue. Like a good pair of jeans, it will fade and patina with age. The collar is lined with brown corduroy, and the body is fully lined with a green, white and blue cotton tartan fabric. It is equipped with the definitive overlapping double-patch pockets and adjustable cuff tabs.

MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase “Moonshine Gold”

At first glance, the latest MoonSwatch looks identical to the one released in early August. And for the most part it is, right down to the navy blue Bioceramic case, white opaline dial and our ol’ pal Snoopy, donning a space helmet. But for this one-off variant, Swatch added a popcorn motif to one of the moonphase discs — a nod to September’s full moon, also known as the Harvest or Corn Moon. The watch will only be available the day after the full moon — September 8, 2025 — at select Swatch stores.

This Ultra-Capable Iteration of an Iconic Dive Watch Just Got More Wearable

The Sea Emerald and Searambler stand out with radial brushed textures, while the rest have flat glossy dials. Each watch is available on a rubber dive strap that matches the dial color, except for the steel Searambler, which uses black.

Another notable difference in color is that the Sharkhunter, Searambler, and Caribbean models use an orange minute hand, while the rest of the collection has uniform black hands. However, they all have the same Super-LumiNova and the printed hour markers on all three hands.

Doxa stuck with Sellita for the new SUB 750T’s movement, but this time, it is the caliber SW300 rather than the caliber SW200. The only performance difference is an increased power reserve of 56 hours.

The Sharkhunter, Searambler and Caribbean models use an orange minute hand.
Doxa

This new regular production SUB 750T adds another layer of depth to the fan-favorite SUB series, offering a larger and more capable option. It has the same look and color options as its recently updated smaller family members.

It would have been nice to see a little something unique added to this ultra-capable SUB, but I suppose that’s what the limited edition Clive Cussler reference is for.

Two Chronograph Icons May Have Just Changed the Watch Industry Forever

An iconic pair

To show off its new carbon hairspring technology, TAG Heuer has tapped the most extravagant versions of its two greatest icons — the Monaco Flyback Chronograph and Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Extreme Sport — and given them both carbon-drenched makeovers.

Both watches feature cases, pushers and crowns made of forged carbon, with the Carrera also receiving a tachymeter bezel in the lightweight composite material. Both dials are also made of carbon fiber featuring a snailed pattern inspired by the coil of their hairsprings.

The TH-Carbonspring will debut in an all-carbon version of the Monaco Flyback Chronograph.
TAG Heuer

The two watches both follow the same monochromatic template, with black subdials, applied black carbon indices, black gold hands and white lacquered chronograph seconds hands. Both also feature sapphire crystals front and back, along with Super-LumiNova lume on their hands (and indices, in the case of the Carrera).

Both watches come on black rubber straps with black DLC titanium folding clasps. The Monaco’s strap has a woven textile-like finish, while the Carrera’s strap has a more traditional rubber look and features a carbon fiber end link. The Monaco measures 39mm across and 14.1mm thick, while the Carrera is 44mm across and 15.4mm tall. Both watches are water resistant to 100m.

A Beloved Japanese Hi-Fi Maker’s New Audiophile Turntables Are Unexpectedly Affordable

Technics is best known for its direct-drive turntables. In fact, it made the world’s first direct-drive turntable, the SP-10, in the early 1970s, which then paved the way for the SL-1200 a few years later, which is one of the most iconic turntables of all time.

Today, the iconic Japanese audio manufacturer makes a wide range of hi-fi components and speakers, but it’s still renowned for its elite direct-drive turntables, most of which are aimed at true audiophiles (with deep pockets). As an example, Technics’ current flagship, the SL100R, currently goes for $25,000.

However, this week at CEDIA, Technics announced two more affordable direct-drive turntables, which it claims are “aimed at both newcomers and those upgrading from entry setups.”

Technics SL-40CBT / SL-50C

A white Technics turntable with a black platter mat and tonearm, placed on a light gray concrete surface. To the left, there is a potted plant with green leaves, and above the turntable, part of a framed artwork is visible on the white wall. Below the surface, there are some books or records partially visible.
The Technics SL-40CBT (shown) and Technics SL-50C look basically identical, with the main visual difference being the cartridge. The SL-40CBT features comes with an Audio-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge, which goes for roughly $50.
Technics

Classic Technics characteristics

Technics is introducing two new affordable direct-drive turntables, the SL-40CBT and the SL-50C, both of which look nearly identical at first glance. They cost exactly the same, as well.

The two models maintain the classic characteristics of a Technics turntable, such as the iron-coreless direct drive motor and the high-precision S-shaped aluminum tonearm.

A Tool Watch This Wonderfully Overbuilt Shouldn’t Look Nearly This Good

The single-piece case is made of a carbon fiber composite developed specifically for Oris by 9T Labs, a Zurich-based engineering firm specializing in advanced aeronautical and automotive materials.

