This Sub-$500 Sports Watch Totally Reinvents a Classic 1980s Feature

For what seems like forever, the watch industry has been caught up in a never-ending cycle of nostalgia where brands continually look to vintage watches for inspiration. Most often, this results in rehashed takes on divers from the 1950s and ’60s and racing chronographs from the ’60s and ’70s.

But sometimes, a brand will use a less-obvious vintage template to create something truly unique and unexpected, and that’s exactly what fan-favorite microbrand Brew Watches has done with its latest model.

Taking inspiration from the hybrid-display analog-digital watches that were everywhere in the 1980s, such as the famous Seiko “Arnie,” Brew has come up with an entirely new reason for having two different displays on the dial — and it’s a whole lot of fun.

Brew brings back the ana-digi dial, but not in the way you remember.
Brew Watches

Shot caller

From the beginning, Brew has looked to coffee culture for inspiration when creating its watches. It’s why the brand is called Brew, why its logo is a stylized coffee bean, and why most of its chronographs have a differently colored section on the seconds track from 25 to 35 seconds, as Brew says this is the optimal range to pull an espresso shot.

The new Brew Metric Digital Blend is arguably the brand’s most coffee-forward watch yet. Featuring its first ana-digi dial, the watch features a custom quartz movement that displays the time on an analog clock face on the top part of the dial, with the bottom part of the dial reserved for a red digital LED screen.

Reebok x PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection

Believe it or not, the original PlayStation video game console turns 30 this year. In celebration, Sony has teamed up with Reebok on a trio of the latter brand’s iconic sneakers done up in the original PlayStation’s iconic colors. The trio — the InstaPump Fury 94, Pump Omni Zone II and the Workout Plus — each pay homage to the console’s original launch regions — Japan, the USA and the UK. They also all get specialty details, like vintage PS logos, button-shaped charms and more. There’s just one major catch: each limited-edition pair is only available in its respective region.

Garmin eTrex Touch

This rugged, simple-to-use touchscreen GPS has a lot to boast about, but its most appealing feature is its incredible battery life. The eTrex Touch will last up to 130 hours in GPS mode or 650 hours in expedition mode, providing reliable support for any adventure. Preloaded maps with routable trails and roads, a slim design at 5.3 ounces and an easy-to-manuever 3-inch touchscreen increase utility. Add an Outdoor Maps Plus plan ($4.99 a month) and access premium content like elevation contours, satellite imagery and land boundaries.

Czapek

Czapek Antarctique Mount Erebus Rare Stones

Czapek adds to its solid gold Mount Erebus line of Antarctique integrated sports watches with the Rare Stones collection, featuring a trio of authentic stone dials. Two rose gold versions of the watch are available with dials made from lapis lazuli or falcon eye quartz, while a third model in yellow gold comes with a lacquered green Gibeon meteorite dial. The meteorite version was limited to just 8 pieces and has already sold out, but the lapis and falon eye models are each limited to 10 pieces and are available to pre-order, with prices ranging from $47,900 for the falcon eye on an integrated leather strap to $89,700 for the lapis version on a full rose gold bracelet.

Rose Anvil x Goral Shearling Aviator Jacket

When Rose Anvil and Goral started designing their sneaker collaboration, Rose Anvil founder Weston Kay sent the British shoemaker a vintage WWII shearling bomber for inspiration. The Goral design team liked the jacket so much that they added a reproduction to the collection. It is as faithful as possible to the outerwear worn by American and British pilots in the European theater. It is made with 2.2mm full-grain shearling for the body, reinforced with strips of Horween Chromexcel leather. The hardware is all solid steel, with a double buckle throat latch and leather buckle waist cinches. It is available in natural, brown, black and olive green leather. You can also pick up the matching slip-on or high-top shearling sneakers from Goral.

Fosi Audio IM4

Fosi Audio is fast becoming one of the most prominent names in budget hi-fi — and the IM4 is the brand’s first pair of in-ear monitors. The earbuds have an open-back design and feature 10mm beryllium-coated diaphragm drivers. According to the brand, they’re designed to bring a “spacious, natural sound and all-day comfort to the portable hi-fi category.” And at $100, they’re an accessible entry point for aspiring audiophiles.

