Variety is the spice of life. At least, that’s what you could probably take away from this week’s slate of noteworthy EDC releases.
As is so often the case, there were some heavy hitters — like a new custom fan-favorite from Benchmade and a Green Beret-designed tactical knife from CRKT.
But there were also some more unique, under-the-radar drops, like a titanium pen made from drag racing valves and a hardcore ambidextrous Terrain 365 folder.

CJRB CutleryCJRB Glacier
This affordable gem somehow mashes together different influences and comes out the other end looking like a million bucks. The silhouette leans toward a gentleman’s knife with potential culinary applications while the black-and-green color scheme carries distinct military-inspired vibes. Beyond aesthetics, you get a 3.54-inch drop-point blade made of AC’s proprietary AR-RPM9 steel, ambidextrous thumb studs, a button lock and a grippy micarta handle. If you’re looking to take the (tactical) edge off, an alternative treatment at the same price features a sand-polished blade and a wooden handle.
BenchmadeBenchmade Custom Bailout
Benchmade has added a new favorite folder to its customization program: the Bailout is now a candidate to become the knife of your dreams. Choose from multiple handle materials, colored hardware and blade steels and types to create an EDC-friendly knife that truly reflects your tastes.
SencutSencut Stratex
If you think Civivi makes great-looking affordable knives, check out its even-more wallet-friendly brother under the We Knife umbrella, Sencut. Available in three variants, the Stratex is just its latest compelling and capable $50 release, which like many others leans on budget materials but does not sacrifice aesthetics. Here you get a 3.17-inch drop-point blade made of 9Cr18MoV steel, deploying out of a Guibourtia wood handle via the rear flipper or ambidextrous thumb studs. A caged ceramic ball bearing ensures smooth action while a liner lock holds that blade steady when it’s time to work.

Bestech’s Mothus was already one of the brand’s best knives, with its closest comparison probably being like Bestech’s version of Benchmade’s 940 Osborne. It’s stylish, ambidextrous and utilitarian. Unfortunately, it’s also quite expensive — or at least it was. With the launch of the BG67 models, the price plummets to a fraction of the original, while maintaining the same style and most of the utility. Granted, the materials have seen a swap for more budget-friendly ones (like G-10 and 14C28N steel), but it’s a remarkable value all the same.
CRKTCRKT Xolotl Automatic
For the third time now, CRKT has teamed up with former Green Beret Michael Rodriguez on a version of his Xolotl knife — a part of the brand’s Forged by War program, which sees veterans deign knives with their proceeds benefitting service member-oriented charities. This version is arguably the speediest, most convenient and most accessible take, as its an OTF automatic. Boasting a MagnaCut blade, aluminum handle and one-hand-operable slider deployment, this cutting tool is a tactician’s best friend.
VosteedVosteed Naga Bamboo Micarta
Vosteed’s Spanish Navaja-inspired Naga knife — with its 3.47-inch modified clip point blade and curvy button lock handle — was already one of the brand’s most unique knives. Now, it gets even more interesting with a more sustainable handle swap: bamboo-based Micarta. It still has the same stellar properties — it’s lightweight, extra tough, stable and more — but now it’s a little easier on the environment. It doesn’t hurt, either, that the beefy blade is still made from lauded S35VN steel.
NitecoreNitecore EDC17
This rugged, pocketable flashlight from Nitecore was designed for everyday carry. Measuring 4.84 inches long and just 0.63 inches thick, the EDC17 is crafted from stainless steel and offers both 2m of drop protection and IPX7-rated water resistance. The LED flashlight has a total output of 1,500 lumens and a maximum throw of 251 yards, and there are also UV light and green laser modes for additional utility. A sliding switch allows you to easily adjust your brightness levels, and USC-C charging makes it a breeze to stay powered up. What’s more, the flashlight includes a detachable high-hardness tip for emergency glass breakage.
Terrain 365Terrain 365 Invictus-TL
Terrain 365’s Invictus is its flagship folder and exemplifies everything the brand represents: formidability, performance, user-focused design and reliability. But this latest take, while still embodying all of those ideals, also offers something more: accessibility. For the first time, this Invictus is fully ambidextrous, courtesy of its spine-mounted Infinity Lock (a slider-actuated, highly-robust mechanism), thumb stud deployment and reversible pocket clip. Of course, it still has the brand’s signature Terravantium Dendritic Cobalt blade, a titanium-lined G-10 handle and more.