Carbon fiber is also used on the dial, while the case back and crowns are PVD-coated titanium, creating a uniform deep space black background for the neon dial details.

My god, it’s full of lume

In a press release, Bamford explains, “We’re taking [the ProPilot Altimeter] on a space odyssey with Lieutenant Audley, Kubrick-style,” referring to the 1969 film. For a more contemporary audience, the watch looks like a prop from the FX series Alien: Earth.

Black Oris ProPilot Altimeter wristwatch with yellow and green markings on the dial, featuring a black textured strap with yellow stitching on the inner side, displayed against a green background with a yellow geometric structure.
The ProPilot Altimeter ‘Mission Control’ uses yellow, green and red lume to emulate a glowing instrument panel.
Oris

Green and yellow are still the key reference colors for the altimeter, located around the dial’s outer rim. The red indicators calibrate the instrument before use, and the outermost neon yellow scale tracks altitude up to 19,700 feet.

Singer Reimagined Caballero

Singer Reimagined, the luxury watch offshoot of famed Porsche modifier Singer Vehicle Design, is known for its advanced chronograph watches. This makes sense, given the complication’s long, entangled history with motorsports. Now, the brand has launched its first time-only watch — but it’s anything but simple. Described as a “Solotempo” watch, the Cabellero features a plain lacquered dial and three three-hand layout, with an applied Singer logo at 12:00 appearing as the only text. Four exposed jewels on the dial hint at something more intriguing, which is fully exposed in the stunning Cal. ST5000 when you turn the watch over. Driven by a whopping four main barrels, the movement is fine-tuned to deliver consistent chronometric power across six full days. Singer calls it horological horsepower; I just call it beautiful engineering.

BioLite Range 400

BioLite has been one of the top names in the game for headlamps for years, now — largely because the brand continues to improve upon its product lineup. The latest iterations are finally here, and they’re better than their predecessors in nearly every way. Now, they charge up to 5x faster than the competition (eight minutes for a full hour), the user interface is streamlined and even easier to operate than before and they’re built to IP67 waterproof standards. Of course, they still have a bevy of other outstanding features, like a comfortable adjustable fit, light weight, numerous lighting modes and more.

To celebrate the grand opening of its second Miami location, Rivian has created a one-off, custom-designed R1S Tri-Motor. Along with vibrant teal and pink accents, the EV features a set of special disc wheel covers and some bold side stripes. It’ll be on display at the Brickell showroom, and Rivian has stated that the initiative hints at how it will continue to push design going forward.

Seiko’s Best Affordable Dress Watch Is Even Classier With a Brand-First Strap Design

It’s a brilliant move because the soft, supple leather used for dress shoes is virtually identical to that used for watch straps. The panel sizes required to make two-piece straps also align with the scraps created by shoemakers.

The lining of the leather straps is also sourced from Regal.
Seiko

Regal also provides Seiko with the lining material used for the soft underside of the straps. It is the same fine-grain leather used to line Regal dress shoes.

Unfortunately, Regal no longer carries the matching oxblood penny loafers that inspired the strap.

Shiracha silk

Seiko’s Presage Classic Series features dials inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship of the Edo period, which lasted from 1603 to 1868. Much like the Renaissance in Europe, it was a golden age of artistic innovation.

Shiracha is a light brown shade prized during the Bunsei era of the Edo period. It was used in artwork and decorative design for its soothing atmosphere.

One of the World’s Hottest Affordable Watches Is Now Literally Twice As Nice

These include malachite with a green sunray dial, lapis with blue, tiger eye with gold and aventurine with black. Everything else remains the same on the monochrome versions as on the twin-stone dials, including your choice of a plain or gold finish, and all watches are sold on an Epsom calfskin leather strap. The $890 price tag remains the same, too.

The polished steel case of every version of the ALD Dual Time is available in either a plain steel or gold PVD finish.
Dennison

In total, there are six different dials and 12 total references for the ALD Dual Time collection, making it pretty easy for anyone to find the right one for them. And at less than a thousand bucks each, who wouldn’t want to get one — or, perhaps more fittingly, two?

These watches look phenomenal, the craftsmanship involved with the stone dials is impressive, they’re wearable for practically anyone and they’re from one of the buzziest brands in the business. It’s safe to say Dennison has another hit on its hands. No wonder fellow hitmaker Ms. Keys is a fan.

Adidas Just Dropped What Could Be Its Most Disruptive Trainer of the Year. It’s Not a Super Shoe

The vast majority of running shoes are designed for outdoor usage. That means they need to handle heavy impacts on hard, often uneven terrain and have to be resistant to outdoor weather.