This Esteemed EDC Brand’s Groundbreaking New Launch Outclasses and Outperforms Its Competition

Wallets are such a ubiquitous, commonplace part of everyday carry that you might not even really think about them as a part of your loadout. But it’s kind of unfortunate that pocket knives get all the glory, considering how essential your wallet actually is and how much more often you likely use it.

That’s especially true now, a couple of years removed from when the minimalist cardholder wallet bubble burst. However, it appears that this particular category may be clawing its way back into relevance.

The latest proof comes from one of the best design-focused EDC brands on the market. It may come as no shock to those in the know, but The James Brand’s Lowe is, in a word, magnificent. And I should know, having gotten hands-on with it myself over the course of the last few weeks.

The frankly stunning Lowe fits right in alongside The James Brand’s other catalog offerings.
The James Brand

Shorty got Lowe

Cardholder wallets are a dime a dozen. Go into any big box store, head over to the men’s accessories section and you’re sure to see dozens of options — although they’re likely going to be middling at best. Still, it takes a lot to stand out. And I’m here to say the Lowe does stand out.

One of the ways it stands out is by, well, not standing out. Perhaps that’s the wrong way to put it; it would be more accurate to say The Lowe embraces extreme minimalism.

Grand Seiko’s Affordable Cousin Has Never Made a Watch This Good-Looking Before

Orient is the gateway watch to many budding enthusiasts thanks to the brand’s near-singular focus on mechanical watches, its broadly attractive takes on several popular watch styles and, most important of all, its ultra-affordable prices.

But Orient isn’t just a bargain brand. Like its fellow Seiko Epson subsidiary, Seiko, Orient is a Japanese watchmaker that produces all of its movements in-house. Also, like Seiko with Grand Seiko, Orient has its own higher-end sub-brand called Orient Star.

Orient Star’s watches are considerably more affordable than those of Grand Seiko, and while the brand isn’t quite on the level of its cousin, Orient Star is still a legitimate Japanese luxury watchmaker, even boasting some features absent from GS, like silicon escapement parts.

Having said that, most Orient Star watches don’t really do it for me from an aesthetic standpoint. Their dials often feel too busy or have designs that feel cribbed from cheaper watches. But the brand’s latest watch — a hand-wound moonphase dress watch — is very, very good-looking. In fact, I’d say it’s the most attractive Orient Star watch I’ve ever seen.

Silver Orient Star wristwatch with a white dial featuring black Roman numeral hour markers, blue hands, a moon phase indicator at the 6 o'clock position, and a power reserve indicator below the 12 o'clock position, set against a night sky background with a full moon and silhouetted trees. The watch has a black leather strap.
Could this be the best-looking Orient Star watch yet?
Orient Star

Over the moon

Like Grand Seiko, Orient Star isn’t the best at coming up with memorable names for its watches. The new model is the M45 F8 Mechanical Moon Phase Hand-Winding. But what the watch’s name lacks in elegance, it more than make up for in looks.

A round, 39.5mm stainless steel case surrounds a dial featuring slender printed Roman Numeral hour markers and leaf-shaped hands. A power reserve indicator, also featuring a leaf-shaped hand, sits below 12:00, while a moonphase display rests at 6:00, cutting into the index there. I generally dislike the power reserve indicators on Orient Star watches, as I find them intrusive, but I actually don’t mind it here, as the moonphase does a great job of balancing it out.

The Internet’s Favorite Waxed Canvas Jacket Has a Sequel that Tops the Original

Huckberry markets the jacket as “the refined younger brother of our iconic waxed trucker,” which a spokesperson revealed was the jacket’s internal shorthand during its development.

They stressed that this isn’t an attempt to replace the Waxed Trucker, which isn’t going anywhere, but a counterpart that satisfies varying tastes and acknowledges an evolving menswear landscape.

One of my favorite details was the overlapping snap cuff.

After field testing The James for a couple of weeks, just as autumn weather crept into the Northeast, it looks like Flint and Tinder’s design team has done it again.