Treadmills, by contrast, offer a softer landing and more consistent terrain, nullifying the benefit of extra cushioning, and they are indoors, requiring no weatherproofing. The Treadflow takes this into account, offering a lighterweight, more breathable option that’s more treadmill-friendly than any shoe to come before it.

Light blue athletic shoes with a mesh upper and matching laces, worn with light blue socks, shown mid-air against a neutral background.
Because these are designed for the indoors and don’t need weatherproofing, Adidas has maximized their breathability.

Running up that (artificial) hill

So, what does that mean in practice? Let’s start with the outsole. Called “Lighttraxion,” the outsole is specifically formulated to interact with treadmill belts, offering less traction than road-going shoes and, in exchange, cutting down significantly on weight (hence the skeletonized cutouts).

But that’s not all. The midsole has also been adjusted. It features dual-cushioning Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro foam tech pulled from the brand’s record-breaking Adizero line. It’s formulated to interact with treadmill surfaces to offer the ideal energy return and fast, engaging transition.

Hoka’s New Streamlined Hiking Boot Is Still Tough Enough for Serious Trails

This isn’t your classic commuter. The lifestyle-focused Transport series gets its most rugged silhouette to date.

Roads. Sidewalks. Especially trails. These days, Hoka’s expansive catalog has not one but hoards of shoes for every type of surface.

Its latest can take on all three.

The Transport Hike GTX is the latest silhouette to join the brand’s commuter-focused Transport series, first launched in 2023.

Since then, the lineup has grown to include several different variants, including the streetwear-adjacent Project Transport.

However, the newest addition is easily the most rugged and capable to date.

The Transport series now includes a handful of variants, however, the Transport Chukkha GTX (pictured) is easily the most rugged to date.

Rain or shine

Similar to the existing Transport Chukkha GTX, the Transport Hike GTX features an EVA midsole under an an ankle-high upper that’s lined with Gore-Tex for rain and snow cover.

Unlike other Transport models, the Transport Chukkha GTX features a reinforced toebox for impact protection.

But it ups the ante with a durable toe cap for impact protection, while the addition of Hoka’s Active Foot Frame (borrowed from its performance running shoes) cradles the heel for stability on uneven terrain.

Overall prowess on the trail is only furthered by the Vibram Megagrip outsole that replaces Ecostep Evo, as seen on all other variants of the Transport thus far.

That imbues the boot with extra traction, supported by the use of 4mm lugs, as well as durability — a characteristic underscored by its final oriented flourish: metal speed hooks for an easy on and off.

Availability and pricing

The Transport Hike GTX will be available for purchase on Hoka’s official website starting October 1.

It costs $190 and comes in a handful of launch colorways, each one equipped with reflective accents for visibility after dark in urban conditions.

CJRB Combines Two of Knifemaking’s Best Locks Into One Super-Affordable, Fidget-Friendly Flipper

Black folding knife with a thin, pointed blade and an orange thumb stud on the blade for opening. The handle has a clip on one side and visible screws near the pivot. The knife is shown in a partially open position.
From the top you can see that rear tab sits right on top of the crossbar lock.
CJRB

With the Bolt, you can still use those tabs and a flick of the wrist to deploy and return the blade to its handle.

For the former, you can also use the de riguer method for this type of lock, ambidextrous thumb studs.

In practice it looks nearly identical to the motion you would use with a rear flipper, though what you are actually doing is rather different.

However, the Bolt introduces an additional option derived from a brainchild of Demko Knives, the Shark-Lock. It’s a small, jutting, jimped tab on the back of the knife, near the top of the handle, where you typically find a rear flipper.

But instead of being part of the blade, this tab is attached to the crossbar itself. This means that rather than sliding the side tabs with a thumb and forefinger, you can simply pull this one down with a single finger and flick your wrist to deploy the blade — reversing the motion to retract, of course.

Böker Kicks off Spooky Season Early with an EDC Knife That Would Do Dr. Frankenstein Proud

It’s also worth noting that the handle is the part from which this knife derives its name. Obviously, the “Ultem” in the title is a reference to the material, but the other bit, “Coffin,” is a call-out to its distinct shape.

As this knife has no locking mechanism — its a slipjoint, like Swiss Army Knives — it allows the handle to stay uniform and minimalist. Its only blemishes are the hardware and its reversible deep-carry pocket clip.

Folding pocket knife with a textured amber-colored handle and a silver metal clip attached on one side. The blade is partially visible, folded into the handle. The handle has a geometric, diamond-like pattern.
The knife’s deep-carry, tip-up pocket clip is reversible.

Hack-o-lantern

That old-meets-new angling of the handle extends to the pointy end, as well. You might call this knife a Frankenstein’s monster-like hybrid, blending the best of the old-school and new tech.

For instance, the blade boasts a lot of traditional elements. It has a manual nail nick deployment, which is common on some of the most classic pocket knives (again, like SAKs). It also has a classic drop-point shape.