Put me in, coach

The Waxed Trucker was loosely based on the Levi’s Type III jacket, and The James is modeled after an equally iconic and versatile blueprint: the coach’s jacket.

It has a snap front, snap cuffs, an open waist and a pointed collar. Traditional vented hand pockets are bolstered with a suit-style vented chest pocket, a brilliant touch that adds a hint of refinement and provides an ultra-useful storage spot.

Crocs Goes All-In on Campground Coziness with These Comfy Camouflage Clogs

For instance, you might notice that there are no perforations in the upper. That means you’re at less risk of any moisture getting in, helping your feet stay more cozy and dry.

You might have also missed that these clogs have a bit of extra height. While their outsole is already somewhat outdoor-friendly, the extra height of the midsole means you’re higher above any soggy, muddy or otherwise wet terrain.

Back view of a shoe with a camouflage-patterned sole and a beige, fluffy, fleece-like upper lining. A brown fabric pull tab is attached at the heel. The background is a solid muted green color.
The higher back protects better from inclement weather, unlike the classic mule-style clog with the back strap.
Crocs

Slippin’ and a slidin’

Despite the added height and lack of perforations, these clogs are still very lightweight. That’s because, like their siblings, they’re made from Croslite foam.

That also means they’re extremely easy to clean. They’re waterproof, so if they get muddy, you can simply give them a rinse. You’ll just want to be careful around the collar, for obvious reasons.

BowFlex Results Series 1090 SelectTech Dumbbells

For years, BowFlex has dominated the adjustable home dumbbells market with its 552 Adjustable Dumbbells. The chief complaint? Their top weight is limited to just 52.2 pounds. For those looking to lift heavier, the brand finally has an answer in the 1090s. Like their predecessors, these dumbbells adjust incrementally, but now they start at 10 pounds and go up to 90, each — replacing up to 17 sets of weights. They’ve also been given a design overhaul, making them look better in the process.

LoveFrom x Balmuda Sailing Lantern

Jony Ive, founder of LoveFrom (and Apple’s famed product designer for over two decades), has teamed up with Gen Terao, the founder of Balmuda, the iconic Japanese design and manufacturing company, to create this Sailing Lantern. Inspired by classic maritime design, the Sailing Lantern is crafted from precision-ground, polished glass and stainless steel, featuring mirror and electroplated finishes. It packs dual LEDs, a rechargeable battery, and a single dial that controls both brightness and color temperature. According to the brands, this portable lantern is meant to create a light that “feels like an ancient flame captured in modern form — both romantic and enduring.”

The watch hands are silver, and there is a red-tipped date indicator hand pointing to the outer date ring. The case is polished stainless steel.Jaeger-LeCoultre

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Calendar 2025

JLC used its extensive back catalog for inspiration in creating this limited-edition version of the brand’s modern Master Control Calendar. The watch features an all-new textured, two-tone dial that completely transforms the model’s aesthetic, adding far more dynamism and visual interest. The inner portion of the grain-textured dial is light gray, while the outer portion is dark gray, and it’s meant to evoke the brand’s sector-dial triple calendars of the 1940s. Still powering the watch is the in-house Cal. 866 movement, which features a clever trick where the date hand jumps from 15 to 16 so as not to obscure the moonphase display at 6:00. The stainless steel watch is limited to 500 pieces.

Surly Straggler GRX

A decade after its launch, Surly’s affordable all-terrain 4130 steel horse is back and better than ever. Highlights include updated geometry — sloped top tube for better standover, more bottom bracket drop to boost stability, raised stack for more comfort — plus front and rear thru-axles, flat mount brakes and wider bars. The 44mm head tube accommodates a variety of forks — even a 40mm suspension fork — while dropper post compatibility and clearance for up to 50mm tires grant you permission to get extremely sendy, even on single-track.

Todd Snyder x Barbour Transport Jacket

Barbour revived the Transport Jacket, originally released in 1999, exclusively for long-time collaborator Todd Snyder. It resembles the popular Spey Jacket, with a cropped, boxy body designed for mobility and comfort. It’s packed with handy features like a zipper phone pocket in the placket, reverse-entry hand pockets that keep moisture out and a drawstring waist cinch. However, the stand-out feature is the removable waxed canvas, tartan-lined hood, typically sold separately with Barbour jackets. It comes in a faded charcoal grey that emulates the look of vintage Barbour jackets that have been lived-in for years.

This Respected Outdoor Brand Faithfully Revives Some Gorgeous 1960s Alpine Gear

The Wool ML Sweater, Blanket Jacket, Wool ML Jacket, and Wool Beanie are made from 100 percent merino and lambswool. The puffer jackets use real 850 fill down. And the corduroy pants are 100 percent cotton with genuine Sashiko stitched patches.

For a few of the outerwear pieces, Mammut utilizes Ventile, a “100 percent natural and hard-wearing cotton with a durable water repellent finish.” It was a newly developed fabric in the 1960s and is still popular for weather-resistant garments.

You probably shouldn’t climb the Alps in the Nigel Cabour x Mammut Japensse Direttissima collection, but it makes for beautiful and hard-wearing daily gear. It follows the retro trend set by brands like The North Face, Moncler and Patagonia, but with far more accurate detailing.

1960s alpine swagger

The Nigel Cabour x Mammut Japensse Direttissima collection will be available from Mammut on October 1, with prices ranging from $51 for a beanie to $990 for a Ventile parka.

The toughest and warmest piece in the Direttissima collection is the IN Parka. It has a Ventile cotton shell and Peretex Quantum lining and is stuffed with 850-fill goose down.

The First Commercial Space Station Just Got an Official Watch. It’s Not an Omega

The Omega Speedmaster is by far the watch most associated with outer space, and it remains the only watch authorized by NASA for use during extravehicular activity (AKA space walks).

But dozens of other watches have ventured outside Earth’s atmosphere, from early astronaut favorites like the Rolex GMT-Master to Fortis’s continuing flights with various space agencies around the globe.

One brand that has recently taken a liking to outer space is IWC. Last year, the Schaffhausen-based brand created four special chronographs to accompany the crew of the Polaris Dawn mission, with the space-worn watches later being auctioned off for charity.

Now, IWC is entering the next phase in its conquest of space by being named the official timekeeper of the solar system’s first commercial space station.

International Watch Station

Founded in 2021, Vast plans to kick off the next Space Age by launching the first commercial space station. Currently under construction with plans to launch next year, the Haven-1 space station will function as a state-of-the-art “human-centric” space station for both private astronauts and government projects.

Vast’s ultimate goal is to create long-term living solutions for humans in space, and Haven-1 is the first step toward that goal. Central to reaching that literally lofty goal is the Haven-1 Lab, a facility on the station devoted to research, development and manufacturing in outer space.

This Cult-Favorite Affordable Brand Just Launched Its Toughest Tool Watch Ever

Texas-based watchmaker Jack Mason celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, but if you’re a watch enthusiast, the brand probably didn’t pop up on your radar until 2022.

That’s when the brand launched its now-besteller, the Strat-o-timer GMT. Not only was it one of the first watches on the market to house Miyota’s new Cal. 9075 movement, which was the first affordable automatic “true” GMT movement available to third parties, but it also marked Jack Mason’s transition from a fashion brand to one committed to making high-spec’d mechanical watches for enthusiastes.

We’ve seen sports watches and dress watches during Jack Mason’s renaissance over the past three years, and now we’re getting our first true, dedicated tool watch in the Pursuit Pro. I spent some time with a prototype of the watch, and it’s every bit the rugged, purpose-built banger Jack Mason claims it to be.

Tough enough

Even the caseback of the Pursuit Pro looks like it was made for battle.
Photo by Johnny Brayson for Gear Patrol

Outside of their similar names, Pursuit Pro shares some commonalities with the Pursuit Pilot that debuted earlier this year. They share the same basic dial design and handset (though there are differences), and they’re both powered by the same automatic movement: the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret Cal. G101, which has a robust 68-hour power reserve and is protected against magnetic interference by an iron cage around the movement in both watches.

But that’s pretty much where the similarities end. When it comes to the dial, the Pursuit Pro amplifies the already impressive lume of the Pursuit Pilot by using solid blocks of ceramic Lumicast lume for the Arabic indices as well as their corresponding hour markers, which have also increased in size here. If there’s one thing this watch excels at, it’s legibility. You will never, in any environment, have even a whisper of trouble reading the time.

Land Rover’s Affordable Defender Mini-Me is Actually Happening

It looks like Land Rover’s new rumored Defender mini-me is coming to fruition. Spy shots recently surfaced of a test mule running about, thanks to our friends at Britain’s AutoCar.

The prototype was caught driving around on UK soil, supposedly not far from the automaker’s HQ in Coventry. While it appears heavily camouflaged — as most prototypes are in their early developmental stages — some obvious details can still be made out.

The new mini-Defender certainly looks more compact

Compared to the current Defender 90’s original prototype, the new car in the spy shots is obviously smaller.
Land Rover USA

The current Land Rover Defender is easily distinguishable from its competitors, thanks to its clean, boxy shape and midsize proportions. When visibly compared to the prototype in AutoCar’s spy photos, one can obviously see that the new car is considerably smaller in nearly every dimension.

But the Defender’s overall squarish design theme clearly remains. Such details include the very upright and flat-roofed greenhouse, and vertical trunk line drop-off.

Black off-road SUV driving on a narrow, rocky dirt path surrounded by green moss and rugged terrain. The vehicle has a spare tire mounted on the rear door and distinctive square-shaped taillights. The environment appears to be a mountainous or hilly area with scattered rocks and patches of grass.
The new Defender mini-me looks to inherit the standard model’s boxy shape.
Land Rover USA

The vehicle’s front-end isn’t as boxy, as exhibited by the roundish and protruding front fender and curved bonnet. It rather appears to incorporate some of the elements from the current Range Rover models.

Could This Precision-Engineered Pocket Essential Revitalize a Once-Dominant EDC Category?

There was a time not too long ago when you couldn’t type “everyday carry” into a search bar without coming upon a bevy of minimalist cardholders. For a time, the category dominated the wallet conversation.

Then, just as quickly as it rose to prominence, the bubble burst. It’s not that the category disintegrated, per se, so much as that the concept became all-too-commonplace, and innovation seemed to evaporate.

Finally, one of the most trusted brands from that golden era has returned with a potential proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. Could Dango’s SK1 Slide Kick Wallet bring this once-ubiquitous category back from the dead?

A sleek, black minimalist wallet holding several cards, placed on a textured dark surface. Nearby, there is a black wristwatch with a round face and a black strap, and a round black and white sticker partially visible in the upper left corner.
The SK1 Slide Kick Wallet is beautifully minimalist but offers some handy utility.

Kick out the jams

Slim cardholders, even now, are a dime a dozen — these days, you can find them in droves even at big box retailers. So it requires a certain flair in order to stand out.

In the Dango SK1 Slide Kick, that’s found in its deployment system. Whereas most cardholder wallets are manual — meaning you have to reach in and wrench your cards free — this one has a handy, useful, clever assisted mechanism.

Stay Travel-Ready With Victorinox’s Air Pro GMT Automatic

Tailored to professionals who move fluidly between work and travel, this timepiece is ready for modern mobility.

The watch has a rotating bezel with minute markers and a metal link bracelet. The dial includes multiple city names around the outer edge, indicating a world time or GMT function.Victorinox

Welcome to Talking Points, a series that looks at what makes certain products worth talking about, brought to you by Gear Patrol Studios.

Before modern flight technology, there was a time when pilots relied on GMT watches to keep track of global time (aka ZULU or UTC time). GMT watches were useful for planning and communicating during a flight, and played a crucial role in air travel. While there are modern instruments in the cockpit that have replaced the need for pilots to rely so heavily on their timepiece of choice, it still pays to invest in a watch that can keep up with global travel. Enter: the Victorinox Air Pro GMT Automatic.

Victorinox wristwatch with a blue dial and silver stainless steel case, featuring large white hour markers and hands, an orange GMT hand, and a date display at the 6 o'clock position. The watch has a rotating bezel with minute markings and a blue rubber strap. The dial also includes city names for world time zones around the outer edge.Victorinox
Black Victorinox automatic wristwatch with a red rubber strap, featuring a detailed dial with white and red markings, large white hour and minute hands, a red-tipped second hand, and city names around the outer edge for world time zones. The bezel is black with white numerals at 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50.Victorinox

The Backstory

An evolution of the Victorinox Airboss collection, the Air Pro GMT Automatic pays homage to the history of aviation while supporting modern travelers and professionals alike. The Air Pro collection offers a more premium automatic movement with additional GMT function and is packed with features engineered to support modern mobility.

Another unmistakable link to aviation is the use of the Swiss Air Force logo in the lower half of the dial: Victorinox has been supplying the Swiss Air Force with the soldier’s knife since 1891. The logo was first used in 2000 on Victorinox pilot’s watches.

The Gist

The standout feature of this timepiece has to be its sophisticated GMT complication, which effortlessly tracks up to three time zones, ensuring you’ll stay in touch wherever business or travel takes you. The internal bezel for the third time zone reinforces the Victorinox aesthetic, but it’s not just there for looks: it also offers added protection against accidental rotation, which is an important feature for maintaining precise time zone tracking.

Additionally, the Air Pro GMT Automatic features a Swiss Made Sellita SW330-2 Automatic Movement, 56-hour power reserve, anti-shock protection, dual crowns for keeping precise track of multiple locations and water resistance up to 200 meters. The timepiece is made with 316L stainless steel – available in sand-blasted, brushed, or polished finish — and features an anti-reflective sapphire crystal for both resilience and clarity.

Specific to this collection and inspired by vintage pilot watches, the metal bracelet design is thinner and more ergonomic, resulting in a more comfortable wear. Finally, the matte dial with raised numerals and oversized hands is filled with SuperLuminova®, in order to maintain high readability both day and night.

Each timepiece’s case, caseback, and movement holder is engineered, manufactured, and tested in-house at the Victorinox Watch Competence Center in Delémont, Switzerland.

Our POV

For professionals and frequent travelers alike, this slim, stylish and feature-rich watch is an appealing option. The Victorinox Air Pro GMT Automatic brings together aviation history and modern innovation, resulting in a timepiece that is both enduring and modern.

Tudor’s First Crack at This Popular Watch Type Is Absolutely Gorgeous

Developing a new movement is time-consuming and expensive. To maintain the relatively approachable price that customers expect from Tudor, it’s far more economical to outsource a movement.

The 1926 Luna is powered by a Sellita-produced caliber T607-9 automatic movement, based on the stock caliber SW280-1. It is a chronometer grade variation, produced to Tudor’s specifications, with an accuracy of -4/+6 seconds per day and a 41-hour power reserve.

Notably, even with the addition of the moon phase, the date complication standard to the 1926 collection is still present at three o’clock.

Silver Tudor wristwatch with a black dial featuring gold hour markers and hands, a date window at 3 o'clock, and a gold moon phase indicator at 6 o'clock, worn on a wrist against a dark background with gold speckles.
Even with the addition of a moon phase, the date complication is still present at thee o’clock.
Tudor

The timing and general appearance of the 1926 Luna are drawing comparisons to the first TAG Heuer Carrera moon phase, which debuted at this year’s Geneva Watch Week. While there are many visual similarities, the two watches satisfy very different tastes.

Tudor’s first moon phase is rooted in classical watch design with a modern finish. It is far less daring than the Space Race-inspired Carrera Astronomer, which makes it more versatile. It is also nearly half the price of the TAG Heuer.

This Game-Changing Knife Technology Looks Straight Out of Star Wars

Did you know that Star Wars is partially responsible for the development of some pretty impressive technology? It’s true. Advanced prosthetics, for instance, have been heavily influenced by Luke Skywalker’s robotic hand from The Empire Strikes Back. And that’s just one example.

Sadly, the most obvious tech, lightsabers, still hasn’t been fully realized (and, honestly, they might be too dangerous even if we could build them.) But a different cutting tool from the science-fantasy franchise, called a vibroblade, might have just become a reality.

The Seattle Ultrasonics C-200 chef knife is the world’s first ultrasonic knife. And if it delivers on its promise, it could change the industry forever.

Push that little orange button at the bottom of the handle and watch the magic happen.
Seattle Ultrasonics

Good vibrations

As you may have surmised from the terms “vibroblade” and “ultrasonic,” this knife promises technology based on vibrations. However, it’s not quite as simple as making a knife that, well, vibrates.

Inside the handle, there’s a precision device that causes the blade to vibrate at a speed of 40,000 times per second. The thing is, you won’t be able to see it with the naked eye, nor feel it in your grip or even hear it — it’s that subtle.

Studio Underd0g

Studio Underd0g x Fears 02Series Manhattan

Following up their smash-hit “Gimlet” collab from earlier this year, British independent brands Fears and Studio Underd0g are back with another cocktail-themed stunner. The “Manhattan” uses the same formula as its predecessor, combining the 38mm cushion case of Fears’s Brunswick model with the dual-layer sapphire dial and whimsical spirit of Studio Underd0g’s Series02. The result is a highly wearable, neo-retro, manually wound watch with a mesmerizing smoked amber dial inspired by its namesake tipple. The watch is limited to 300 pieces and will be available exclusively at the Windup Watch Fair in New York next month, and will be followed by a mysterious third collab from the brands to be sold online for those who couldn’t attend the show.

Logitech Signature Slim Solar+ K980

Logitech’s Signature Slim Solar+ K980 is the first solar-powered keyboard that the company has released in years. The wireless board doesn’t have any charging port or swappable batteries, but features a solar panel (on its top edge) that charges via sunlight or artificial light. Logitech claims that, when fully charged, the keyboard can run without any type of light for up to four months. The full-sized keyboard is compatible with Mac and PCs, and comes in one color: granite.

Vans x Atiba Jefferson Skate Collection

It should go without saying that Vans really only exists because of its connection to Southern California skate (and surf) culture. The brand’s latest collection, a collaboration with skateboarder Atiba Jefferson, pays homage to that history while offering some of the brand’s best gear in vibrant, monochromatic colorways. While the collection includes everything from socks to hats and even cargo pants, the chief highlights are undeniably the Old Skool, Half Cab and Curren Caples sneakers.

Peak Design x Sitka Studio Slide Lite Camera Strap

Peak Design teamed up with the beloved, Bozeman-based hunting brand Sitka for a camo version of its Studio Slide Lite Camera Strap. It features Sitka’s Optifade Marsh Pattern, which “utilizes a swirling color palette to exploit the vision of birds circling high above and keep the hunter concealed in standing crops, stubble fields, grassy wetlands and marshes,” the brand says.

Timex’s New Diver Is Its Most Impressive Watch Ever. It’s a Sign of Things to Come

Throughout the course of its 170-year history, American watchmaker Timex has largely been known as a producer of absurdly affordable watches. Even today, a large swath of Timex’s catalog — well over 100 references — consists of watches costing less than $100, a boast few other major brands can make.

But over the past couple of years, under the direction of the brand’s Milan-based chief creative director Giorgio Galli, Timex has broadened its aspirations.

Through a trilogy of eponymous watches beginning in 2022 and concluding earlier this year, Galli has introduced high-end materials and finishing, innovative designs, and Swiss-made automatic movements and construction to the bargain brand, taking Timex to places no one could have predicted just a few years ago — such as releasing a nearly $2,000 Swiss-made titanium watch earlier this year.

Now, Timex is taking its luxury aspirations even further by launching a new sub-brand called Timex Atelier. Its first product, the Marine M1a dive watch, might just be the most desirable watch Timex has ever made, and possibly its best.

Timex officially enters the luxury space with Timex Atelier.
Timex

Timex’s luxury dive watch

The Marine M1a is, by any definition, a luxury dive watch. It’s packed with features and details we associate with the genre, like Swiss-made construction, yet also boasts a number of unique and exclusive touches that should make it interesting to even the most seasoned collectors.

“The dive watch, with its universal appeal and strong symbolism, offered the perfect canvas to express this balance: Refined design, Swiss Made quality and technical reliability, while keeping the price point accessible,” Giorgio Galli tells Gear Patrol. “It was the ideal way to communicate what Timex Atelier stands for: Luxury that is authentic, discreet and attainable.”

Did a Revered Bag Brand Accidentally Unleash Its Best EDC Pack Yet?

It also has a thick, padded 210D Cordura nylon back panel and shoulder straps to help users comfortably carry the weight of the bag and its contents. And, as is always the case, the craftsmanship and stitching is extremely high-quality.

Perhaps most crucially, this bag (like its siblings) comes with GoRuck’s rock-solid Scars Lifetime Guarantee. That means, in using it as intended (to haul heavy sh*t), the brand will repair it free of charge should any of its parts fail you.

Two views of a black backpack are shown against a light green background. The left side displays the backpack's profile, highlighting a side pocket and a zipper running vertically. The right side shows the back of the backpack with padded shoulder straps and a top handle. The back panel features stitched padding for comfort.
The bag’s stability is mated to a thick back panel and shoulder straps, ensuring comfort regardless of activity.
GoRuck

Accidental(?) versatility

Despite its purpose-driven design process, I believe this bag is secretly an exceptional everyday carry backpack — largely because of its rucking-friendly features.

Obviously, the external durability and exceptional construction is significant, as it means the bag will last through thick and thin. However, there are other features that are just as valuable, if perhaps a bit more sneakily.

The North Face Thermoball Traction Mules Leather

The North Face’s Thermoball mules are some of the brand’s most iconic shoes, combining the cozy comfort of a puffer jacket with a slip-on. This latest edition continues that trend but elevates it to a more refined level. While these slippers still have the same silhouette and overall appearance, the upper is now made from premium leather, offering finer, more urbane styling.

Titaner Titanium Fractal Vise

The most ambitious Kickstarter project yet from the mad scientists at Titaner is this functional work of art, an incredibly versatile “fractal clamping instrument.” Milled and machined from aerospace-grade titanium, as usual, this indispensable workshop tool boasts a matrix of 16 precise contact points, a four-layer, three-group interlocking jaw system, intelligent torque, reversible jaws, nearly 4 inches of travel and a universal swivel base. Those features enable it to hold practically anything, at any angle, in a firm but gentle manner that lets you do whatever work needs to be done, without fear of slippage.

This Minimalist Masterpiece Reinvents a Classic Watch Style

The sapphire dial has a metallized treatment that allows it to effectively turn into a mirror at certain angles — a feature present on most MING watches that the brand calls “inversion.”

The case is the same 38mm stainless steel case seen on other 37-series models, and is absurdly comfortable. It features the brand’s signature flared lugs and a thickness of 11.9mm — though 2 of those millimeters are accounted for by the domed sapphire crystals on either side of the watch.

The dial’s metallization effectively transforms it into a mirror at certain angles, while the hand-wound movement features custom skeletonization and decoration exclusive to MING.
MING

As always, the Sellita movement powering the Lunatic features custom decoration exclusive to MING, with anthracite skeletonized bridges and circular rhodium brushing. MING paired the watch with the brand’s existing FKM rubber strap in white to amplify the futuristic, space-ready vibes. It’s also worth noting that MING’s rubber straps, especially when paired with the brand’s Tuck Buckle, like we have here, are among the most comfortable on the market.

Pricing and availability

The Lunatic is, in my opinion, the best moonphase watch MING has produced yet. Its sci-fi vibes are insanely cool, and the multilayer, multicolored lume treatment is both unique and visually mesmerizing.

But it won’t be easy to get a hold of. While the hype around MING’s watches has cooled in recent years, the 37.05 Lunatic will likely disappear from the market quickly. The brand is only making 100 examples of the watch, and then it will never be produced again. It’s priced at CHF 5,250, which, as of this writing, converts to about $6,600.
